Hey, thanks! I think I can pull it off without it turning into a constant running schtick. Now, if there's not a ton of competition for the job...
Wow. I had no idea so many people wanted to play wizards in RotRL.
Now I'm going to have a hard time choosing from the arcane users. XD
D'oh!
Best of luck to everyone!
Ekan Waterfield |
Okay, I've never played a monk in Pathfinder, and 1st level seems like a good place to start. So here's Ekan Waterfield, Human Monk who, like each of his siblings, went out into the world looking for ways to fight giants like the ones who destroyed their home. Some get armor and BIG swords, he stumbled onto a mentor who taught him how to punch really hard... go figure :)

Eostre Roldheim |
Archpaladin Zousha here. Here's my tentative entrant, still in progress: Dwarf Transmuter (NOT sin specialist, as according to James Jacobs, the events of Rise of the Runelords are what sparks interest in studying and refining Thassilonian magic that leads to the archetype being made). Also, gunning for the Cyphermage prestige class.

Question about signature moves trait:
Benefit(s): Your starting equipment includes a single masterwork item worth less than 900 gp, and you gain a +1 trait bonus on Bluff and Intimidate checks while wielding this item in one or both hands.
The trait suggests it to be a weapon, but it doesn't say it has to be a weapon. In other words armor, even though I wouldn't get the bonus unless I took off my armor and wielded it in my hands.

Your question is whether it should be a weapon or armor?
I'll rule that as long as you're wearing it (in the case of armor), you'll get the bonus.
If it's a weapon, it'll apply as normal.

are you okay with additional traits feat: 2 extra traits
and direct money gaining traits: things that increase gold directly, not just indireclty? Obviously I can't do rich parents if I do signature moves because they are under the same category, but there are others.
Feat for 2 extra traits? Sure, if you're so inclined.
Money gaining traits? I'll need to see your character's background to see if you can justify it.

Backstory:
Jacob Army Raiser had an interest in Arcana and the undead ever since he was a child. The kids in school called him a freak for it, they made fun of him and they laughed at him. Well he continued on with what he wanted to do, despite being made fun of for it. He had been into a few small fights, but he had other things to worry about. Normal kids just didn’t understand, and his parents thought about putting him in a magic school with Jabob’s interest, but they never had the time. So Jacob had to learn on his own free time. He got lucky, as being the good kid in school the teachers liked him and knew him. One day a teacher came up who knew a lot about the stuff Jacob was interested in and asked him if he would like to learn it in his free time. Jacob was glad was glad that someone has an interest in magic like he did. His name was Mildo. Mildo told Jacob that he had once lived in Varisia, and it would be a wonderful place for Jacob to visit if he ever wanted to practice his magic there. Mildo pulled out his arcana books, books on the undead and much more. It was like his own personal library. Jacob agreed to learn this under one condition, that he would keep his grades up if spending a lot of his free time learning this stuff, and he did. Upon graduation, Mildo took Jacob to visit Varisia. Jacob had learned of its culture and a lot of its history from Mildo even though it was his first time there. Jacob knew what to expect in the area and Mildo described it so well that it was exactly as Mildo described. Jacob loved the area so much that he decided to get a job there and live there. Jacob got a job there as a historian. It was Jacob’s job to inform people of Varsia’s past, present and culture. If Varsia wanted to attract visitors Jacob was the man for the job, he could tell you many interesting things about it to bring many visitors. Jacob had to learn Thassilonian to be hired for the job, but that was not a problem for a quick learner like Jacob. Jacob finally got to practice his magic here, and with all that he learned he was good at it. He enjoyed having his own army though. Pretty soon Jacob was up for a challenge. Why not cast spells with heavy armor on? The people gasped. Was he serious? Did he know how often he would fail? He knew, but he also knew that he could fail less if he trained really hard for it. First, however, he had to learn to wear the heavy armor, which was not a problem for Jacob, he trained for it and was determined. He even wore the armor while on the job. It wore him out at first, but practicing like that, it wasn’t a problem for Jacob. Jacob hopes to put his skills to the test someday and hopes to get better casting spells while wearing the armor.

Done. Actually, he progresses as a Ranger (so lots of skills) with a couple dips into Monk (maneuver master). The first dip depends when he attempts to fight trip-able threats influence. The second dip depends on learning to deflect arrows with his shield. I'm modeling his social awkwardness as a Charisma dump with the trait that uses Intelligence for Diplomacy. He has the freebooter archetype for leadership.
cheers

And thus it ends!
Here are the 6 suckers brave souls who have chosen--or rather, been chosen--to embark on this Adventure Path that started it all:
-Fulko: A barbarian crafted from civilization that gives weapons names of their previous dead owners;
-Ekan Waterfield: A monk dedicated to besting giants alongside his siblings;
-Sylvia Jahlyn: An impressionable, charming priestess of the Eternal Rose plagued by nightmares;
-Eostre Roldheim: A dwarven transmuter intent on gaining enough power to destroy the man who killed her master;
-Ilya Oftwrong: A samsaran diviner whose mind is so scrambled he'd be lucky if he knew what day of the week it is, let alone who he is;
-Nicat Brightluck: A halfling bard who has more lives than a cat, if his luck is anything to go by.
To those of you who did not get picked--hey, look what I had to choose from. I should thank you all for making by job as difficult as it was! :)
To the 6 heroes I chose: report here and introduce yourselves.
To all the rest: thank you all for your time! Best of luck to you all!
