Hearing Eostre's introduction, Ekan is quick to introduce himself as he's made enough social slips today, "Ekan, Ekan Waterfield. Welcome to Sandpoint."

Ilya looks rather studiously at the dwarven woman. "Something about you is different. Different from before. Naturally, I didn't know you before. But, you did. Are you different than before? Are you going to be different from now, later?" Nothing sinister! Just a little homage to the transmutation class abilities! =)

"My, my... how rude of me! Asking you such things, though we've only met. We have met, yes? If not, then I am Ilya Oftwrong. Though, I'm not as often wrong as you may think. While you are still you, as you are now, it is a pleasure to meet you."

"Oh the blue man Nicat spoke about" He extended his hand to shake the hand of the stranger "Sylvia already introduced me...Ilya, right?"
Ilya returned the handshake, quailing a bit at the strength of the man's grip. He spends a few seconds thinking, and once again retraced his steps from his initial collision with Ekan. "Why... yes! Yes, she did," he lays the lightest stress on the word 'did', as though the past tense of the word matters greatly. "I am Ilya, as she said. It is a great pleasure to meet you!"

"And people say I am strange" Fulko gave the man a smile "Still what would the world be without strangness?! Asked the bounty hunter rhetorically "Boring that's what and trust me Ilya you never want to be bored, not for long, it does terrible things to you" Said the large man in a tone that almost made it seem he was speaking about some ancient beast or monster.

Which reminds me...I need to find the play master Fulko's eyes dart from left to right, passing by the numerous heads of the crowds that surrounded him, in his search for Cyrdak Drokkus The question is how do I convince him to let me see the show for free

As his friends admire the intricate designs of the glass dragons, flowers, griffins and fruits, Nicat's eye is caught by a collection of small glass spheres, like colored glass soap bubbles, stacked in a miniature pyramid on the table. He reaches out and picks a red one up, holding it up above his head and admiring the sunlight through it. "Wow, so beautiful," he says quietly, then reaches for a second one, cobalt blue this time, and holds it up as well. He holds them side by side, then lines them up so a purple light shines through, and a wide grin splits his face.

Without seeming to even think about it, he reaches for a third bauble, in a brilliant golden yellow. Lacking three hands, he does what comes naturally, and begins shifting them from hand to hand, keeping one in the air at all times. "Such colors!" he says, as the sunlight shines through the glass balls and makes a swirling rainbow of light on his smiling, wide-eyed face. He hand snakes out and grabs a fourth ball, then a fifth, as he arcs them slightly higher to keep them from crashing into each other.

Casually, conversationally, as if he's somehow blissfully unaware of the great value of the items he's hurling through the air, he says, "Isn't the light through them beautiful, friends? Maybe I could get a job at the glassworks, and watch the light all day?"

Perform: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Seems good enough to pull off this stunt, no?

Just Another Glassworker... Right? A Bitter, Jaded Murderer

As the party examines the man's glass wares, Nicat picks several of them up and starts juggling them.

The vendor looks up and his eyes widen, his face paling. "Wha--?! No! No no no! Don't do that! They'll break and--"

A crowd has now gathered around Nicat, watching his juggling act with great interest. They start cheering and tossing money.

Silvers Earned!: 3d10 ⇒ (7, 5, 10) = 22
About 22 silver pieces are now scattered around Nicat's feet. The vendor just looks on, gobsmacked.

Fulko's Perception Roll:
Through the crowd, you can see Cyrdak the theatre owner walking around with a bag of what appears to be cookies. He seems to be eying the boulder-lifting competition with great interest, not paying you much attention.

Eostre taps her finger on the pie stall, waiting for the biggest and best pie that she was trying to pay for.

Soon enough, Eostre's pie is handed to her by Aneka.

The pie smells of well-done beef and spices, and is quite large.

He spends a moment examining the crowd. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

From the looks of things, the crowd is quite impressed with how well Nicat juggles such fine glassware. In fact, once he's finished, several members of the crowd approach the stall to examine the glass figurines for themselves.

Nicat realizes after a few moments that he's got a crowd, and hams it up a bit, spinning the globes higher and periodically catching one behind his back and flicking it up into the air to return to the rotation. He finishes with a flourish, managing to return the balls to the table one at a time and stack them in something approximating their original pyramid.

When he's all done, he gives Tsuto a quick wink and says, "Bet you make some money out of that show, eh?" He then scoops up the silver pieces scattered about his feet and says merrily to his companions, "Well, you've all had your pie, can I buy you an ale or glass of wine to wash it down?"

She walks off to watch Nicat, munching on the pie fastidiously to avoid spilling the contents on her clothes.

Boulder lifting eh? Well there is a chance to attract his attention With that thought in mind Fulko made his way to the strength focused competition, he leaned his neck to the left and right and rolled his shoulders in preparation for the physical activity he was about it go through.

Ilya's interest in the glass sculptures wains as the crowds begin to surround the tables, shoving and jostling to get closer and inspect the wares. Fulko turns away from the tables, easily parting the crowds as he moves. Ilya falls into his wake.

After a moment, he looks up to find that they are approaching an empty stretch of yard where people are hauling boulders around with no apparent object. "What do you suppose they are building?" he asks Fulko.

A sigh ran from Fulko's mouth "You'd think it would be something grand by how much effort they are putting into working those boulders" Commented the warrior as his eyes kept watching the contestants do their best against their inanimate foes "Their just trying to prove who has the stronger muscles...and usually I wouldn't bother with this kind of business, but I see an opportunity from playing this game today" After finishing his answer, Fulko walked towards the judge of the game.

"Can I enter? Or am I too puny for your contest?" The jest escaped Fulko unexpectedly, he just hoped the man wouldn't take it the wrong way.

The judge looks up at Fulko, noting the man's physique. "I don't see why not; you look like the sort of man who does this sort of thing for a living!" He says, nodding at a free boulder.

Several of the contestants are all quite bulky, with all of them managing to lift a boulder up to at least stomach height.

Cyrdak watches the proceedings with interest, munching on another cookie.

Just Another Glassworker... Right? A Bitter, Jaded Murderer

Tsuto is quite surprised by the number of people swarming his stand, looking to purchase his glassware. He becomes too busy fielding offers for his work to really respond to Nicat's remark, as well-intentioned as it was.

Male Human Monk-6 (HP: 49/56; AC 19, 18t, 16ff; F+7,R+7,W+8)

"I was told once that a young man looks at the world wondering how he can move mountains, but a wise man who gains the knowledge and skill to do so may find that the mountain is where it is for a reason...still, it is an impressive test of strength and I suppose good exercise for striving to perfect oneself," Ekan says eying the boulders.

Fulko walked over to the free boulder, rolling his shoulders and stretching his arms as he got closer to the stone that stood in the way of his plan. A sneer appeared on his face, before rubbing his hands together, finally he crouched down, wrapped his strong arms around the boulder and began to lift. The muscles in his arms becoming pronounced as he exerted his efforts to move the boulder.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Fulko is unable to get a good enough grip on the boulder to lift it.

"That's your first try, sir!" The judge calls out. A couple of contestants leave their boulders, having been unable to lift them very high. They wander off into the festival crowd, presumably looking for a stiff drink to soothe their wounded pride.

"The first man to lift a boulder above his head within 3 tries gets two free tickets to 'The Harpy's Curse'! A fine opportunity to take a lady friend out for a night, no?" Cyrdak calls out, a couple of tickets in his hand.

Male Human Monk-6 (HP: 49/56; AC 19, 18t, 16ff; F+7,R+7,W+8)

Ekan contemplates, then looks to his friends, "Do you think I should give it a try? If any of you wish a ticket, or know of someone who might like one, I will. Though I cannot promise I'd succeed"

Getting up from his crouching position, Fulko began circling the rock like a tiger engaged in a battle with another animal, his eyes looked wild, a sinister smile came over his face and his hands were closing into fists and opening at a rhythmic rate. After a few moments he returned to the massive rock, returned to his crouching position and wrapped his arms around the boulder and tried to raise it of the ground once more.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

On Fulko's second try, he gets a good grip and lifts the boulder up to chin height... then higher.

His arms only give out when the boulder reaches eye level. The gathered crowd has stopped to watch, and is starting to cheer him on.

"That's two! Good heavens!" The judge is quite surprised at Fulko's strength. The other contestants are watching him intently.

Just some prize mechanics here:

DC 10: Round of drinks from the other contestants.
DC 15: A coin prize!
DC 20: Free tickets to 'The Harpy's Curse.

Once more Fulko left the boulder, he rolled and shrugged his shoulder, leaned his neck to the left and right Stubborn aren't you? He hugged the rock once more, his knees bent and ready to straighten up and raise the boulder of the ground once more.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Eostre muses about the possibility of using magic for the competition, but that probably wouldn't be sporting. It would be amusing though...

Fulko's third try shows that the first two have taken their toll. While he does lift the boulder up, he only makes it to chest level before he has to set the boulder down again.

The judge walks out and claps Fulko on his shoulder. "Well done, sir! A right fine showing, no doubt!"

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a weathered leather pouch, handing it to Fulko. "A proper coin prize for such showmanship, and a round of drinks as well!" The other contestants step forward (some rather grudgingly) to lead Fulko over to the lunch tables for a proper celebration.

Coin Purse Contents:
The coin purse contains 20 gold pieces.

As Fulko is led off, the judge turns to the rest of the crowd. "We still have more prizes to give away, and tickets to be won! Is anyone else bold enough to test their might?"

Some more contenders step forward, ready to try. There are some boulders left unclaimed, should anyone be so inclined to try as well.

Male Human Monk-6 (HP: 49/56; AC 19, 18t, 16ff; F+7,R+7,W+8)

Ekan nods to Fulko, "Congratulations."

"That's alright lads, I'll just take the bag of coins and run, I've left some friends waiting" Stepping back from the crowd, Fulko walks back to where he left his companions last by the glassworks shop.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 For no hard feelings.

Ekan wrote:
"Congratulations."

"Thanks, was hoping for another outcome but second prize isn't too bad, come on I'll go treat you all to more good food" He replied to Ekan.

The contestants around Fulko aren't really angry or even hurt by him leaving. They just shrug their shoulders and go off to enjoy the festival.

As Fulko endeavors to lift the huge boulder, Nicat can't help but play along a bit. He stands outside the ring of spectators, but close enough to be easily noticed, and squats down next to a pebble the size of a baby's fist. He makes a great show of attempting to lift it, barely managing to even shift it on the ground, despite what appears to be great strain on his face.

A few onlookers chuckle and point at him, and he's about to make an even bigger show of it, when he hears cheering from the crowd and peers through the forest of legs to see Fulko holding the massive boulder at eye level. "Oh, well done! You can do it, Fulko!" he cries out, slipping through the crowd like an eel through marshgrass, his own act forgotten in the excitement.

He watches eagerly as Fulko makes his third attempt, but it is not as successful as the second. Nevertheless, Nicat rushes up to Fulko as he leaves the circle, saying animatedly, "Wow, Fulko, I knew you were big, but you're strong too! That was amazing! And they gave you money for it? Maybe I should give it a go..." Nicat turns and looks briefly at the great rock Fulko lifted, and holds his hand out level in front of him, as if comparing his own height to the boulder's. He squints, stands on his tiptoes and stretches his neck out a bit, then shakes his head and waves his hand in dismissal. "Maybe next time," he mutters as he chases after Fulko, eager to take him up on the offer of more good food.

"Good idea, Fulko, I'm starving, never got any pie, you know," he says as he catches up to Fulko and the others. He finds himself walking next to Eostre and says, "See that? He's big and strong, and smart too!"

Ilya circles away from the stonethrower's paddock, giving a rueful look down at his muddied shoes. "That ground was a bit too trampled for my taste," he laments to nobody in particular.

"You did quite well," he compliments Ekan and Fulko as he reached the knot of people walking from the crowd. "I doubt I would fare nearly so well in such a competition."

With a thoughtless gesture, he waves his hand in a rapid sigil, muttering arcane syllables under his breath. The mud on his shoes vanishes in a flash of sparks, leaving the loose folds of his pants fluttering. "There! That's more presentable. Where to now?"

Tsuto looks over from a couple of sales he's making at Sylvia & the rose she is purchasing.

"One gold piece." He curtly says, taking care to make eye contact before turning back to the other buyers.

Ilya's magical antics don't seem to draw much attention from the crowd. When compared to boulder-lifting contests, archery competitions, freshly baked pies, quality glass figures and who knows what else, his shoes becoming clean and his pants fluttering doesn't really stand out.

The judge gives Ekan a hearty congratulations as well, slipping a leather pouch into his hand as the monk takes his leave.

It also contains 20 gp.

Anyone Headed to Lunch
The noon sun shines down on the town square, upon the series of tables set out for the festival. There are three main stalls along one side of the square, each serving up their best meal. The Hagfish's stall, serving lobster chowder, is the closest to the podium, the White Deer's counter and its peppercorn venison is furthest from the podium, and the Rusty Dragon's table with its curry-spiced salmon is in the middle.
