Oh, I meant to ask. Is everyone living on that demiplane, or is it more of a retreat and place to study?
Definitely retreat and place of study. I don't want to spend my days ferrying people back and forth via planeshift.
Although if my Cousin wants to stay he's more than welcome.
Of course I may very well be staying in my Mages Mansion device.
I have an item that creates a mages mansion 1/d for roughly 26 hours (2hr/cl). lt effectively a home away from home. Seriously if I had one of these IRL I may never buy a house.
QUestion: Can I leave stuff inside? Technically no, but it would be nice to use it as an extradimensional space to carry large non-sentient stuff. Not people, but a wardrobe of clothes, etc.
Sparel Radtymah |
I just figured you could add Permanent unseen servants to the mansion for dirt cheap and that would be your staff. Perhaps some animated objects as well. I just wanted to know how people contact you guys and where you live.
Would the rest of the group crash as your mansion as well?
It comes with its own servants and food! Plus it's a mansion. The entire party would only have to see each other long enough each day to renew the spell. lol.
But yea, if they want to stay they can. It's an invisible door that I can set up anywhere and only those I allow may enter. If we're between adventures and they want to stay they can. For plot reasons it can literally be anywhere you want. I can imagine buying a 5X5 plot of land in a city, throw a welcome matt in the front, and "set up house." lol.
WIth your permission We can even alter the spell slightly so it remains active (ie auto renews) as long as the device (dollhouse) is on the inside.
Mage's Magnificent Mansion
School: conjuration (creation)
Level: sorcerer/wizard 7
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V, S, F (a miniature ivory door, a piece of polished marble, and a silver spoon, each worth 5 gp)
Range: close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: extradimensional mansion, up to three 10-ft. cubes/level (S)
Duration: 2 hours/level (D)
Saving Throw: none
Spell Resistance: no
You conjure up an extradimensional dwelling that has a single entrance on the plane from which the spell was cast. The entry point looks like a faint shimmering in the air that is 4 feet wide and 8 feet high. Only those you designate may enter the mansion, and the portal is shut and made invisible behind you when you enter. You may open it again from your own side at will. Once observers have passed beyond the entrance, they are in a magnificent foyer with numerous chambers beyond. The atmosphere is clean, fresh, and warm.
You can create any floor plan you desire to the limit of the spell's effect. The place is furnished and contains sufficient foodstuffs to serve a nine-course banquet to a dozen people per caster level.
A staff of near-transparent servants (as many as two per caster level), liveried and obedient, wait upon all who enter. The servants function as unseen servant spells except that they are visible and can go anywhere in the mansion.
Since the place can be entered only through its special portal, outside conditions do not affect the mansion, nor do conditions inside it pass to the plane beyond.

Sparel Radtymah, have you picked a god and a specialization for your wizard class? Or will be you a Universalist for your arcane casting?
I could not find a god with those two domains in the normal list. If you have a god from something else, or just want to worship "coyote," that is fine. But some especially devout people might wonder why such a powerful priest of a god they never heard of is helping them.

Universalist, yes. If no gods of your campaign world fit for my concept I'll go with the Coyote concept. I like travel domain, but I'm negotiable on the trickery one.
Frankly I'm not sure which would be better for the campaign.

You guys don't have to settle on a name just yet. You guys are known by some people but not everyone in the world (unless that's part of your backstory). But after the first adventure, you will be pretty well known (assuming you fix things).
I like this idea. Assuming we survive this, how 'bout then coming up with a name?
It seems fitting to like, "earn" one, I guess by "saving the world". Me personally, I'm not really sold on the ones we have. Maybe one will come to us that'll stand out better than these. *shrugs* Who knows? Maybe? (Again, this is assuming we survive.) :P

It's the standard Golarion setting, not a world of my making. I didn't see anything that fit in their pantheon. If you know of a god from Grayhawk or some other setting you want to worship, that's fine with me.
How about I switch out trickery with good and I worship Desna.

Nvm. Found my deity.
Given that I suppose dusk would be a more appropriate time to prepare clerical spells, then wizard spells in the morning.
My light sleeping via ring of sustenance will reduce the impact of my spell preparation.
Sparel Radtymah |
If you want to that, it's fine. But you don't have to give up on your concept if you do 't want to do so.
On a related note, will you prepare your spells in the morning then?
For simplicities sake I prepare my spells at the end of the night (aka morning) along with my wizard spells.

I got it all switched out, finally. I think I'm good to go.
@Tiny: How about Bless? That one stacks with Haste.
Or maybe Heroism? I think that one is only good for one pc though. Which kinda limits it. Handy for one, but, just one. (Unless I'm wrong, then it would be cool.)

Updated my bonded ring to also act as a divine focus (holy symbol). Additionally added a non-magical silver holy symbol necklance to be worn over my clothing. That'll probably be important if I really want to cast divine spells. ;-)

lol. "Welcome" will suffice. I was mostly being factious, but it something that a wizard might just do to screw with the king. Me personally I jsut enjoy the camp value.
If you want to get technical he wouldnt even be able knock on the invisible incorporeal door, but lets just say I set it to have an opaque door like structure while parked in the city. In the wilds may be a different story.

GM_Arbiter wrote:Does the mat actually say welcome, or something like "Beware of angry wizard"?HA! THAT would be funny.
Of course I could change it on a whim. If I'm pissed and dont want to be disturbed cast something on it and have it read, "Piss off" or "Abandon hope all ye who enter here."
The standard, however is a door with no building on a little patch of grass and a white picket fence around the 5 foot perimeter, sans the side with the door. ;-)
Edit: and of course the welcome mat.
GM_Arbiter |
I figured as much. You guys would still need a way for people to show up, so the welcome mat helps orient everyone. Also, it's raining.
I looked over the spell a few times and the phrase " and the portal is shut and made invisible behind you when you enter" seemed like I could at least let someone knock if they knew where it was.
If you want the door to have settings (visible, corporeal, incorporeal, etc.) that's fine with me.

It's all fluff anyway, but in the city it will be visible and coporeal.

Reminds me of the Tardis. ;)
No. You build the tardis with the demiplane spell and use a police box as the portal. Then you make the police box an artifact that can travel through time and space and you're golden. ;-)

I am mostly a new version fan. My wife is the one who got me hooked on it. She's a fan of all of it.
Big time Eccleston fan. Hated to see him walk away, and I was NOT postive he could be replaced. But I have to give props to Tennant and Smith for doing quite well. Intially, I didn't care for either of them. But they grew on me pretty quickly. It's a well done show.
Although, we do own the Tom Baker series A Key to Time. I actually like Tom Baker as well. I've seen one or two episodes with the other Doctors, and didn't really care for them.
My kids love Doctor Who. Especially my nine-year daughter. HUGE fan. It's pretty funny.
Sparel Radtymah |
Oh! You meant DR who. Yes, big fan of the new and mild fan of the old.
When speaking telepathically put it in italics for clarity. I also prefer :: on both sides. It helps differentiate it from speech.

Posted, again, sorry for the delay. I work at a local grocery store and this is a vacation week, so its been pretty hectic, and I do like everything there, lol.
Depending, I should be able to post a few times a day, but sometimes I'm lucky if I even get to read a game thread I'm playing in, let alone post in one. Such was today.
AWESOME GROUP AND AWESOME GAME!!! Can't wait to see where this goes, and how long and far :)...
I second the TCG: DON'T RUIN THIS GAME, OR I WILL DRAIN YOUR SOUL AND MAKE A PRETTY ORB OUT OF IT...
