kodo...so close.

Fia, standing all alone against the monstrosity, suddenly erupts with the one power. Her figure is suddenly glowing with unimaginable power, making those near her seem like a pebble to a boulder. Deftly she weaves a massive net around the creature, hoping to ensnare the beast. As the weave settles upon it, it gives a shake and a shudder, and launches itself out of the area where the air suddenly hardens.
Howling in anger, it dives upon Fia, mouth open wide and closing upon fia.

With a roar that is heard clear to ebou dar, The other Ryland rushes out from the barn and swings a mighty overhead chop at the creature at it bites into Fia.

damage: 2d6 + 20 ⇒ (6, 3) + 20 = 29 x3 for crit = 87
Moments later, others emerge from hiding around the large field, and begin to fire upon the creature. Fireballs and cones of ice pepper the creature to no avail. Arrows bite into its flesh, but appear to not be solid hits.
Fiallain Bo'airr |
Umm yeah. I knew it was just going to laugh in my face. Should have just burned it with an immolate or fireball, but I was trying to slow it down some and damage doesn't scale so well. Ish! Save me Litheene! lol
HPs: 44/89 - So, am I currently held in its jaws or...?
RIZZENMAGNUS |
not affected by anything: fia, rhoekk, ryland. You all can act normal, which fia has done.
litheene, you are done with being stunned and can act this round.
The fearsome creature roars loudly at the savage strike that is caused from the other Rylands attack. fireballs and lightning bolts seem to strike the creature, only to fizzle out and not do damage.
Turning towards the other ryland, the creature vents its rage upon him, with the exception of a tail flick at Fia.
bite: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (12) + 35 = 47
2 claws: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (3) + 33 = 36
2 wings: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (5) + 31 = 36

Ryland takes the blow and returns more onto the creature.
1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Litheene |
Slowly, Litheene's trembling subsides, as she regains control of her muscles, looking about.
As the legendary beast rages, another part of Litheene awakens. What a magnificent adversary the part inside of her that she gained, or was is discovered? When she was in the dungeon. The part that knows true power, and relishes unleashing it. Yes, she will fight, and the Seanchan will not know as per this new Rylands warning, for she holds a power they know not.
Wisdom against addiction: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19, pheww, dodged a bullet
Litheene reaches for Aes Sedai calmness, but not for Saidar. As sweet madness and hellish joy flow through her, her regular self feels distant like Saidar which was blown away from her grasp. The flow is not as great as back then, but it is easier to control. Lusting for more strength the amount she holds still entices her far from her regular rationality. You will beg for a chance to kill yourself, like the last one, before I am done with you the thought is hers, and not hers at the same time. Pain, fear and and all of her usual restraint gone, Litheene turns towards the AlRaken, True Power weaves molding like vipers in her hands.
As Litheene looks about with her eyes focus, a distorted smile grows on her face, then draws back to focused expression. But her features still show obvious excitement. She rushes forward, closer to the creature, ignorant to fear, with no glow of Saidar around her to protect herself.
As the tail slams into Fia just in front of her, Litheene halts, eying Fia curiously for a while observing her strength. Then, she pulls Fia closer to herself, crunching with her on the ground. She spreads her hands before both of them, as if trying to weave, yet still holding no glow.
Basically it's harden air stationary shield, bent to cover us directly from above as well, shielding about 120 degrees of the front. Assuming a door size surface two skinny crunching women pressed together should fit. Level 1 weave. If I can tie it off, I do (not certain how much I had to move to reach Fia and the AlRaken
Keelix Andren |
Not that I am super excited about being subject to the fear, but you did not roll for how long Keelix's fear will be, and how severe is the fear effect?
Fiallain Bo'airr |
Round 2
The immensely bright glow of saidar surrounding Fiallain wavered and then winked out, leaving her defenseless before the al'Raken. Even before the beast's attacks ripped into her, the tenuous grip she had on the power slipped and it deserted her as suddenly as it had flared to life moments before.
Staggered and bleeding from the powerful blows she had received from the creature, she felt a hand on her shoulder and was suddenly pulled from behind down into a crouch. Despite the obvious pain she had to be in and their circumstances, she watches in amazement as Litheene appears to weave a barrier of air about them, seemingly without the power.
Filing the strangeness of it away, she grits her teeth and draws her belt knife. It was all she had left to use.
RIZZENMAGNUS |
keelix fear: 1d6 ⇒ 4
sorry, i thought i had rolled for that
fia, you are now suffering a -6 to all stats, and the idea of attempting to connect to the source makes you want to passout
More lightning bolts and fireballs are hurled at the creature as people rush about, attempting to drive off the great animal. One of the men who had just hurled a fireball at the creature trips and falls near Llitheene and Fia. The al'raken turns and strikes at the fallen man.
It's mouth, open large enough for an ogier to walk into, instead of snaping shut upon the man, instead seems to hover over the man. The scales upon its back and sides seem to suddenly glow, with lightning emmiting at random from the creatures body striking wildly.
The man, hunched under the jaws, can only stare up at his fate. A strange inhalation from the al'raken begins, and then the man begins to glow the same color. He continues to glow in intensity when slowly a single filament of light connects the man to the mouth of the monster.
The man screams in horror, panic and fear giving him power to leap to his feet, but it is too late. In a split second, he goes from being human to suddenly ash. The ground, where he stood, is now bare of vegetation, and the soil smoking from being in intense heat.
Everyone around the beast, AltRyland and his group, all fall back from the sudden onslaught from the lightning bolts.
Lightning bolts hammer the truepower shield, being deflected into the sky and ground. With each strike, a subtle color hue is added to the shield, changing it from clear to violet.
Kodokura |
So assuming the madness-induced panicked condition supercedes stunned - if Imm wrong let me know and I'll redo this post.
As the beast draws the light from the prone man, Kodo struggles to his feet. Eyes wild and teeth bared, his aspect is more that of an animal than a man. "Get away... You can't have it!" he roars at the massive creature. With hardly a glance for Alathea or his other companions, he stumbles to his feet and sprints away from the beast.
Ryvin Altessar |
Ryvin glances out from behind her cover, lips moving as she struggles to fight through the fear clawing at her resolve.
"It's huge. And fast. But... just now... busy. So perhaps...?"
Ryvin channels, flows of all five Powers swirling around the Al'Raken, there to form into an impenetrable dome.
A Master Ward, centered exactly on and enveloping only the Al'Raken to keep it pinned in place. Ryvin will maintain concentration - and cover.
RIZZENMAGNUS |
kodo: yes
kodokura: for now, yes. I am doing a play test to see if madness should overrule all other conditions.
ryvin, you still have 4 rounds of fear left to endure, so you must spend that time fleeing the creature
rhoekk, fia, litheene, and alathea can now act normally. Keelix has 2 rounds left of fear, vala has 2 rounds of stun left, ryland has 1 round left of fear. Kodokura is panicked with madness for 3 rounds left.
the creature steps into a group of people and flails about, biting and smashing their bodies.
bite: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (5) + 35 = 40
2 claws: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (6) + 33 = 39
2 wings: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (7) + 31 = 38
tailslap: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (16) + 29 = 45
damage bite: 4d6 + 21 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5) + 21 = 39
damage 2 claws: 2d8 + 14 ⇒ (5, 3) + 14 = 22
damage 2 wings: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 5) + 7 = 17
damage tailslap: 2d8 + 21 ⇒ (6, 6) + 21 = 33
Rhoekk of the Tardaad Aiel |
When the initial collapse happened, Rhoekk glanced around once; seeing a way clear from the debris, he was also able to take in the still form of Vala, failing to move quick enough to escape the falling roof. Diving in to protect her, the tall form of the Aielman covers hers with his own body, sheltering her from harm.
Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 3, 2) = 20
Picking himself up afterwards, he glances upward at the beast in order to take stock of the situation.
Not exactly clear on what the conditions are around the group and the cottage; someone mentioned a Masterward, so I am not sure, does Rhoekk have a clear line of sight/fire to the dragon, or is he trapped inside the shield (if any) at the moment?
Fiallain Bo'airr |
Rnd 3:
Fia crouches next to Litheene beneath the air shield and watches in impotent fury as the beast goes on a bloody rampage.
Of the post start of combat weaves, Litheene's shield of air around herself and Fia is, I believe, the only active weave from our party. Now that you mention it, there were a number of defenses set out prior, but I had forgotten all about them and don't know their current status or relationship to where we are atm.
Litheene |
Will save to release the TP and embrace Saidar: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 VS DC 25
He used the power from that man? with her shield heating under the lighting barrage, Litheene decides to strike as long as it still holds.
With the limited amount of power at her hands, Litheene let's the rage roll on, but releases for now her obsessive grip on the strange power, letting Saidar flood her. Pulling more and more, she aligns and crosses fire and spirit, fueling it into the AlRaken. The combined force of her effort and the Angreal strained to fill his massive form.
I assume based on the pattern of Immolate, that level 9 should be enough to account for it, if not I'll adjust my action. Overchannel 2 levels: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26. Check against 20 WR: 1d20 + 10 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 10 + 9 = 32
Once the weave is formed, the fire ignites, torching the beast.
Will DC 23 for half. 10d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 6, 4, 1, 6, 4, 6, 4) = 40
Alathea Sedai |
Alathea gathers her senses back to herself and looks between the fearsome beast and Kodokura. In the chaos of the attack, she has little idea of what to do. Her lover flees, snarling half-mad words at the creature...should she go to him? Her sister stands before the beast, protected from its fury by...what? Nothing that she's seen before. Should she join in the offense against the creature? Regardless of what she chooses, however, she knows that she cannot do it without the One Power. Fighting the panic and confusion of the situation, she once again embraces saidar.
Alathea's action for round 3 is to embrace the One Power.
Kodokura |
Yeah, sorry about that, girlfriend... Kodo's a real hero, huh?!
The diminutive Shienaran will continue his snarly high-tailin' action for this round. (All in all, as much as I hate having my brave and loyal character flee the party and the love of his life, it probably makes him more likely to survive...)
RIZZENMAGNUS |
behind every fleeing madman is a woman who drove him to it...
Rhoekk, you are correct. the Harden air walls on the roof, and three of the walls are still up. The wall where the back of the house was is gone.
im not going to post anythign today to give everyone a chance to look over the map and make reccomendations for their PC locations
RIZZENMAGNUS |
hey everyone, no postings from me today. I am sorry, been very busy yesterday and today. Should be up and ready to go for tomorrow.
Since the fault is with me, i will say that everyones stun, fear, or madness has lifted. so feel free to jump into the fight and get rolling...
Ryvin Altessar |
Hey, we understand. Life happens.
This being the case, though: Master Ward. Let's clamp this lizard down!I'll smother him if nothing else works.
RIZZENMAGNUS |
and im back
will save: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
Fire licks about the creatures body, but it appears to have no affect upon it.
the creature spins about, its large predatory eyes fixating upon Alathea. Its nostrils flare and flex, deep gouts of breath rush in and out like a massive bellows. It opens its mouth and roars, then lunges at alathea...
...only to crash headlong into the solid wall of air that protects everyone within the ruins of the building. It roars loudly and slashes and bites the hidden barrier in an attempt to destroy it.
1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40
With a bright flash, the creature is able to obliterate the barrier.
Fiallain Bo'airr |
Hurting from her wounds, mentally lethargic, and exhausted to the point of near collapsing from her earlier efforts in reclaiming the power, Fia just remains hunkered down beside Litheene behind the barrier. She crouches with knife in hand, ready to defend Litheene if need be, but otherwise can do little but watch in growing dumbstruck horror at the carnage wrought by the beast.
Ready action to throw Litheene (1st) and herself (2nd) out of the way if the raken does return and punches through Litheene's barrier in an attack on us.
Rhoekk of the Tardaad Aiel |
With the burst of light that signals the destruction of the barrier of air (if that does indeed happen), Rhoekk starts firing arrows at the massive beast at lightning speed.
Perhaps the magic of this bow will suffice where wood and iron has failed...
Rapid flurry
Attack 1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28
Attack 2: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34
Attack 3: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
I'm rolling the lightning damage separately, as I am assuming OOC that the dragon may be immune, given his apparent use of lightning as a weapon.
Arrow Damage 1: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Lightning 1: 3d10 ⇒ (1, 1, 4) = 6
Arrow Damage 2: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Lightning 1: 3d10 ⇒ (7, 3, 4) = 14
Arrow Damage 3: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Lightning 1: 3d10 ⇒ (5, 7, 8) = 20
Ryvin Altessar |
Dice, don't fail me now! WR check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Glaah. >_< *sigh*
Ryvin sights on the al'raken and tries to catch it in a Master Ward, only to watch the weaves fall apart!
'Times like these are when I wish I'd studied Earth Singing!' she thinks as she ducks under cover and gets ready to try again.
Alathea Sedai |
As the beast turns towards her, Alathea pushes down the urge to flee, as well as the urge to channel fire and death down to protect herself. This creature has some connection to the One Power.... Pulling on Spirit, she crafts an immense barrier to the power. Unsure whether the beast can even be shielded, and if it can where to put the shield, she takes her best guess and slams the shield in between the beast and the One Power.
Alathea is taking a gamble and attempting to shield the al'raken, since she thinks that it is somehow using the One Power. Using the rules quoted below (from page 2 of the discussion for "A Combined Effort"):
Concentration check plus power rating: 1d20 + 18 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 18 + 17 = 48.
Revised version 2:
This version of shield is cast at 3rd level. To shield a target, make an opposed Concentration check. The Concentration check for both participants is modified by their Power Rating (sum of the subject’s Intelligence bonus, Wisdom bonus, Charisma bonus, and levels in channeling class, as detailed in Prophesies of the Dragon). A victory by the shielding character indicates that the victim is shielded, as detailed in the weave description. Should the victim win the opposed roll, she is not shielded. Should she win by 10 or more, and has the ability to weave shield herself, she may immediately attempt to shield her attacker.
This is a free action and requires another opposed skill roll. The battle of wills may continue until one character is shielded or a character wins the opposed skill check by less than 10, which disallows a retaliative shielding attempt.
If the target is not channeling and has not embraced the True Source, the channeler receives a +6 modifier to the opposed skill check.
Kodokura |
Kodo, mid-sprint, stops dead, a look of horror on his face. Half a heartbeat later he turns on his heel and tears back towatds Alathea, desperate to restore the link with her. [i]Light, what was I thinking? Alone we have no chance to defeat this thing with the Power... And how could I desert her?[/]
Moving right back next to Alathea. We need to touch to link, yeah?
RIZZENMAGNUS |
hey everyone, have an update. i have successfully found the annoying virus and removed it from the system. now i am having to go through the long process of finding non-corrupt data and restoring it to the network. I am hoping to have this managed by thursday and can get back to playing.

perhaps reset adventure to prior to al'raken arrival?
push past the al'raken and setup in bandit camp?
