Whew I'm back.

Huge festival! "Boston Calling". Hard work, lot of fun.

The Exchange

Hope it went well. We had some good news and so we get to stay on the island for another three years. Its idyllic here so everyone is happy.


It did go well but it reminded me how hard it was last year to keep up with PbP when these festivals and shed venues start operating.

I think I will take my hiatus a little earlier this year, something like July-September. But I will maintain more of an online presence this time.

For now though, game on.

I can't remember how many first level spells leoven have used. I also have the feeling that I spent all my channel energy uses for today.

I used liberating command for Janna, Bless in the last fight, I think I used sanctuary to cast CLW, that would mean I also used my two CLW slots.

I think I already used the two barkskin, and one summon monster II.

So, it seems I only have SM II.

Leo, "all over creation" is a saying that means all over the place, everywhere. I guess maybe it is referring to the world, as god's creation, so I think maybe it is a sort of christian saying?

I could have sworn I saw a post about leveling up.


Yeah I figured leveling up would be a good way to use this time I was hung up at work.

Would it make sense IC for the party to rest in the secret chamber off of M5 and everyone level up?

Folks - my home inter webs will be decidedly spotty for the upcoming week (long awaited final stage refurb on our cottage home being done). Should be able to post during working hours - but that'll be dependent on work!

I would love the chance to level but I'm not really sure resting now would be in character, especially for Kev, Sam and Leo. They are pretty desperate to end the ritual. At the very least Damien would want to work on dealing with the cultists and orcs in the south end of the tunnel if we can't progress forward.

This lack of an identifiable path to the chapel is killing us. Ooc I feel like going further down is likely only to lead us into vampire territory we're "intended" to reach after dealing with the cultists up top.

Bottom line, without more information, I don't really see us resting until we've reached the chapel...

Edit : Actually, the more I'm thinking about it, waiting could actually make sense, depending on your answers to my questions in gameplay.

Tell me what you think guys, but if the smoke is still issuing from the chapel, we might just need to wait it out anyway. Damien for one isn't plunging into that stuff for any money. Even if we make it to the chapel, stepping inside with all that smoke is likely to do god knows what to us. If the door in the basement is a bust, it might be practical to clear the remaining cultists from this level and try to wait for the smoke to disperse?

Jerrid would wait out the clerical spells and dispersal of the mist. But we seem to have cocked up with the ogre and so his opinion may not matter much. The others may be out for blood.


Let's get everyone to vote. You can rest in the hide-hole (but the cultists know they're being attacked now) or you can go down into the under crypt, or you can cross the courtyard to the chapel. Or....

I'd be okay with that but my vote is to clear out the tunnels with the orcs and cultists. We already have the element of surprise, they don't seem to have any idea we're down here. If we hid for eight hours, who knows what we could find, once the guy returns from the chapel, they might leave, or recede deeper or who knows what. If we can cut their leader off from his support we'll be in a much better position going forward.

I concur with pushing on to clear the immediate threats whot! Resting up makes battle savvy sense when we have the upper hand and a clear lay of the land... but right now we lose the momentum and risk a necromancer raising our bloody handwork to present a secondary threat.

I for one would prefer to avoid risen black orcs, demons or whatnot! whot!

That is supposed to mean "From the double doors, Sam can see the smoke spreading from the chapel" not "Sam can see the smoke spreading from the double doors." heheh. Sam was standing by double doors to the courtyard at the time, from the donjon.

Could you update positioning on the map DMG? Maybe give us some indication where the door and all the windows are? I'm unsure of my points of ingress at this point.

I know the smokestick kind of hoses you Janna and Vhillish. I suggest you guys try lobbing some holy water? It will have splash radius and lacks any collateral damage so it's something at least :)


The little diagonal slash mark in purple is supposed to be the door and the windows are at 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock. Tell me if that makes sense.

Also, Lannet is hanging smack dab in the center, and the ladder up to the steeple is in the top right corner of the chapel.

Just want to say I'm loving the recent posts DMG, very flavorful! I realize the occasional descriptive simplicity of our last fight was mainly due to real world time constraints but I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying the little extra flair here. Makes the fight both more entertaining and easier to keep track of as events really stick in your mind.

Also, Jerrid should have an action this round. His previous post is just mislabeled. He delayed at the top of round 1 and that was his first action this fight. He's after the ghouls now but still gets to go with the rest of us.

Description of the ebb and flow of combat can be so difficult to capture effectively whot! And I must say you make a damnable jolly good stab (if you'll excuse the pun) at it whot-whot!

Given that keep track of most of my travelling companions is akin to herding skittish alley cats, it makes for some truly memorable reading and reminiscing.

I'm confused, you posted your action before Tavik took his fist one. You delayed until after the ghasts but I don't see why you don't still have an action in round 2 with everyone else? Well, except me at least, I still need to wait for Tavik :P

Okay, but in future, you can delay as long or as little as you want. No reason you couldn't have gone right after the ghasts in round 1, it's where your post fits in the narrative anyway.
