Rose Waerloga |
"Of course, darling, since you volunteered. I shall give you a scroll or two, I believe that you're able to use them?", whispers Rose back at Kazmuk.
I have 3 scrolls of Comprehend Languages, and I can give you 5 flasks of Alchemist's fire, if you want.
Zinthar Kanedrel |
Zinthar barely takes his eyes off Dakang as the man talks, almost as if trying to will the man to reveal something be shear force of will. As the decision is reached he looks to Kazmuk. He shakes his head in frustration.
"I can increase your natural agility but only for a brief time, probably not long enough to last as you complete your study. Unfortunately I have very little else to aid you if you go in alone."
I can hit you with a 10min Cats Grace just as you enter....but I have to imagine youre going to be down there longer than that...
Kazmuk Mithralsmith |
Looks like my primary protection is going to be my natural Dwarven resistances and a suspicious nature. My biggest worry is that we will have no way to communicate. ... Unless I guess if Rose would let her familiar accompany me. She would then be able to keep track of its emotional state. Unfortunately that could be prone to misinterpretation and I'm not sure the familiar would want to cooperate.
Rose Waerloga |
I'd let you take care of her, but I don't think that they'd let animals in the crypt. Oh, just remembered, I got 2 tanglefoot bags as well, feel free to take them just in case you need to leg it. I do believe that if need be, I can sneak in there as well, since I prepared invisibility twice, but I assume that we'll be under guard.
Turning to Dakang, Rose says, "We have decided to have Kazmuk go, since he has a particular expertise with stonework. Would he be allowed to take sketches of the surroundings?"
GM Arkwright |
So, if you'd like me to describe what will happen. In the little room above A12a, one of the Aasimar will help Kazmuk with the oils; she will then let him into A15 then close the door behind him, waiting there. The door to the crypt will be unlocked. While this is happening, you will all be in A9; the guards will check on you, then withdraw to the room above A12a to wait with the other guard for Kazmuk.
Kazmuk Mithralsmith |
IIRC Kazmuk has already been in A-15. That's where the trapped statues are. This could get interesting. Kazmuk will take all the gear that Rose is willing to loan him.
Kazmuk Mithralsmith |
Kazmuk accepts the antitoxin and anti-plague from Ealasaid but not the silver blanch. Kazmuk points out that his warhammer is silvered. Kazmuk s says,"I'm ready to go."
Kazmuk Mithralsmith |
Kazmuk is simply going to go along with Dakang and his guards unless/until he gets attacked. He is keeping a close eye out for anything that seems too badly out of place. Once he gets to the crypt his primary activities are going to be checking for traps and sketching what he needs to sketch.
GM Arkwright |
Alrighty then.
Night is falling; it becomes time for Kazmuk to visit the crypt. He escorted to the north, before the door to the statue corridor; a gold and silver bowl filled with silvery water sits read for him. A guard directs him to daub his forehead and hands with it. After he does so, he is let into the corridor, and the door is closed behind him. The door to the crypt is across the corridor, and apparently unlocked.
The rest of the group withdraws to the meditation chamber; the guards see them in, wait a few minutes, then join their companion to the north.
1d20 ⇒ 4
1d20 ⇒ 8
1d20 ⇒ 11
What do you all do?
Rose Waerloga |
Rose will sit in the meditation chamber, and ready herself for whatever is coming. If any of the guards are there, she'll try make small talk to them.
Diplomacy if possible: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
Zinthar Kanedrel |
Zinthar spends the time reading through his spell book. Whether he is simply continuing his studies or planning which spells he will need to blast their way out of this place is not quite clear.
Kazmuk Mithralsmith |
Kazmuk will proceed slowly down the hallway taking notes of all he sees and checking for traps as he goes.
Perception check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
And with rolls like that finding them the hard way again. :-(
Rose Waerloga |
Rose just looks at Zinthar, looks away and suddently looks back at him.
"Darling, would it be too much trouble to look at your spellbook? I do know a thing or two about them, and I understand if you're busy, or just don't want to do it." She smiles wildly and pets Niv on the head, and sits on one of the mats, looking at Zinthar for a reply.
GM Arkwright |
This vaulted mausoleum holds six large sarcophagi, each bearing the carved image of an aasimar dressed in ornate robes and holding glass spheres in one hand and a bell, a book, or a lotus flower in the other. Innumerable runes crowd the top edges and sides of each sarcophagus. A solid wooden door stands near another door that has been boarded shut.
Kazmuk's gaze is drawn more directly however to the three... creatures... standing in front of him. At first glance they seem like normal aasimar, clad in robes and battle armor, two holding heavy swords. Upon looking closer their eyes are blank and rolled up, their skin is pallid and scratched, and flies freely crawl over their faces and skin, inside their eyes and over their eyelids without triggering any reaction at all. As one they let out a hideous, coarse hiss and ready to strike at the dwarf.
As Kazmuk faces his foes, the rest of the group is suddenly beset by frightful creatures. The door slams open in a sudden burst as a spider the size of a man scuttles in, a larger parent behind it. The wall to the south shakes as something large presses against it, bursting forth to reveal another large spider scuttling down from some dusty passage. Their hideous faces twitch and drip with poison as a hideous, coarse hiss fills the air.

Karthan Sternmason |
Karthan seems all too calm and actually seems to visibly relax as the thing he's been dreading has finally begun. Pointing his gun at the biggest of the spiders he takes the shot.
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 2 = 13 Touch attack if within 40ft. Will move in to this range if necessary. IF already withint 30ft. add +1 to the above.

GM Arkwright |
Karthan lands a hit, and blasts a hefty chunk of thorax off of the creature.
The coarse hissing intensifies as around the temple, the creatures move forward to attack. Raising their legs, the spiders shoot white webs out to cover and restrict the party's movement.
Web touch attacks against Rose, Ealasaid and Karthan; if they hit you are entangled, can escape with a standard action and an Escape Artist DC 13 or Strength DC 17 check.

Ealasaid of the Golden hair |
The meditation of Elasaid get interrupted, the tattoed warrior seems very angry for that.
*Enters the rage*
Str check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Come one lets see what you have! - Ealasaid advances drawing her heavy flail.
And by that I mean moving 5ft to the south
Kazmuk Mithralsmith |
Looking at the map Kazmuk appears to have his back to the north wall. Apparently having lost initiative he got pushed back from the doorway. Darn.
Perception check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 To see if Kazmuk hears the gun go off.
Kazmuk draws his battleaxe and using a two handed grip attacks the creature on his left.

Probably a miss but I'll roll damage anyway.

"Ugh..." says Rose, piling in the webs, trying to escape.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
She messes around, covered in webs, and tries to move backwards.
Zinthar Kanedrel |
.
Zinthar's face breaks into a grim smile as if to say finally!. His combat reflexes kick in as he takes a step back, stowing his spellbook as he does so, before falling into the rhythmic chanting of spellcasting. As he finishes he points a single finger at the same spider Karthan stuck. An arc of searing flame shoots from the finger, striking the beast, then spreading to also engulf the other two as well.

Karthan quickly reloads his musket and moves slightly farther away from the hideous fangs and fires again.

Rose Waerloga |
Rose is going to cast Enlarge Person on Ealasaid, hoping it lasts through the entire fight next turn.
"Relax, darling, you'll be fine. Just don't bang your head on the ceiling.", says Rose, mid-chant.
