Thanks again Magnum. What is his feel on not being included in the remaining share of the treasure?

Well here is the breakdown excluding Mangum but including Big Mug:

Total sell value of all items is 264981.5gp which is 33122.69 per person. If Big Mug is not included then it is 37854.5 for each person.

If we remove the spade and the staff the total sell value is 170181.5 which equals 21272.69 gp in value for each. If Bigmug is not allowed a share, then the value for each is 24311.64.

Hope this helps:

Magnum was supposed to get a double share, but still comes out ahead with the hammer--so he is taken care of.

Big Mug pretty much works on tips. Buying him a mithral suit of full plate is probably sufficient at the first opportunity. A cloak of resistance is the least you can do for him for now.

The humans were seen gathering outside the door from the newly found collapsible observation tower.

Gnome Fey-Blood Sorcerer/4 | AC 15/15/13 [19/15/17 with MA] +4 vs Giant type; HP 26/26; F/R/W 3/4/6 +2vs illushns; Prcp +4; Init +6;

Totally up for buying Big Mug whatever he needs, can be done out of a party kitty perhaps, which is something we should keep anyway. If we decide to keep the staff and spade, those can be included in that as well.

It's not a big deal to me either way, but just to give an alternate viewpoint, the 'dwarven treasure splitting way' is not exactly fair, as those who get items have a significant advantage over those who get treasure in compensation, because those people will then have to but items at full price, while the others got them for 50%. Just sayin'.

Maybe to try and account for that we can try and make sure everyone gets at least a similar share of items and loot combined?

(Just in case that wasn't clear here's an example: Let's say Kib gets his entire share, 24,311 worth, all in items and receives no cash. That means he's actually getting 48,622 worth of items, whereas opposed to someone who needs to buy all their items, like say Ninni for example, who only has 24K to spend on them. )

Kibblepep has a good point.
Lucky the four daggers are there, they are useful to anyone--preference should probably go to the nonmartial weapon users.
One could argue Ninni could use a defending dagger to great advantage.

Gnome Fey-Blood Sorcerer/4 | AC 15/15/13 [19/15/17 with MA] +4 vs Giant type; HP 26/26; F/R/W 3/4/6 +2vs illushns; Prcp +4; Init +6;

Or, we could just count items at their full value??

That is up to Brask. Rock found counting items at their full value hurts the party because then the individual will want to spend for the perfect item and bypass an OK item. Example: Dwarf fighter wants a +1 war axe, but a +1 morningstar comes along that is almost as good. If it costs him full value he says pass, the party sells it back for half, and the dwarf fighter buys what he wants. In the long run the party is not as strong as it is when individuals are rewarded for picking items out of the loot pile at half price.

As dwarves are typically greedy, rewarding them for helping the party worked, that is why Rock established the dwarven treasure-splitting 'rule'.

If the Paizo economy was better constructed and all items were always worth their gp value, full value would make more sense. But we all know they are not. A wand of cure lights has more value than the equivalent cost in Cure Serious Wound Potions.

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

Agree with you for the most part Kib but like Chainmail says if you sell items to get the gp then you can choose which items you want and to customize yourown equipment. Some people prefer that over having a higher value of items that they can't use to the fullest.

Ideally everyone gets the items that they would like and can use (which goes against their share) and the rest is sold and the gp split out accordingly.

If we buy bigmug the mithral full plate and he gets 1 of the cloaks we split the rest and everyone will get a new total of 22740. Or we just leave the remainder of Bigmug's share in a community pot (my preference) for contingencies or wand of healing and such.

If it matters to Brask, I would vote to sell the staff back to the dwarves and keep the spade. That way if we need it in the future we have access to it. If this is the way Brask and Thograt suggest then I will redo the numbers including the armor for Bigmug and the rest going to a community pot.

(edit) crap just realilzed the numbers are wrong anyways as I subtracted the full value of the spade and staff. will fix and update later today.(/edit)

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

New share value update:

Current list is correct up above. Share breakdown is as follows factoring in selling staff to dwarves and keeping the spade ourselves: 32371gp of sell value per party member with Bigmug getting his mithral full plate and a cloak of resistance. 21372 remains in party funds with the spade of excavation.

If we sell the spade as well: each party member gets 500gp more and Bigmug gets to enchant his armor to +1.

If we keep the spade and the staff: each party member gets 27008gp in value Bigmug gets his mithral full plate and there is 27013gp in party fund.

Good Luck Brask.

I'm fine with however Brask decides to roll with it. And hey thanks fr all the math work Kragg

Been quiet but thinking.
We may have to diplomantic parley our way out of here as well as "hire" the human tribe. Points in our favor: Writ of Possesion, TribalHonor, Diplomatic tokens of value(unusual weapons, raw ingot, broken armor;-)), Opportunity for long term trade of dwarven craft.
Against:Greed (on both sides), outnumbered, and no (in)formal current diplomatic ties.

Recommend we provide a reception of sorts in the inner foyer. The outside foyer can be the filled with residue of skeletons, broken armor/gear and the "necklace". We can present the writ of possession to the chieftain. Let that sink in regarding the ownership and tribalhonor, then make an agreement or negiotate a tentative treaty with diplomatic gifts as immediate incentive.

In the best tradition of Dark Owl, I really think we should offer the dwarven/gnomish homestead an opportunity to benefit from our generosity when they/we so desparately need it. We can do this one of several ways. Organize a caraven to deliver critical and bulk mundane goods. We can pay in advance or upon delivery and bypass within sight of the greedy village on our doorstep.

Got more ideas but will stop.

Male Dwarf Fighter 4

Nice smattering of ideas here, but don't forget we're dealing with a bunch of unwashed barbarians. I expect we'll have to put in some effort to explain them why this is better than simply killing/looting us. I imagine a ritual duel could be involved.

Sczarni

Rogue3/Wiz1 by training, Machiavellian by temperment

Alternately, I still think Dark Owl would never have constructed a bolthole with only one way in/out. If/when we find it, leave the doors wedged, take enough to get what we need, cover our tracks and come back with stronger presence to enforce our claim.

Armoring Bigmug is a priority, so I'm all for getting the big guy mithral full plate, and letting him have a cloak of resistance. If no one wants them, then we'll sell the staff and spade. I'm also fine with having the +1 enchantment coming out of my share if no one wants to take the cut, but we are enchanting it, as well as getting him a nice amulet of natural armor +1.

-Kragg Gets the Maul, since he's the only one who can wield it.
-Khazhad gets the +1 Greataxe, as much as I want it meself.
-Hon can keep the crossbow, I prefer longbows, and that's just what I'm getting when I get a chance.
-Scrolls go to whoever can use them.
-I want an elven cloak and a mithral shirt

Divvy up the rest and we'll get everyone nice and even when we get back to the stronghold.

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

For right now we should have Kib and Ninni each take a defending dagger in case we have to fight our way out of here. That will give them a bit more protection.

Sczarni

Rogue3/Wiz1 by training, Machiavellian by temperment

Concur with Kragg RE: defending daggers to Kib and Ninni.
I'd even recommend they take the other daggers as well, if not Hon "the packrat/skillmonkey" will take them.

A visit to the Marketplace and a couple of fences for "tools of the trade" would do wonders for our survival as a team.

Still learning your style of DMing Chainmail. Adjustments made.

Kragg, it appears you are now the dwarven quartermaster.
If you can assign items to players on the item list, we will get everyone ready to move out. Ninni hasn't posted in a while, but give her a defending dagger and cloak of resistance.
Give Brask all the arrows for now, as he is the obvious bowman. The party will be heading back to the dwarf home base first as you know the way much better. Going "cross country" with a load of loot seems too risky.

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

Very well, a promotion to quartermaster it is. I will have the list sorted and divided out later. If any recommendations please give them. Otherwise I will just assign stuff based on usability and need. I'll also try to make sure everyone has an item from the better group of items.

Another music link. Much more current than the last one. Feel free to roleplay it up as much as you like. Discovering epic treasure and reading about past dwarf heroes and meeting dwarven gods doesn't happen every day :-)

If you don't want to carry the items then I suggest saying now that they are in one of the chests.

This is just the quick breakdown for leaving the site. A final dispersement when entail once we get back home and decide what we are selling. This is particularily true of the staff as it alone is more than any 1 share and makes it hard to divide evenly. So Kib right now has more than his share of the loot until we sell the staff.

Chainmail:
Am I restricted to the core rule book when selecting feats and spells? For example selective channeling from the APG would be really handy for fighting live folks. I'm happy with whatever you decide
I'm going to try and focus on ranged spell casting and using buff spells to aid the party rather than trying to hit things with an axe. However I like the items that you've assigned to Thograt and I'm going to take the tower shield proficiency.

EDIT: Sorry Brask for handing over the leadership. It seemed you were out posting me quite a bit and I thought it would be better for the game.

EDIT TWO: 3rd level HP roll: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

Thanks thograt. I know the pricing is off right now but that will be fixed later once items are sold and people indicate what they want.

edit: I thought we took the (1/2HD+1)+con approach for our hit points??

Thograt, since you don't want to try the melee route, feel free to change from the war domain. You might find another better suited to this role (artifice/good domain). Khazad and Kragg are going to be scary up front now.

Wow check out that diplomacy roll !!

I actually think the War domain is great! It's got a good buffing power for my allies and great spells to. When I get my hands on a wand of CLW I can free up more spells :)

Keeping the melee option gives me something to do when I run out of other things to do.

Congrats on the promotion Kragg and great list!

All looks good to me except that, if there are no objections, I would ask that, if the decision is made to keep the staff, that it, like the spade, be relagated to chest and not Kib's personal possessions as it is something that he will rarely if ever has use of and doesn't really need or want. He just happens to be the only one who can use it at present, like Kragg and the spade.

Oh, also you can consider that literally in the chest as well as he won't be carrying it.

Before you thank me you will find the dwarves have limited exotic items. You cannot just buy anything here. You will probably be able to sell anything here, but buying things will be a problem. Although you found a huge treasure, the dwarves are all about paying your dues. Many of the dwarves feel you don't deserve items worth less than half the average wealth for your level (I gotta throw some Paizo balance back in the game somehow).

The trip to the black market by the main human supply depot for all northern military operations has a much greater selection. Those mercenary humans care less for your pedigree and more about the color of your money.

For a 5% fee the dwarven money changers can change any gold to platinum or gems. The two expensive metals the dwarves will buy for full price. It appears they have strong antimagic properties and are highly valued. They are the only items they will pay 'full value' for. Crafting items from these metals takes ten times the normal crafting time, so they are not easy to do and only attempted by master smiths.

Male Dwarf Fighter 4

Huh? Don't the dwarves need the adamantium and mithril? EDIT: Or was that what you meant by 2 expensive metals? :S
On a side note, we didn't get any silver/cold iron bars, right?

Mithril items and steel alloy items (3/4 weight of normal and half the bonuses of mithril) are fairly common. The volcanic glass and darker metal are the antimagic metals that are exotic and definitely of interest, hence the full value purchase.

Does this mean that we shouldn't have items that are half or more of our WBL? Just trying to clarify so I know what is expected for dividing the loot later. Again sounding like a broken record, will follow what Brask and Rock decide.

The gold, silver and platinum bars are still at full value correct? The only adjustment is the sell value of the steel and mithral bars.

Ha! Hon ain't giving up his share due to treasure envy. He'll keep pocket money but is thrifty.

Spoiler:
He will divvy up excess wealth to certain sectors (guild dues, law enforcment goodwill, specialized training:Linguistics, tradecraft) as an investment and potential partnerships; ie silent partner and seed money for a couple of gnomish projects. He'll just have receipts and contracts. Stimulating the long term economy. Can't steal gold if it is already spent. All about risk reduction!

Gnome Fey-Blood Sorcerer/4 | AC 15/15/13 [19/15/17 with MA] +4 vs Giant type; HP 26/26; F/R/W 3/4/6 +2vs illushns; Prcp +4; Init +6;

Haha Love it Hon!

Kib might have a jewelry venture or two he's been thinking of expanding (if only the two got along better)

Plus he's already figuring on how to make those special metals into some killer jewelry! A dwarf would pay much more for a ring set with precious metal-I'm thinking Owl Motiffs may just suddenly start becoming all thye rage- over a gemstone any day! (so yes, he will likely be asking for a bar or two each of the precious metal for his own personal use taskmaster Kragg)

Sorry, by full value I mean twice the value Kragg has on his sheet, resale value for everything else.

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

Thanks for the clarification Chainmail. What are we all willing to sell to the dwarves. I figure sell what we can to them and buy from the humans what we want later.

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

I will try and have a final tally of the items amount and dispersement ready on Tuesday 10:00PM CST. Please let me know before then if you want a specific item in the loot. Some have already responded and thanks but al imput is helpful as I will try to allocate the final items again by want, need, and approximate cost.

Items currently claimed:
Brask: cloak +1, cloak elven kind, mithral shirt light fortification
Hon: Repeating Crossbow, cloak +1, cloak elven kind
Kib: arcane srolls, arcane wand, defending dagger, 1 bar of each material
Kragg: Urgrosh, cloak +1, cloak elven kind, bars of material
Thograt: +1 waraxe, +1 tower shield, divine scrolls, divine wand, +1 mithral chainshirt
Ninni: Cloak +1, claok elven kind, defending dagger
Khazad: cloak +1, Greataxe, +1 full plate
Bigmug: cloak +1, gp to purchase mithral full plate (10500gp)

Right now it seems silly to sell the spade adn staff as we can sell those later if we wish. Also, the bars of special material are up for grabs as wealth if you want them. Just letting you know as Kragg will be try to claim at least 1 of the bars for his own for future purchases.

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

I have the loot sorted out. Nothing is really sold except the metal bars and the greatclub. Everything else is parcelled out to do with as you want. Therefore if you want to keep the item go ahead otherwise you can choose to sell them yourselves. Along with the items, the following people get:

  • Khazad 8 bars of platinum and 31.44 in coins
  • Thograt 8 bars of platinum, 1000 gp in gems, and 35.44 in coins
  • Hon 6 bars of platinum, 1000gp in gems, and 66.44 in coins
  • Kib 1100gp in gems, and 15.44 in coins
  • Kragg 1400gp in gems and 55.44 in coins
  • Ninni 165.44 in coins.

Everyone should have the same amount. The exception is Brask who is over by 8gp but that is taken out of the general pot. Speaking of which, BigMug has his armor and cloak of protection factored in already. I also took the cost of exchanging the remaining silver and gold into gems out of the general fund. The general fun has 16267.88 worth of gems and coins along with the staff and the spade.

It will replace the mundane daggers he currently possesses.

Not to ruin your ideas Hon, but each dagger is 16000gp. The only reason that Kragg and Thograt got them was to balance out the wealth so everyone has as many items before I started dividing the plat bars and the gold. If you have the 16000 Kragg will gladly sell the dagger to you.

I did not know the details, thank you Kib. I was concerned that Hon did not have any Magic weapons should the need arise, despite Thograts diplomany skillz. The +3 crossbow (distance, repeating) alleviates this somewhat.

There were two mithral shirts. I'll assume Brask has the +3 Fortification and Hon has the "mundane" Mithral. He'll need it moreso than I.

RE the daggers of icy touch and flaming touch: Ahhh, these are a bit expensive. Perhaps Hon could work out an arrangement for futuretrade/lease/ownership? Perhaps not?

Hon would shrug his shoulders regarding the Dwarven chalet and barbarian-occupied estate. As he is currently still using his non de plume not his family name, there will be a designated authorized middledwarf. Better served as leased ambassadorial space, I reckon that a token fee with increased clan status/personal network would be satisfactory. He is also pragmantic about one lone dwarf removing a tribe of barbarian squatters.

Male dwarf Cleric 7 Holy Vindicator 1 hp 61. saves 10/4/13 AC 23/11/23 Current:28

Actually Kib the glass bars and the black material are worth twice that amount to the dwarves. Thus I am taking a risk on holding 2 of the black bars don't go down in value. If they do, then I will end up losing 1000gp of value in the long run. This is a risk I am willing to take if it allows me to get adamantine armor later.

Ah, ok, was just re-posting from Chainmail's post.

Speaking of, Chainmail, will there be a chance Kib will have a chance to create some jewelry in the near future, to recap the cost of the bars?

@Hon: Well I'm all for keeping the dagger in the party as its only worth half to sell. I wanted to pick up a wand of cure moderate wounds and possibly a better axe perhaps. If you give me 2700 now that's all I'd need to get a +2 axe (possibly a +1 shock waraxe.) and the wand.

Sczarni

Rogue3/Wiz1 by training, Machiavellian by temperment

@Thograt: Done. So bar of Platinum (100 pp coins x (1pp=5gp)x 6 bars)=3000gp. I am 2700 poorer or +3 Icy Touch Dagger richer.

Wait aren't platinum pieces worth ten gold? Pg 140.

I have posed the fifty ton gate falling on the half-plate armor question on the boards. I may be wrong on this one and have to give back one of Hon's nine lives :-)

Magrim still intercedes to undo the gas trap from springing, but those upstairs would have been in no danger if the armor just crumples. I worked with engineers in a metal fatigue lab, but not enough to be sure.

The forum consensus is armor would crumple and not shatter even when subject to massive force--Hon is awarded his Luck of Stonecrusher feat back and given style points for sacrificing dwarven armor to bring forth a dwarven diety.

I did not put up a tirade and accepted the original ruling. You have garnered Playa Cred for the consideration alone; that you have ruled in my favor well that is bonus!
Thank you.

1)How is it that with +11, I still only get 13 for stealth? [/whine]
2)Does each square =5'? I need to know
a) if crossbow is suitable range;
b) Quick dwarven sprint through the snow to seek position.
3) Any cover/concealment? ie tree, snow covered brush, or just flat wind-blown snow covered clearing.

Squares are 5' - difficult terrain, windblown snow. No concealment, a featureless plain. The repeating crossbow has double range increments (160' vs 80'). If you want to take an advance on your soon to be 3rd level feat, you can take exotic weapon, repeating crossbow. That would simulate practice with it in the dwarven hold.

At high levels the lack of a need to reload becomes useful.

The sentries with PC have partial concealment.
