"Permission granted sir. I believe our quartermaster also wishes to offer you a drink in welcome." Malevor says more jovially now that he knows who he's dealing with.

Rickety's launch comes alongside, and he climbs aboard, along with 6 of his men. After trying a bit of Rogar's drink, he begins to check out the ship, with the help of some of his men.

"So, a full squib eh? I could do it for 2200 gold. If you want, I could stick a hidey hole in her over there, where you could smuggle a bit, maybe 500 good extra?"

Chaenath listens to Ethron's with some confusion.

You people do it horizontally?. So very odd and then walks off below decks.

And that's about as bawdy as it's going to get folks

Alessandra:
You determine that Rickety is not entirely happy with having been insulted and threatened by the crew of the Man's Promise and her Captain, and that you are likely paying slightly increased rates because of this.

@Chaenath - fear not, I've no intent to run anything beyond a PG or PG-13 rated game here.

Chaenath - your posts make me laugh. Thank you.

Alessandra raises an eyebrow at the price. Motioning surreptitiously for Sandara to join her (basically she's to stand in front of him and look good: she does it much better than Alessandra, to the girl's - slight - annoyance; but then Sandara can't kill people as effectively...), she draws the man away from the more... fractious members of her team. Ensuring that he has enough of Doc's rum to keep him company, she addresses him anew. "Alright? Sorry 'bout the mess earlier, we're new to the whole officer thing, we can be a bit jumpy about it. No offence meant - 'sobvious that a fine seadog like yourself is someone to be treated with respect, right? Honestly, any advice you've got on how to survive would be welcome: we need all the friends we can get - and speaking of which - is there any chance you could give us a more... friendly price?"

She gives him a friendly smile, and encourages Sandara to do the same.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.

Even without Sandara's assistance, Alessandra does manage to persuade rickety to be more friendly towards the ship and its crew. He thaws a bit, and states, "well, shall we call it 2000 then, and I can do the hidey hole for you without an increase in the price."

The half-orc girl nods her head cockily at Rickety, and marches him over to see the wealth (including the various magic items) they've accumulated - more than enough to pay for the work they want done, whether it's just the 'squibbing' or something more thorough (yet to be decided upon).

That done, she marches ashore with the others to see exactly what this place holds. Splashing around the plunder they've accumulated, and giving a few stories - and rather more snarls - she tells anyone who'll listen (and if they won't, she makes them listen) about their adventures: how they won their freedom from Harrigan's first mate and his loathsome cronies, plundered an entire colony of grindylows and generally engaged in badassness.

By the time the day is over, no one should be in any doubt that there's a new ship in the Shackles - and the Chimera and her crew are not to be messed with by anyone.

Rogar walks to the Commons, in mission to find buyers for their loot. Once preliminary deals are done, he sends for crew member to fetch the treasures from the ship.

The highlight of the day comes after that. Being a dutiful dwarf, Rogar conducts business before pleasure. On your second day at Rickety's, several of you accept the opportunity to play at a game of ninepins in the shade of the boathouse, and ther rest come to watch. The locals have had a keg of beer cooling off in the waters of the estuary overnight.

When you arrive at the boathouse, you find a half-dozen locals setting up the game and another pair are working to pull up the rope attached to the keg of beer in the water. As the endeavor involves beer, Ethron offers to give them a hand in retrieving their bounty. However, just before Ethron gets his hands on the rope, it jerks taut quickly. The man who was holding the rope is jerked into the water with a scream, and the woman falls back with the palms of her hand burned and bloody where she had been holding the line.

When Ethron feels the rope go taut and sees the man get pulled in, he doesn't hesitate! "Hang on!!" Ethron dives in, drawing his rapier as he moves off the pier.

Time for the convoluted and crazy part of my plan.

Ethron doesn't have Know: Dungeoneering, so that's not gonna help him. Ethron's gonna try and jump right on top of this creature, attempting to grapple it. Regardless of what happens, Ethron's gonna activate his Judgement. While it doesn't say in the description, can the GM rule that the Judgement of Justice, which grants a +1 to attack rolls, also grants a +1 to Combat Maneuver checks? If not, I'll go with the Judgement of Protection for +1 AC.

    Rolls for trying to grapple it: Grapple Attempt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 +1 if allowing Judge o/Justice.

In general, anything that gives a bonus to attack, should help your CMB, so no problem there. Of course a 10 is a bit low to succeed, but it looked heroic!

    Ethron takes:

DON'T make Alessandra dive in to rescue you - trust me, you'll never hear the end of it :)

Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Finally! The sting of the poison hurts, but Ethron keeps his pain under control.

Swim: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 Ethron heads for the surface to get some air (so less than 5 foot swim) and to get back at the creature.

    To Hit+Judge: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 17
    Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Ethron's head emerges back from under the water, and takes a deep breath, but his swing at the creature misses.

With the bombs, the splashing and her general concern for her team mates in the water, Alessandra's arrows don't go anywhere near where she wants them to. She snarls in frustration; it's a savage sound.

Alessandra shoots the creature with her second arrow.

While the party is battling the watery snake creature, the dockworkers have tossed a line out to the one who got yanked into the water and are working him to safety.

    The creature attacks Malevor again:

    DMG: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5

Keeping himself afloat with ease, Ethron takes another stab at the beast.
