i think he just wants the hooks spelled out for ease of access for later usage.

Glad to see Bydar made the semi-finals :)

If you need anything expanded on Aerandir, let me know. I love Pathfinder but I do not know the Golarion setting very well.

Kata laughs hysterically, the protectiveness of her cousin and adrenaline of the fight boiling her blood. More bandits at the door? One drops as Loriel's shot drops the first. Kata weaves her hands rapidly, chanting softly in the tavern. Some else's laughter fills her mind for a moment and then something releases inside her. Arkady suddenly grows to scrape the ceiling of the tavern, his bulk completely blocking the door from the next wave of bandits. "Now that's a distraction. Finish them Arkady!"

Backstory, hooks and reason now in profile. Hope a little fey mystery fits in.

GENERAL INFORMATION
====================
Full name: Marcus Lanatov
Race: Human
Classes/levels: Rogue (Sanctified Rogue) 1
Gender: Male
Size: Medium
Age: 31
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Deity: Abadar
Languages: Common, Celestial, Draconic, Infernal

Description:
Marcus is a non-descript individual who serves the church of Abadar as a spy, scout and information broker. His auburn hair is cropped close to his skull and he bears no distinguishing scars or birthmarks.

Most often, he is dressed in a traveller's outfit which covers his leather armor and weaponry. When involved on a specific mission, then he forgoes the outfit in order to give himself full mobility.

Personality:
Marcus is usually upbeat and humorous although this persona melts away while he is 'on a job'. When it comes to combat, Marcus usually attempts to engage his enemies from afar, using the element of surprise and his light crossbow to eliminate problems before they escalate. If pressed on an attack, he'll fall back to using a short sword and try and put some room between him and his assailant.

Background:
Marcus was born to the streets in New Stetven, a gutter snipe from birth. For the first seven or eight years of his life, Marcus would assist in various scams run by his family. However, their actions did not go unnoticed. The Church of Abadar took offense when one scam robbed the Church of a significant sum of taxes days prior to Taxfest.

Inquisitors were dispatched and it took them less than a week to track the family down and arrest them. Fortunately for Marcus, the chief Inquisitor took pity on the youngster and instead of languishing in prison he found a place for Marcus in the church. At first, Marcus rebelled against his new 'family' but as the years passed he slowly came to accept that the church was a better place to be and the Church recognised that the talents he had learnt in his youth could be put to good effect.

Marcus found himself working with the Inquisitorial arm of the Church, acting as an information broker and scout. He found a new purpose in life and dedicated himself to its pursuit.

In the past few months, however, Marcus has found his life's direction beginning to fade following the unexpected death of his mentor. Now, the Church requires a representative on a new expedition into the Stolen Lands and Marcus appears to be the ideal candidate. Able to think on his feet and make tough decisions on the spot, the Church has procured a spot for Marcus on the expedition team. He is to act as an independent agent, reporting back to the Church once a month with their progress. The Church intends to direct the growth of this new kingdom and need eyes and ears on the inside.

------------

Hook #1: Marcus' family are still alive. Some may have escaped into the Stolen Lands and lived as brigands. This could lead to a conflict of interests.

Hook #2: Marcus is expected to report to his superiors in the Church of Abadar weekly. Failure to do so might result in Inquisitors being dispatched.

Reason for not returning: Marcus feels a lot of loyalty to the Church for having pulled him up from where he was. He can't go back on his word to help rebuild the Stolen Lands into a lawful kingdom.

Apologies for the Wall o' Text but I can't spoiler the lot because of how the sheet is laid out and I don't want to use another alias unless chosen.

This is exactly what I'd like. Your hooks are fine, I just like to be able to get them at a glance.

Currently Accepted List:
Retsiji
Liam
Bydar
Cedrica
Rianorix
Loriel
Aerandir
Arkady
Kata
Marcus
Kheldor

Still waiting on Things from:
Vash'Thuel
Tessara

Ugh. A list of 11 I have to narrow to 4. Not looking forward to that bit.

I modified Aerandir's profile with a writing sample.

less than 12 hours to go...

Unfortunatly I don't have time to trim Tessara the way I want so I'm going to have to bow out. I might follow this to see how it develops though.

Liberty's Edge

Yo Ryuko, mind if I toss something up?

Np. Recruiting hasn't closed yet

Sorry about the last minute submission.
May I present Anton Domnoff Lebeda Half-Orc Cleric of Gorum, the Iron Lord?

All stats and background are in the profile. WARNING background contains a scene of violence and violation.

I do need to make note of a few points. This character is a minor rewrite of a character played on these boards (Zaxarii) till that thread died when the DM stopped posting without explanation. It was Brevoy set but not a Kingmaker game. I have lurked and applied to other Kingmaker threads so have some knowledge of early events but will soon run out of what I know. I am in one live campaign on these boards also not Kingmaker related. Please browse any of my aliases and my posts for examples of play and writing.

I took Issarian noble as the regional trait for Brevoy, it is a bit different than Noble House Lebeda from the Kingmaker Player's Guide. I like it better for this character but if you wish I will change it to the one in the KPG. I will make any other adjustments you desire as well.

This is meant to be a fairly straight forward, uncomplicated character; it is generally easier to add than subtract complexity. Also simple is not the same as unsubtle.

Plot hook one: Politics, Brevoy's nobles and swordlords, temples of Gorum and Abadar, other realms, religions and peoples. By Gorum, can I get away from politics? (No, actually.) House Lebeda has it's own agenda, its common cause with the Abadarites and his different faith combine to leave him useful and, depending on how close to heirship you will let him be, dangerous as well. Anton is not that interested but other people are interested in him, at least how he can be used to their advantage.

Plot hook two. Daddy's probably dead of old age by now, if not of battle but other members of the tribe, brothers and other can show up for their purposes. Other Half orcs, Brevoy's a nicer place then most for them but a new land to live, grow, crush? Very attractive.

No return: Well let's see. New lands to battle for and call his own, dragged from the cold dead hands of both worthy and unworthy foes in glorious battle or mope around the temple just another half-orc warrior of high birth but no proven worth. Also mother's back there! Hell no, by Gorum's Bloody B-(censored for family viewing) I am not going back! Battle and conquer the Stolen Lands or die trying.

Heh, let the countdown begin and all that. Honestly though there are a lot of really nice submissions. Even if I'm not chosen to play I'll be following the game just to see how these characters develop.

Looks pretty good. Anton Lebeda is approved.

I'll be moving the submission date forward to 7 PM (Roughly 80 minutes from now) as a few plans moved around. Didn't figure this would change much, but I apologize if it does.

Scarab Sages

Are there any more open spots by chance? I would love to have a chance to participate in this one.

Oh, all my plans have now come to naught! Not really though and I don't think it should hurt anyone else either.

This looks very promising. Honestly I feel a little underdeveloped in comparison to some of you other candidate characters. Regardless of the results, I have faith in this game turning out awesome in the finest of ways.

CuttinCurt, submissions close in half an hour so if you can throw something together by then you'll be in the running at least

Liberty's Edge

The heavy rending of metal was swiftly followed by the sound of a blade meeting flesh and bone. The murder of crows above fluttered about, but came to rest moments later. The bandit before him fell, lifeless, to the ground. Taking a few breaths to wait for certainty's sake, Kastus of Rostland wiped the blood from his blade. Clean once more, the large sword was swiftly stowed back in its leather adorned scabbard upon the man's back. Metallic scale shifted and clinked as he did so, and continued as Kastus began to dig through the dead man's pockets. "I guess the stories were right. They really do need people to clear this place of idiots. Lucky me I wandered into that tax office by mistake!"

Kastus of Rostland, warrior by trade, was raised on the long plains south of Restov. His home life could be said to be simple enough. What more is there to say about a farmer's son, except that they generally do not wish to grow up to be farmers? The same is true of Kastus. While his father was busy with the fields, Kastus would practice with sticks, and eventually small logs. When his nameday came, Kastus left for the city of Restov with his father's old war sword. Hoping to enter the Aldori school, he was given a swift thrashing at his entrance test, and a scant few words of encouragement. Never one to pity himself, Kastus set out finding a school that fit his own style. The answer to his search was that no one really taught undisciplined farm hands the sword. At that point, Kastus gave up looking for a teacher and simply looked for work. It was here that his fortunes turned. While no one might teach the sword to farmhands, plenty were willing to pay for another strong body with a metal stick to stand around and guard things.

Far from his dream, Kastus spent years working odd jobs. It wasn't until he stumbled drunkenly into a tax office that he heard about the expedition. Hoping he had finally found a way to put his self-taught skills to a real test, he signed on.

Plot Hook 1: Kastus has made many enemies over the years, mostly from rival mercenaries and thieves. Most particularly is the Company of the Black Lantern, a group of unscrupulous thugs and lowlifes who will do any job that pays well. Kastus left their leader with a face-rending scar at their last meeting, and he is still out for blood.

Plot Hook 2: His father, having gotten tired of waiting for his son to wise up and come back home, has sent out men to find and forcefully return his son, no matter the circumstances.

A Reason to Never Look Back: This might be the only opportunity Kastus has to finally prove that he can wield a sword with the best of them, to make a legend for himself. Even if he isn't a swordlord, at least somebody will respect him when this is all over with.

Kastus lacks crunch but I'll let him pass since I'm closing now.

SUBMISSIONS ARE OFFICIALLY CLOSED!!

We'll see what 4 I choose in the next few minutes. Choosing fingers, AWAY!!

Liberty's Edge

Have crunch in progress, tossed fluff up so he'd be somewhat in the running, sorry! I'll put it up after I get back from my work meeting.

It's no problem buddy, I understand.

EDIT: So far I'm down to 10... damn I hate this part.

The job of whitling down applicants is not to be envied.
