Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

Unless otherwise noted, I assume everyone brings all of their equipment with them, for better or for worse. If it is noted in your character sheet, then certain items can be held at home, or only brought in certain scenarios. As it is a small item, and one that could be concealed or used for entertainment, I would say you could even have it on your person and not stored in the coat room.

Post will be up later today.

Final posts are up. Dice gods were not on your sides for this one.

Oh hell no...

No...

If she had just made it one more round she would have made it.
One. More. Round.
Hell, if I had been one level higher and had second level spells I could have saved her even with that...
...
I actually don't know what to post...

This might be a weird time but Marcus, your flask functions on a 1d6, not a 1d4.

Here, have a link.

It's ok, him having the item at all is a small secret,
Uugh, I still can't think of what to post, this is so frustrating, this never happens to me when Roleplaying (it does sometimes when writing solo but never rp) usually the characters just write themselves now I got nothing it's like... [lightbulb]he's in shock[/lightbulb]
Uugh no wonder I'm at a blank, Marcus is similarially speechless
Hmm but why is he in shock, he just met the woman... Lost opportunities? Maybe that's part of it, but not all hmm
Ha! Post incoming soon!

I didn't originally intend to roll poison damage/forts and instead was going to kill her by DM fiat. Glad I changed my mind though, and if you save her it might end give an "ending" to the first party that I didn't see coming.

I'm similarly glad. It's harder hitting when we know we had a chance to help and just couldn't do it. For Raphael at least, he will probably take this a personal failing. He should have been able to help her and stop the poison. Perhaps even catch the poisoning before it started.

@Marcus: I had to think for a while before I figured out Raphael's response. He didn't now her personally, but he did know of her (31 on his knowledge of her). For her to die in so brutal a fashion right in front of him is shocking. She was young and vigorous in a setting where you wouldn't expect anyone to die. She's a reminder of mortality and of the dangers lurking in the shadows.

I would have posted sooner but the power went out,

I will say this much, this has significantly changed what he'll be doing on his off week

Would she have survived if she had an extra +2 on her saves? Because if so my character's sister would have quickly removed her robe and laid it on top of her.
Now that I think about it, if I (out of character) knew about it, I would have had her do it even if it hadn't worked,

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

I would say that you could check her rolls to see how she did, but there are other important rolls in there as well that I can't have you seeing yet.

With a Con of 13, it was an uphill battle. Her Con damage went from 13->8, 8->6, 6->2, 2->1 in the first four rounds. After healing from Marcus and Eduard, it went up to 7. At this point, it was entirely a chance game. 2d6 con damage averages to 7, and at this point she had a 15/36 chance of living.

As for her saves, she was never that close. As it deals con damage, the more she was poisoned, the less likely she would be able to make the saves. Black Lotus Extract is some scary stuff.

The rolling of the poison made the situation even more intense and interesting. And I do like the different reactions and how this is playing out, each person doing what they can to help the situation.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

I too enjoyed the poison rolls. Even made me think of what would happen if she lived, which I never gave thought to at all before. This New Year's Event is the inciting incident of the story and creates the context for the first and possibly second arc of the story. That said, had Abigal lived, it would have been largely fine. I'd probably have given the players who helped a campaign trait for a +2 diplomacy bonus to Galatians.

Addressing something that came up: In terms of "raise dead," very few people have access to such spells, and even fewer are authorized to use them. Most level 9+ arein significant places of power. I believe two headmasters of the Society are, three members of the guard and a couple members of council are of this power. In terms of Divine magic, the nations Divine Advisor and the Archdruid at the Botanical Gardens is all that Roland has capable of casting 5th level spells. Hauteclere would have a few more from its divine focus.

Some people have set levels. For instance, Magical Advisor to the nation Cornelius Voidwalker is, and always will be, a 15th level Wizard. Some have growth, having a "base" level and improving as the players get stronger. For some this is 1:1, always growing with the players. Rivals and up-and-coming nobles may have this (Estelle, Emile). Other may have slow growth if already present+trained (Ernest, Sinclair), or even rapid growth if introduced later or of lower level now (Reyes (introduced later), Caroline).

I've been looking for a way to deal with death in the game. When everyone has money, what is to stop everyone from being revived? While there are ways to stop Raise Dead or Resurrection, I've been thinking on what effects death and rebirth may have on a noble. Been playing on the idea of forfeiting ones claim to the throne if Galatian, or having inheritance go into affect and you are reborn without possessions and wealth, no longer head of the family. Also, I guess with a focus on a sorcerer bloodline, they wouldn't have much divine magic to begin with.

While I am here, I should do a dice roll. Don't worry about it.

Shadow Lodge

I think that the webcomic "girl genius" handles death pretty well, though they use mad science instead of magic
In that setting if you die and are brought back, you're essentially out of the long of succession, but will go back into it, if all other people with any claim whatsoever are also dead,
The thing is, that only counts if people actually know that you died
The two primary rulers of the area that most of the story takes place in, klaus and Gilgamesh (father and son) have both died more than once, but few know about it, and even fewer would dare call them on it.

I think I might have found a theme song I like for Seth.
Here it is

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

I am 100% for Mobile Suit Gundam Player theme songs. It has the right level of fanfare and excitement. One of my in-person players has used one before. Fire Emblem themes were popular among my old group too.

It's strange hearing that Emile is suspicious, even though I guess he totally is. I kind of forget the whole "office of tracking everyone and everything" he has going. He is probably the character that is most like me, or at least comes the most naturally or with least effort. Not going to give that one too much thought.

I was tempted to go for fire emblem music, especially Path of Radiance. I played that game too much, but there is so much music to choose from. I went through at least 20 or so Gundam OST songs to decide. I was close to choosing this one this one but decided against it because the other one just felt better

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

Ike's Theme from Radiant Dawn was actually the theme to one of my players, and Stratagem in Black Armor remains as the theme song to the Warden of the Guard, Councilman Menos Bissette. Path of Radiance was my first FE game, so it has a special place in my heart. That said, after the great new mechanics introduced in Awakening, I don't think I could go back into it without a bit of skepticism.

Going for some posts up later tonight, if not tomorrow afternoon. Also want to go through my NPCs and give them titles on their aliases.

Edit: Did alias work real quick. Now most NPCs have a cute little title to summarize them. Mostly spoiler free, obviously if they had hidden intentions I wouldn't reveal it through that.

For those mercenary and fighter types, you might consider Rise by Origa, the theme song of Ghost in the Shell Anime series.

Some of the early lyrics are in Russian, but there is a translation link here.

I always liked these verse lyrics:

Save your tears

when the pain is far behind
on your feet
come with me
we are soldiers stand or die

Save your fears
take your place
save them for the judgement day
fast and free
follow me

Actually rewatching GITS now, was so excited when my girlfriend said that she hasn't seen it. I've been looking for a reason to rewatch since middle school.

Might be an update On the 22nd (technically today I guess, but I mean later) depending on how much spare time I get. Depending on how busy finals are, posts may decreases in the coming weeks until around May 10th or so. Just a bit of a warning in advanced.

Looking like Friday for the next update, that is a Goldstool promise.

Before I make a false conclusion from something Halcyon observed:

Question for GM:
I am thinking that if the poison was applied to Abigail by someone still in the range of the Locate Object spell, it would have been detected. Since it's a contact poison, it would be impossible to apply it to her without some of it remaining on the gloved hand that applied it or in the vial it was kept in. And since it has a 1 minute onset time, it would not allow enough time to move out of the range of the spell.

If there is anything wrong with the logic and if Halcyon would know, let me know. I don't want to make a pronouncement and find it was a misinterpretation of the events.

If this is true, then I think I have an idea how the poisoning was accomplished, although Halcyon will be very circumspect about sharing this theory.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

To Halcyon:
That is all very sound reasoning. Without the assistance of magic or a magic item hiding/teleporting/disguising et cetera the poison, or without someone touching her with poison and sprinting out of the room as fast as they can, there is next to no way the poison could feasibly be outside of your spells range if the poison was administered a minute before Abigal began feeling its effects.

Update coming later tonight. Unless Caroline has something to say, it may be focused just on the non-bathroom party as you all talk to each other.

Murder brings a party together in such wonderful ways.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

Completely up to you Raphael, didn't want to force you either way. If you choose to go with Val and pals, you can consider yourself there for all the conversations they are conducting. Otherwise, feel free to talk to anyone in the front foyer , or go explore the house, all up to you.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

@Raphael: How you want to do interrogations is up to you. Just tell Helmuth that you would like to question a specific individual and go from there. I plan to do interrogations by asking multiple phases of questions at the same time.

For example, I would conduct one similar to Painlord's Stepping (4.2.2).

The investigator would ask multiple questions, to which the person being asked would answer in sequence. I would end each sequence with the heavy-hitters or lead ins to followup questions. Below I'll illustrate how I'd do it. After such a post, the responder would reply to each numbered prompt, refuse to answer, or interject to go elsewhere.

Possible post up tonight where relevant, else tomorrow evening.

Sleuth of Secrets, Detective Captain Francis Albert | Know Local

The detective takes his seat, staring across from Emile. He reaches into his jacket and puts a variety of potions on the tables. "Make this quick, huh? Got too many questions fer too many people. Take off ya ring, Monsieur de Beaux." He takes a drink of his first potion and starts his examination.

"How'dya know Abigal?" The detective peers at Emile. He watches intently to every move of Emile's face, and listens to each syllable.
(1)

The detective moves to his next question. "An Oracle told ya this would happen, din't she? Did'jya care to listen to what she said?"
(2)

His looks to shirt as he speaks, trying to scratch something off of it. "'Vestigators found poisonous plant's in ya garden. A Lemon Rose. Care to explain?" He stops tending to his outfit, and stares down Emile as he answers.
(3)

The detective jots down a couple notes as Emile speaks. He smiles every once and a while, taking a quick drink of his potion during Emile's last response.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

Keeping me on my toes with all these time switches. I want increasingly more elaborate update times from everyone ;)

Basement floor added to the map. While not necessarily applicable here but a good note for the future, all hidden rooms will be hidden on the map. In the case of space that you know should be filled (Why does this corridor loop around an empty center? Why does this side of the hallway lead nowhere?) I will allow perception checks to notice that all the rooms you've seen don't quite add up to the total space. This is assuming you have seen enough of the surrounding rooms.

In the case of open spaces of undisclosed size, one will only get their check to search for hidden doors if they actively search. If the basement theoretically had a hidden door, it would be such a space.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

For the sake of saving myself creating a new language and for future reference, Old Galatian is simply google translated English to Welsh.

If you know Welsh, I suppose you have earned being able to read Old Galatian, otherwise you can open the spoiler if your character knows it.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

Planning for an update tonight. While you are in the kitchen/with Raphael, Seth, feel free to operate as Lucia.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

Post shall be up later today.

As the future should have intersessions involved, I am probably going to have more of them than I originally anticipated. This campaign structure (party/event/mission to downtime) was originally weekly, with the downtime happening anytime between sessions. As things move slower online (but with so much more detail), I will probably add an additional downtime week per event. Just to give everyone more time to advance their character and personalize their assets outside of the party.

I have a post for Marcus, but it hangs on a question:

On an opposed check, if the results are a tie, who "wins?" I know 3E was by larger modifier, but I am not sure on Pathfinder. It is Perception vs Disguise.

The Exchange

Male Kitsune Bard (thunderstriker) 1

Hmm I'm not actually sure
I think defender, so in this case disguise, but I don't know
Wait, no, that's 5e... I have no idea.

The DC to tell that Marcus isn't human is 39, because he takes twenty on the check ASAP whenever he changes, and then just holds that form, just in case that's what this is about.

female human rogue 2 | hp 18/18, AC 16, touch 13 FF 13 | CMD 14 | Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +0 | Perception +5, Init +3

In Pathfinder, it's meet-or-beat. When you make a Disguise, or a Stealth, or a Bluff, or other such check, it sets the DC for other people to beat. The "attacker", in this case (the Perception user) is the one who wins.

Party Warehouse Map | Second Warehouse Map

Alright, a second part now (and I am trying by no means to target you Marcus).

Alter-self and other magical disguises reduced the time of making a disguise to the spell activation time. Taking 20 assumes that you have room for trial and error, and assumes 2 minutes for a standard check. Can you do one with the other? Would that make casting the spell a two minute affair, or does the single-turn rule overrule the Take 20? I could not find a ruling for this and would like to ask everyone.

Perception vs Disguise only happens when someone is wary or suspicious of someone, and thus far is the only case as such.

Feel free to post before Vincent's roll is decided, but I would like to hear everyone's position on this.
