Ithylia Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
As the half elf appears and begins to attack from behind in the midst of all the confusion, Triel's quick thinking and actions help ensure that his first blows towards Arathorn are thrown off course. Cian's burst of flame takes an upward turn as he is thrown off from the darkness, as it luckily doesn't injure anyone else, but it also doesn't make it's mark. Ithylia makes a quick decision to leave the dark area and move to somewhere in which she hopes she can be more useful.
That's it for the surprise round, everyone post their actions for round one. Initiative order for you all (if it helps tactical planning) is Vanya>Arathorn>Triel>Cian>Ithylia. Triel's darkness now has 9 rounds left.

"Stay calm, Ameiko! Triel will get that baddie!" Vanya tries not to let her sense of panic in the dark overwhelm her, and is relieved as the sphere of darkness leaves her and Ameiko.
Can't do much in the dark, so Delay :/

Round 1: Actions
Standard Action: Use Racial Spell: Faerie Fire on baddie
Triel doesn't understand anything Vanya is saying, but considering she just witnessed Cian miss by a country mile with his magic, she understands what to do next.
She focuses inward, drawing on another inborn spell of hers...
"Зажгите его." She intones, pointing at the enemy through the darkness.
Immediately, the newcomer is outlined in purple... that glows clearly enough that anyone in the darkness can tell where he is.
Triel Siadon |
If you're affected by faerie fire, anyone can target you in the dark. That's my understanding of the spell's effects.
A pale glow surrounds and outlines the subjects. Outlined subjects shed light as candles. Creatures outlined by faerie fire take a -20 penalty on all Stealth checks. Outlined creatures do not benefit from the concealment normally provided by darkness (though a 2nd-level or higher magical darkness effect functions normally), blur, displacement, invisibility, or similar effects. The light is too dim to have any special effect on undead or dark-dwelling creatures vulnerable to light.
Essentially, yes--people with low-light vision can see the purple outline.
Arathorn Stryder |
Arathorn pulls his shortbow against his chest, realizing the close proximity to his target.
attack shortbow composite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
damage shortbow composite: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Arathorn curses his luck for allowing another elf to sneak up on him while he was on guard. The bolt does little to no damage to his attacker.
Triel Siadon |
Cian aims a finger at the purple outline and utters his words again.
"SELECTI! IGNIS! JET!"
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage?: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
"An auspicious start to directing Cian, yes?"
DM KLS |
Ithylia Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Ithylia Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
As Arathorn lets loose an arrow towards the half elf, something goes wrong as it misses it's target completely. However, after seeing where the arrow came from the darkness, the half elf narrows in his punch and makes hard contact with the elf. As Triel outlines the half elf with her spell, Cian just barely manages to light him up in flames. In the mean time, Ithylia runs up from behind and whips her scarf at the man. "Stay away from my friends!" she exclaims as the scarf makes contact with him.
Arathorn takes 7 damage, you all have dealt 9 damage. Triel's darkness will last 8 more rounds, her faerie fire will last 9 more rounds. Vanya is on an unexpected delay, so if you wish to act now, I'll put your actions at the beginning of next post. Just make sure you state you round 1 and 2 actions.
Arathorn Stryder |
Arathorn sees his chance to change weapons while the others attack the intruder. He drops his shortbow behind him and quickly reaches for his short sword and schimitar. He holds his short sword at the ready and swings his schimitar at his opponent.
attack schimitar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
damage schimitar: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Triel Siadon |
Standard Action: Throw Flame Jet at baddie
No Action: Step aside so Triel can move forward
Cian keeps throwing his flame jet!
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
He then steps aside.

Round 2: Actions
No Action: 5' step forward
Standard Action: Heal Arathorn
Triel steps forward, bringing her cloud of darkness with her. This time, the half-elf is engulfed by it, but the purple outline around him still goes strong.
She touches Arathorn in the middle of his back. "Продолжать бороться!"
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Unfortunately, it appears that Gorum isn't paying attention to this fight...

As Vanya begins to throw her own flames from above, the half elf dodges both fire and blade as Arathorn's attack misses as well. Continuing with his sense of accomplishment, the half elf continues to assault the darkness, with one of his two fists landing a solid blow to Arathorn as the elf falls to the floor unconscious. As Triel approaches to heal the fallen warrior, Cian's flames miss it's intended target as Vanya's call for flames of the sky manage to finally scorch the half elf.
Rough round. Arathorn takes another 6 damage, and with the aid from Triel, is currently at 0 and conscious, but prone. Triels' darkness has 7 rounds left with her faerie fire at 8 rounds left. Everyone post for Round 3 actions.
Triel Siadon |
Would Ithylia be providing flanking with her bladed scarf if I stepped in and took a swing at him?
Also, did you learn anything about whether or not we gain bonuses to hit from concealment?
Vanyalanthiriel Giliath |
Vanya stumbles her way through the dark towards the hallway, once next to Triel she turns her attention to the illuminated half-elf. With a bold incantation, she drives a vivid blinding wave of color into their attacker.
Move at half speed to preclude an Acrobatics check, get into the hallway with Triel and Arathorn. Unfortunately, Arathorn is going to take the Color Spry, too. DC15 Will for the half-elf attacker and Arathorn...

Round 3 Actions: Cian
Full-Round Action: Double Move around the side to help Ithylia
Cian races around the side to help the bardess with her magic.
Round 3 Actions: Triel
Free Action: Drop greatsword
Move Action: Draw Dagger
Standard Action: Throw dagger at half-elf
Frustrated at Arathorn lying on his back, Triel drops her blade, yanks her knife from her boot and hurls it at the outlined half-elf.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Damage?: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
DM KLS |
Ithylia Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Ithylia Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Arathorn Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
As Arathorn starts to pick himself up, the half-elf shifts back to face his female attacker, delivering a blow to her stomach. As his fists land against Ithylia, a dagger from Triels hand finds itself lodged into the half elf's shoulder as he screams in pain. While Cian moves around to get a better position, Ithylia takes advantage of the moment to make another attack against the man. As Vanya blasts out her stunning display of color, her good intentions fall short as the man is unaffected, but results in Arathorn once again falling to the floor unconscious.
So now we're at the point where if you want him alive, this where you'd want to make sure you don't fully kill him. Ithylia has taken 4 points of damage, and has 2 rounds of her bardic performance left, Triel has 6 rounds of her Darkness and 7 rounds of her Faerie Fire left, and Arathorn is now unconscious for 4 rounds, blinded for 7, and stunned for 8.
