Human

In the kingdom of Talingarde, many crimes may send you to Branderscar Prison, but the sentence has but one meaning. You are wicked and irredeemable. Each of you received the same greeting when you arrived. You were held down by rough hands and branded upon the arm with a runic F. The mark signifies ‘forsaken’ and the painful scar is indelible proof that each of you has betrayed the great and eternal love of Mitra and his chosen mortal vassals.

Condemned, you face at best a life of shackles and servitude in the nearby salt mines. Others might await the “gentle” ministrations of the inquisitors so that co-conspirators may be revealed and confessions extracted. Perhaps, some of you will be spared this ordeal. Perhaps instead you have come to Branderscar to face the final judgment. In three days, the executioner arrives and the axe falls or the pyre will be lit. Through fire or steel, your crimes will be answered.

You have all been chained together in the same communal cell dressed in nothing but filthy, tattered rags. Manhandled and mistreated, any finery you once possessed is either ruined or long lost. No special treatment has been given any prisoner – male or female, commoner or noble – all of the forsaken are bound and imprisoned together. Your feet are secured by iron cuffs tethered by one long chain. Your arms are secured to the wall above by manacles. A guard is posted right outside the cell day and night. Little thought is given to long term accommodations. At Branderscar, justice comes swift and sure.

Escape seems hopeless. You have all been well searched and every attempt to conceal anything on your person has failed. And if you could somehow slip your bonds and fly out of this prison, where would you go? Who from your former life would want anything to do with the forsaken? Despised, alone and shackled – all that you can do now is await your doom.

For each of you, your old life is over. For each of you, hope is a fading memory. For each of you, justice will be fairly meted. And who can blame fair Talingarde after what each of you has done?

You are chained in a line together. legs are all connected to one long chain. Arms are seperately chained to the wall behind. How do you handle your impending doom? Kgo. You can sit or stand but otherwise you are stuck where you are.

GGGGGGGGGRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhh.
A snarling sound seems to come from the deep breast of this woman. A very beautyful woman, even with all the black spots, dirt and dressed in prison rags, her grace is remarkable. At the same time she has something about her that seems odd, you can´t tell what though. She seems a bit desparate, trying to wiggle out of the shackles from time to time what already got her wrists bloody. The branded "F" seems especially odd on her skin and it gives off the smell of burnt fur and hair.

As the men branded him Wade cackled, embracing the pain, it would be but one more level of pain and humiliation he would bring to them in return, this was especially unnerving as his skin seemed to take longer to brand fire resist two soon he is deposited next to the furred woman, as you look up you see a stunning example of male beauty, with an undercurrent of unnerving-ness, the man is tall, broad shouldered with a square jaw. His hair appears to be made of gold of the purest degree, and he seems to have a slight glow about him. If you look closely you see his veins show up more sharply than you would think is strictly healthy, but then health isn't much of a concern where you are, if you don't look too close you'd say he was an angle but then he looks you in the eyes and his eyes are a deep blood red something you'd expect on a demon or a vampire.

Avyanna was no stranger to manacles and chains, but she was not use to the one being in them. She hadn't bothered with her illusion here, she didn't care what these people thought of her.

She had to laugh at how long it took them to finally brand her, very nearly pushing her in the fire itself and having to hold the brand against her skin for minutes instead of seconds. Fire Resist +5 Even her very skin was fighting against them.

She also liked the idea of being at the 'front' of the line, being at one of the very ends of the chain of prisoners. When it came to herself in situations, she was quick to notice anything that stroked her self-importance.

Her tail lashing gave away how frustrated, well more like furious, she was.

She looked around. She could practically lean on the bars to her right, through which she could see the neighbouring cell, which was empty as far as she could tell. To her left, the rest of the prisoners, the one directly after her being much taller than she was (not as if that was hard). She had no idea what he could be, but he had a strong air of other-worldliness around him.

For reasons unknown she felt a small connection, other than the one around their ankles, and yet was repelled at the same time.

She heard something akin to growling further down. Surprisingly, the more she looked around the more comfortable she felt with her own appearance. None of these creatures came across as obviously human.

Charisma: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 check to see how well they take her comment
"Perhaps when we escape from here, we should start a circus. I dare say we'd draw quite the crowd."

She smirked to herself. Somehow, she believed that everyone in here would rather face their punishment than become a carnival worker.

She poked the man next to her with her tail.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 to see if he'll actually work with her and share plans

"Any ideas, handsome? I'm open to pretty much anything at this point" she said, giving a charming smile.

It was her guess that they were all chained together because they either came in at the same time, or there was something in common with all of them. Whichever it was, it was not relevant yet. The brand on her arm still hurt, but she had been hurt worse before, so she pushed it out of her mind as best she could. At least the windows were fewer, here.

As she usually did, she pulled on the chains binding her wrist, slacking, relaxing, and pulling again. Her muscles were visible in the strain, though her skin was an odd color if the lighting was anything to go by. Each repetition harder than the other, until she had reached a set number, then relaxed. The song she couldn't understand was tuned out as best she could, and she looked at the rest along the chain. They all had the same brand, so she figured that they would be dealt with quickly-- as quickly as she would be dealt with, most likely.

The question that she was constantly overturning in her head was what she should be doing. The travel to this prison was long, uncomfortable, and well-guarded, so she knew she was very far from what she considered "home". While she did not plan to go quietly to her death, she was still at a loss as to what to do, should she escape. Admittedly, vengeance was a pleasant thought, but this cell was still the foremost problem.

[b]"Don't suppose you could charm your way out?"[b], she offered dryly, her voice almost a raspy whisper. She had not had any water in a while.

A tall hadsome man sit chained between Kana and Declsn. He appears to be a young man, but his skin alabaster and his golden hair reveals a celestial heritage much like the other man. He looks around as all of you talk.

He holds up his hand staring at the "F". "Forsaken" if these fools only knew. He then looks to the women around him. Well if I am to die for what I have done I could be in worse company. He laughs and takes a few moments for things to settle in.

My name is Cole, I was a soldier and worshiper of Mirta as a boy, well lets just say I came into my own and found my calling. I know this place. None have ever escaped is its myth. Well some myths are just that. I don't know about the rest of you but I don't plan on staying around three days for my demise. So what do you say anyone want to plan with me. I am a warrior priest. It may help if we know each others capabilities. Anyone that is a loner or rebel well thats fine you can be that all you want once we get out, for now we need to pull together. Together and may have a shot.

Avyanna furrowed her brow in thought. She wasn't going to die in this manner. She was rather fond of the idea of not dying at all. There had to be a way out.

Human

As you look around at your new but temporary home in this cell, it seems you are alone except for the six of you. Every attempt so far at squirming out of your manacles has failed. They are definitely fitted tightly just for humanoids of your size. Looking around the cell a rat is seen scurrying across another cell and under the door to the reinforced cell. Several seconds later anyone paying attention hears a thump and nothing more.

Wade's examination of the manacles and chains reveal them to be old but still quite sturdy iron and that it would probably require slightly more strength than he can muster to break out of them. Of course this action would create a large amount of noise.

Fletch and those examining their surroundings for resources are disappointed to find the room relatively clean apart from layers of dirt in places. The walls and floor are made of stone.

As you stop to listen for guards beyond the southern door you do manage to hear something. It seems to be two guards conversing.

"A visitor. Here?"

"That's what I heard, not a clue as to why. A woman I heard."

"You heard. I'll wait till my eyes see this 'visitor' for myself."

"Shhh. The sargeant is coming."

Several seconds later the door opens and half a dozen guards file in and stand at attention. A man you recognize as the one who branded you and seemed to enjoy doing it, walks in after them. He seems a little dazed. This must be Sargeant Blackerly. He looks darkly at the prisoners and his eyes stop on Kana. Gruffly he says, "You there! That’s the scum! Get 'em unshackled. If any of you makes trouble, they’ll earn a thrashing! Today’s your lucky day, scum. You’ve got a visitor. How you ever warranted such a fine lady is beyond me. Seems she wants to say good-bye. Now step lively. We wouldn’t want to keep her waiting."

Sense Motive DC25:
The sergeant is under the effect of some enchantment.

Three of the guards enter the cell brandishing their clubs while a fourth unlocks Kana and takes her from the cell. The guard and Kana follow Blackerly out of the cell and into the guard room. She has little choice but to follow as resistance would surely earn a clubbing.
Non-lethal but still

The door closes and the guards remain, waiting. As if this little visit will not take long. They eye the prisoners but say nothing.

Kana Cherryblossom:

You are escorted to the meeting room down the hall and shoved into a chair. There waiting for you is a hauntingly beautiful woman in an elegant black dress and soft silken veil. She looks as if she is headed to a funeral. Her hair is so platinum as to almost be white and her eyes are a vibrant almost unearthly green. She clearly has been weeping.

“Oh, dearest,” proclaims the unfamiliar woman. “I’m so relieved you’re alive!” She quickly turns to Tomas. “Could we please have a moment alone, good sir? For pity’s sake?” Tomas goes blank for a bit and then quickly agrees. “Of course, my lady. For you,’ tis no problem.”
Sense Motive 15 to reveal the previous sense motive spoiler.

As soon as he leaves, Her demeanor immediately changes. She drops all pretense of grief or concern. She is immediately all business. “Have you forgotten me, dearest?” the unexpected visitor says with a smirk, dropping her pretense of grief. “Call me Tiadora. We possess a mutual friend who would like to meet you and your fellow cell-mates. Unfortunately, our friend is unwilling to visit you in your present rather shabby accommodations so it seems you must escape. Don’t be so dour. Just because it’s never been done before is no reason you can’t be the first. If you manage that, cross the moors on the outskirts of town. On the old Moor Road you’ll see a manor house with a single lantern burning in the second story. There our mutual friend waits. That is all I know. He did want me to give you this.”

She takes off her silken veil and wipes away a few fake tears with it. “Something to remember me by, dearest.”

So this seems strange. Wonder who the dog lady is to have a visitor. Maybe she had a plan for getting out of here incase she got captured. That would have been some forward thinking. I am fine with the charm plan being plan A then if thats what the rest of you feel.

Did you really say that while the guards are there?

Avyanna's curiosity is piqued when she hears the thump come from the reinforced cell. Who could be so dangerous that they need to be put in a special place, away from others?

"Did you all hear that?', she leaned in again, lowering her voice,'There's someone, or something in that suped-up cell over there.', she discretely nodded towards the west,'Perhaps whatever is in there can help us. Either by providing actual assistance escaping, or it's escape being the distraction for ours. I daresay anything being held in their has to be either important or dangerous and is worth our consideration."

She then leaned back into the standard position against the wall and spoke normally.

"Trust the crazy cat chick to have someone fond enough of that they'd be willing to visit a place like this in order to say goodbye... I'm curious as to what kind of person is in that room with her though. I don't suppose you could tell us? It's not as if we're going to be able to tell anyone else." she said sweetly towards the guards.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

She could only wait for one of them to answer.

Turning back to her fellow inmates, she whispered again.

"I don't suppose anyone can hear what the Sergeant and his goons are talking about?"

she's speaking in a way so that only Wade can clearly make out what she is saying.

Tiadora!?! A mutual friend...has he any suggestions how we might do this?
Taking the silken veil.
I will remember you dearly.

"I have done all I can, it is up to you and the other prisoners now."
Feel free to spoiler any other questions you may have wanted to ask her and I may be able to answer some. Just want to keep this rolling so it's not so boring while the others don't get to do anything yet.

Her message delivered, she rises and the guards return. Immediately, her demeanor once more changes and she is again a perfect picture of grief. “No, I can’t bear to leave you!” She gives the PC a kiss on the cheek. The kiss is ice-cold and feels somehow alien and inhuman.

Blackerly shakes his head, "I'm afraid it's time miss."

She looks deep in Tomas’ eyes and says, “Thank you for letting me say good-bye. There’s no need to search my dearest. You are such a good friend for letting me see my dearest one more time.”

“Such a good friend,” Tomas repeats his voice almost mechanical. Then the watch sergeant seems to snap out of it and bows politely. “A pleasure, madam,”

She leaves unveiled. Her eyes meet yours one last time and she briefly gives you a wicked smile. “Three days,” telepathically echoes in your mind. “Don’t disappoint me, dearest”.

Tiadora leaves and Sargeant Blackerly escorts you back to the cell. You now possess the silken veil hidden on your person and the guards do not search you.

You see Blackerly return and the guards lead Kana back to her place in the cell and chain her up once more. Any talking is met with threats if the prisoners don't shut their mouths. "You prisoners keep quiet or you can say hello to my friend here." Clubs are smacked against palms for effect.

Once Kana is secure again Blackerly leaves along with the extra guards and they retreat down the stairs to whichever duties are set for them. Two guards stay in the outer room, the door is locked, and the prisoners are alone once more.

"Well that was probably the most interesting thing to happen to us during our stay here. So, what was that all about? Or will you be taking it to your grave?" Avyanna asked, the socialite in her craving gossip after so long away from the crowds.

"And as I said to Wade earlier, there is something in that armored room. Something we may be able to use in our escape. If we time it right, we can have as much time as we need to break in. They leave us unsupervised most of the time. So long as we can play it off that we are still bound, should any patrols come by, then there's a good chance we can figure out how to get in. A lot can happen in three days."

Sorry misunderstood, I thought the guards were with Kana. So no I wouldn't talk of escape with the guards there :)

Indeed Kana do tell. Was this friend visit your escape plan. Share the wealth, I can't believe you set up an escape before being captured that is brilliant. Brains and beauty now thats a nice package.

Avyanna, you said there was something in that cell? It would be nice to have and ally he changes to a wispoer Or a destraction

Mysterious Spoiler:
Any chance you tell me who our mutual friend is?

And i have a rendezvous with -him it was?- in three days at the manor house with a single lantern burning in the second story on the old Moor Road? And he wants me to bring those others along? Must be important when he sends you here to tell me. Tell him i´ll be there. Not sure how i will get there yet, but i will. There is nothing better to do here.

Kana hugs the woman back and sheds some tears as she is lead away again, carefully hiding the silken veil.

When she is lead back you can hear the snarling from her chest again as she is shackled to the wall. You can also see that some tears were running down her cheeks and while the guards retreat she remains silent.
Only after they are gone for about a minute, she looks around, eyeing everyone of you.

You don´t give up hope easily, do you? Have you known that nobody escaped from this prison before?

........Well, i´m not sure about you, but i have a rendezvous in three days. It´s kind of important and i expect you to help me to get there. Can i rely on your help? You´re then welcome there too. I got this trinket as a reminder.

She takes out a silken veil with some tear-stains on it and shows it to you.

I agree that whoever or whatever is on the other side of that cell wall is a potential ally but I can only assume it is either more powerful than all of us combined or at least more uncontrollable. We should be prepared to charm it bribe it or slay it. Assuming we can get over there at all...

Getting rid of those manacles and chains is the first priority. Then getting out of here the second. I don´t know what´s in that other room, but it might be there for a reason. If i´m able to cast a spell i could easily put a lot of guards to sleep.

So, anybody has some suggestion how we get rid of those manacles?

It's like no one listens ;)

I have told you I can alter my size and slip out I am waiting for the opportune moment. I can do this once a day so I would prefer not waste todays just to be locked up in another manner. Did you notice while you were out a window. We need to wait till the sun is down at least. I would prefer the humans to be using torches and lanterns if we are to hide or run. So your friend brought you this cloth? What is it? Good, good Wade another that can creat water. We focus on the torches when the time comes.

Bat Shape would have worked well here too but I assumed we were to wait for a Deux Ex Machina? Hence why I was asked to save that feat for Lv 3. Tiny bat-sized assassin FTW!

I do have one weapon I could use if I was free...

My face bulges and transforms rearranging itself nicely into a set of sharp incisors. Bestial Form [1/3]

I have not had a lot of practice using these yet. The orderlies I feasted on were too terrified to put up much of a fight. I assume the guards will be more...prepared. Still a weapon is a weapon.

Hearing too much talking one of the guards bursts in with his club in his hand. You can see the other guard at the door with his hand on his signal horn, waiting.

"I said quiet in here! Now keep it down or I'll have to do something about it."

He heads back to the guardroom after several seconds glaring at each of you and locks the door again. Clearly they didn't hear exactly what you were talking about or they might have done more but you can tell that too much noise will bring their attention again.

Was Kana able to see if he got some keys on him? Also is it possible to cast a spell while shackled there?

You don't see a keyring on either of the guards. You guess they are probably kept on the table or a hook in the guardroom.
No windows were seen anywhere on this level. The only light is from torches and the lighting level is dim for the most part.
Spells are certainly possible as long as a component is not needed. You are considered grappled my the manacles and must still make a concentration check DC14 plus spell level.
Anyone with wisdom 11 or higher might realise a plan is a good idea before randomly escaping as you were brought in today and it is 'likely' mid afternoon.

Avyanna thinks over the ideas that they have come up with so far:

Charming the guards
Cole shrinking in size to escape his manacles
Wade using Coles help to break the manacles from the wall
Ambushing the guards when they come to take us away for punishment
Releasing whatever is in the reinforced cell
Finding a way to get out of the manacles asap, but waiting until the final day to escape

Wis 14 (+2)

Cole speaks softly
They give us the chance we need. They are zealous. When ready if we speak ill of them and their precious Mitra it should draw them in. Of course by this time we will be free pretending to be bound. Kana and Avyanna prepared to put them to sleep will help greatly in keeping that horn quiet. So Kana is that thing magical has your friend brought us a gift? We have a few hours till night we should try not to draw much attention while we wait.

will profession soldier help to give any idea about how many guards may be in this place?
