Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
as they leave the shop, Ivar looks at Oro-Tu's half finished serpent tattoo and answers
"Certainly. it will give me an excuse to get another one, I was thinking a 'Compass rose'"
I like this Oro-Tu, probably because the colonists think were both uneducated barbarians,
Ivar, chuckling to himself, they meet with Silas and Leialoha, Ivar will also accept the geas.

sense motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 from Aurora. She is not able to detect anything out of the ordinary.
Silas Frey |
Silas is prepared to accept the geas on Leiahola's lead, but is not happy as he abhores being forced to do anything. He tries to think of whether he has come across the Shaghaspondium or Serten.

Typo, that is Sorten, he is a powerful archmage. He seems to believe what he is saying.
brvheart |
Oro-Tu looks at the robed man, watching him menacingly as Silas talks to him. He keeps eyes out for any tricks, considering the Ring watching them recently.
[dice=Perception]1d20+12
You did notice one thing about the old wizard with the very high perception check - a couple of cat hairs on his robe.
Oro-Tu |
Deciding boldness might be better if neither of the two know, he calls the sorcerer out, "What is the meaning of the cat hair on your robe? Don't look like cat lover."
Aurora Shadowbane |
Not sure if she believes him about his cat steve, wary to trust stranger bearing gifts, if its too good to be true, it usually is, I walk over to the chapter house to get some water and then cast protection from evil, prayer and discern lies and then return.
Sense Motive to determine truth of his statement about the cat.: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
As you are a "Wizard" surely if you have a cat for a familiar, let us meet him and talk to him.
Passing a message over to the to silas, telling him I am detecting lies and I think it might be a rakshasa.
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

"Oh, he isn't my familiar just my cat. You wouldn't want to meet him, he'd scratch your eyes out!'
As far as you can tell he is telling the truth.
brvheart |
He willfully allows the detect lies to go through to reveal that up until now as far as he is concerned, he is telling the truth.
Aurora Shadowbane |
I say unto you, why do we treat with a "man" who we do not know and is not recommended, on top of it, what he asks for a price is too high, I for one do not agree to his terms for some minor trinkets, the price he asks is one for a artifact, not some rod that we may eventually find on our own or make for our selves. Take the better part of valor and walk away while we still can.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
If you deal with pirates and smugglers, you do not trust anyone
listening to the party speak with Kayden, not trusting the man, but having done business with people untrustworthy before Ivar asks
"Why don't we do the job he asking without the Geas and then trade him what he is asking for, for what we are asking for, straight up. We are under no compulsion and he is not out anything if we fail or decide it is against better judgment"
brvheart |
"As it clear that some of your compatriots do not trust me I would offer to upgrade the one rod only for accepting the job without the geas."
Kayden the Archmage |
"I am not crafting it for free. If you do the job, you will get paid 50,000 GP and I will craft the other rod for free upon completion. Bring me the head of Sorten and will up it 20,000 and another 2000 for the heads of each of his apprentices. You would expect me to pay you upfront with no guarantee I will ever see any of you again? Locating the Shaghaspondium is but the first step in what needs to be accomplished. For now, I can tell you no more, but the fate of the world depends upon it."
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
hard to beat that deal, trust or not
Ivar nods at the Archmage, turning to the party he says quietly
That sounds very reasonable, and he is not requiring the geas, shall we tell him we have an accord?"
is the job he wants done the side-mission that might be lined up while work was being done, or is this something else?
brvheart |
This is intended as a follow on adventure once RC is completed. RC only goes to level 12. I have the side mission already planned.
Silas Frey |
Silas considers the offer, smiles at Kayden. "Just a moment, " and gathers the others to quietly discuss the offer.
"With no geas it's just an offer of a job. We can try and find out more on this Serten and this object, but the shark is getting closer and the kraken' s right behind. Those are our concern for now."
brvheart |
Oro-Tu |
"If he is willing to give Leialoha what he needs and payment afterwards, and it is true what he says about this evil sorcerer, then let us just accept the offer. If he has deceived us we lose nothing, and can return for his scalp."
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
after Leialoha shares his insight
Hard to mistake a defender of the army of light for one of the bad guys, don't mind putting one down if the job calls for it, don't like being lied to though.
Ivar frowns a little when he hears what Leialoha knows
"Yeah, Silas is right, first things first"
hopefully giving us time to sort this out
turning to Oro-Tu he smiles and adds
"Taking scalps now? I like it, much easier than bringing the whole head."
Silas Frey |
Silas looks up at the familiar voice. "Now Captain Mercy, you know I look for challenges and it was never me doing the smuggling. I just helped provide ways and means."
Capt Mercy |
"Well luv, you know I wouldn't be botherin' ya iffn there wasn't something big in it fer ya! Happen to know of a considerable treasure at a location in an area of the Razor Sea known as the Turmoil. But it seems I lost me last crew and barely have a new ship. We can split it 50/50 what do ya say?"
Silas Frey |
"What would you be wanting my associates and I to help with? And on your ship or ours?"
You wait for one treasure haul to show up and two turn up at once :)

Ivar, you can't aid another on Sense Motive, but you did make the DC!
brvheart |
The Admiral Uriah Tame knows every ship that passes through the Turmoil. Those who pass through without his permission are attacked, killed, sunk, and then brutally questioned. Pirate lord and ruler of the Armada, a floating town of ships as large as a small city in population.
Capt Mercy |
"Our destination is west of the Isle of Grey Whispers in the Turmoil. Treasure, there is plenty to go around. We don't dare sail the Turmoil without getting Tame's blessing so to speak. I have a ship, the Capricious and she's already to go."
Her stance betrays her confidence. Her features
are a little too manly for beauty, but she bears herself
with grace, strength, and wit. Her body has been
hardened by work; her skin shows the subtle signs
of a life at sea, her hands the scarring of countless
storms. She’s wrapped in a long wax coat, beneath
which several weapons are visible. Her red hair is
held in a ponytail, above which is a dark fur tricorne
with a huge peacock feather pierced into it.
Silas Frey |
"We will take the job, but I want to know the issue with the Admiral, rather than talking round it. We are much better when we know what to prepare for and I can tell when someone is skirting the issue. "
Uraisa Ellsworth |
"How are we to get Tame's blessing if you behanded him? Are you going to attempt to hide below decks, or can you turn yourself invisibile? There has to be some plan. How do you plan on us getting his permission? I'm not walking into the Armada with you tagging along, that's for sure."
