Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Bonegnaw is a slaver too, this just keeps getting better and better
Ivar glares at Garreg and repeats his idea
Two nordling slaves? I don't mind the idea of being loosely tied with a weapon nearby, the only problem is if we were tied up like slaves we certainly wouldn't have armor on and would probably be naked. That would put the two of us at a distinct disadvantage.
turning to Silas
I'm happy with close enough. But it's your barbeque. If you really want a slave, I could be bound and shirtless, with my axe and shield nearby. So I would just drop the bonds, pick up the weapons and help clear the deck. But, before we went too much further I would want to put armor on. I like that plan least though. As far as gear I need a couple of water proof bags for my pistols, and I would "borrow" as many muskets as I could for long range.
he then asks with a wolfish grin
Do you think those blue coats have any muskets to spare? We could go talk to them tonight after they've gone to bed.
Silas Frey |
Silas nods. "I agree. I don't think the pretending you're a slave plan works."
He considers the musket suggestion and smiles. "As much as I would be in favour of robbing the dragoons I think we're limited on time if we're going tomorrow and breaking into the Fort would need more planning. Plus with no Wexley here it's not half as fun as it used to be."
Silas Frey |
"I need to be at most 90ft away to be able to effect with my performance. Garreg draws his map and that establishes where we think those crossbowmen are and that means either you or I are targetting them, Leiahola."
know: Nature for info on the Cockatrice: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
know: Nature for info on the Chimera: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
brvheart |
They both would be knowledge (arcana). Garreg says the cliff is about 50' up.
Natalie Desmee |
"We could have the nordlings as Garreg calls them in the hold out of sight so they can be ready and just tell Bonegnaw we have merchandise for him. If need be we can put the shackles or bonds on without properly closing the clasps or binding them loosely enough to be slipped off...but the same problem arises they won't have their arms or armor on and we have to be careful to place the clasps or bonds so it won't be immediately obvious their not truly secured."
Oro-Tu |
"A cocactrice?" Oro-Tu ponders aloud, "those are the ones that can turn men to stone, or the ones with deadly poison? My people have rumors of them but not sure. Need to know so we can hunt it correctly."
brvheart |
Using Silas' roll for knowledge (arcana): This hideous avian creature has the body of an emaciated rooster, the wings of a bat, and a long, scaly tail. A cockatrice's bite causes flesh to calcify and harden—multiple bites can cause a living creature to fossilize into stone.
He does not make the minimum DC for the chimera.
brvheart |
This winged monster has the body of a lion, though two more heads flank its central feline one—a dragon and a horned goat. A chimera's breath weapon depends on the color of its dragon head.
Oro-Tu |
Oro-Tu seems less concerned after hearing about the chimera than he does about the cockatrice. Most likely due to the fact that he is much better at taking blows than avoiding them, and a creature that turns you to stone needs to be avoided.
"Perhaps I could net the bird creature?"
Silas Frey |
"Leiahola, you take out the crossbowmen to start with. Shall we get Fly potions for the fighters and look to get you being distracting, but also heading for the beasts? Are there scrolls we want like to deal with the worse if the cockatrice bites?"
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
flying, is this man crazy
Ivar shudders slightly at the idea of flying in combat and interjects
I don't mind attacking from the water, using my cloak, but I would rather have my feet on a solid deck or the ground. Flitting about in the air like a fairy doesn't seem like a good way to fight. Do we know where the beast are? Doesn't make any sense to let loose expensive wild beasts, unless you've got them trained.
Silas Frey |
Silas smiles "Ok feet firmly on the ground. Alternative is we could enlarge you. Do we want you in the water as we enter? Could have you invisible."
He turns to Garreg. "Where are the beasts then?"
Natalie Desmee |
"I'm fine with flying potions should they be needed. I have the means to immobilize the boat and barge for 1 day." She takes out 2 feather tokens and shows them to Silas. "They be anchors. Would that be useful?" She puts them back away.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
being enlarged, fun days with that gnome sorcerer, feather tokens for anchors, smart
Ivar smiles at the idea of being enlarged again, but focuses on the conversation
If I'm under water invisible won't be needed, I'll look like a manta ray, if you want me on deck invisible that's an option, but it would limit the time we would use to build the con.
turning and addressing Natalie
Is there any reason we don't claim the barge and the ship for our own? I don't think we want to leave anyone to come looking for us. But if things go awry it would be nice if they couldn't follow.
then to Natalie and Silas
So we got lots of options, you two seem savvy enough, what's the plan and whose going to the store? I would like to buy a couple of water proof bags. My opinion for what it's worth: keep it simple and do like Oro-Tu said; kill all the drug dealers and slavers
Silas Frey |
"Thanks for that, Xander. So we get fly potion for Natalie, enlarge for Ivar, couple of waterproof bags as well. We go in as slavers, Ivar under the boat with his cloak, and I start my tune to put out 3 of them hopdfully. Leiahola blasts the crossbowmen and then we go to take the rest. I think we need to take the beasts and any magic users as priority. Any really dangerous ranged opponents point to me and I will strip them of what they are using. We need to make certain if there are any slaves thst we rescue them"
He turns to Garreg. "I asked where are the beasts?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
now were getting somewhere, having me swim around blind will be pointless
shaking his head slightly Ivar answers Leialoha
if we don't leave anyone to sail that ship we could bring it with us, if its worth taking. Seems like we could use our own boat, that way we don't need to sober up a drunk just to sail
glad that Silas has put a plan together, Ivar points out,
like I said Silas. its your barbeque, I'll start underwater if you want me too: will I have a particular target in mind or will someone be able to use telepathy to tell me where to hit? If not, I can stay on the boat and see if and where we need someone in the water, then I can hit a particular target or flank or move to the front of the boat to provide defense.
Ivar then glares at Garreg, waiting for an answer.
brvheart |
Silas and Ivar turn to Garreg as he slumps in the chair and then falls to the floor. You turn him over and white froth and blood comes from his mouth. Garreg is dead.
brvheart |
You find a tiny black bolt in his back. He does get a fort
Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 DC 22
Didn't think he was going to roll a nat 20
brvheart |
disguise: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23
stealth: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (1) + 25 = 26
I am getting old, need to retire!
You see an old man slip into the crowd, but do not see more than that before he is gone.
Natalie Desmee |
Turning to Ivar. "We can always come back for it...I'm not sure how to unanchor it and the feather lasts for a day from what I know. I'm all for claimin any and all we can after they've been sent to Davey Joneses locka."
Seeing Garreg slump forward unexpectedly Natalie's senses sharpen as her sense for danger perks up. She looks around and listens carefully for the signs of the culprit. This man didn't seem drunk or sickly...
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
brvheart |
Natalie you see that the old man is wearing a disguise and is not as quite as old as he appears, but he disappears into the crowd.
Natalie Desmee |
Not content to let an enemy escape or have Bonegnaw know they're coming she quickly pursues the culprit as discreetly as possible. Our ambush be ruined if this assassin gets word back.
Don't know what rolls you need so I'll just do stealth for now.
stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
brvheart |
"Thanks for that, Xander. So we get fly potion for Natalie, enlarge for Ivar, couple of waterproof bags as well. We go in as slavers, Ivar under the boat with his cloak, and I start my tune to put out 3 of them hopdfully. Leiahola blasts the crossbowmen and then we go to take the rest. I think we need to take the beasts and any magic users as priority. Any really dangerous ranged opponents point to me and I will strip them of what they are using. He turns to Garreg. "I asked where are the beasts?
this is Aurora , need some scrolls of break enchantment and Instant Armor, Neutralize Poison/Delay poison, lead blades, one scroll of breath of life, restoration or heal if its available
brvheart |
Heal/Survival to Id Substance: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 221d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
AURORA - seeing Garreg she rushes to his Aide He has been hit, I will do what I can, he may have been poisoned though, a delay poison may help too, I have a antidote kit too
brvheart |
The bolt pierced Garreg's heart killing him instantly. Additionally, the bolt is covered with Wyvern poison.
I am running a scan on Aurora's computer so she is using my account on the tablet. Sorry for the confusion.
brvheart |
Natalie roll a perception if you are going to try and follow the assassin.
stealth: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (15) + 25 = 40
Natalie Desmee |
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
After getting past the crowd Natalie looks around trying to find the assassin and shakes her head at the futility of it all. "Come on big guy he's gone. Whoever that was is very skilled. I don't think we have much time to prepare."
brvheart |
Meanwhile back at the chapter house upon going through Garreg's possessions you find a small scribbled note - "Monkey breath". You also find a masterwork shortsword, masterwork light crossbow, 10 bolts, masterwork studded leather armor, 2 small sacks of dragonsmoke each (200 gp street value).
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
she’s right we need to move, quickly
Ivar grunts and turns with her and starts heading back to the chapter house, as they are going he answers
your right, news will travel fast, any chance your captain can launch tonight, let our casters rest on ship and hit them first light?
When they arrive back at the chapter house, Ivar sees the crossbow and asks
Can we wait and sell the crossbow after the raid, wouldn’t hurt to have a loaded range weapons ready; muskets or crossbows will do.
Natalie Desmee |
Heading back she turns slightly to answer the giant of a man. "Should be ready to go right now." When they get back she notes the still unmoving form of Garreg. "We need to move now, Bonegnaw will know shortly that Garreg was talking to us and our surprise will be totally ruined."
Silas Frey |
Silas looks over Garreg and then starts to work to make himself look like the man, his clothes changing quickly and then working to get the likeness and stance of the deceased.
Disguise: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
I absolutely give up. Any time I try and do something non combat
brvheart |
Yeah the dice roller is really sucky again:( I rolled a 1 myself on the assassin's stealth! I will allow a retry on that Silas.
brvheart |
In case no one has picked up on it, the party has a member of the Wave Riders who has taken an interest in them, but if they take no interest in him he will fall into a pit of despair. Already Xander has become a figure of fun. Local children chase after him, casting stones at the threadbare mage. He takes this abuse with silent dignity, but it causes some of those who once spoke his name with respect to mock him and others to wonder if he’s gone mad.
Silas Frey |
Silas whilst getting himself disguised engages with Xander. "Xander, given the danger we're trying to root out, could we ask your aid to come with us and Captain Montgomery to take out these slavers? We're down a mage and you're a much better man than the dandy we've lost."
Silas Frey |
Silas nods at various suggestions. First to Xander. "The Captain is sobering up and being active again should do him all the world of good. If we purchase various scrolls then you can be on hand to help and any resources you need just ask as I'm happy to help."
He makes a note of all the suggestions. "Natalie will probably need to go make the purchases given my current look and I will work on perfecting it ahead of leaving. Our list to buy is scrolls of break enchantment and Instant Armor, Neutralize Poison/Delay poison, lead blades, one scroll of breath of life, restoration or heal as well as 2 potions of fly and 2 of Enlarge person. If he has any wands we might get some of those to have more options. As I said we're a little light on ranged power at the moment. Anything else before we go get the stuff of Samuel?"
