Terrill sees the dark, shadowy limb reaching for him and sees his is not going to be quick enough to dodge it. He braces himself and hopes to Desna the damage is not too great - and the attack veers harmlessly aside at the last moment, leaving him unscathed. He glances quickly over his shoulder and says, "Thanks, Fredrik, I owe you one. And the Lady, too, I guess."

He then raises his blade and swings it at the hazy figure before him, aiming a bit more carefully this time.

As the shadows dissipate, Terrill quickly kneels by the body on the floor, but can only confirm that it is very dead. He finds a handful of items that are obviously magical, but cannot tell more than that about them.

Looking up at his companions from his position by the corpse, he says, "We are fortunate not to have gone the same way as this poor soul. I was touched by the shadows' draining attack, but lightly. Is anyone badly hurt?"

The shadow took some of my strength away as well, but not much. Should we inquire about healing before we continue on?

Iirc, a lesser restore is 50 if cast by a NPC so 100gp and both myself and Terrill can get healed for 1d4, thoughts?

"Let's finish our business here," Terrill responds, "and then see whether someone here in the village is capable of healing the shadow's damage. I am a bit reluctant to turn to a priest of Zon-Kuthon to restore us, but we shall see what Karpad has to offer."

He turns to the one door in the dank cellar and takes a careful look and listen at it. Given his experience with the lightning trap above, he also senses any magic that might be present on the door.

Wilhelm takes a look at the ring, "Ooh, this looks nice - magical you say? Hmpf. I wonder what it'll do? But I'm not gonna wear it blindly."

If no one else wants it, he'll place the ring in his pack.

Looking over his shoulder, Terrill responds to Wilhelm, "Nice of you to offer, but I'm guessing we'll all be called upon to do our part before this is over. But if you insist on standing in the back and being quietly encouraging, I might just take you up on the payment offer."

Grinning a bit from his ribbing of Wilhelm, he continues, "As to the ring, I couldn't sort out what it was, but maybe Bizzle or Fredrik have some idea? You likely won't have to ask Bizzle twice to take a close look at something that's shiny and magical."

Bizzle is indeed curious about the items magical, Ring: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 Potions: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 but hasn't the faintest clue what the hell they are. Beats me. Strange shadow magic I guess!

Before the party proceeds further Bizzle will grab his wand of Mage Armor and tap himself. Anyone else wish to have the Mage Armor? Bizzle will happily oblige anyone that can use it and wishes to have it cast.

Wilhelm smiles at Hiram's suggestion. "Ah yes, capital idea sir. When we have completed our good service here, we shall partake of strong libations indeed - and the first round will be my treat."

While Terrill opens up the door (hopefully without getting fried), Wilhelm draws his rapier and makes a few flourishes and stabs at the air. "Don't worry lads! Should we find ourselves facing more corporeal foes, I shall deal with them thusly. Ha-Ha!" His rapier strikes through the air, though not demonstrating any particularly remarkable skill.

Terrill finds no magic or traps on the door and opens to a smell of hot fat that is overpowering. In the front of the room is a drying rack on which candles are hung while they cool. Broken and mangled, it sits in a circle drawn in blood and fat. Farther back, a furnace emits a dim light, and behind it stand several enormous vats, each as tall as a human.

DC 15 KN (arcana):
The drying rack in the center of the floor has been transformed into a makeshift altar for ritual sacrifice.

When you enter the room, you see two individuals, a man and woman, mindlessly working on tasks at the far end of the room. A small creature flies out from behind one of the vats to see who has entered. "What?! What are you doing here? Go away! The Baron will make you pay if you disrupt my work!"

DC 16 KN (nature):
This is an extraplanar fey creature known as a lurker in light. They can blend with light in a way that makes them invisible and are immune to blindness. Like most fey, they have DR/cold iron.

Terrill lifts his long, curving blade over his shoulder and slips it into its sheath, then draws a second blade, made of cruel-looking dark iron. "This is a lurker in the light," he says as he switches weapons, "its fey magic lets it disappear into light and it cannot be blinded by even the brightest light. Like most fey, it resists weapons made of anything but cold iron."

Responding to the creature, he says menacingly, "Your work? Tell me what that work is, would you kindly?"

Meanwhile the couple pick up small pieces of wood to use as makeshift weapons and make their way towards the party stiff-legged, clearly not acting out of their own will.

GM Endlessforms in the future please dont put Fredrik in the front line if it can be avoided, he is using a reach weapon and has the AC of a wizard. He will usually stay in the second row or behind one of the melee oriented characters.

Sleep goes off within the area I drew on the map, DC 17 Will if any of them are affected. Bizzle will then cast Glitterdust in the same area, hoping he might at least mark the creature and/or affect the humans, DC 16 Will. Probably shoulda tried that first.

He takes a short step away from the brightly lit area, and holds his blade at the ready.

Terrill's vision grows dark for a moment, but his own inner fortitude, paired with Fredrik's recent blessing, allow him to resist the effects of the spell. He calls on Desna to protect him from any further spells the brilliantly-lit creature might aim at him, then steps closer and swings his blade at it. Unfortunately, his sight is still recovering and he misses badly.

Activate Judgment of Sacred Protection for +2 to saves, step into flanking position opposite Wilhelm.
