No Age of worms, I snuck in a couple of modules from Ashardalon Series...
The Ashardalon series was the "first" AP, though not called an AP.
It had the following 3.0 edition modules:
The Sunless Citadel
*The Forge of Fury
*The Speaker in Dreams
The Standing Stone
Heart of Nightfang Spire
Deep Horizon
Lord of the Iron Fortress
Bastion of Broken Souls
*these two I have "snuck into" shackled City.
We are currently in The Speaker in Dreams.
After this we are going back into Shackled City for the remainder of the AP!

The gibbering mouther's ability is actually linked to a specific spell.
This should be fun...

Again any suggestions for improvements are welcome, I do try to set the stage and revise my word documents to do things as effectively as I can.
I think my biggest complaint right now is how frequently monsters get nerfed to benefit the party, removing any of the danger they're supposed to present. I generally feel you're "playing easy" on us. :P

I didn't nerf the confusion ability, I am just using it now! The first one was a general area affect and may not have anything to do with the mouther at all!
Evil echoing DM laughter!
I am waiting to see who ends up swating the wrong people!
Pretty sure no one in the party wants Broccan to attack them! more evil laughter!

Confusion effects...
d% Behavior
01-25 Acts normally
26-50 Does nothing but babble incoherently
51-75 Deals 1d8 points of damage + Str modifier to self with item in hand
76-100 Attacks nearest creature (for this purpose, a familiar counts as part of the subject's self)

I can't really think of a good reason for you guys to suddenly leave Cauldron and head for a small town and some stones on the far side of the island.....
I mean other than the obvious the stones are sacred and Sanstree needs to check them out and no one from the town has made the trek to Cauldron in quite some time and the rulers are concerned...
So no reason at all for that! ;)

So here is an idea that I need to improve on how I post.....
Make sure my post wraps up and includes everyone and their actions, beyond just tracking BBEG hit points, but clarifying the BBEG is on fire.
Clarifying hits and misses, saves and other information.
Maybe add a line per individual in the summary: (hit/miss etc)
Also need to improve information concerning getting to other areas and including that information.
Other feedback?

I think that's all welcome information, but you are responsive when we have a question about the situation - ultimately, that's most important to me.
In my one little game, I often have the initiative order for the round that I repost with updates as I prompt for posts to try to clarify who did what during the round in question. I don't know if that's more trouble than you want, but in our slower-posting game, it's necessary to refresh the players' memories.
I guess feedback for our attempted actions is the biggest concern.

And with MW around to keep me honest!
Good news is everyone's new items are ready to be picked up. You know weapons, armor, etc and that should help with any future dangers!
Normally this would be time to level, but we already did that due to my vacation.
I actually think looking ahead we will get to 7th level relatively soonish. Which is very rare for pbp.

lol, I'll troll back through when I have time. He doesn't have a lot of coin and I think I determined that he was going to wait to purchase bigger items later.

I believe this is Canvy's order:
After swinging a couple of falchions, and feeling the effect of the gauntlet on one, he nods his approval. "Silver it is, by the by you wouldn't happen to have a silvered mace or something too, its always good to have a little something set by just in case? I mean if I takes the three, does I get that discount you offered?" he smiles his yellowed teeth showing through.
EDIT: Nope, I found it. Canvy asked for a silversheen falchion and Edrukk asked for a silversheen morningstar.

"Alchemical silver is a major process combining metallurgy and alchemy can bond silver to a weapon made of steel so that it bites lycans, costs 2 gold for ammunition, 20 for a light hand weapon, 90 for most weapons and 180 for a big job.""Silversheen is a step up an a masterwork weapon at that, in addition to tha lycan fightin that silversheen never rusts even steel eatin monsters an wizards can't make a pile o rust out o a silversheen weapon. Costs an extra 750 gold above tha cost o tha weapon to get one."
"Last thing I ken do is a weapon blanch o alchemy while yer weapons on order. Yah pay fer tha weapons an I'll throw blanchin in fer free."

I am out till Monday. Off to CrispyCon III bot me if needed. I do not think I had anything to buy and I do not need any items from the loot.

I don't feel like we have concluded anything in this thread. Part of that might be because we killed the one that might be the BBEG before we could find out - forgot to leave time for the evil mastermind to perform their soliloquy about their childhood and even plans and how no one knows the one secret that can make it all unravel...
I don't think it's done, but I don't think it needs to be to start something new - that's DM's purview.

This attack is supposed to be well planned and well carried out by me.
If you noted any improvements that I could make then let me know.
Or you can wait until the "full" sequence plays out and we can go from there.
For the bowmen I am assuming they will make only one ranged attack and will close in on you or you on them in the second round...
Discussion question: could an Oni, Ogre mage be the speaker in dreams?
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Depends on how literal the phrase 'speaker in dreams' is to be taken. The 'speaker in dreams' could be the voice an addict hears in their drug-induced stupor and could be anything with a voice. Or it could be a spell caster using the nightmare spell. Or I'm sure there are other semi-literal interpretations. And there's always the possibility that it is figurative and all bets are off.
As long as you know who and why, that is all you need. We may find out why - so you need to know the answer - but we might not.
Not helping, I guess. Sorry.
