There's a shimmering pool on the north walk, from which water gushes out every minute or so. On the south end of the room, in each of the alcoves, there is a metal hatch on the floor.

The hatches are solid metal, without water flowing through, while the portals seems to be some kind of hole in the wall. A small person could fit through, but a medium-sized person would seriously have to squeeze. (As in, need an escape artist check)

The corridor in the northeast turns around a corner, and the floor becomes deeper and deeper, until it's no longer possible to stand on the floor. The chamber at the end of the corridor is filled from wall to wall with water that reeks of dead sea life. A cascade pouring from the northern wall churns up silt and other filth in the water, creating a murky mess.

Ilya jumps into the water and swims to the door in the west wall, where she waits for the others. She'll open the door when at least most of her comrades have joined her.

Actually the 'swim' area starts where the corridor turns and descends with some stairs (right now, Kellan is there). I assumed you made some progress after that.
Redke goes under while Vayu draws his rapier, hoping for the mud creature to stay clear.
The murky mess moves up to Ilya, and slams down hard, but clumsily.

I've tried to indicate on the map that one passage passes over the other (orange lines). It's therefore not possible to move from this corridor into the room on the left, unless you walk back past the north side. It's entirely valid to do the latter, and would give you a vantage point from which to fire spells or arrows.
I've moved Kellan down the corridor for now, adjust if necessary.
Kellan moves in and sees Ilya punch the mud creature hard.

Expert Duelist adds 1 to only my AC. And apparently they updated the trait a bit in the last guide, which I only discovered just now. It now states it doesn't apply to AC versus touch attacks or when I'm denied my Dex bonus :(
Ilya ignores the fact she's grappled and continues to attack the mud creature. She mixes the dragon style with the tiger style and swings an acid-covered claw at the pile of mud grappling her.
