Channel negative: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5) = 10/2 damage = 5 damage. Will DC 16 save from all three Aspis agents or they are sickened for 3 rounds. If they save, it does not reduce their damage.

DM Kludde |
With a swift blow to the temple, Ilya cracks the skull of the final Aspis, who goes down for the count.
Combat over
Each of the Aspis agents wears a crude talisman tied around her neck. On one side, a faceless woman wearing a bloody Pharaoh’s headdress is displayed, surrounded by Abyssal runes.
The runes state: Above me is the Mother, below me impure blood.
On the opposite side of the amulet is the demonic rune for Areshkagal identical to that depicted on the pair of guardian statues outside the sphinx. Several small square holes have been punched out of the amulets in seemingly random patterns, though the pattern is the same for all three amulets.
The crates, boxes, and other storage containers hold all manner of equipment needed to explore an untamed wilderness. The gear consists of simple camping equipment, surveying supplies, and cartographic tools.
If you're looking for a specific adventuring item, you may want to state what, and roll a perception check
The desk is empty, but a large hand-drawn map of the regions the Aspis Consortium has already located sprawls across its broad top. The bookshelves hold several leather-bound ledgers that catalog the items taken out on missions, as well as pages upon pages of what appears to be gibberish.
Ketill |
Ketill grins as he reads the runes "Hmmm, 'Above me is the Mother, below me impure blood.' Let's take these, it wouldn't surprise me if they are some kind of key."
Ketill then takes a look at the pages of gibberish after he has mixed and taken an extract of comprehend languages, he also takes his extract of heightened awareness.
Ilya Akyll |
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Ilya checks out the hand-drawn map. "Let me see... where have they been so far?"
Balon |
"As one familiar with so-called 'impure blood', I would be surprised if that phrase wasn't important for our travels. Well-said, my friend Ketill."
Balon busies himself with looking through the ledgers quickely, and a few of the books.

"Awe ... that was over too quickly ...", laments Oloch.
He uses his wand to cast cure light wounds ... CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 I believe no one else is injured 33/36 HP
DM Kludde |
Ketill tries to make sense of the gibberish, but quickly understands that this is actually text written in code. Ilya pores over the map, and sees confirmation of the many places in the tapestry that have been looted by Aspis agents - it looks like the consortium has full access to the tapestry's demiplane, though it may seem like the Society has the better understanding on how to get where.
Baron looks through the ledgers, but also finds they are encoded.
There's a set of double doors leading out of this room.
Ketill |
"Let's take these ledgers and move on. Ol'och, there is probably more fighting ahead, why don't you open those doors?"
DM Kludde |
The double doors lead to a long corridor. A long, blasted-out hallway displays several tablets depicting gruesome images of torture and mutilation. The blasted areas have destroyed several of the tablets, but thirteen of them still remain unscathed. Scorched stone and rubble contrast the otherwise pristine corridor.
the damage within this hall are the result of concussive blasts originating from triggered explosives.
Ketill |
Knowledge Engineering: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 2 = 15
"Careful, they have triggered explosions here. It wouldn't surprise me if the Aspis also have someone who is skilled with bombs."
Balon |
"Ah, bombers. I quite dislike the act of having to HURL something at someone with your own limbs. Much better to just fire some energy at them, less messy, you know. But I'm sure your bombs can be quite effective, my friend Ketill."
Ketill |
"Dear Balon, nothing beats the smell of sulphur and bat guano in the morning."
DM Kludde |
Ketill clearly recognises the damage caused by explosive blasts in this hallway.
There are thirteen tablets in this hallway that are undamaged. The first tablet depicts a man self-inflicting savage wounds upon himself as if he is etching a series of words into his flesh. Below the macabre illustration, a nonsensical riddle is etched.

DM Kludde |
I think we can safely say nobody has any clue what is going on
There's thirteen tablet with riddles on them. Do you inspect them?
Evil grin
Ketill |
Puts on bombsafe suit
"Oh well, it's probably nothing. Let's see what's on this tablet"
Ketill will most certainly inspect the tablets
DM Kludde |
There's thirteen tablets that contains the same kind of depiction of a man or woman self-inflicting savage wounds. The wounds form a series words. Below each depiction is a different riddle, without solution, scribbled in stone.
As Ketill inspects one tablet after the other, one of them decides to explode right in his face.
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 6, 2, 2) = 19 No save for the reader
There's twelve tablets that...
Ilya Akyll |
"You think we can move past these?" Ilya asks from a safe distance.
"Or maybe we could detonate all of them with ranged weapons?"
Balon |
How many did he read before one exploded on him? As in, how many are left that could possibly explode?
DM Kludde |
It was, in fact, the last one in the hallway that exploded.
The hallway goes around the corner, and ends in double doors.
Ketill |
Ketill jumps a few feet in the air when the tablet explodes mere inches from his face.
"That's also a way to make explosions, although I prefer my way. Thanks for the healing Ol'och. Shall we continue?"
Balon |
"Oh my, now you see? This is why I prefer a nice, clean ray of energy over such things. Look at the mess that made of your face! At least until our friend Oloch patched you up, of course. Let's move on, then."
Spectre Todd |
"Ha!" says Spectre Todd as he laughs at Ketill's misery, "That's why I don't read."
Mumbling under his breath, he continues "Damn wizards and their exploady things. What next, troglodytes worshiping a magnet?"
Spectre Todd, then offers to heal Ketill, if he needs it.
DM Kludde |
Do you move to the next room, or do you further investigate the tablets?
Ol'och |
Oloch inspects the remaining tablets from a distance as he anticipates they will continue to explode.
He detects magic and just scans for obvious anomalies such as secret doors or the like. Again, from a distance ...
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
DM Kludde |
Ol'och's inspection causes no further tablets to explode, and only the exploded tablet radiates a faint, lingering evocation aura. From this distance, however, he cannot make sense of deciphering what is written on the tablets.
Beyond the double doors, a score of identical statues stand in even rows facing a worn curtain. Each statue resembles a faceless woman wearing a pharaonic headdress. Each wields a wicked-looking sickle raised in a killing stroke in one hand, and holds in the other a rune-engraved disk. Debris and rubble spill into the room from a collapsed corner, claiming two of the statues beneath a mound of scree.
A heap of rubble dominates the northwestern corner.
Among it lie the slowly decomposing bodies of two Aspis agents, and that of a Babau demon.
The worn curtain portrays an epic battle between a giant scorpion on the north half and a blue, viper- tailed sphinx on the south. Between the two, a pregnant jackal-headed woman with three eyes hovers above the fray. Each of the three figures bears a demonic rune somewhere on her body.
The sphinx represents Areshkagal, and her symbol is emblazoned across her forehead. The scorpion represents Aldinach, and her symbol is etched into her massive pincers.
Lamashtu, mother to both of the feuding demon lords in the tapestry, has her demonic rune carved into her pregnant abdomen as intricate scars and gaping wounds.
A phrase, written in Abyssal, is embroidered around the curtain’s edges, repeating several times. (See handout)

Balon strategically moves around the room, getting into a position where he can channel negative energy on the statues and not on his friends. He will then channel energy as a Standard action, using Selective channel on both to exclude his allies who are within 30 feet.
Channel negative: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3) = 9 /2 = 4
Total of 4 negative energy damage to both statues, and both statues must make a Will save, DC 16 or be sickened for 3 rounds unless they are immune to the sickened condition, which they probably are. But they take the full 4 damage whether they make the save or not.
