I can't imagine this guy letting us past...I'm going to go ahead and roll my attack rolls to speed things up in case he takes a hostile action or things go south (I'm guessing you would just keep our initiative rolls).

Bruce:

Heat (Ex) A salamander generates so much heat that its mere touch deals an additional 1d6 points of fire damage. A salamander's metallic weapons also conduct this heat.

It can also grab and constrict with its tail.

These words signal enough for Caranthir to quickly grab his bow and to start firing arrows. His first arrow misses, but the second one flies true and pierces the tough skin of the Salamander.

The Salamander reacts unsurprisingly with an all-out assault on Bruce, whose bash hits and leaves a small wound. The spear of the salamander strikes twice, and the second time only barely misses a main artery, causing a painful, bleeding wound. The tail hits as well, but fortunately fails to take a hold of the investigator.

Fellgrim rushes in. Thistle turns into a glowing nova of healing, and restores some health to Bruce and Fellgrim. The outsider avoids Jelani's blow to the head, only to be felled by a bout of hideous laughter.

Something everyone should know about acrobatics:
In addition, you can move through a threatened square without provoking an attack of opportunity from an enemy by using Acrobatics. When moving in this way, you move at half speed. You can move at full speed by increasing the DC of the check by 10. You cannot use Acrobatics to move past foes if your speed is reduced due to carrying a medium or heavy load or wearing medium or heavy armor. If an ability allows you to move at full speed under such conditions, you can use Acrobatics to move past foes.

Bruce takes a five foot step away from the salamander and pulls his wand from his belt to heal some of his grievous wounds.

That's some interesting stuff on acrobatics...I didn't realize you couldn't do it if your movement was reduced because of armor.

Yeah I've learn a few thing here and there from GMing PbP. The interesting thing is dwarves can still tumble in medium or heavy armor. Making that ability that doesn't restrict their movement in armor much more appealing.

As if testing his longbow, Caranthir fires an arrow into the ceiling, then aims straight for the prone Salamander's heart, missing it only by the narrowest of margin. Still, the arrow manages to hit the arm of the laughing inhabitant of the plane of fire, show a brief spat of rime as it hits.

Thistle and Jelani smack down hard. Thistles morningstar makes a crunching sound as it breaks some of the creature's ribs, while Jelani hits the reptilian criterion the temple, cracking his skull. A red trickle runs from its ear as it stops moving.

A partially finished breastplate is finely engraved with dozens of flaming serpents. There's also a leather bag lying against a wall, that holds a Spire Transport Token.

Thistle lends his eyes to the searching process in the blacksmith's room. When it is satisfactorily cleared, he follows the group down the hallway to the next room, and makes ready to enter. Just before everyone goes in, he casts a blessing on them.

Bruce examines the next door, and finds it locked, but not trapped. Eventually, he manages to open it, finding a kind of prison behind it. Chains dangle from four iron rings set into the stone of this room’s eastern wall, and small knives and hooks hang from pegs nearby. Blood stains the floor beneath the chains. There are four doors to the north and four more to the south, each with a small, barred window.
