Fuzzfoot hits the cantankerous fey square in the back as it attempts to flee.
Gob, Fuzzfoot, Sameon, Quillen, Caith, Zahaz, Shah, Dalangi, Enemies
Fuzzfoot, are you still keeping Inspire active? If so 4 damage?
Caith Skullcrusher |
Caith pursues the fleeing fey, his stubby legs pumping through the water as he builds up speed and launches his body at the creature - his right shoulder studded with cold iron spikes leading the way
To hit tooth fairy AC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 (+1 if inspire is up)
Damage if hit: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 (+1 if inspire is up)
Gob Master of Greed |
Still hearing the sounds of battle out in the hallway Gob lets out a small sigh. "Was hoping to save this for later." Stepping to the other side of Caith, the half Orc opens his mouth for a deafening roar, only no sound comes out.
ear piercing scream: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7 DC 16 fort halves damage and negates stun.
could someone move me to the left side of Caith please.
Shahrazad, Teller of Tales |
As predicted:
Shahrazad will end her flute solo. Immediate action.
Saving Finale: Caith can reroll his save.
---
Who is most hurt? Shah will cure them as her regular action.
Shah pulls out a wand and readies to cure anyone who comes near and needs a heal.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
Shah's ending of her music with a grand finale saves Caith!
Fort Tooth Fairy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
The fairy looks injured by the shout.
Caith, same action or new action based on changes?
Gob, Fuzzfoot, Sameon, Quillen, Caith, Zahaz, Shah, Dalangi, Enemy
Tooth Fairy (19/22) Shaken(1 of 5 rounds)
Dalangi |
The Shadow Eagle flies over to the fey creature and bites at her.
DC 15 Will save for the shadows to be 20% real (DC 13+1 (Shadow magic)+1 (Shadow stencil set)
Maintain Shadow Eagle Bardic Performance 5/7 remaining
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
bite damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
Doh! My post this morning isn't here! The dice roller is picking new numbers. Meh! The tooth fairy attempted to kill the eagle, and missed, rolling a 3 or 4 as I recall. He rolled slightly better for an 11 ish to realize the shadow was a shadow, and failed. As I recall him failing, and the dice roller is now rolling successes.. . .
The tooth fairy flickers in and out of existence, failing in its cruel attempt to steal the life of the eagle. It appears the creature still believes the eagle to be real.

Zahaz |
Samaeon casts a spell of guidance upon Zahaz.
Zahaz tears into the fairy.

Quillen |
Quillen scowls at the fallen form of the fairy in the water.
"Now, zey are dead... did we zee all that needed zeeing in zat room?"
He marches back to the door of the room that held the fairies and peers within, searching for things of note that may have been missed in the melee.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

One of the stuffed meadowlarks floating in the cage is actually a highly realistic feather token (bird). In addition, you notice that one of the horns on the mounted gorgon’s head does not match the other; it is a horn of fog.
More importantly, a human male languishes within the locked birdcage (Disable Device DC 20). The mostly toothless man appears nearly unconscious; he’s partially submerged, nearly invisible due to being surrounded by stuffed birds, and bleading extensively from the mouth.
Quillen |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
"Sacrebleu! Zis man is alive!"
Quillen sheathes his rapier, swinging around a tanned leather satchel "fannypack" to the front of his person. He digs around inside, first pulling out a waterlogged pack of cigarettes.
"Merde.."
Regardless, he sticks one of the soggy smokes into his mouth and begins to chew on it as he continues to nearly wordlessly (excepting of course, Galtan profanities) dig through the pack, producing fine metal implements.
"Just un moment..."
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
With a tink, the first metal rod breaks.
"Merde.."
However, the halfling "marches" on.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
With a second tink, the second metal rod breaks.
"Merde.."
The apparently continues on for some time...
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Tink. "Merde.."
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Tink. "Merde.."
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Tink. "Merde.."
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Tink. "Merde.."
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Eventually, after several chewed cigarettes and a dozen profanities, the halfling takes a step back and wipes some sweat from his brow.
"Zis is done."
Dalangi |
Dalangi ceases movement with his stencils as the shadows return to normal. Rushing over he helps the man out from the cage
Zahaz |
Zahaz observes the rescue with arms crossed, a clawed finger tapping impatiently on a plated arm. When the toothless man mumbles like a drunken hobo he decides something must be done. Just as Quillen begins to act, Zahaz makes sure his servant is being useful.
"Oh, for the Dark Lord's sake... Samaeon, attend him. Use your healing potion if need be."
"Yes, my master!" Samaeon wades forward, a hand digging in his pack.
Will give him anothrr potion of cure light wounds if the first seems to be helping.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
Fuzzfoot, unable to do much more than the others, takes the time to examine the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
The magical healing seems to have stopped the bleeding, but has done nothing to restore his missing teeth, "The fox tricked me and locked me here. I thought I was dead. Then I wished I was. Now I am happy not to be." The young man looks desperate familiar. If he were cleaned up, had teeth, and wasn't speaking so strangely . . . a dead ringer for someone you have met just recently.
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
"Oh, I am sorry. I am Verml. I am a novice here. I keep the archives." the young man stretches as he untangle himself from the cage.
Zahaz |
"Impossible." Zahaz rasps through his sharp teeth. "We met Verml above. He has teeth."
"Master?" Samaeon says carefully. "I... Believe that other man might have been an imposter."
Zahaz looks closer at the toothless man in front of them.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
"This place is simply getting stranger and stranger. Let's keep exploring until we can get to the bottom of this. There must be some central source to all this witchery. Verml - do you have any idea what is happening here?"
Shahrazad, Teller of Tales |
"Indeed! Quite the tale it will make. A flood, a talking fish, an impostor. Fascinating elements all weaving together. Tell us what you know, Virml, and then we must hurry down here and go find this impostor. In the meantime perhaps we should use that bird token to send a warning to Kreighton Shaine that Virml-the other one-should not be allowed to leave."
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
"I was doing research, you know, for Master Shaine. Not things he asked me to do directly, but things that would make him notice me. There was a particular scroll, a riddle scroll. While I studied it, creatures began to appear. It seems each stanza is it's own conjoined world. Together they held the fox, and I let him out. He tricked then trapped me." The student begins to visibly sob as he reveals his lack of judgment, and cringes at mention of his captivity. "He summoned those fey using part of the scroll. Each part may very well summon something new and wondrous from his prison in the first world."
Dalangi |
It seems this trouble is all part of the trickster. Dalangi says as he joins his long spider-like fingers together. We should part at once. [b]We should escorts this toothless boogeyman out of here firsts though.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
"Well, this does help explain what has happened, but not what needs to be done to stop it. It sounds to me like most of the creatures here want us to return the trickster to this location. If this Verml impostor is the trickster, perhaps we should go get him and then return. It should at least satisfy Miss Koi to stop flooding the place."
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
"That is a good point. I don't think there are too many rooms left, so I doubt a few more minutes delay is going to cause more damage at this point."
Quillen |
Quillen nods his agreement.
"Oui, let us make haste to seek out ze remaining clues!"
With a salute to the freed, toothless man, he wheels about and marches back through the shallow water to parts unexplored.
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
With the bookcases serving as wooden walkways, it takes very little time to scout the last two un-searched rooms. There do not appear to be any further creatures lurking in the basement.
Please take a moment to make one or both checks for the first room:
Then a second check for the second room:
Quillen |
Perception DC15: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
"'allo? What iz zis? Zome zilk map of zome zort of zupercontinent?"
Perception DC15: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
"'allo? Zome zort of bookmark?"
Perception DC15: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Perception DC20: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Quillen presents his assorted finds to the others.
Zahaz |
Perception Room 1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Zahaz completely misses what Quillen found, and is having trouble understanding the halfling's accent. "What?"
Perception Room 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Perception Room 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
Zahaz is much more perceptive in the second room and quickly locates one of the fragments of The Name of the Fox. He also noticed something else. Something much more interesting to him.
"Here, read this." He rasps, thrusting the scroll into Fuzzfoot's hands. He then Wade's off into the darkness of the northern alcove.
"Yessss.." His voice echoes back with pleasure. "The mistress will be pleased."
Zahaz summons Samaeon to the darkness.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Fuzzfoot relies on Quillen in the first room.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
"Well, well, well. This is interesting. A book about the drow."
He reveals a heavy codex bound with cured dwarf skin. "The Darklands Precepts is a guide to proper forms of address and correspondence among drow noble families, with shorter chapters regarding drow demonology rituals and other, equally dangerous rites."
"Also, of perhaps more importance to us at present, is this - another fragment of the Name of the Fox. Perhaps this is the last clue that we need?"
Shahrazad, Teller of Tales |
Knowledge (geography): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
"Yes, quite an interesting and rare map. If none of you mind, I will keep it safe for now and if needed use the scroll embedded within it."
Eponine Lokrien Savet |
The third riddle fragment is posted on the Handouts Link, like all the others, it is written in Sylvan.
Quillen |
Quillen briefly studies the assorted fragments the party has assembled.
May the winner wear gold while the loser eats crow.
Knowing nothing save that which he knew not to know.
Cross! Cross was the owl at the albatross
For catching the bulk of the fish
So the owl cast deeper, awaking a sleeper
Who made of both feathers one dish.
As we have heard, the worm's got by the bird
Who gets up so early a-dawnward,
But what of the bird who, deceased and interred,
Becomes food for the worm worming onward?
"Unpalatable!" Spat the fat, flesh-fed wyrm
Upon lunching on sons of the judge
Then he made of the father a rather fine sauce
Thereby showing he bore him no grudge.
Gormandelle, the lady gorger
Dined on beans and bones and ordure,
Lost her teeth so took her daughters,
Then went wading to make water.
When Sir Crocodile attacked,
Used his teeth to bite him back.
Scratching his head, the halfling tries to puzzle out the relation between events unfolding in the archives and the words within.
"'allo? Daughers? Mizzing teeth? Were zose zese fairies?"
Replacing his hat, he looks about nervously as everything seems to be eating everything in the stories.
"And where iz zis Zir Crocodile? Perhaps it is ze monster in ze scroll yet unreleased?"
Caith Skullcrusher |
Caith takes of his helmet and scratches his head
"Your guess is as good as mine laddie...most likely better"
Caith raps his knuckles across his skull
"Better for sure, me noggin isn't best used for thinkin'...any of ya'll have any idea on how to proceed?"
Gob Master of Greed |
"I recall the giant fish creature upstairs asked us to gather these. Maybe it can shed some light on what we might do with them. Also we can let it know the trickster has left the archives so there is no point in flooding the place any further."
know arcana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Is the summoned creature similar to a crocodile?
