Kadir Drummond |
Holy s~*% i can't believe that worked!
reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
"Ok lets get the f%** out of here!"
Kadir is blasted with waves of fire but dives into the tunnel. He makes a strange sound as he's being healed and burned by fire at the same time. He goes prone trying the rub the sensation off in the dirt before crawling for the pipe.
GM Lemmy |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 See? Tai Leng's rolls are on the average for the thread. :P
Eitylen observes the surrounding area unnoticed. (Makes sense... You don't usually check roofs when looking for people who escaped into an underground tunnel) He sees a fairly large group of armed men scanning the area around the laboratory. There are 6 men coming towards your general direction. A similar group moves the other way and an unknown number is still inside the lab. They all seem better armed than the men you fought at the place.
Staying where you are means they will eventually find you. It wouldn't be difficult to leave before then, though.
Brother Cyrus |
"Good luck!" Cyrus begins jogging in the opposite direction.
GM Lemmy |
Ah... Nothing like a 14h shift to make you forget about everything... Including online campaigns...
Anyway... Before I GM the next events, let me just recap my last GMing post... :P
Staying where you are means they will eventually find you.
i.e.: They haven't found you yet...
It wouldn't be difficult to leave before then, though.
i.e.: it would be pretty easy to leave before they found you... Is there any reason you're trying to distract them?
GM Lemmy |
I'm kidding, lets jump to the next scene then
Sorry. Been out the whole day. In any case, what happens next depends mostly on what you decide to do... Bur... Uh... I'll give you a few more hooks, this particular
Kadir slithers across the dirt like a snake and crawls out the back entrance! "Hiss ! Hisss ! i'm a snake!"
Wait... What?
Don't forget what you learned so far Plus the fact that you now know for a fact that someone is producing and most likely selling some body-altering drug that is based on demon blood.
Eitylen |
I don't remember how we discover the laboratory...Either way, It is probably not a bad time to go murderhobo with he bad guys...after a rest of course.
GM Lemmy |
I don't remember how we discover the laboratory...
You found out one of the toxins in the substance you found in the weird masked gnome was also present in a beverage Tai Leng got at the Viper's Nest. When asked about it, the bartender said he used to get said toxin from an alchemist who lived/worked at that lab. You went there to find out more about the guy and found the guys producing and smuggling the demon blood-based substance. Plus a very weird Halfling and his Ogrekin guardian.
GM Lemmy |
Hey, guys. Sorry for the hiatus... It's been difficult for me to find the time to write the next events... (I mispredicted a few twists and turns... And FFCS makes NPC creation take considerably longer). I intend to make a full post on Thursday. Sorry for the inconvenience... I hope you're willing to stick around and wait just a little bit longer...
Rynjin |
And FFCS makes NPC creation take considerably longer).
Guilty confession: I don't often bother with full builds of NPCs, I just eyeball it and give them what sounds right. Because otherwise it'd take FOREVER.
GM Lemmy |
And you can always use normal classes with perhaps one thing swapped for something else
That's mostly what I've been doing... But I'm worried that at higher levels, the only way to keep up will be with full builds, since your own abilities will synergize too well with each other. In any case, I'll use tomorrow and a bit of the day after that to come up with something for the campaign.
GM Lemmy |
Very well... Roll your Stealth (or take 10... Whatever you prefer)
That same night, Eitylen sees about 10 men in front of the lab. 4 of them quickly load boxes on a nearby horsecart, 4 watch their surroundings, one of them is ready to ride away in the cart and there is also the dark-haired man who pulled a wand on you, watching over it all.
There is no sign of the insane halfling or his ogrekin friend.
Speeding things up from this point forward!
GM Lemmy |
The 4 guards and the dark-haired man get on the cart as soon as all boxes are loaded. They are soon joined by the Halfling and the ogrekin, now reduced to the size of a normal man (and visibly nervous).
The guys doing the loading trade a few quick words among themselves, lock the front door to the lab and then split up and leave.
GM Lemmy |
Eitylen follow the cart, how dark si the night?
The night just fell, and they are still moving through the city (so there are torches and stuff hanging around). You can see them quite clearly.
After trailing the suspicious men for about half an hour, Eitylen sees them entering a large house. It seems more well protected and comfortable than any other in this neighborhood. There is a distinct lack of guardsmen in the area... The streets are calm and mostly empty.
The house itself has 3 floors, with 6 windows each (2 at the front, 1 at each side of the house and two in the back). Most windows are shut tight, but a few ones are open. These open windows lead mostly to corridors, where you can see armed men pass on timed intervals... The one exception is the top window, which seems to lead to a fancy room. A young half-orc with light armor and a scimitar in his hands stands talks to a female human in her early thirties. She carries a longsword and a shield. They seem focused on their discussion, whatever it may be... The two lightly armored men next to them seem pretty bored, though, as if they regretted having a job where they have to listen to those two talk.
On the streets, you see four men quickly unloading the boxes while the Halfling and his ogrekin companion enter the building. The man who shot a Fireball wand at you shouts at the workers to make them speed up their pace. The men who were guarding the cart when they left once again take a defensive position, paying close attention to anyone and anything that moves on the street.
GM Lemmy |
As you wish... Time skip! ABRA KADABRA!
The group soon returns and finds a good vantage point in a nearby building where they can observe the place where the criminals went in. There is no sign of the cart or the men who were guarding it. The men who were unloading the cargo are also mostly gone... One of them can be seen drinking with a friend a few blocks away from the place you're watching.
Brother Cyrus |
"I'm not exactly a tactical genius. I would probably just try to call the Guard down on the place..." Cyrus says while scratching his chin.
Brother Cyrus |
"Then lets round up a few folks who might've heard or seen something when they were moving in here to add credibility to our story. I'm a fairly moving speaker if I do say so myself, so I'll take a look around." Cyrus says before heading to some of the more reputable folks in the area to see if they know anything.
So basically I want to find out who saw/heard something last night and then convince them(If they need convincing) to help.
Gather Information: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Or I'll just bloody take 10. This campaign really is cursed.
"Greetings Sir or Madame, I am gathering evidence and witnesses for the Guard in regards to criminals that may be in the area. Did you see or hear anything unusual last night and are willing to testify with or without reasonable compensation if so desired?" Cyrus asks congenially.
"If we as a community can get the Guard to act sooner rather than later then we may be spared the devious machinations of these foul criminals!"
GM Lemmy |
Seriously... Do you guys wait for me to go to bed to start posting? :P
Lemmy I ask you this, not joking, I'm completely serious: Kill this thread and make a new a one that isn't a congealed mass of everyone else' leftover rolls.
I actually got curious about that... So I checked Tai Leng's last 25 d20 rolls (3, 9, 19, 1, 7, 12, 13, 3, 16, 14, 6, 7, 18, 5, 3, 9, 17, 14, 17, 17, 16, 16, 8, 4, 10)... The average is... 10.88... Slightly above 10.5... Unfortunately, quite a few of those high rolls were used on skill checks, and low rolls tended to happen right after each other... Which causes the illusion of constant bad luck (9, 3 and 5... Sheesh!).
For Brother Cyrus the average is 9.6, but he doesn't suffer so much because in combat he's usually casting a spell, using the Summon Monster SLA or Channeling Energy...
I, OTOH, had quite a streak of bad luck... The average of my last 25 posts is 7.12 (-.-). But it rises to 8.88 for the last 50...
test: 1d20 ⇒ 12 test: 1d20 ⇒ 13
test: 1d20 ⇒ 10 test: 1d20 ⇒ 1
test: 1d20 ⇒ 9 test: 1d20 ⇒ 7
test: 1d20 ⇒ 1 test: 1d20 ⇒ 20
test: 1d20 ⇒ 11 test: 1d20 ⇒ 6
test: 1d20 ⇒ 14 test: 1d20 ⇒ 19
test: 1d20 ⇒ 15 test: 1d20 ⇒ 18
test: 1d20 ⇒ 13 test: 1d20 ⇒ 19
test: 1d20 ⇒ 17 test: 1d20 ⇒ 14
test: 1d20 ⇒ 7 test: 1d20 ⇒ 16
This here would raise my average to 9.8.
Unless I roll a bunch of critical hits against you, it'll take some time for my average to recover from that low-rolling streak. :P
GM Lemmy |
Ahem... Anyway...
People's reactions to Brother Cyrus inquires are... less than forthcoming... They usually deflect the question, leave before he can finish or pretend they don't know what the priest is talking about
"Uh... Criminals? No... I haven't seen any criminals around. This is a peaceful neighborhood! Maybe the most peaceful in all of Blue Shell!"
"Oh... Uh... Sorry! I'm late for work! My wife is calling me! Bye!"
But not all is lost. A few of them... Very, very few... Imply that they wish the guard was more present and effective in this area, but they always avoid giving straight-forward answers, most likely out of fear of someone overhearing their words.
You do find out 2 pieces of potentially useful information, though.
1- The guard occasionally marches through the nearby streets, but they seem to completely avoid this one. You can't be sure if this is caused by fear, bribery, incompetence or a mix of those. In any case, they are unlikely to help you (at least, directly) without heavy incentive. However, some of them would be willing to offer you support in more subtle ways, such as creating a diversion...
2- The house Eitylen observed is more heavily guarded during the night, but it's not impregnable. There is usually 2 pairs of guards patrolling the walls, and something between 6 and 8 more inside. The top floor is occupied by some big-name thug named Cadore. He works for Broken-Nose, but rumor has it that he's been thinking of starting his own organization, and gathering the money and influence necessary for such venture.
Eitylen |
As I see we have two options. We can try to recollect evidence and then call the authorities or we can fight them witch will probably mean kill them. I prefer to catch them alive myself -Yeah, I now making Eitylen this way -the problem is that they probably have bribed some guards, perhaps someone important in the government too. We first have to find who are they and who is supporting them
Brother Cyrus |
"I was thinking the same thing Eitylen though I have come to the other conclusion. You may wish to stay the grim work but some good men must act for evil to perish. The Guard have their fair share of corrupt officials, this we are acquainted with personally. It is evident that someone even higher up is on this scum's payroll as well." Cyrus says whilst placing a gentle hand on Eitylen's shoulder.
"If we don't act quickly, there may be more casualties. Do we risk the lives of the people around us or strike the villains down?"
Tai Leng |
I dunno, I just feel like I haven't really accomplished anything so far when it comes down to it. The success of everything is determined by die rolls, so I get the feeling no matter what I try it's doomed to suck. So let's try the suicidal plan!
"These people are murderers and drug dealers. Killing them is a public service. I say we storm the house of this 'Cadore' and bring him to justice."
Eitylen |
Ok, if that is the only solution... - I like the suicidal plan, if we die we can complain and blame Lemmy
I, however, think we should find who is supporting the guys in order to "deal" with him/her also
GM Lemmy |

Your normal attack rolls have been kinda low, but your Snake Style AoOs were pretty good actually.
(...)if die we can complain and blame Lemmy
You can always do that. All that change sis how much I care XD
Anyway... I suggest you guys at least try to go through one of the windows instead of assaulting the house through the front door, but as always, it's your choice.
