What Eric found appears to be a secret door into what can best be described as a crawlspace. It's tall enough that the dwarfish things you've been fighting could move around quite quickly, but it would be a little tights for the likes of you to use them to move. You can't see far down the tunnel it leads into, but far enough to see that it forks.

It takes Bordan a few minutes to skewer the things fluttering about in the cage, but the ones eating into the body on the table don't move and are easy to get.

The body looks to be that of a vagrant, and critically, not the body you came here to find.

Through the eastern tunnel is a tall hallway. The walls and ceiling are encrusted with dozens of yawning skulls, their mouths open into dark holes
in the walls.

Roj positions himself at the entrance to the narrow tunnel leading to the creepily-decorated one. "You can check that if you'd like, but if I were an evil necromancer, my tunnels would certainly force attackers through the worst of things. That tunnel looks to be the worst of things."

Ok, let's deal with Basil first. I'll update the maps when I get into work tomorrow.

The majority of this room contains a nasty-looking stretch of mud—a partially collapsed sinkhole—kept damp by rivulets of water seeping from the walls. A patch of solid ground extends into the mud to form an island, on which is heaped a reeking pile of body parts. To the north, a rickety wheelbarrow sits on its side against the wall.

In the middle of the room is a beast of the underground. A three-legged freak it's mostly mouth. Three tentacles, two tipped with barbs and one with eyes, extend from its sides.

Perception DC20:
There appears to be another secret door across the room.

Basil - shouldn't your to hit be +6? You have 18 str and are 3rd level so have a BAB of +2. You may want to update things.
