Hey,

is it possible to get a clarification on the state of the fire? Did stuff catch? Is there a wall of fire between Sheerakh and us? Are we in danger of the supports burning out and the 'roof' falling on us? Is there a pillar of fire about to burst into the sky and call forth the guard (and more ghouls, perhaps)?

Since Azghaad went late in initiative, I had him move away and the fire wasn't as extensive as it could have been. But you can assume that some things are on fire (and it's smoking quite a bit in the basement) but there's no immediate and great danger of any explosion or anything like that.

Thank you :)

"Naomi!" yelled Azghaad, running forward, dropping his staff and lifting the little cleric carefully in his arms. He racked his mind for something that might make the difference... he had never studied healing - mundane or magical - but his companions had. "Rubani! Akhmose! Help!"
Actions 1: Pick up Naomi (who I am assuming will be healed) and get her upstairs to safety. No, Azghaad doesn't care about saving the goods down here at the moment, and is ignoring the corpses and prisoner for the moment.
Actions 2: continue to carry Naomi, guard her upstairs.

caveat: it is possible she'll be so healed that Naomi can walk, in which case...
Sheepishly Azghaad put Naomi down, regretting his panic. He stooped to grab his staff, and passed the Scythe to the pharasmin as well.

Dwarf (Pahmet) Paladin (Stonelord) 2

As Azghaad picked up the bleeding form of Naomi, Akhmose asked him to wait before going up the stairs. He lay his hands on her and let the divine power surge through him. "I'm sorry I got you into this mess," he whispers. Bitten once was bad enough but twice was horrific.

LoH: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Seeing that the wounds had stopped bleeding at least, he let Azghaad bear her to safety and turned to Sheerakh. They needed to get him out of there before more ghouls came. He picked up Naomi's hammer and tried to sunder the chain.

sunder: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

guessing that failed.
He hit the chain with a solid blow but it was too hard.
"I was afraid that wouldn't work. Shalina, can you do something about this? Sir, did they bite you?"

heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 to inspect Sheerakh

Shalina gathered with the others around Naomi but soon realized she couldn’t help. Anger at the Sand Scorpions’ hubris flowed through Shalina as Naomi’s blood flowed on to the floor. We should just leave him chained to the wall as punishment for this, she thought. She further contemplated leaving but then realized that Naomi’s injuries would be for not if they left without Sheerakh.

Akhmose wrote:
"I was afraid that wouldn't work. Shalina, can you do something about this?”

Shalina already had her tools out because she had no desire to search through the charred remains of a ghoul to try and find the key. When Akhmose asked Sheerakh if he’d been bitten, Shalina snorted and then coughed as the putrid smells permeated her senses. ”You are being much too kind Akhmose. He does not deserve such considerations. If I could I would drag him out still unconscious and banging his head on every step on the way out, but I am not strong enough...we need him on his feet.” As she spoke she roughly shook Sheerakh to wake him out of unconsciousness. ”You need to help with your rescue!” she yelled near his ear. As the rogue began to stir, Shalina started to work on getting him unchained.

if Shalina can't get him unchained, she will seriously consider cutting off his foot. She doesn't want to be down here any longer than necessary.

Male Half-elf Cleric 2

With the paladin healing the warpriest Rubani stopped to look at his hand. It was dyed red with the blood slowly trickling from the bite wound in his arm. Said wound was severe. Possibly infected with an unholy disease too. And yet the cleric felt an indescribable sense of relief at this, even as pain shot through the appendage. Because now, having been bitten himself, it at least couldn't be said that he had just lead others to their death in a foolish rescue attempt. Should any of his compatriots have been seriously injured or, Pharasma forbid, killed here he wouldn't be able to live with himself. But now here he was, bleeding his own blood for his own dumb idea. If Naomi really was in any danger then so was he, surely. If this was indeed a big mistake then he would at least be paying for it. And that was a comforting thought.

It's also the single most selfish thought you've ever had, Madu. Martyrs don't die to alleviate their guilt.

The half-elf's dusky cheeks reddened with shame, and he looked away from his arm. A Pharasmin priest feeling relief at the prospect of dying to rise as an undead? He truly was ridiculous. He went over to the prone Sheerakh, aiming to getting them all out of here as soon as possible.

Shalina Sekh-at wrote:
”You need to help with your rescue!” she yelled near his ear.

The room burst with light once again from the cleric's holy symbol. It was stronger than before, more radiant as he emptied his reserves. Bruises faded and cuts knitted themselves together under its rays.

Channel energy x 2: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8

"Try him now."

I don't suppose a cursory glance among the ghoul bodies reveals a key?

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

I'll recap later today but...

back to Tooth and Hookah, Namrut's, or other?

i'm thinking we need to get Naomi to some pharasmin with experience in this who can help her and others who have been bitten. Although we would probably get in trouble for doing what we did...
Out of curiosity, will delay poison help with ghoul fever? Does Shalina know?

Ghoul fever is a disease so delay poison will NOT work but since it's transmitted by a bite, Shalina may not know this. I'll let you play her as you want.

Pharasmin priest as in... "Hi, we were told not to go in the Necropolis at night but we sneaked in anyways. And now we need you help..."

I'm OK with this but you need to let me know if that's how you want to proceed.

Male Half-elf Cleric 2

OOC: Rubani absolutely intends to go to the Great Cathedral, unless of course there are some serious repercussions for Naomi. With her being a member of the Voices I imagine there might be, but then again killing skellingtons and ghoulies in the Necropolis is also literally part of her job description.

In the interest of keeping the rest of the party out of hot water Rubani is also more than willing to go with Naomi and Sheerakh alone. Unless I'm mistaken only they three have been bitten. As for how to deal with the Pharasmins I think Rubani is either going to pay or shame them into helping. Possibly both.

Man, this half-elf is going to end up branded as a heretic by his own church the way things are going.

male

OOC: Like I said, I'm fine with this. I would ask to involve the entire group unless it's terribly out of character to do so.

There's also a chance that the disease won't take. Here are the numbers:

Ghoul Fever: Bite—injury; save Fort DC 13; onset 1 day; frequency 1/day; effect 1d3 Con and 1d3 Dex damage; cure 2 consecutive saves.

Which means that 48 hours without symptoms is enough to say that one is cured (or never was affected).

I will keep these rolls secret though.

A heal check will also add +4 to the fortitude save of the 'patient'.

Let me know (or set me up) what you guys want to do next.

Maybe we should wait the 48hrs and then get help if needed. That way, we don't get anyone in trouble unnecessarily. Is there anything else, other than a heal check, that can help in fighting off the disease?

Akhmose will gladly accompany everyone to try to find help from the Pharasmins. Although I'd agree with Shalina's idea of waiting. I missed that Rubani was bitten too.

When he deemed it was safe, Akhmose tended to the wounds, applying poultices to try to draw out any disease or poison.

heal Rubani: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
heal Naomi: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
heal Sheerakh: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Azghaad remains focussed on getting Naomi out. He would ask someone to grab her weapons as he leaves. Though he'd like his staff, he'll leave it to burn if it means leaving Naomi alone

If someone mentions the difficulty of going to the temple with bites
"By the Abyss... If your code means you have to turn yourself in, why did we even come! We could always simply keep it quiet for now, then claim we were attacked when we headed to our new site tomorrow morning! But - your church is hardly the only one. A cleric of Nethys is unlikely to even care, though they will be more expensive. I'm sure we could find an alchemist-chirurgeon who might have some idea as well."
"I'm willing to trade what we've got for cures. Naomi's life - all of your lives - are worth more to me than gold."

Male Half-elf Cleric 2

OOC: Alrighty, so here's the list of what our options actually are.

A potion of Remove Disease would cost us 750 gp.

A scroll of Remove Disease would cost us 375 gp.

Renting a caster to cast Remove Disease would cost us 150 gp.
(And he or she could probably only do so twice a day at most.)

A vial of antiplague would cost us 50 gp.

These are the options I know of. Please speak up if there's something I've missed. In the interest of protecting the party Rubani would concede to waiting for now, but he utterly refuses to do nothing. He will go out to find some vials of antiplague at the very least. He'll pay for these out of his own pocket, and there's not a gat dang thing you can do to stop me. Seriously, Rubani feels really guilty about his party getting hurt on this little expedition, and I myself feel guilty about side-tracking everything like this. Rubani has almost 700 gp burning a hole in his pocket (I didn't buy much in the way of equipment), and I don't particularly care about wealth progression.

So yeah. Potions and scrolls are a wee bit too expensive for us, and I would think that freelance lv.5 casters aren't too common, although we could try to find one. Any thoughts?

Would everyone have left the tavern by now? I believe we have to pick up the snake.
I'd also like to propose some arrangements to help out with the other teams. Good to do that tonight, still covered in blood and ash, but could do tomorrow night, I guess.
(A) everyone turns up to the tavern an hour before sunset
(B) we try to rescue people who haven't turned up
(C) everyone shares where they are, and what dangers they found
(D) anyone stealing from a group runs into all of us

There are still people in the tavern; it's still 'early'.

The other 'arrangements' are too broad in scope and will probably not be adhered by all explorer groups although you may find some that will. This would have to be RPed however.

Actions 1:
Shalina was tired and her clothes reeked but knew that they needed to get help for Naomi, Rubani, and Sheerakh before they did much else. “Azghaad, I know you mentioned a cleric of Nethys as a possibility for help but I have another idea in mind. Years ago, I met someone from the church of Sarenrae who was quite understanding about treating injuries you did not want to explain, let’s say from unsanctioned visits to the necropolis.” Shalina saw a look that was a mixture of surprise and disappointment on her uncle’s face and her cheeks reddened in embarrassment. She had basically admitted to repeatedly sneaking into the necropolis when she was younger which she had never told him. Hopefully he would just chalk this new information up to teenage indiscretion.

She cleared her throat and continued, “My contact would tell me stories about her adventures and I would share other stories I had heard and what I learned from books. We soon became friends and I think she would be willing to help if she’s not out on assignment. She’s a northerner who relocated here about four years ago and has even dealt with ghoul fever before. I’d like to go and see if she’s at the temple before we do anything else. She’s an adventurer herself and is understanding and discreet about unexplainable situations. If we are all in agreement then I will leave immediately.”

Tag everyone

Fabian:
I plan to introduce Nadia as a cleric of Sarenrae if you're ok with that. Nadia relocated after fighting and losing some of her friends. Kind of like retiring to a warmer climate :) I know that technically the world aren't necessarily the same but thought the idea was kind of interesting. If you don't want me to then Shalina's friend will just be out on assignment and we'll find another healing route

"Well, I need to go to the pub and see a man about a snake. It's not fair to leave them holding a construct worth more than a craftsman will make in a decade - or worrying about what happened."

Azghaad will head to the pub - Sheerakh is welcome to come with him, but I assume everyone else (who may have the fever) is on the way to the cleric. He'll stop by 'home' and have a few of his retainers accompany him.

Azghaad walked into the Tooth and Hookah. Pausing just inside the doorway, as was his custom, he identified the various groups, then walked over to the bar.

"It is a custom" he announced to the bar, loudly, "Among warriors, to drink a glass and toast the name of fallen comrades."

"Gather round, my fellow tomb robbers. We have a lot of work to do."

He counts carefully the number of tomb robbers still present, and works out how many drinks he'll need. It's a lot of drinks he reflected sadly.

not sure what the toasting drink of choice is. Ancient Egyptians drank primarily beer and wine. Port, maybe? Shots would be good.

Okay - missing a lot of names here.
DAY 2?
Azghaad lost 4 members on his first day. One was Tissle the halfling. A scholar-Arcanist, a cleric of Sarenrae and two Alchemists. I don't think the others had names yet...
A rogue died in one of the other groups - to a ghoul.
Day 3?
3 Sand Scorpions (Black Kiss, a rogue and the magus). Two were paralysed earlier, but I think they were okay.
so 8?
If the halflings want to count their two dead dogs, Azghaad would be okay with that.

Azghaad lines up the 8 drinks and starts calling the names of the dead. He does his best to say something positive about all of them - hoping the others will fill in for those he doesn't know. He starts to slur a little at the end, and turn a little maudlin.

"I'd heard ours was a dangerous profession, but it seems like half the people in that square with us are dead or retired already. I think it's getting worse. The ghouls weren't trying to kill Sheerakh, I think they were trying to turn him."

He shakes his head
"The guard didn't care about the Sand Scorpions. Just wanted to keep us out. Hardly a surprise - does anyone think the Pharasmins are going to care about tomb robbers? And most of us are outsiders anyway."

"The Sand Scorpions cared more about protecting their site than their lives - their souls! Doesn't matter how rich you are when you're dead."

"All too clear to me - if we don't want to end up another set of names, we need to watch out for each other. After all, we're the only ones who care."

Shalina was planning on bringing the cleric to Namrut's place and not having the sick make their way to her. I would think that those who don't go with Azghaad will remain at Namrut's.

OOC:

@Shalina: I'm Ok with Nadia making an appearance but she's not available tonight (wait until morning).

BTW, Sheerakh is too sick and scared to go anywhere else tonight so he's not at the tavern.

Anyone else with Azghaad?

Dwarf (Pahmet) Paladin (Stonelord) 2

Akhmose feels he has done what is necessary for Sheerakh for now, no need to go to further lengths tonight. The party members he is concerned about although he won't risk losing our charter by going to the Pharasmins now unless they are willing to risk that.

At the tavern, Akhmose asked around for leads on where to get healing. He tried to talk up Agzhaad's plan, laying out the mutual benefits, and raising a toast to the fallen.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

He spoke with Rubani when he got a chance, "You and Naomi should get some antiplague salve as soon as possible. The spells you mention, are they effective before the disease takes hold?"

Not sure where everyone is but I think we all stopped at the tavern. Will go with the wounded for treatment or to look for it. More than willing to use treasure to help.

The next morning Akhmose went to the market in search of Zeilah, the kindly old flower seller who had let him sell some carvings in her stall when he arrived. He wasn't sure if she would be there, but she seemed to know herbs and healing surprisingly well. He hoped she could sell him some medicine or tell him the proper course of treatment.

She was one of the NPCs I named when I submitted my character. She is supposed to be a Thuvian alchemist. Obviously, GM call as to what level she is and whether I can find her, but worth a try to purchase some antiplague or get a spell cast.

there is also the spell diagnose disease. If we can get someone to cast that then at least we'll have some certainty.

Shalina doesn't trust Sheerakh to leave him alone at her uncle's so she will stay at Namrut's to keep an eye on the injured. I'm assuming that Naomi is too ill to go to the tavern as well but I wasn't sure. Shalina will fetch Nadia tomorrow morning as suggested by Fabian. Will write something today after work.

Male Half-elf Cleric 2

Rubani was looking at fingernails, Naomi's specifically. Now back at Namrut's he had instructed her and the still shaken Sheerakh to lie back and stay still. Physical activity agitates diseases, he said. Helps them spread. He was looking over the two for any signs of early-stage necrosis, a typical indication of the unholy ailments. Sheerakh was cooperative, but the warpriest was fidgety and contrary. The cleric wasn't sure if she was putting on a brave face or just uncomfortable with receiving care. Possibly both. He found no blackened fingernails, typically one of the first areas to be affected. This didn't surprise him. Even if she really was infected it was a bit too early to find these signs. Really, he was doing for his own sake as well as theirs. He didn't know what else to do with himself right now.

"You and Naomi should get some antiplague salve as soon as possible. The spells you mention, are they effective before the disease takes hold?"

"Oh yes. As well they should be with their typical price points. That being said, they have a small chance of failure... Certain diseases are strong enough to withstand the efforts of less experienced spell casters; casters such as myself. Heh."

Rubani let go of Naomi's hands and looked at Akhmose.

"But I think you're right. Antiplague is our best bet. Especially with such naturally gifted individuals as Miss Zeitoun. With some assistance her giant-like constitution should be able to fight off the disease. If indeed she even is infected."

He cast a humorous sideways glance towards the warpriest, hoping to lighten the mood in the room. It was bad enough that they had brought ghoul fever into Namrut's home. No need to bring down the atmosphere too.

"You mentioned that you had a contact that could sell us some vials, Akhmose? Could you bring me along to meet this person? I'd like to make some purchases off her. Oh! And if you're going to the tavern..."

The half-elf fished five gold pieces out of a pocket and handed them to the paladin. He explained that their mutual 'friend' Falto, who was looking over their metal serpent, was expecting them. Rubani would go himself but felt compelled to look over Naomi and Sheerahk. With most of the party at the tavern he continued his examination of his two patients, now looking for any especially black bruises that wouldn't fade. Eventually he had to move onto the Sand Scorpion, though he did not do so with enthusiasm.
He had conflicting feelings about the man. On one hand the Grave Guard wouldn't be in this mess if it wasn't for this group of tomb robbers; this group of tomb robbers that he had already warned against fighting ghouls. On the other hand it was Rubani's sworn duty to heal those he could, and he felt an utterly misplaced and yet persistent sense of guilt at people putting themselves in harm's way in a lottery arranged by his own church. And finally, one the freaky grafted third hand of certain alchemist discoveries, the guy had just seen all his friend horrifically murdered and devoured, and came extremely close to joining the undead himself, so Rubani was inclined to cut him some slack.

"Sooo... Sheerakh, was it? My name is Rubani. Would you be willing to tell us about your expedition? Can you confirm that you are the only survivor?"

Rubani takes ten on his Heal, which would then be 18.
Also, before we forget it, with Naomi's departure Akhmose is free to use that magic scale mail, right?

Everyone was focused on the injured or leaving for the tavern so Shalina just slipped out to see if Nadia was at her temple. It didn’t take her long to make her way to Sarenrae’s church. Its proximity was one of the major reasons that Shalina had met the cleric in the first place. It was late but her knock was still answered quickly. When she inquired after Nadia, Shalina learned that she was unavailable until the next morning. Shalina asked for a piece of paper so that she could leave a note.

She quickly scrawled. Nadia, I need help. Ran into some ghouls in necropolis and three were bitten. Please come to Namrut’s. Best, Shalina

Having done all she could for the others that night, Shalina headed back to her uncle's. When she arrived, she learned that Azghaad and Akhmose had gone to the Tooth and Hookah. Rubani was tending to the patients and making small talk with Sheerakh.

Shalina flopped down into a chair. ”I left a note for Nadia. Hopefully she’ll come by in the morning.” Rubani looked haggard and Shalina didn’t think it was good for him to not be resting. ”Rubani, you have done all you can for the others who are injured. You need to rest and help your body fight off any potential disease. I will watch over you three until the others return.”

OOC: we'll have a new PC join us soon so I will delay the turn recap so I can introduce him.

Here's what I have so far:

Rubani stayed with Sheerakh and Naomi at Namrut's.
Shalina went to the Sarenrae temple, left a note for Nadia, and went back to Namrut's.
Azghaad went to the tavern and then back to his place and will show at Namrut's the next morning.
Akhmose went to the tavern and then to obtain some antiplague salve in the morning and then back to Namrut's.

So I think I will pick up the action the next day, mid-morning, at Namrut's when everyone is present.

And I also have an idea about introducing the new PC. He will be the one delivering the antiplague salve that Akhmose bought. He also knows the Thuvian alchemist (who knows Akhmose) so she tells him that Akhmose is very respectful and honest and whatever group of explorers he's involved with MUST be good.

The new PC will deliver the salve and ask to join.

Problem solved with plenty of RP opportunities for everyone. Man, I'm good. :)

Thoughts?

Hello! I am the new guy. I'm willing and able. Please apologize if it takes me a little bit to get used to the format. I promise to do my best! So, what can I do?

You need to write a couple of paragraphs about this scene.

- it's mid-morning and you are walking in the open market when Zeilah calls you;
- you know Zeilah, an old woman who sells flowers and perfumes in the market, who is in fact a Thuvian alchemist;
- Zeilah asks you to deliver 3 antiplague salves to a certain address;
- you are supposed to ask for Akhmose, the dwarf;
- she knows that you want to get into the necropolis to obtain goods for honest trading and also tells you that Akhmose is part of an exploration group and they may be willing to accept a new member. She tells you that Akhmose is 'honest;
- end the scene where you introduce yourself to the group and ask to join the Grave Guard.

Feel free to write what you were doing prior to this scene (night before, week before, etc.)

PS: welcome aboard!

The hot sun, the shining sand, the acrid smells of spice and food, all wrapped in the loud and raucous sounds of the marketplace. It was familiar to Amenon. Too familiar. He belonged out on the sea, selling goods, meeting new people or at least appraising some new artifacts. Instead he was here, doing odd jobs in a marketplace, scraping by and hoping for something to come his way so he could buy some bread tonight.

Lost in his reverie he almost missed the voice calling to him. ”Amenon, Amenon! I have news!”. Turning his head he saw an old woman beckoning to him from behind a stall covered with flowers and spices. He instantly recognized her as Zeilah,a purveyor of...varied goods in the market. He had done a few minor deliveries for her, and she paid well. He happily trotted over to her dust covered stall, dodging through the crowds.

”Good news, Amenon. I have a delivery for you. I need you to take these vials, be discreet. Ask for Akhmose the dwarf, no one else.”. She handed him three small vials and told him an address, lowering her voice in a somewhat melodramatic fashion. Amenon took it gratefully, but his spirit didn't raise much. What was another delivery? Just another day of doing nothing.

Casually Zeilah adds, “Oh, I know you have asked for me to listen for 'honest' groups working in the diggings. This Akhmose is such a one. His group have a reputation for being respectful for the old ways and the old gods.” She looks sly for a moment then goes on, I hear they may be looking for a new recruit.. She smiles at him and turns away, saying over her shoulder, “I may ask for a payment on that favor, young man. So remember it was me who gave you the direction.”

With that, Amenon takes off nearly running through the gritty streets. He slows down as more then one passerby shouts angrily at him for disrupting the streets. Slowing down, he ponders the news. A group of artifact hunters, good honest ones, looking for a new addition? Maybe here was his chance to fulfill the wishes of the gods and , he hoped, his brother in the afterlife.

Reaching the address quickly, he knocks on the door. After Ahkmose identifies himself, Amenon introduces himself, while handing over the antiplauge vials.. ”My name is Amenon Rehment. I am...used to be...a trader in ancient goods and artifacts. Zeilah mentioned you work in the same field, you are in the new diggings in the necropolis?”. When Akhmose nods or signs that he indeed is, Amenon rushes on, eager to seize on this chance. I...I hear you may be looking for a new friend, an ally in this endeavor. I offer myself. I know the city, I know the trade and I know the old ways. I could be invaluable.”. His voice rings with sincerity but also quivers with nervousness.

I hope that is long enough? Did I assume too much/not enough? I will be making his sheet tomorrow. Anything else?

That was perfect.

Just a couple of things. Please write in past tense and we'll also want a physical description of Amenon but you can do that in subsequent posts.

Welcome aboard!

I'll recap tonight and move this along. Please post anything else leading up to Amenon's 'delivery.

Did you want me to write up Nadia's appearance or did you want to take care of it? I know she was my character but I didn't want to just assume she could diagnose and heal everyone (although she is capable if she comes properly prepared with spells). I also wasn't sure if she'd be appearing before or after Amenon.

Let's leave Nadia for the afternoon (next turn). There should be plenty of input opportunities between Amenon and another scene that I'll set up.

Sorry guys but I just got in my hotel room so no recap tonight; hopefully tomorrow.

Akhmose rose early, doing his devotions quickly before visiting the market. "The gods smile on you Zeilah, I hope you can help us." After he explained their needs, the old woman said she would send the salves after she had time to acquire the ingredients and make them. The dwarf made a payment and returned to Namrut's abode and waited, pacing the floor impatiently.

That afternoon, he answered the knock at the door, and found himself facing the muscled chest of a visitor. Looking up, he thanked him and started to give him a few coins for the delivery, but the stranger seemed interested in further discussion. If Zeilah recommended you talk to us, then I would certainly hear you out."

Akhmose stood for a moment, trying to work out the etiquette for inviting a friend of a friend into a home where one was a guest. Finally he asked him to sit in the courtyard and fetched him some tea. "Please wait here, we could use someone with your knowledge and skills, but I must consult my companions, and also treat the ones who are injured." He went back inside and called for the others.

Err, should I respond IC in Akhmose or wait for the recap? I promise to get this format down! With some practice...

Hey Fabian: I guess Azghaad is not putting anything to the crowd, just sowing seeds. I hope I've the timing right - Azghaad would be arriving about now?, or already arrived?

Quote:
Almost at the same time that Rubani and Shalina came back with Akhmose, a very haggard looking wizard appeared at Namrut’s door. He moved slower than usual and the dark shadows under his eyes told a ‘rough night’.

Action 1 - I am guessing the snake is with Az's retainers? How much did he lose at the pub last night?

The young Garundi man squinted painfully in the bright of the desert morning sun, his noble's robes now also encompassing a large hood that shaded his face. "How." he asked with finality "Are you so gods-damned chirpy this morning Akhmose? Is it Alchemy? Gods... I hope it's Alchemy. Whatever it is, tell me you can repeat it. Oh... I need coffee. Real coffee."

He looked over the young man waiting in the courtyard "Who's this?" he asks Akhmose, rudely ignoring the young man.

Action 2
Azghaad trails in after Rubani
"No! Not after all we went through! What do we do, Rubani!?"

Amenon stretched out in the warm morning sun. It glinted off his bald head, and warmed the bench beneath him. As he watched the dwarf, Akhmose, turn back into the house, he smiles. Perhaps his luck was turning around? But all this talk of healing and the antiplauge vials themselves did not speak of a happy day. Still, the weather was nice. Amenon stood up, throwing his thick arms wide, in the sunlight. His broad, bare torso flexes, and he barely feels the constant sunburn such (lack of) clothing costs him. Muscles ripple along his back and stomach as he takes in the bright warmth of the sun, feeling it's power and pride. Then, in a gesture of supplication, he clasps his huge and callused hands together and bows his head.

“I thank you, Ra. For giving me this chance, with these adventurers. I shall not fail you.” He prays, in his usual clumsy but honest fashion. Who else but the gods could have provided this chance to prove himself?

As he looks back up at his surroundings he notices a very hungover man catch Akhmose at the door and talk. Amenon soon realizes they are talking about him. Deciding to be diplomatic he doesn't interrupt but he does follow them inside, when they enter, doing his best to do so politely. Amenon would not miss this chance due to a grumpy wizard.

Action 1
It was about halfway through the morning when Shalina finally realized that she had been pacing laps around the house. With every hour that ticked by, she worried that Nadia hadn’t received her note which meant the outcome of their current situation may not be as positive as she hoped. This nervous energy had been funneled into her constantly moving throughout the home in a discernible pattern.

She heard the knock and made her way to the door because she was expecting Nadia. She barely avoided crashing into Akhmose as she rounded a corner. Admittedly she was disappointed to learn that it wasn’t the help at the door that she was hoping for but she was intrigued by the arrival of someone new.

She followed the paladin into the courtyard. The figure waiting for them was imposing in stature but there was something about his presence that seemed pleasant. Akhmose became derailed by Azghaad’s arrival and questions, leaving Rubani and herself with the man in the courtyard. With her usual ease and a smile on her face she said, “My name is Shalina and this is my uncle’s home. Consider yourself welcome. Akhmose had announced your arrival but he omitted a name. What do we call you and what has brought you here?”

Tag Amenon

Action 2
Shalina knew that her uncle's help wouldn’t interrupt them if it wasn’t serious. An overwhelming feeling of dread came over the bard as she accompanied the others back into the house. Her fears were not assuaged when she saw Sheerakh's condition. She wasn’t experienced with ghoul fever but his appearance was not encouraging. For a second time within a day, she thought that they should have just left him chained to that wall because his state meant that Naomi’s severe injuries had been in vain.

Azghaad wrote:
"No! Not after all we went through! What do we do, Rubani!?"

Azghaad obviously had similar feelings as herself. However, she worried that Sheerakh was now beyond any means of healing. Before Rubani could answer Shalina voiced her intention, ”If he cannot be healed then he cannot be allowed to complete the transformation.” She knew her words sounded harsh but they had sacrificed enough for the sake of the folly of others. Her altruism and come to an end.

Male Half-elf Cleric 2

I have deducted 150 gp from Rubani for 3 vials of antiplague.

Action 1
Rubani's lips had been going a mile a minute for almost a full hour, soundlessly wording prayers, but he was slowly winding down now. The cleric was kneeling on the floor and had just finished his morning devotion. Upon opening his eyes he was surprised to see that he wasn't alone in the room. Such was his concentration that he hadn't noticed Akhmose entering; the paladin, being familiar with these morning rituals, had chosen not to interrupt and had simply waited for the half-elf to finish up for the past minute. Rubani apologized for making him wait, but the dwarf just stated that they they were needed in the courtyard. Their delivery had arrived and they had been given a little something extra.

Having made his way out Rubani was just a bit taken aback by the man standing there. It was a testament to the man's physique that it was enough to distract the cleric from the hungover Azghaad. After a quick introduction the half-elf responded in kind.

"I am Rubani Madu, menial servant to Pharasma," he said with a small bow and a smile. "Thank you so much for your delivery. You don't know how much it means."

Welcome to, Amenon. Really like your posts.
Will be going back to this conversation as responses come in, but until then...

Action 2

Azghaad Glyphstele wrote:
"No! Not after all we went through! What do we do, Rubani!?"

"First of all, I need you to take his other shoulder. He shouldn't be up and walking. We need to get him back to his bed."

The wizard and cleric helped Sheerakh back into the house. Rubani turned the rogue's face towards him, examining the young man's eyes as they walked, worry written over his own face. He was no expert when it came to ghoul fever but this was all but a confirmation; Sheerakh was afflicted. They didn't get far, however, as Shalina spoke up.

Shalina Sekh-at wrote:
”If he cannot be healed then he cannot be allowed to complete the transformation.”

Rubani stopped in his track. He turned and gave her a queer look. He hesitated, as if mulling something over, and then gave her an incredibly insincere smile. It was a smile born of resignation and surrender. The party had seen something similar in the cleric's self-deprecating moments.

"Ah, but see that is this particular affliction's one great mercy. Ghoul fever is not easily healed, but there are few diseases simpler to 'correct'. Only those killed by the actual ailment rise to propagate and spread the taint. Should one have the great fortune to expire before the fever takes you then that's that. No transformation. No wallowing in soul-searing undeath for eternity. No danger to anyone else. Heh. You see the irony, of course? An unholy affliction that spreads undeath; that state of being powered by necrotic energy, an energy utterly antithetical to our very plane of existence, our plane of life... and the simplest cure is death? That's brilliant."

Rubani's smile faltered. It needed to be said. Everyone needed the reassurance.

"Miss Sekh-at, know that if I have to choose between saving the young man's body or his soul I shall not hesitate. I shall do it myself. Likewise, should we find that I am infected then I shall leave you, thank you for our time together, go out into the desert and neither you nor anyone else will ever see me again."

He gulped.

"But this is not what we should be concerned with right now. 'Where there is life, there is no death. And where there is death, there is no life.' Right now this young man is very much alive. And we're going to try to keep him that way."

"So where are those vials? Akhmose? Mr Rehment?"

Fabian, I'm assuming that we're not going out adventuring today, so Rubani prepared three casts of Diagnose Disease. One of them just became redundant, I guess.
