I'm sorry to break it to you, but undead gains immune to morale effects as a racial feature :P
But, yes - onwards to the plot :D
*goes off to finish the last touches on Viktor*
Edit: Right, there was something I was supposed to ask!
Soheis get a few mount related perks - but not anything to actually ride. Since Viktor is level 7 and this is an evil campaign and all, I was merely wondering about the prospects of using the Leadership feat to gain the service of an Nightmare?
Under the current CR->level scheme for monsters, an Nightmare (CR 5) would qualify for the 25p stat array, but probably not any extra class levels or templates (I would like to apply the Nightmare template, if only to have a Nightmare Nightmare^^).
The Monstrous Mount add on to the Leadership feat does not list the Nightmare. In addition, any sort of monster gains a rather big 'inflation' to its power. It consider the Hell Hound (CR 3) to be equivalent to a 7th level NPC.
Thoughts ?

Immune to morale effects yes...
you lust for vengeance, you have desires. Therefore you experience emotions... You fear destruction... Or at least have a modicum of self preservation ... So I would rule as many dms I've had in the past...
only undead whom are mindless truly never experience emotion. Undead are immune to magical morale effects. They have thoughts and can experience emotion, their emotions are not human, and are not animated by life energy and cannot be subjected to mind effecting spells, but can feel fear and other emotions. At least from a role playing standard.
Viktor Esperkrantz |
Yes, the undead can experience emotions but their hearts are dead. Instead they are ruled by their (lack of) minds. Rational thought as opposed to irrational feelings.
But I digress, the impasse was merely meant to be in jest : )

Sorry about how long it has taken to really get this going
All of my company has left as of this morning and finally getting back to doing stuff, so to speak, including getting this going. So Part 1, as a facet of this yes you could certainly use the Leadership Feat and essentially Summon a Nightmare (Much as I used to imaging Night Hags doing) to act as a Mount/Cohort.
So yes to the Nightmare.
I do not see that you have the Feat, so is this a thinking in advance when you get a new Feat taking the Leadership one and then a Nightmare could appear, or what?
Not sure how I feel about it being a Nightmare templated Nightmare as of yet. It seems picky, but where is the dreaming connection vice a Vampire Riding a Sentient Intelligent Evil Flaming Nostril Demon Horse connection. Might be too many years of Call of Cthulhu in me but not sure on that. Can always discuss further.
Yes to the Nightmare. Yes to the 25 Point Array. Not yet to the Nightmare Template.

I always figured intelligent undead should be able to be barbarians also.
Lets see
From a conceptual point of viewBarbarians, Rage Powers, Unchecked Beserkers (Usually) of killing
I personally think a Cold Hearted, Cold Blooded, Uber rational Beserker is more than reasonable. My case in point is not Fafhd but Karl Edward Wagner's Kane character (which I would stat as both Beserker/Wizard actually).
But back to here
Barbarian
Attack without heeding danger to self, tapping inner powers of rage (why do I suddenly think of Mystery Men right then)
Undead like a Wight or a Grave Knight
Yes I see no reason why you could not have that. Especially if they were Barbarians in life, then become undead. If they are strong enough in will (i.e. NPC normally) then why not let them retain their Barbaric Powers. Normally I would rule they would not advance in their class, but advance in their new 'Racial' type instead.

I have not yet picked my 7th level feat - since Leadership can be touchy and I wanted to run it by you first. But Viktor will start with the feat then :)
The Nightmare template was mostly since, well, a Nightmare Nightmare would be amusing ^^ Nothing I need or really want super much : )
However, the clock is running late over here so I'll fix it tomorrow.
Cheers! And I hope all went well!

Yes sorry about that. I have had out of state company for a good 2 weeks now, people on couches, driving back and forth to Tampa and Orlando almost daily or more, along with a nice Beach Wedding for our son on July 4th. But back to work, back to our house, and back to writing and gaming in here. Again apologies.

Well - first you need blood. A decent amount, atleast 5 teaspoons. Then you need a demonic sign and ...
Nah, its just alot of characters similar to "'", "¨" and "´" that is tacked on to the script (u + ¨ = ü). I saw it a few years back when it was popular to spam on social sites with creepy messages, and I thought it was perfect for things like summoning rituals and Shadowtounge.
Do note that I believe every single little *thingy* is a separate character, so don't put that text anywhere where that is limited. (ie - if you try to text an 'improved' text, remember that each altered character basically amounts to 10-25 ordinary)

Sorry for vanishing. I worked almost a week's worth of overtime from Thursday thru Monday of the holiday weekend. I'm still trying to get back on top of everything that fell by the wayside.
I'm posting this in all my games, then I'll go try to catch up and actually post in them. Expect something from me by the end of the weekend, if I don't get stuck with more overtime...
Sanriel |
I am so very glad that as a character Sanriel is specifically written to let folks get away with planar summoning and undead animation in front of him. Cuz nightmares are one of those things that Sanriel would be honor bound to slaughter otherwise.
Second, anyone know of an item that grants at will speak with animals?
Way my characters abilites roll out means having such an item removes the need for wild empathy (which im not so great at) in exchange for my stupid high diplomacy score.
*sigh* Though this game actually beginning to roll means I need to get off my duff and stat this guy out.
Viktor Esperkrantz |
Oh, right.
Paid a high price to stop the demonic incursion - then I go and bring one right to his doorstep ^^
Ops ...
Sanriel |
You are so very far down Sanriels list of problems that it might take centuries for that to become an issue. The lesser sin of working with one who has a demon in its employ can be forgiven. However to tarry in mending the break in the world that pours countless monsters from the void every minute? that is unforgivable.
So regardless of your choices you are in no distinct danger from Sanriel for a very long time. I mean unless you give him a good opportunity to kill you, like betraying the party. Once we actually get to meeting our employer and Sanriel verifying her power he is likely to go along with it, and knowing a few in the party already Sanriel is unlikely to try anything without knowing the rest of the group will either back down or help him.
Death is inconvenient for him even if he does not stay in its clutches for long.
I can say that it is unlikely that Sanriel will be best friends with Viktor on discovering he is a demon binder but he will work with him.
Viktor Esperkrantz |
If it eases your mind, Nightmares are actually not Demons (CE from the Abyss). They have closer ties to Daemons (NE from Abbadon).... ^^
You could also procure a large number of Gnomes, for your Speak with Animal needs ^^
Sanriel |
*chuckle* well I would have no issue with my magic items being made out of things like gnome skulls and finger bones. tribal trinkets scrimshawed with vines and rolling waves of foliage would not be out of place.
I'll have to get around to the rest of it today, suffice to say I will absolutely pay the 4000gp price for a slotless item which would allow me to speak with the creatures of the world.
If such an item would be permitted by Remnant that is.
@viktor, its less an issue of the type of planar creature and more that a nightmare has absolutely no right or holdings on the material plane. They don't belong here and permitting them in now only means the gates are weaker the next time you want to stop them.
Druids are pretty stalwart about the undead/outsider thing. Siabrae gives me quite a bit of leniency with undead. I'm still thinking Sanriel will have a pretty big dislike of planar beings in general with demons having a special section all their own.
GM_Remnant |
@Sanriel
I have no issue with a simple magic item that allows him to speak with creatures of the world. That is not something which will unduely unbalance anything. You may need to remind me once in a while when you want to go and talk to a Squirrel, but all good.
This should prove to be interesting in some facets very swiftly.
Sanriel |
with a homer-esque "Urge to kill, Rising..." moment. Way I've got him in my mind its going to take a lot to break Sanriel and have him try to kill you just for what you are.
Now two centuries down the line he might come knocking to give blessed mercy to the twisted mockery of life that you are.
Until then? you are quite safe.
Sanriel |
*shifty eyed glance* Right...
Oh look there I am.
EDIT:
The more i look at the little rhyme thing the dumber it is seeming. I'll see what I can figure out.
Zorryn |
That's what I figured. Then Rizzen's shape-shifting should be the same I think.
Going to craft a Greater Hat of Disguise asap in game. Couldn't find a reason why I should've crafted one before but now that you guys have disguises Zorryn will realise that is a good idea.
And it's going great in this meeting so far :D

@DeathK/Crixx - Sorry, did not notice that he in fact started at the table. Consider Viktors hostile glares at his poor etiquette ever-present : )
