Tolheimia Brass post HERE

The discussion and chatter has been nonstop since the group initially arrived. As people broke off to hunt, explore and discuss their future, many began to assemble into smaller groups, often into cliques of friends that hung out together in the demi-plane. Here and now some of the same groups reformed and you note that one of Goodwin's Daughters, one of the half construct golem race, created by Goodwin has been organizing and assembling many of your kin into a large organized unit. She had sent some off to hunt or explore, according to their skills, while she requested casters to prepare various spells for the ordeals ahead. You know her as Tolheimia Brass. After a while she addresses the group in a powerful voice. "There are some of us who deem the lake to be a good starting place. We wish to visit it first, and perhaps gather food and take shelter there for a few days. From there we will move cautiously and learn what we can of this world. There are many of you who will do better moving swiftly and utilizing your skills in other ways. We will do our best to maintain contact with all of you. Jovar will come with us, and be a messenger of sorts between the groups. Those to whom I have spoken, please gather with us now, we leave immediately for this lake. Thank you brother Grobly for your scouting prowess."

The construct woman bows, tightens a short white cotton robe, and casts light on the tip of a staff she fashioned from a sapling. She begins to slowly lead a large group away towards the lake. Several members fan out as scouts in front of the company. The sun gleams off of her one brass colored arm, and off of her legs, brass from the thighs down. She turns one final time and says, "Goodspeed. May we see some of you soon." before leading the large group away.

Our starting point, <pre goat Fight> we will be a group that broke of early into the woods/lake and our camp site, if that's ok guys.

She had just done talking with Tolheimia for her group, why, well that was down to Tolheimia. She suspected Tolheimia wanted teams come groups to have a little of every skill and craft going. Some of the names on the list she know. Their talk was to had to the lake and see what they could find, once there Tolheimia would give them more instruction. It seem like a sound plan, going as one big group would scare any game away, and they needed to find food and see if the lake was fresh.

She Called out the names that have been given to her.

"GOGGH! QUERCUS ROBAR! VAMIK SHEEVES! SNOW ICESCALE! YOUR WITH ME, PLEASE COME OVER TO WE CAN GET READY"

She waited a moment the repeated the call to her fellow group members.
Her land from was big-ish so other kept out her way, she was off to one side from the main grouping. She was a little pensive, Snow she know he had been in one of her classes. Every one new Vamik, he was a real gentalrat and was always thought well of. She thught she spotted Goggh, he an large orc and one could not really miss his size. She had seen Quercus around but they had never really spoken. She called out again.

"GOGGH! QUERCUS ROBAR! VAMIK SHEEVES! SNOW ICESCALE! YOUR WITH ME, PLEASE"

Lol... Large Orc... Goggh is a freaking Ogre!

From far, Goggh could barely see the merfolk screaming. As strange as she would look with her fused eidolon, she wasn't still very noticeable, even being further from the group.

The ogre scratched his shoulder - in a giant and purulent growing that almost look like an extra head - and then he smiled, gentle, but continued in his activities. He was mostly interested in finding his friend, Vamik, and didn't particularly cared for the screaming lady barking orders.

He, he... - he laughed to himself, very low and strong voice, thinking about the idea. It sounded funny to him.

Quercus clutched his spell book tightly. Everything had moved so fast. First, the awakening, then the quick exodus. Everyone was confused and panicked. Before long people began to wander away. Vaguely at the outskirts of his hearing he heard someone shouting his name. The was strange, he didn't really hang out with any of the others. While he was always friendly and pleasant, Quercus had been one to just stay in the groves outside the sanctuary of Master Goodwin's home. He studied the animals and focused on his mastery of martial prowess and war blessings. When he wasn't practicing forms and katas, he would be bark deep into his arcane studies.

He shuffled cheerfully over to Zarissa. "What is all the shouting about?"

After a few minutes of scurrying through the throng of creatures, Vamik finally made it over to Goggh.

"Goggh, there you are! I've been looking all over for you. I can't see a thing in this throng of monsters. Hey, I don't suppose you would mind giving me a lift would you? All I've been able to see since I got here is the underside of tails. And the smell! I guess we've all been asleep for some time and haven't bathed, but the stench coming off this lot is caustic. And I should know. I used to live in a sewer."

Vamik looks around annoyed as creatures hurrying by nearly step on him. He tucks his tail under his arm to keep it safe. "I keep hearing our names being called from somewhere over there. No doubt, they require wise leadership and are seeking us out. Shall we investigate?"

Snow was, to put it lightly, nervous. She was quite used to and had been quite fond of life in on the Demiplane where things were all carefully controlled and structured by Father, they were all a big, if a bit odd, family and it all sort of just -worked- even when Father was too busy to attend to them personally his creations the Golems saw too it that all of there training and learning progressed properly. So unlike her last family, life among the Kobolds was pure chaos only occasionally controlled by the fear they held for the creature they had believed to have been one of her parents.

Now her entire peaceful comfortable life was all falling apart VERY quickly, first Father vanished, now there home was apparently either breaking down of was already broken, Snow had no full understanding of how that had worked as such magic was FAR beyond her scope of understanding. Now everyone was in a strange field talking and moving about hurriedly and from the looks of things nobody even had time to grab any sort of equipment, some seemed to have important things, the sort of items that they kept on there person at all times. But aside from that there was nothing. Snow was rather thankful that her crossbow had been on hand when everything had gone crazy.

All of it had been just a bit too much for her but thankfully Aurora was an excellent judge of her mood and with a friendly croon the large bird positioned itself for Snow to climb onto her back, without magical assistance flight with Snow on her as not necessarily easy for Aurora but they had no need for a long trip, Snow simply needed to clear her head. Taking to the sky Aurora and Snow drifted around the area where the family as assembled as Tolheimia seemed to be taking some measure of control of the situation and not long after that Snow heard a distinctly familiar voice shouting her name along with a few others.

"Lets go girl, Zerrisa is calling" Snow said nudging Aurora's sides with her knees to direct her to where they needed to go. Drifting in atop Aurora shortly after the others Snow gave Zarrisa a wide smile after dropping off of Aurora's back.

Goggh is a freaking Ogre! O Me bad

Zarrisa stopped calling, as she spotted them coming now, good, there was Snow and Aurora heading over, over to one side Goggh acting as steed for Vamik who had his hand over his face as if there was a bad smell, Did Goggh have a stong smell? She had never got that close but she hoped not, a ripe smelling Ogre would be sniffed out buy any pray with a nose they wished to catch. O well, we can only do our best. Then she spyed out Quercus. Well that was all of them, she now waited for them to arrive. As she did she create water and doused herself with it to keep her skin hydrated. She wished she had her spear, but her hybrid from had its own weapons. She flexed her tail. Well if there was things in the woods she would do her best. Wearing little clothing she cast Endure elements as she did every day. She then took out her Harrow desk and pulled out one card at random.

This is the lawful good card of wisdom. It represents the couatl, the bridge of understanding between the towers of knowledge and judgement.

Wisdom interesting, represents willpower, common sense, awareness, intuition, and perception, and may indicate facility with divine magic. Broadly symbolizes ancient history, morality, and the gods. Will is seems out little group will could be one of many things, all sensible. Humm

As Goggh made his way over to Zarrisa, Vamik was finally able to take in his surroundings. He never realized how many creatures had been taken in by Goodwin. Large and small. All shapes and sizes. It was quite the zoo spread out before them. Each and every one personally selected by Master Goodwin. He sincerely hoped that wherever Goodwin was, that he wasn't too bored. He was assuredly in grave danger. Of that, Vamik had no doubt, but better to be dominated by some magistrate of the lower planes and forced to do unspeakable acts than to be chained to a wall unable to perform experiments of any kind. Ten thousand years of boredom was about the worst punishment he could think of.

Presently the two arrived at a small knot of monsters off to the side of the main crowd. The first thing vamik noticed was an extremely large bird. His first instinct in that moment was to flee. He jumped down from Goggh's shoulder and set to run. But no, that was just his annoying ratlike instincts kicking in. He took a deep breath to calm his anxiety like Goggh and him had done so many times in their rehabilitation sessions together with the counselors in Goodwin's home. This bird was well under control by a lizardfolk who stood by its side. Vamik vaguely recognized this lizardfolk, and searched his memory for a name. Something about winter on account of her white scales.

Other monsters were there as well. They seemed to be huddled near a small mossy tree. Vamik might not have recognized Quercus were it not for his mischevous monkey familiar. Quercus had been more than generous in his donation of plant matter for Vamik's studies in the past. But that sneaky little primate had stolen reagents on more than one occasion. Usually, to get his reagents back, Vamik would bribe the little thief with fruit or shiny baubles. Apparently, the monkey remembered him. He scurried down from Quercus's branches and raced around Vamik in the trampled grass chattering. Vamik quickly conjured a prestidigitation acorn which seemed to satisfy the monkey for the moment. He looked up to see Quercus smiling, and returned the smile. Vamik liked Quercus, a quiet and peaceful soul, always willing to lend a hand.

With the monkey satisfied, Vamik turned to face the one who had called them over, Lady Zarrisa. She was an impressive sight. Her sleek black scorpion form glistening in the midday sun ought to have been a terrible sight to behold, yet somehow Zarrisa made it look like the most noble and natural thing in the world. Vamik had only interacted with her before in passing, and had never really sat down and gotten to know her. Maybe because of her intimidating presence, or maybe because they simply had little in common. The grave look on her face made it clear that she had something important to tell them. Vamik decided to try and keep the mood light.

He stepped forward and made his introduction. "It's good to see that the wise golems have decided to put all the best monsters together into one group. It's good to see you all again, thought the circumstances could have been better. Quercus, you are looking good! Are those new leaves? Your branches look fuller than last time we spoke. Lady Ollron, always a pleasure." Turning to Snow, "Apologies, my reptilian friend, I don't believe we have been properly introduced. My name is Vamik, of the illustrious Sheeves family. You probably haven't heard of them unless you frequented the sewers of Sothis. Beside me is my dear friend Goggh. A gentler soul or truer friend you will not find."

Goggh helps Vamik up, and then follows his friend. The gentle Ogre is a paladin of Irori, and acts as such - a beacon of peace and serenity.

Hey there! - he nods to the others, complimenting them after the ratfolk - Irori be with you all, and strengthen your fists if the hands work lawfully.

He crosses his arms and looks at the horizon, letting his large shadow cast. Where would be Goodwin?

Trying to not advance any more and wait for the GM... He's finishing preparing something and going over our sheets.

"always good to meet you master Vamik, and also so gentalratly"

"and with you Goggh,"
She says to the blessing,

"Thank you Quercus, that is most kind"
She eats them, and gives him a big smile.

Then to the group
"We have been asked to be an exploratory group, it was felt we as a group had a good blend of skills and talents. Now we don't all know each other, that well I know I don't, so I think it may be a good idea to share what skills and talents we have. I'll go 1st, I'm lady Zarrisa Ollron, of the sea realms, a merfolk, I think of know that much, but I like to be called, just Zarr, it's simple and I like the sound. As you may suspect I'm more at home underwater, the synth, blended body helps me deal with land. It has a sting, can claws which I hope will keep me safe. I can use most weapons and armor and have training as such. I have magics both divine and arcane, and can heal you if needed, I am a cleric of luck, And as such a reader of the harrow, and have a deck for such use. My hope is it will show us the way. So over to you all"

She smells and seems happy to wait on your turns.

"Now that you mention it, Quercus, I am rather hungry. What's it been, ten thousand years since our last meal?" Vamik happily takes a berry. "you want to know about talents eh? Well, ol' Goodwin (May he be healthy and safe) provided everything we ever needed, so I'm a little out of practice, but I did have a reputation once as a rat who could get things. I expect the world hasn't changed so much. I'm guessing a well place bribe or a light touch could still come in handy. As for my arcane talents, they are at your disposal. Whatever is in my power to do I shall do gladly for the group. As far as fighting is concerned, I may not look it, but I'm scrappy. Make no mistake. In fact, Goggh and I, we make a pretty good fighting team. Grab and stab. He's grab, and I'm stab!" Vamik thrusts his small claws out rapidly several times to illustrate the point. "Just ask Goggh. He'll tell you all about it."

Yes. I am Goggh, Paladin of Irori, proud disciple of Goodwin. I know spells too, but my real talent is grabbing and crushing. Heh! Heh! - his smile was innocent and friendly - Well, I suppose I can punch stuff well too, but I guess it should be granted!

He shows the size of his hand, before bursting into laughing from Vamik's joke again.

As the others introduced themselves and at Zarr's suggestion began explaining what they were capable of Snow did her best to settle Aurora who had become quite agitated by the arrival of Vamik, thankfully it took little more than a bit of hushing to keep her companion reasonably calm "It is ok Aurora, Vamik is family" Snow said stroking the young Roc's head soothingly. While Snow did not know Vamik particularly well that did not change the fact that much like herself he was one of Goodwin's adopted children and thus that made him family in Snow's mind just as it did Zarr, Quercus, Goggh and everyone else.

"Oh thank you" Snow says as she takes berry(s) offered to her though only after the others had already taken what they wanted, Snow was somewhat familiar with what Zarrisa could do though having it all explained more fully was pleasant even if she had little practical understanding of how Zarr did what she did with her cards. Snow was left a bit unsure how she felt about what Vamik described about where his talents lay as they were a bit morally questionable but if those talents were being put towards finding father then perhaps it was not SO bad after all? Gogghs were the most simple of those who had explained there talents so far but almost certainly his ability to 'grab and crush' more than made up for the simplicity if for no reason other than his size.

"Aurora and I work together, im not very strong but I have magic and I have my crossbow and Father and the Golems have always said I have some skill for finding ways to make others fight better, usually just Aurora though..." Snow says shifting the heavy ranged weapon into both hands to better display it to the others "Aurora is still is not quite fully grown so we have to use magic to make me riding her particularly effective. Aurora flies incredibly fast and her beak and talons are very sharp." Snow explains as Aurora stands a bit taller under the praise "I can also cook and I have always been very good with animals, usually better than with people."

Retro/Catch up/History/Introduction

This is the storyline for this table. It will mimic the other tables somewhat, but is also a fast track version and of course has a somewhat alternate beginning.

Your group began as members of the large group of assembled family, in the clearing after the exodus with the rest. As some groups splintered off or went their own ways, you remained with the Tolhemia led group until you could determine what sort of decision to make. The large group moved slowly, foraging and hunting and scouting as it made its way to the lake. At the lake the group efficiently set up camp and create shelters for the night. Food that was collected was distributed and those with magical abilities lent aid where able. As night set in everyone hunkered around the campfires to stave off the cold alpine air. While it did not get to freezing, it was close, and for those without fur, you are effectively naked/underdressed, wearing whatever you wear to bed, having no clothing with you after exiting your magical stasis chamber.

The large group sang into the night, and then retired with plans to leave the mountain plateau the next day after lengthy discussion.

Early next morning the camp was attacked by goatlings. It was a very large group and there was an ambush and a mad scramble as the melee began. Before your paricular group was able to lend aid, the large solid structure you were in partially collapsed, preventing you from being able to escape quickly. While Goggh strained with his strength to move the timbers and stones, aided by the others, the battle raged outside quickly. It was over fairly quickly, and the goatlings were subdued or surrendered. Your group was able to escape the collapsed structure, but was not able to fight. As the camp healed and picked up the pieces, scouting groups were sent to check on and take word to the other camps. As discussions with the goatlings began through the use of magic, it became apparent that the goatlings were not evil. In fact there had been a misunderstanding, given your sudden appearance.

Further discussion further cemented the idea that the group would leave the plateau and by mid day they were heading south along the beach, passing through other campsites recently vacated by the other groups. As you moved through the gap in the mountains to the hills below, following the river, you gazed at the majesty of the rugged terrain spread before you. The group pushed ahead, and in fact some of the goatlings had remained with the group moving ahead and also delivering messages to their leader. There was an understanding that the lands beyond the narrow strip of rugged hills that the goatlings claimed as their territory, lived dwarves and humans, and that less than a day's travel downriver would take one to their border fortress. Rumor has it that one of the original groups had passed this way already. It was Tolhemia's goal to first visit the goatling main village and confer with their leader, but soon it was discovered their leader would be coming this way and actually going to the plateau as part of some ceremony.

Tolhemia and several others met with the leader very briefly before parting ways again. At that point she assembled everyone and advised that she would lead a group towards the goatling village to stay for the night at the invite of Golden Ram, even though he would not be there. She advised others that it may also be a good idea to fan out into the world and seek other avenues of information and exploration. Several groups who had coalesced in the prior day or were already friends, formed together and yet a few more groups parted ways. One such group is your own.

This will not require too much retro of the gameplay above, as the basic idea is the same, although the some of the exact wording introduced by Zarissa to kickstart some of the RP wouldn't fit precisely, its moot now. Feel free to take it from here. You are in the hills near the river, it is day 2 probably early evening, it will be dark very soon. Tolhemia and still a large group leaves to shelter with the goatlings. Your group has a decision to make. Also, the group did hunt and forage as it moved, which is why it was rather slow. Feel free to make rolls to provide food, water, and basic wilderness safety and competence rolls for the remainder of the day.

It is also not just instantaneous, you don't walk to the river and then grab some fish out usually :) So you probably spend a good portion of your evening engaged in that activity, but you will have some reasonable success.

Vamik spent most of the day scurrying around looking for useful items. He knew his talents did not lie in drawing from the land itself, but from those who inhabited the land. He offered to trade his skills in alchemy for other useful items. Seeing that most of the family had very little, and what they did have was precious to them, he pressed the goat men for supplies. He freely repaired clothes and tools with his mending cantrip, cleaned or colored items using prestidigitation, and tried to get any item he could, no matter how useless it may seem.

I don't know if I can actually get anything this way, but I'll take whatever.

After a day's work of foraging, Vamik joined the group around the fire. He spread his meager collection of trade goods on the grass before him. "So, another day in paradise. How's everyone holding up? This is a beautiful place. Very wild and barren. I'm used to living in a city where one man's trash is another rat's treasure. With that in mind, I say we get to civilization as quickly as possible. Staying with the goatfolk could get us a few sundry tools, but that's about it. I will need a proper apothecary if I want to make anything useful with my alchemy. We would also stand a much better chance of earning some scraps from people who actually have scraps. No offence to the goatfolk, to be sure. They live a simple and apparently fulfilling life, but I'm not sure they are well positioned to help us in our quest."

"I hear there is a human settlement to the south. With our unique talents and good looks, I'm sure we can find work and make connections. Well, that's my say. What do you all think?"

Hunter gathering was done by humans and other animals by hand for 100,000s of years, clams, mussels and other molests don't run away. Its all down to what to be found. In other words she is not just hunting fish :) .

"I hope so, MerFolk ware just about tolerated when I was young now I'm over 10,000 years old things may have changed"

She jokes, purifying the food they had then eating some raw clam.

Goggh tried to hunt something to help. He wasn't the most talented in it, but he would try, regardless.

At that day, the ogre was sitting near his friends around the fire. He heard his friend Zamik and answered.

I don't know. - he shows his big hands, then continues - ... As much as Goggh could help and work, puny humans distrust us.

He grunts, getting closer to the fire.

Goggh misses Goodwin. Most humans aren't like him. But Goggh agrees, staying here won't do us much good, neither Goodwin. Irori shall guide us.

Goggh was used to the monastery life, solitude and peace. The idea of civilization wasn't something he was comfortable with, but he was definitely willing to try. As the water, he must embrace change and adapt.

Like the others Snow would with the aid of Aurora seek out some food for the day, feeding Aurora had always been a simple matter back home but now it was a touch more difficult, thankfully they made an excellent hunting duo.

"We do not know what the Humans are like now, it has been so long since any of us have been in this world they could be completely different from what we knew. I did not personally even know any humans until Father took me in. We do not even know what most of our own people might be like any more for that matter." Snow suggested hoping to alleviate some of Goggh's worries.

"I do not have much of a preference for where we end up so long as we think it is out best bet for finding Father. Do we think that the Human settlement would be the best?" Snow said with a nod.

Quercus had been standing in the sun for a bit, with his feet in the river. "Ahh, I think I am nourished. I still need sunlight daily, but I can also break down food such as you people can. My increased activity almost requires I have an additional source."

"Well we need to rest tonight, If luck is with us then all shall be well."

She takes out her deck and spreads them in front of herself. Then places her hand over them as it move say says the name of each of you and herself, taking a card every time she dos.

She puts the cards away.

Vamik listens to the harrowing politely, not really seeing the benefit of it, then pipes up, "Well is seems we have 4 options. First, we could stay here and make a new life for ourselves right here on the bank of this river. Obviously that if futile. Although, the fact that we were deposited right here may be significant, though the nature of that significance is hidden from me. Second option, we could go live with the goatfolk and become nomadic hunters and gatherers. Again, this will not further our goal of finding Goodwin. Third, we could wander the wilderness hoping for luck to guide us right into the pit where he is being held. And though we have Lady Ollron with us, and no doubt her divinations can be useful, it seems a poor choice to me. Fourth, we can seek out civilization. We can learn what there is to know about this world. Who are the major powers? What are the current wars? We could seek out great seers and entreat them to peer into the heart of the earth and beyond to find our beloved master. It will be long and hard. There will be danger and hunger and loss. But if we persevere, the prize is worth it. That is the path which I choose. And it begins by exploring the settlement of our neighbors to the south."

"As for them not accepting us, I have two points. First, surely they have heard about us by now. A grand entrance like ours cannot go unnoticed for long. Therefore, they will, in all likelihood, already be either friend or foe. If they be foe, we can always retreat and seek out new allies. If they accept us as friends, we could gain much by visiting them."

As his friend Vamik, Goggh doesn't particularly care much for the card reading, but smiles politely.

Goggh thinks it's a fair point and a good plan. We have to risk.

The paladin stands up proudly in his immense height, pointing to the settlement.

If no one disagrees, I say we go after our rest. - he bumps his fist against the chest - This is the path Goggh, Paladin of Irori, will follow.

He ends up smiling charismatically.

Goggh will take first watch for our sleep. Rest, friends.

The evening will be a tad chilly, how do you plan to create a camp? Will you set watches or do any special preparations?

Snow frowns a bit at her card and shuffles a bit closer to Aurora in an effort to hide herself "I am not very good at setting up camp but if someone helps me I can try, or maybe I could start preparing the food so we have something nice to eat before we get some rest?" Snow finally suggests after Vamik and the others speak up.

"I think I mostly agree with Vamik's idea, hopefully they will be friendly with us. The goat people were nice enough once they understood what was going on so maybe it will be a bit like that, we will just have to explain the situation to them."

Quercus' goodberries were enough to feed you all for the entire day, but if you want to eat more go ahead.

Actually Goggh might be a little hungry yet since he is large.

Day 3 - Morning
The night has gone uneventfully. The nearby river rushing through the night kept you awake for a while but eventually the constant white noise of it lulled you to sleep. You awaken cold, stiff and a bit hungry. Your camp was very makeshift and you had little shelter, but you had a warm fire.

The day begins. You know you are in the lands of the goatlings. The rugged hills surround you, and you know downriver leads to the lands of the dwarves and their allies. From your vantage you can see quite far into the valleys and canyons beyond and below, but at this early hour you do not make out any activity or habitations yet.

Finding it difficult to get a particularly 'good' sleep through the night due to a combination of the not particularly comfortable conditions and the ever present feeling of loss over Goodwin's disappearance Snow finds herself awake rather early and knowing it is likely that the others will begin waking soon enough she decides it best to simply stay awake and get ready for the day ahead.

With the fair abundance of food they acquired for day before Snow decides to prepare a meal for the group to awake to, gathering up anything near the camp site that she can find to add a bit of extra flavor to the meal she quickly scurries back and begins her work hoping that a nice fresh cooked meal will do a lot to raise everyone's spirits and start the day off strong.
