To be honest I don't get the "riddle" either - it's not really a riddle, it's a two part yes or no question as Kixzik said. It's not like he's asking "What am I talking about?"

Unnamed

come up with a stupid response. look at what it says exactly and reply. Thats all i got unless someone makes the CHA check for another clue. If you can't figure it out then we just have to move on and miss this part of the AP, not a tragedy

How sturdy are the doors? :D

Unnamed

Very study, reinforced with magic 6 inches thick of brass. Detect magic and spell craft shows there are many schools of magic on them.

Drat.

Unnamed

but i fully support you pounding on it until it opens or the traps are dispelled

Hopefully Seif (or maybe Arthur) can make sense of the puzzle.

Unnamed

thats the problem. if you look at it as a puzzle you will never solve it. read what it said to you out loud, and see what it is TELLING you to do

Is there a handle of some kind on the door?

Unnamed

there are not

"What if we just try pushing on the door?"

Unnamed

DO IT!

Zephyr shrugs and does it.

Unnamed

The faces on the side of the mausoleum, the ones that spoke to some of you earlier open their mouths and sigh, the door does not open.

everyone who did not meditate on death make me a will save of 22, if you fail that make me a fort save of 22

HP 300, AC 55, FF 49, T 22, CMD 60 (80 vs. Grapple or dirty trick)F +25, R +32, W +24, Percep +29, Init +14

"Churley is truthfully confused. "

not sure if I need the will save or not but sure

will save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

fort save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

Unnamed

yes you do, you followed Kix and didnt stop and meditate on your own mortality, though to be fair, if you think Churley would have stopped to do that, that is fine, but choose now

HP 300, AC 55, FF 49, T 22, CMD 60 (80 vs. Grapple or dirty trick)F +25, R +32, W +24, Percep +29, Init +14

Churley is a little shallow for that. hence I suspect he is now dead from a phantasmal killer because the dice gods hate me.

Fortitude: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Yeah, you don't get to b*@++ with that roll. Although +2 Fortitude vs. Poison?

Unnamed

awww man

Churley and Kixzik both drop dead on the spot.

Phantasmal killers

The door creaks open

(AC 25/16/20; HP 86/86; Fort +6, Ref +10, Will +7; Init +7, Perception +0, CMD 12) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 9

That was some horrific rolling :-/

Seif-al-Din is momentarily rendered speechless by the sudden deaths of Churley and Kixzik, but quickly recovers.

"I dare to face and use the truth. Thus, my answer is 'Truthfully'."

It's basically the 'Mines of Moria' door riddle, right? ;-)

No, you just had to open the door and have the buffs.

Zephyr gasps in horror as two of her companions are instantly slain. "Goddess protect us..."

The door's open now.

Unnamed

Seif nailed it for the record

Well, that would have been an awesome answer then if he'd posted 36 hours earlier.

Does anyone have a bag of holding? I don’t foresee Zephyr lugging a body around.

Unnamed

Beatrice does ironically. Don't ask what it is usually for...

Beatrice wanders over and tosses the bodies in her bag o fholdibg

HP 300, AC 55, FF 49, T 22, CMD 60 (80 vs. Grapple or dirty trick)F +25, R +32, W +24, Percep +29, Init +14

I will be sorely disappointed at all the Weekend at Bernies moments you will miss with Churley stuffed in a bag.

Zephyr sniffs and shakes her head. "Thank you Beatrice. We must press on."

(AC 25/16/20; HP 86/86; Fort +6, Ref +10, Will +7; Init +7, Perception +0, CMD 12) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 9

@Kixzik: Sorry - I am based in Australia, so my peak posting time is nearly 20 hours out of whack with USA times :-/

Seif-al-Din gingerly heads inside...

Unnamed

The interior of the mausoleum dazzles the eye, almost overwhelming
in its intricacy. The floor and ceiling are of polished golden marble
tiles, each white-veined tile set off with a framing inlay of lapis
lazuli. The cornices and joints of wall, ceiling, and floor inlaid with
burnished brass glow in the light of heatless crystal lamps that
hang from empty air. Within these brazen borders, each wall holds
an enormous mosaic of enchanted tile that moves and flows like
a living thing, replaying the triumphs and tragedies of Nex in an
endless refrain.
In the center of the vast, silent chamber sits a bier of plain white
limestone, simply carved, its lid unadorned but for a single rune. At
the bier’s head is a large marble pedestal on which stands a curious
statue of a man toppled over. The statue’s head is carved of gold, its
chest and arms of silver, its belly of bronze, its thighs of iron, and its
shattered feet of clay. At the bier’s foot is a smaller platform upon
which rests an equally strange trophy: a large reptilian skull as large
as a grown man, crested and glinting golden in the lamplight.

The cat sits on top of the sarcophagus cleaning itself nonchalantly

(AC 25/16/20; HP 86/86; Fort +6, Ref +10, Will +7; Init +7, Perception +0, CMD 12) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 9

Seif-al-Din looks around obviously impressed, before respectfully addressing the cat:

"Alright, what, or whom, were you wanting to show us?"

Zephyr nods. "And who are you? Why are you helping us?"

Unnamed

The gigantic Skull beigins to speak

“I have waited for Nex to come to rest here for more centuries
than I care to count, yet this is no concern to me. I shall
continue to wait. Yet not all who have come before me have
shown the same respect as you. Certainly, the one whose spirit
suffuses this place respected it—he was known as Andrathi
in his day, and he came to this tomb pursued by the warlord
Jhavhul. For many days, Andrathi hid here and we shared
many conversations, but in the end, Jhavhul found him. It is
to Andrathi’s credit that he did not drag the fight in here, that
he confronted Jhavhul on the steps outside. It is there that he
died, and in his rage to be gone from this place, Jhavhul did not
linger, and thus I survive to continue my duties. And Andrathi
lingers here as well—he is but a memory and a shade, though,
his soul having long passed on from here. Yet enough lingers to
advise me, and what lingers is curious—as am I. How is it you
have come to be in Kakishon?”

(AC 25/16/20; HP 86/86; Fort +6, Ref +10, Will +7; Init +7, Perception +0, CMD 12) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 9

Seif-al-Din looks to the others, and shrugs.

"Well, we were investigating a scroll, when the scholar who was looking at it accidentally activated it - we were sucked in here, and a whole heap of over creatures escaped. Now, we are marooned here, but would very much like to get out again."

Zephyr sniffs again and wipes away the last of her tears.

"My companion speaks the truth. We're also trying to keep this place from breaking apart."

Unnamed

I see. How will you do that? Whom have you allied yourselves with?

(AC 25/16/20; HP 86/86; Fort +6, Ref +10, Will +7; Init +7, Perception +0, CMD 12) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 9

"No-one at present. We have, however, had two groups try to recruit us."

Unnamed

Oberhk, and jahvul I assume

(AC 25/16/20; HP 86/86; Fort +6, Ref +10, Will +7; Init +7, Perception +0, CMD 12) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 9

Seif-al-Din turns to the others, and shrugs.

"Probably?"

"Should we not trust them?" Zephyr asks. "It's difficult to tell who has this place's best interests in mind."

Unnamed

you have met neither of them. Oberkh is the leader of the Shaitan and Jahvul is the monstrous fire djinn that escaped when you got in

(AC 25/16/20; HP 86/86; Fort +6, Ref +10, Will +7; Init +7, Perception +0, CMD 12) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 9

"One was a bunch of strange elves that we met in this weird place we encountered after falling off the edge of this place. The other was a lady at the Pleasure Palace, and she had elf servants."

Unnamed

I see you met with the Proteans, and a former servant of Jahvul, who it would seem is a bit disgrunteld. Do you seek to stop Jahvul? or support him?

Can we get a recap of the plot? Why is the plane coming apart and what is it that we were told we had to do to stop it? What part do these factions play in the demiplane's collapse?

(AC 25/16/20; HP 86/86; Fort +6, Ref +10, Will +7; Init +7, Perception +0, CMD 12) Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed) 9

Seif-al-Din frowns.

"From what we have seen, he was/is not a particularly pleasant sort of chap... I would not say he was our immediate priority (after all, we want to fix this place, and escape), but if we had to pick sides, I suppose we would oppose him."

Churley wonder why big skull sad. Big skull want fizzy drink?

Unnamed

sadly most of those questions have not been asked. The plane is coming apart, why you don't exactly know but your entrance into it has something to do with it. You do not know what you have to do to stop it from coming apart, you are trying to find out now. What roles the factions play you don't know. No one asked either of the two you met what their opinion of the other factions are. You can assume that if you commit to one of them they will share more. The woman on the brass aisle seems to be neutralism at the moment. How they all feel about Jahvul you do not know. You just now learned that the elves are actually proteans

Unnamed

Well from what the spirit here has told me it would seem Jahvul seeks to escape and awaken Rovagug. Not a particularly pleasant thought. So opposing him is a delightful idea!

Let's let that sink in!
