Round 1

Leaving her sobbing victim, the Beatific One waves one hand and a twisting pattern of subtle, shifting colors weaves through the air.

Please make a DC 16 Will save, everybody.

You act in the order Ashe, Dex Camulus, Jord Sturmsson, Edmund Gwenn, then Ebon Wings last... but apart from a bit of movement you haven't told me what you want to do! So actions and die rolls please - remember you don't have to post in order, I'll sort that out in a summary post.

PS Good use of Majenko to pass information, good thinking Master Gwenn!

Demoralize Intimidate check: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (18) + 23 = 41

Demoralise:

Demoralize Opponent

You can use this skill to cause an opponent to become shaken for a number of rounds. This shaken condition doesn’t stack with other shaken conditions to make an affected creature frightened. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier.

Success: If you are successful, the target is shaken for one round. This duration increases by 1 round for every 5 by which you beat the DC. You can only threaten an opponent this way if it is within 30 feet and can clearly see and hear you. Using demoralize on the same creature only extends the duration; it does not create a stronger fear condition.

Fail: The opponent is not shaken.

No flanking would also cut your precision damage dice and sneak attack damage dice. There is also another issue... she is clearly not a dretch or lemure... some kind of low-level evil outsider... so she probably has DR of some sort. I'm hoping "Good" from my oil of bless weapon is enough to breach it. Does Jord have any alignment damage types on his weapon? I do have another oil.

It's difficult to flank someone who's got heads facing in all directions :)

OK, then...

Ashe bolts across the room so quickly he almost blurs, and gets between the Beatific One and her victim... who is Neolandus Kalepopolis! Noting he looks more scared than hurt, he strikes at the Beatific One with Dauntless Heart, catching her a solid blow on one arm. (By the way Ashe, fire is one of the few things she isn't resistant to, so do keep listing the damage, please!)

Dex is next, I'll give him until tomorrow then move on with the rest of the round regardless regardless :)

An excellent blow, Dex! It quite staggers the Beatific One... straight into Jord's sword which also does her damage.

Round 3

Again the Beatific One attacks, this time both strikes are at Dex.

Spear: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 17 - 2 = 20, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Kukri: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 17 - 2 = 26, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Then Ashe lets rip with a barrage of sword strikes, the weapon almost blurring in his hands. Bits of the Beatific One go flying amid showers of blood...

Dex continues to pummel any bit of her he can reach, and Jord also swings his sword. She sags under the onslaught and falls to the ground... just as a small extradimensial hole opens up beneath her courtesy of Edmund. She makes no effort to retain her footing... and hits the ground, stone cold dead!

End of combat

Ashe kicks her weapons out of her grasp, just to make sure she will have none available to her on her way to oblivion!

Turning to his companions, "Secure the room I'll see to the Seneschal. Loot anything magical!"

Ashe steps over the VERY dead Asura, comming to Neolandis side, "Seneschal, Kalepopolis, it is I Asherick Whiteplume, Paladin of IOMEDAE, of House Endrin... you are safe now. Here... let me provide you with some healing...!"

Ashe will pull his Wand of Cure Serious Wound and expend a charge or two to fully heal the Seneschal.

Cure Serious Wounds 2#: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (6, 7, 4) + 5 = 22 {1ch}

Ashe also pulls out his wineskin to feed Neolandis some water to refresh his voice...

The Beatific One is well and truly dead... and shows every sign of remaining so.

Neolandus blinks up at you all. He seems to recognise Ashe, and gets quite excited. "You're just who I was hoping to find... someone, people, who can help rid the city of the blight upon it!" He's a bit battered, filthy and clothed in rags, but doesn't need major healing - a single charge from Ashe's wand ought to do the trick.

There's not much in the way of loot here unless anyone is interested in torture equipment. As for the Beatific One, she had a spear, a kukri and a temple sword.

This last is a Vudrani weapon, typically used by holy men and guardians of religious sites, temple swords have distinctive crescent-shaped blades, appearing as an amalgam of a sickle and sword. Many temple swords have holes drilled into the blade or places on the pommel where charms, bells, or other holy trinkets might be attached. You can use a temple sword to make trip attacks. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the temple sword to avoid being tripped. It does 1d8 damage, criticals on 19-20 (x2), and costs 18gp.

Nevertheless, once his immediate injuries have been tended, Edmund shows Neolandus the portrait of his son.

Ashe assures Neolandus, "We are aware there is an evil artifact of ZON-KUTHON's faith likely influencing Queen Ileosa... but things are more dire now.. we can explain once we've gotten you to safety with Field Marshal Kroft. But there is still a clear threat here that needs resolution... the Rakshasa of House Arkona!"

Ashe gestures to Vencarlo to watch over and protect Neolandus.. while he turns toward the prisoner cages and begins to look for any other prisoners. Ashe will detect evil & magic upon any other prisoners before releasing them from the cages just in case a Rakshasa is trying to posse as one of them!

If there are any other prisoners Ashe will address them and tell them to follow Vencarlo's orders he will keep them safe but they must stay out of the Justicar's way for there are still VERY dangerous threats to be dealt with in the dungeon!

Then Ashe moves toward the Westside door inside the torture chamber...

"...Jord to me we still have rooms to check... Vimanda may still be secreted here somewhere!"

It might be impetuous but Ashe will briefly detect evil & magic on or through the door before opening it to search in interior.

Neolandus and Vencarlo are delighted to be reunited. There are no other prisoners, and Neolandus does not recognise the picture Edmund is showing around.

Detecting neither evil nor magic, Ashe opens the door revealing a small room. A narrow bed, stool, and table are this room's sole furnishings - none appear to have been used in some time.

Ashe's heart sinks. He turns away from the small room glancing Edmund's way... but he can't meet his eyes. He'd really hoped to find his son here... and he hates giving good people bad news...

Walking past Jord he mutters, 'Your eyes are keener than mine could you please search the small room for anything of value or clue as to where any of the other Arkona may be or their prisoners?'

Ashe heads to the double doors and detects for evil and magic beyond them... but waits until everyone gathers before opening them.. to face what whatever is beyond them...

Commenting to Vencarlo, "Keep Neolandus out here while we deal with this last ...chamber..."

The doors are neither magical nor trapped. Beyond them, a vast cavern stretches into the shadows, the true extent of its area difficult to discern due to a thick maze of wooden timbers that rises up to support the roof. A ledge winds along the eastern and northern sides of the cave, with the floor dropping away to a depth of thirty feet. Four immense stone pillars support the ceiling ten feet above. Where these pillars connect to the ceiling, a network of wooden braces and timbers radiate out in a wheel shape, forming four forty-foot-wide discs flush against the roof. Dozens of chains hang down from these beams to attach to the pillars themselves, many of which are decorated with rows and rows of bells. The lowest 10 feet of the area are left quite open to give the chamber's denizens plenty of room to toil. Above the 10-foot-mark, though, a creature can move through this room on these tangled wooden beams with a DC 10 Climb check.

Ashe ponders the vast chamber of temberwork and frowns... not what he'd expected to find! He pans his detect evil-60'ft cone, into the vast room while moving toward the ledge to look down{?} into the vast room.

He fears that the Arkona have does exactly what he fear and fled... likely to not be found again... in a city being overrun with evil.

Perception: Take 10! 10 + 7 = 17

It may simply be more prudent for the JUSTICARS to loot what they can from the valuables upstairs so the vast Arkona wealth can n longer easily be used for evil purposes and flee this accursed lair of evil with Neolandus and Vencarlo.. their real goal achieved!

As you attempt to figure out what is going on here, you notice that each of the pillars has a terrible attendant... some kind of giant undead elephant, they look like. Each is chained to one of the pillars, where they stand motionless and silent.
