If you wish to fight the three advancing towards you, please roll initiatives and state your intended actions... It will take them a round to get to you and it appears that they have only got melee weapons.

Sorin gets ready to shoot an arrow at one of the advancing men, but he sucks in a lungful of fumes when he goes to steady his shot. The caustic vapor burns his lungs and coughing violently he bends over trying to expel the foul substance.

Creature #1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Creature #2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Creature #3: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

They do not seem bothered by the fumes, or maybe it's the cloths they have wrapped around their faces.

The effects of fume inhalation will last one round.

But... you have to check every round you are exposed to them. So if you go outside you will recover by the end of the round.

The mongrelman leads you back into the room from which he came. This chamber occupies a whole side of the building, from the cellar level below up to the roof high above. Seven iron vats, each ten feet across, occupy the majority of the room. Furnaces fuel the vats at cellar level, while at the ground floor level a series of planks have been laid across the vats to allow passage to a ladder that leads to an iron walkway on the level above. Two ladders also allow access from the planks to the floor below. The air in the chamber is cloying and acidic.

He scampers across the walkways with the ease of long practice, despite the planks between the vats being only ten inches wide. He seems to expect you to follow.

If you do, a DC 10 Acrobatics check, please.

Sure. We've been investigating whether the Beast is really responsible for various crimes in the area around Lepidstadt. One of the leads we found was about a couple guys named Vorkstag and Grine. They apparently brought potions and body parts to an institution that was caring for the mad and deformed. That institution subsequently burned down and the Beast was blamed. We learned that Vorkstag and Grine run the Chymic Works and came to speak with them. Ultimately, we decided to sneak inside. We scared off a flesh golem dog thing that was guarding the place and upon entering found terrible fumes and some strange masked people. We came outside to clear the fumes and found you. Then, we went back inside, negotiated with the men for some masks and now we're following him across these catwalks. I think that's roughly right.

Sorin stumbles back out of the acrid smoke, coughing and wheezing. He looks up to see a couple of newcomers standing by...newcomers who don't look like they come from the Chymic Works themselves. "Um. Hello. Who are you?"

Dillan coughs as they exit the facility, bent at the waist, with his hands resting on his knees. He manages to get out "That...is...truly...repulsive..." between coughs before noticing the new faces outside. "I wouldn't recommend entering that place."

A young girl, barely of age is walking the streets. She shies away as the group comes out coughing and wheezing like victims of a horrific plague. When one speaks to her, she lifts her hand covering her mouth and nose with her robe. Her outfit if a sheet of silken cloth that glimmers like gold elaborately cut hugging her curves and showing just enough of her Varisian skin to entice any red blooded man. Around her waist is a belt wrapped tightly around the girls hips holding a number of bobbled that betray her as a fortune teller.
