Where might the Rome thread be?

Here's a link to the Rome thread, Akio.... Post your PC character sheet in Recruitment thread for inspection, please....

Just click on the link, sir....

Hey mj i will have my guy posted by Friday also I will plan on being on the Rome team.

Sounds good, buddy!

Hey MJ would it be possible for me to join either of these campaigns? The setting and the quest is really cool.

Sure, That Other Guy.... The Rome team is smaller but obviously less active, while this one is a pretty big group already, but far more active, so whichever appeals to you more....

What are you thinking of playing?

I am going through a lot of possibilities. I'm going to have to do some historical research and eventually I'll let you know. I don't want to 'rush in' to either of the parties at an inorganic time, so we can wait for a little bit, and as I figure out what fits best for both of us and everyone I'll run it all by you. I'll definitely be within the CC boundaries you posted previously.

At the moment I'm tinkering with the ideas of either a misplaced druid, a french executioner who found the call of God, or an italian cleric who is secretly a cabalist, but there are a lot of really juicy things this setting has to offer and I don't want to jump the gun.

I assume that the non-human races fit in due to mostly their original tropes in human superstition. Does this mean that those humanoids originate from mostly their real world myth's origin point as well?

I will be playing a European, but again I have a bit of research to do before I enter.

Again, thank you for existing and making this campaign. Would it be alright with you if someday I stole this idea and used as a springboard it at my RL playtable?

Thanks again

Okay, so I'm settling in on being an Oracle in the vein of a Nostradamus-ey figure.

The basic concept for the character was that he was the seventh son of the seventh son in his lineage, and showed great promise in being a healer, and was groomed for clerical/mystic work in his villa from a young age.

When he was young he began to speak in strange languages, and began to have massive visions in his sleep.

His first visions were of the Black Death before. (IDK if this next part of the backstory would step on your toes/be undesirable, so let me know.)--> He then had a vision of a great red dragon attacking the Vatican/Mounting Vesuvius, and then visions of Constantinople burning. His 'vestige of power' began clearly as signs from the Lord, healing people and having certain clairvoyance from a young age.

But as he aged, his visions began to become more dire; haunting, violent, and full of terror. And with his visions his supernatural tendencies also began to twist in the same manner, and he was driven out of his village, (from wherever) after trying to be burned at the stake and not dying (Apocalypse Revelation: Defy Elements: Fire Resistance 5) condemned as a hand of Satan.

He knows he must face the dragon from his visions, but trembles at the thought. He also claims he has 'seen it firsthand' although he never has. (could be inserted into the party b/c he was searching for those to rally against Conflagratius).

So that's the character concept, IDK how melee oriented he will be, but I was focusing his casting on debuff/cc/healing.

I was wondering if I could take the Ancient Loremaster racial archetype without being an elf?

As you correctly guessed, nonhuman races come from their folkloric place of origin, and are more or less accepted in human society.

You may steal this setting for your RL tabletop games as much as you like, with my blessing! Imitation is the highest form of compliment! :)

Ancient loremaster for human is fine.

Sweet. Thank you, for all of the things.

How many campaigns have you done with this setting? I'm curious about all of the deep history buffisms and how they can make insane role-plays and concepts.

I'm exploring the Duchy of Gascony right now, expanding the story, analyzing the psyche profile of this kid, anddd the character sheet is almost finished. I'll post it as it comes.

Do you use a translator app or are you a polyglot?

And, I would prefer to play in Team Paris, for several reasons.

Thanks again.

"C'est moi, monsieur. All the details should be in order on my profile, let me know if I must change anything. Adieu."

How do I add basic stats to my name? Thank you

I think you're fine. Try posting in Discussion to check. I don't think that line shows up in Recruitment threads.

I am the polyglot, though Google translate can do decent (if not exceptional) work. I use it for my latin.

Ah. I see. Thanks!

Welcome, Jean Lamarre

In your Profile -- add the stuff you want to Race, Class Levels & Gender and it will appear next to your Avatar.

For me I leave Gender blank, have Race & Class & HP in Race and put my Stats under Class

Welcome to Team Paris, Monsieur Lammare! Well done on your back story!

Thanks all. Happy to join the team.

Hey MJ, I was wondering if I could change up my Improved Initiative feat for Weapon Focus? I want to pick up Dazzling Display in the nearer future....

Sure, Jean....

thankssssssssss

Hey Mikey, this is Koran from Post-Apocthulu. I would love to join this game if/when you have an opening. Just let me know.

Welcome, Billybrainpan! What kind of PC do you have in mind? Go ahead and submit a 4th-level PC, 25-point buy, max starting gold plus 6,000 gp in extra equipment, max hp at 1st level, half max plus 1 hp for other 3 levels....

Awesome, I don't know what i'll make yet. What do you guys have?

Alphonse: aasimar ranger
Hisao: human ninja
Paddy: human rogue
Iommi-Tyr: human investigator/alchemist
Nacht: verminous hunter
Kiyu: vishkanya witch

A brief summary, in case you haven't had time to read the whole gameplay thread:

An ancient red dragon calling itself Conflagratius flew to Earth from Mercury to make its new lair in Mt Vesuvius in Italy, and has been extorting tribute in gold and maidens from all the rulers of the lands of Europe for the past year and a half....

The Lusty Fools (the PCs) have entered the catacombs below Notre Dame cathedral in Paris to slay a necromancer, formerly a priest at Notre Dame, who cursed the gargoyles that have long protected the cathedral, turning them against the clerics and parishioners, and inviting gremlins to infest the belfry and play deadly pranks on the priests and parishioners.... The Lusty Fools have succeeded in killing the necromancer and several other cultists, members of a Satanic international conspiracy.... They also destroyed the necromancer's undead minions, freed a graveknight named Sir Grimulf from bondage, and rescued the true King of France, Charles VII, who was abducted and replaced by a doppelgänger that still sits on the throne, from a secret prison in the catacombs....

The Lusty Fools are currently visiting the legendary alchemist Nicolas Flamel at his home in Paris to sell off unwanted treasure and buy magic items he has for sale, and they have just met and been joined by Kiyu Amunatus, a vishkanya witch from Egypt....

Well, based of classes it looks like you could use a frontliner or divine caster. Do you think either one is needed more?

Whichever sounds more fun to play.... As for healing, at least 3 of the PCs can use a wand of CLW, so not such a big deal....

Just curious, what is the condition of Balkan countries in your world? Is there an Ottoman Empire or the whole Turkish-Army-at-the-gates-of-Vienna thing hadn't happen (yet)?

My version of Medieval Europe stays pretty faithful to real-world history, so yes, there is an Ottoman Empire at odds with Christian Europe, Nightflier....

Dark Archive

So the Balkans countries (Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Walachia, Bosnia etc.) would be under Ottoman aegis, or just about. Your setting would be a great place for a member of the Oder of the Dragon from one of those countries, dedicated to stopping the Turks from invading the Europe. I think I'll follow the game and jump in case there's an opening available :)

See the recent post in gameplay thread about Count Dracula's grandfather leading the Order of the Dragon against Turkish invasion in Wallachia....

And feel free to submit a 4th-level PC idea for consideration....
25-pt buy, max wealth at 1st level plus 6,000 gp in gear, max hp at level 1, half max plus 1 hp at each additional level.

I'm working on an order of the flame gendarme/beast rider.

I'm a bit confused by the beast rider's mount rules. All of the alternate options for mounts at level 4 are medium therefore not viable mounts.

Wow! Really? I'm gonna get right to it.

Serbian Prince Stefan the High was the First Knight of the inner circle of the Order, and he passed away in 1427, if I remember correctly. What is the current year in the game world?

1430, June 4th

Dark Archive

I have in mind a Magus, but I dislike Dex-scimitar builds. Do you have any suggestions?

I suggest you make a PC you could enjoy playing over a long period of time lol....

Dark Archive

Would you allow a Sorcerer with Vampiric bloodline?

Sure

An ancestor of Dracula, perhaps? ;)

Dark Archive

No, nothing so grand :) I realized that my Eastern Europe character concept is getting me nowhere and that the party is in France and near England, so I'll have a language issues in addition to my inability to make Magus work. Perhaps my character can be someone returning from the Holy Land, who contracted some kind of vampiric disease while traveling through Balkans? Also, I planned to take a Tattooed Sorcerer srchetype. Is that OK? If permitted, I'd like to have a wolf-pup familiar, using Fox statistics. Whole "Children of the Night" theme.

I think I'll finish him today, now that I nixed the Magus.

Sounds pretty cool! Post full stats here as soon as you finish the PC.

How much of the gameplay thread have you read?

Dark Archive

Not very much, but I'll read it all today.

Idea and gameplay look awesome! Shame I missed it. Let me know if a slot opens!

You are invited to submit a PC concept, Galoria....

4th level PC
25-pt buy
Max starting gold plus 6,000 gp in gear
Max starting hp, half max hp plus 1 at each additional level
Submit a cool backstory to be considered :)

Okay then!

As I looked over gameplay, I saw quite a bit of German. I imagine the HRE's impact along with many of the other large movers and shakers (Iberia, France & its vassals, etc.) would be good choices in language. How picky are you with language? Are regional dialects separately taken?

I have two concepts story-wise I could develop. Supposing they're still about the same in my head tomorrow, what is needed for the party -socially-? Does it eschew noble gatherings, or is intrigue a core focus? I could only read so much of the gameplay in a short period of time. :)

Also, I know you said no gunslingers, but the Bolt Ace archetype came to mind; it essentially makes you a crossbow-user instead. Would that be permissable if I went with the concept geared towards that?

I looked over the bolt ace and since it requires a use of grit to get the attack vs touch AC, I believe it would make the class significantly less overpowered. I'll give you the go-ahead if you'd like to try one out. (Cue William Tell Overture....)

Mj i will be submitting a Swashbuckler soon

Ok, David.

NB guys, I'm Muslim in real life so let's not get too crazy with the evil Ottomans stuff :)
