Today's Villain |
The Assassin that was in Ulfgard's room, that came too with Haskyll's healing, looks at Anga and speaks, "I am Mordea. Until today, we were the Freedom Town Assassins. You pay us to take care of a problem and we do it. But we were not told that we would be up against Warriors. We were told that the marks were four Dwarves and a Human with no special training."
Ulfgard Strongfist |
Returning dressed in a kilt and a shirt and wearing boots the dwarfen ranger looks at Mordea."Did you hit me wee head, am I hard of hearing, or do I still dream. You little piece of s~%$ call yourself Freedom town assassins? What in Rovaugs fat arse is freedom town? What does he stands for. And who lives and governs it?"
Kaos Axe Hands |
Kurst, when women are in our rooms univited with bared blades, I think it falls under self defence what happened here.
However, survivors you are free to take away, as they are right here.Shaking his head at the oversized human. Aye Torag and I can be doing something about that.

Kaos, did you account for the channel as well?
Yes and thank you
Kaos will go back to his room and dress him self.Today's Villain |
Mordea will look at Ulfgard, "You have not heard of Freedom Town? Hmm. It is a town on the border between Belkzen and Lastwall. There are 400 or so of us that live in Freedom Town. Governed?" She will pause a moment to think about that question, "The Sharpes gang leaders typically govern the town, if you can call it that."
Below is a link to a Map of the Hold of Belkzen. Trunau is near the bottom. Freedom Town is up and to the right a bit. Kurst would be able to show you a map like this up at the Longhouse.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
Haskyll looks over at Mordea.
Where you paid to kill someone else in this inn, last night?
Haskyll Stonereaver |
sense motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
I believe you, but you must tell us now who hired you now, if you don't well
He leaves the last part of the statement blank to let them think over it.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
Kurst do you know anyone that fits that description?
I also think that there is more to this than your brothers murder.
First Wolves in the street, and now assassins in the night.
All to attempt to stop us from looking into your brothers murder.
Kurst Grath |
Kurst will turn to Haskyll, "That was a very specific description. I have not seen a Half-Orc in Trunau that fits that description. But I agree someone has gotten wind of your investigation and is trying to stop it.
Kurst will then look at Mordea, "I don't take kindly to your type in our town. I know that the Freedom Town folk think differently. They see your caste as just one of many. But we frown on paid Assassins here. I will take the survivors of your group before the council. I will let them know that you have cooperated with questioning. But for now, remove your weapons, armor and possessions. You can keep your undergarments for now. You will be searched more thoroughly at the Longhouse. "
Kurst will look at the party, "To the Victor, goes the spoils." He gives the party their possessions. "Can you all help me with taking these Assassins to the lock up at the Longhouse?"
He will then look at Cham, "These five just took out a like number of Assassins that had managed to enter the Ramblehouse. Are you sure you want to lose the protection they can provide your establishment? "
You will get five potions, five antitoxins, five liquid blades, five small vials containing Small centipede poison (5 doses), a smokestick; five suits of leather armor, five light crossbows with 50 bolts, five short swords, five sets of thieves’ tools, five beryls worth 50 gp each, 20 gp, 45 sp, 60 cp.
Ulfgard Strongfist |
Looking at the liquid blade Ulfgard wonders what those are."I have a feeling there is a rat in the half-orc house. But alas what do we know how to find it. Those stick together. Well I say first we check the troll, and then maybe we have to pay freedom-town a visit! Hrumpf... I am worth a fortune in beryls. Actually why beryls, where is a beryl mine here?"
GM Mazra |
Anga does not find anything Magic amongst the Assassins gear.
Do you agree to give Cham 8 GP? Do you escort the Assassins to the Longhouse? And then where do you go?
@Ulfgard - The AP shows the Assassins each having a Beryl. So I ran with the thought that Thieves and Assassins like being paid in gems. You can carry around a huge amount of wealth with not a lot of weight. So a customer paying in Gems would be attractive to an Assassins guild.
Anga Runedaughter |
Let's take these...ladies for the start of their fun holiday...my mistake, their time in prison and then visit the troll. But Ah must say, I have use many of my spells, I only have one left. And me cantrips.
no problem paying the halfling
Kurst Grath |
Day Four
First the body of the dead Assassin is given to other Town Guardsmen when you near the Longhouse. The body will be thrown over the wall to be devoured by the wild. Honored dead are cremated at the 'Flame of the Fallen' funeral pyre. This Assassin is truly not honored dead.
After you deliver the remaining half-naked Assassins over to the Longhouse jailer, Kurst invites everyone to breakfast. The cook was just starting breakfast when you first arrive. Mounds of scrambled eggs, sizzling bacon, a gruel made from dried ground corn with loads of whipped butter melted on top (grits), and various fresh sliced fruits and vegetables are served. You have a choice of the brewed Black Wine (coffee), the Local Stout, or fresh water from the Hopespring.
During breakfast Kurst suggest resting during the day, and tackle the Plaguehouse tonight.
This could be an advantage for the Dwarves.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
No issues with giving Cham 8 GP.
Question, seeing as it was a night fight, near the morning, did our spells used come out of day 3 or day 4 ?
Kurst, that seems to be the best approach that I can think of.
Anyone mind if I take one of these crossbow's, and some ammo?
Haskyll Stonereaver |
before breakfast
Haskyll, looks at the others,
I will need a few minutes before we can take these ladies to cells.
After praying and preparing his spells for the day, Haskyll takes the time to sort the cash out evenly for everyone, along with gathering everything into one location.
A share of the spoils everyone
He then passes each a small bag of 2 Gold, 9 Silver, 12 Copper and 1 Gem.
Until we get to a place that can sell the rest, I didn't divide it.
I also took the 8 gp off our total before dividing it, Leaving us 2 gp not divided.
Ragnir Brightaxe |
"If'n we're goin' ta the Plaguehouse later, an' people want te visit markets n'such, we should be keepin' in pairs at the least. Someone's gunnin' fer us. No sense makin' it easier on em."
Ulfgard Strongfist |
Ulfgard tries to find out what those potions are.
Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Haskyll Stonereaver |
After breakfast, Haskyll attempts to identify any potions that haven't been identified yet.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Kaos Axe Hands |
How do these swords work? Also if it's alright I will take one of the crossbows and some bolts as well . Kaos will eat his fill ,taking time to wonder how even though he is so much bigger then the dwarfs but they can still eat almost as much as him. Then take up one of the liquid swords and try to figure out how to work it.
Figuring Check: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Haskyll Stonereaver |
Ragnir, you are right, no making it easier, however, I think stopping by the market prior to going might be an idea.
There might be a thing or two that might come in handy.
Kaos, you unstopper, and flick your wrist and the blade comes out. However, the blade is breakable.
GM Mazra |
Omast Frum is found this morning working on the South Tower of Trunau's inner wall. I will mark it as 18 on the Trunau Town Map. He is futilely trying to wash off the strange White Sword markings painted on the Tower. He has drawn a crowd. He is swinging wildly on ropes supported from above. He is also babbling loudly. What he is saying is incoherent. He appears drunk.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
Well, I can see this ending badly
Indicating Omast.
I agree, a CLW for everyone in the party, I am also thinking everyone should get some of those alchemical items as well.
Ulfgard Strongfist |
Looking around for a horse bucket or any other barrel the dwarf grabs the drunken and gives him a short dose of ice-cold water.
"Do you have time now? Or shall I explain the higher art of dwarven diplomacy to you again?"
Haskyll Stonereaver |
Haskyll looks around for any hay wagons, or things that look soft.
percept: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
thinking of moving it under the tower so if he falls, it is into something softer than the ground
GM Mazra |
What are the odds that there just happens to be a hay wagon near the Tower. There is not really any hay fields nearby, but some are shipped in for horse and other livestock. So I would say 15% of one nearby???
85 or higher there is a hay wagon, 75 to 84 a manure wagon, 70 to 74 something else suitable: 1d100 ⇒ 51
Haskyll doesn't see anything suitable for Omast to fall in to.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
Cursing slightly to himself Haskyll looks over at the tall human.
Can you climb up there, and prevent him from killing himself ? While we three get ready to catch him.
GM Mazra |
Omast continues to swab a mop futilely at the markings on the Tower. Then he suddenly stops, "I need a drink!" He releases the rope and comes down a little faster than he intended. Fortunately, Kaos and Ulfgard are there to help break his fall.
The Sergeant of the Town Guard falls to the ground. He gets up and falls again. "Where is that bottle of wine?" As he works to stand again.
Here is an image of Omast Frum.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
How about we answer that at the tavern over an ale, you coming ?
