Victor Jankowski, Private Eye |
I guess I'm punching, lethal damage, a robot? Can I ignore the metal man and nonlethal backhand the woman?
Melee Slam: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage?: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Lady! You're not tossing anyone out unless it happens to be yourself!
Arael Stardust |
Arael's head snaps to the side. When she looks back her lower lip is bleeding. Ah, a figh-sty one. She clears the blood with the back of her hand and licks it off. Robot! Throw this one out the air lock too. I have no time for insolent man-flesh!
The Robot tries to pick Victor up...1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Well, that was easy. Unless you and the girls can prevent it, Robot boy will carry you off toward the airlock:)

"Right then..."
Aid another on halfling tossing: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Inspiration: 8 + 1d6 ⇒ 8 + (4) = 12
And her things...: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Pretty sure I only need to deal with a DC of 5 there?
And really, as getting across seems the thing to do in general...
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
... assuming nobody getting across has a rope to make this easier yet.
Victor Jankowski, Private Eye |
All I can do is attempt a Combat Maneuver, to break the Grapple, but as I see that this creature has "Double" my bonus, I am doubtful that I will succeed, and this kind of thing is starting to piss me off.
When the robot picks me up, I start pounding double fist, Kirk style, and attempt to break the grapple
Hey, ya big dumb lummox, put me down!
Combat Maneuver to break the grapple: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Vanna Barahal |
Vanna was lifted and tossed in a room, she saw Victor there. Then she blacked out. Next thing she knew she was lying on the floor. Hand to head, she sits up. Then she hears Victor shouting. "What's going on? Oh!" Victor is being hoisted by a metal construct. She stands up and casts shocking grasp.
Celes Sontiri |
Celes also comes to and stands up as flashes of what happened before enter her mind. She can hear talking, but still seems lost to the language being spoke. It isn't until She sees Victor being lifted that she fsnaps back into battle mode, and begins a new incantation.
She is going to cast cause fear on Arael. DC 14 vs Will. Shaken for 1 round of she succeeds. Feared for 1d4 if fails...and immune if on 6 HIT DICE
Professor Quinto Addermire |
Okay since it appears that only the three of us are up there, Elai will attempt to aid throwing Fidgit over.
Safe to assume that'd be ranged attack roll, +2 from inspire courage, +2 from aid another?
Vanna Barahal |
Not sure when the next round begins
Vanna see's Arael book it out of the room. Now's the chance. "Drop him!" Hand charged with electricity she attempts to shock the robot.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
damage: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 1) = 17

Victor
The mechanical monstrosity shutters under Vanna's shocking grasp. Then proceeds to lumber down the corridor, taking Victor into a turbolift at the end of the hall.
grapple check for round 3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
But do Vanna and Celes follow? That is the question.
unless I missed a rule. Does the robot get penalties for trying to grapple while being attacked?
Nixie |
back in the bar
It's been quiet for about 5 minutes. Grey peeks out of the cupboard. The tentacles are gone. He's about to open the door when suddenly he hears footsteps...then through the cracked cupboard door, a knee high boot appears. Attached to the boot is a women's leg. Attached to the leg is a shapely Lashunta women in a space agy 'rainbow bright' outfit. She stands facing the other direction, with her hands on her hips, surveying the destruction.
I can't help but say this classic line...
What do you do?
Professor Quinto Addermire |
This half-in-init order is a bit odd, especially while waiting for people outside of init to do something before proceeding. Any noteworthy features/relevant knowledge inside the airlock by the way?
Celes Sontiri |
I imagine the intent is you all act at will whereas the three of us are acting by round. Or that is how I have been assuming this works.
Celes smirks as Arael runs. She chalks it up to another point to sway Victor her way.
Speaking of Victor! Celes going to move to pick up her bag the Vanna undoubtedly dropped when she fell asleep, Priorities is herself before anyone else after all, though she does make the point to motion to the robot and call out to Vanna.
Albeit, poorly.
Great Mastiff |
Nixie wrote:I'm not trying to be overly dramatic. It's just impossible to give 15 month old twins a bath AND play DnD! I promise to keep up as best I can!Ah yes, I remember it well. Of course, mine's twelve now & was never twins, but I sympathize.
"'ere ma'm, Put yer 'and on me shoulder 'n' I'll walk yer out ta where ever'one is." The small boy offers that least odd of the odd women.
Offering assistance to the seemingly blind woman while preparing to summon something if things go pear-shaped, as he suspects they are about to.
"Ma'm? I don't know about you, but now is about the time I start running & hiding..." the boy whispers as the enormous magical vessel continues to deal mercilessly with the others.
I know I'm going to regret this...
Eyes wide at the sight before him, the boy scurries into the closest niche out of sight. Whereupon he hastily begins a series of incantations & gestures.
Find a place to hide & start casting Summon Eidolon, it has a full-round casting time.
Now I definitely have to finish updating the Eidolon...
Suddenly, an armored, man-sized form bursts from the alley, barreling towards the person-capturing craft!
Yes, this is Grey's Eidolon.
Yes, he's charging blindly at the Lashunta kidnapping craft.
No, he hasn't got the common sense of a stunned fieldmouse, why do you ask?

The crunch of gravel & broken glass echoes through the disarray as an oddly mis-harmonic voice calls out.
][Query: Threat; Y/N?][Vanna Barahal |
Celes grabs her bag and chases after the robot. Seeing that her last attack had some effect, she charges another shock and pursues the robot to see if she can drop it.
Let's just hit it with another shocking grasp. If I can't make it, just move to the lift and cast the spell anyways.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 2) = 13
Elai C'tara |
Elai tosses the halfing across to the other ship (she hopes)
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 16+/- whatever else the GM feels appropriate
Deciding she's spent too long on the edge of the building, she'll then take a few paces back and make a running jump at it herself.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Landing on the other side, she secures the rope and tosses it down to the professor/others and heads into the airlock.
Scientist Lisa |
"Ah, you're here!" Lisa greets Elai warmly. "It appears we must find a way to free the people Arael trapped."
Professor Quinto Addermire |
The professor makes sure everyone is inside, and glances about. "Rather odd place to stow spare uniforms. Do any of you suppose it would do any good to attempt a quick bit of disguise before proceeding further along?"
Victor Jankowski, Private Eye |
when the robot tries to grapple me, I will take an AoO
hey, grabby, keep you paws to yourself
Melee Slam, Lethal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
possible damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
then, while it is carrying me away, for my regular round 3 action I will try to break free from it once again, CM to break the grapple
Let me go ya big walking tin can: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Figit Pattal |
"WOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHH!" Figit went as she flied through the air. She crashed in the hallway and wentumph when her bag hit her. Getting up, she swung her bag on and looked around at the strange looking suits. Focusing on the Professor's question, she responds "It might be hard to disguise me considering I am half everyone's size. Unless I can hide somewhere here..." as she looks for a hiding space.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Nixie |
Okay, so i'm saving my Rainbow Bright Lashunta for later. That's okay.
This half-in-init order is a bit odd, especially while waiting for people outside of init to do something before proceeding.
Sorry for the confusion. Celes is right. Unless I specifically put us in combat rounds, just act at will...the more posts the better:) When the party is split their time scales need not match. Also, unless we are in combat rounds, exploration time is very flexible. Professor Q for instance could right now post a comment he wanted to make while figit was asteroiding into the ship. This is no problem.
Any noteworthy features/relevant knowledge inside the airlock by the way?
You see space suits, space helmets, spacewalking ropes and gear, a panel on the opposite door with one red and one blue light (just like the last one) and also an intercom speaker with a big white button. Lisa sees that it says "Call Bridge" in Lashunta.
flashback As Grey's Eidolon charges the ship Arael Stardust sees him from the platform. See how this flexible timescale works when we are separated? Stardust gives a command and one of her girls makes some motions. Grey is suddenly bathed in a soft blue light. His whole body tingles. Next thing he knows he's standing in another place. Map updated. You can save vs this teleport spell if you want i guess, DC15 Will. He finds himself in a room standing on a glowing blue teleportation circle. On the walls are racks and racks of ray guns, the kind with little satillite dishes on the tips. There is a door here, with a panel: one red button one blue.
Vana shocks the Robot just as the turbolift doors closes. The robot is shaken. He drops Victor. When the turbolift door open you all spill out into a large room. See map. Whew.
Nixie |
Professor Quinto Addermire |
The professor ponders for a moment. "Actually, if I have a little time to prepare, and our lovely pair of Lashunta ladies are willing to part with a small bit of hair, I believe I may be able to do something about that..."
He then sets about mixing the ingredients for to produce extracts of Alter Self and Comprehend Languages for Figit and himself.
Time allowing, he also prepares a third Alter Self and three of Disguise Self extracts for the others when we catch up with the captives, really.
Hooray for no longer having uselessly unprepped spell slots.
Great Mastiff |
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13, yes, I know he has a crappy will save for a caster, I said he had less common sense than a stunned fieldmouse...
Also, given that he is currently under the effects of the spell Summon Eidolon, rather than the usual Eidolon summons, the shell will only last for a total of four minutes. Feel free to determine the time runs out when it runs out...
As the armored form materializes, it immediately shifts to a defensive stance.
][Imperative, declamation, Query: Threat; Y/N?][
Professor Quinto Addermire |
Assuming the necessary sample is provided and there are no sudden interruptions, the professor pulls a case from his pack, mixing together the contents of various vials, occasionally swirling them, and holding them to the light. "There we are!" He hand one to Figit while tossing back another. "This should allow us to understand the language of our invaders... although when it comes time to answer back, I'm afraid we'll have to make do with nods, shrugs, and other such business." He then holds up a second pair, again offering one to his assistant. "This on the other hand should allow us to more plausibly pass ourselves off as crew members of this... bizarre conveyance." With that, he quickly swigs the remaining vial with a grimace. Almost immediately thereafter, he undergoes a rapid transformation, becoming yet another female Lashunta.
"Simple as that... although there may be some issues with your current attire I suppose." Not missing a beat, the transformed professor sets about donning one of the strange uniforms hanging nearby, being mindful to stare intently at the wall should anyone else follow suit.
Celes Sontiri |
Tumble time! Celes falls out with Victor, Vanna, and the robot. Seeing that Victor was dropped (assuming he is prone) Celes will make an effort to get to him, and get him on his feet. An effort that may or may not provoke the metal man. Regardless, an effort she makes.
Elai C'tara |
Deciding it's not worth putting a suit on, since she's already wearing Lashunta clothing, Elai decides to open up the airlock door and take a look through.
Assuming she sees the robot carrying the others, since her abilities don't tend to work on robots she'll try and just tell it what to do.
"Bring them to me."
Nixie |
ROUND 4
The robot, shaken from Vana's shock, takes a feeble swing at Celes
AoO: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 12 - 2 = 23
damage: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (8, 7) + 5 = 20 And slams her hard! hope you guys have healing!
Upon hearing Elai's command the robot appears to stop. It stands strait and still. then, slowly, the visor thingy covering it's face begins to open...
The robot needs a full round action to open his visor. Anyone ever see the old Day The Earth Stood Still? Then you know what's commin!
Actions available for everyone accept Grey, since Elai opened the door:

Might be time to step it up a notch
When I see the metal man knock Celes unconscious, I go for the knife in my coat and leap up aiming for any gap below the head
Okay, Buddy. That's the last straw. Nobody busts up a dame like that in my town. You made your last mistake.
Melee Attack, knife: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
possible damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Elai C'tara |
Elai moves to take cover behind the cool spaceship, drawing her Dorje as she does so, firing off a blast as soon as she's in position.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Further +3 if it's wearing metal armour (?)
Electrical Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Well that was somewhat lacklustre.
Figit Pattal |
Oh hey, it's everyone from the bar. Wait, it that a giant metal man? DID THE METAL MAN KNOCK OUT THAT PRETTY WOMAN? These thoughts race through Figit's mind as the door opens and she sees what is going on. Angered, she takes a few steps forward, notches her bow, and lets loose an arrow.
Bow Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 221d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
This is if my movement brings me within 30 feet of the robot. If not, shave off 1 from each result.
Vanna Barahal |
Her spells are having an effect. It released victor, but when the room opened up, they were in a whole new room. What is going on? Then the metal construct takes out Celes. Gritting her teeth, she conjures more electrical force and discharges it into the robot.
Shocking grasp, why fix what isn't broken
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 4) = 16
Celes Sontiri |
Ow.
Her efforts in vain, Celes felt all her strength leave her as she went plummeting to the ground. She writhed in pain, unable to stand up again. Though she had the energy in her to reach into her bag and pull out her potion from her bag.
Okay no more Hero for me.
Professor Quinto Addermire |
The professor takes the time to study the scene, hoping to determine the purpose and capabilities of the various strange devices strewn about the room, most notably the large metal golem, and whether that's some sort of gaze attack to be worried about.
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Inspiration if that's even the right check: 23 + 1d6 ⇒ 23 + (4) = 27
Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Inspiration because I am using this whole pool today: 14 + 1d6 ⇒ 14 + (2) = 16
And it's hard to guess the exact map scale here. If I can actually get close enough to reach it next round, may as well declare studied combat. If not, might as well double move to get a bit closer.
Nixie |
And it's hard to guess the exact map scale here
General Rule: As long as no one's blatently trying to break the game, you can assume you CAN do/move/use whatever you want to. I declared rules lite up front so if you catch my monsters with their pants down because I didn't put us on a battle grid, more power to ya!
Nixie |
Victor's knife glances harmlessly off the hulking metal armor. The robot give no reaction. It's face shield continues to open.
Elai: does hit (cause it is wearing metal armor) but the damage is beyond minimal:(
Figit: racking my brain to think how an arrow might hurt a 1950s sci-fi alien robot, lol! The arrow flies true and the very lucky shot pinks onto it's metal head, distracting it just as...
Nixie |
...it takes another full shot of shocking damage from Vanna. This must have pissed it off because it begins to turn it's gaze toward Vana as the target of whatever is behind that rising face shield...
Nixie |
Professor is aware thet the "bombs" are bombs and the "cool space ship" is a space ship. He does not know what strange force may be powering it. Quinto also sees that up in the ceiling are the retracted coils of the tentacle machine that abducted people from the bar. Perhapse the panel by the turbo lift operates it.

Nixie |
Awe Victor, such a gentleman!
I think I just found a picture of Victor getting attacked by LGOC on the internet!
Professor Quinto Addermire |
The professor, in disguise but seeing no hostile Lashunta, begins sharing a variety of observations. "Forgiving appearances for the moment, it seems that golem is preparing some flaming ray you may wish not to line up in front of, and those large objects piled up over there seem as though they may be quite flammable. Meanwhile, it seems we've a smaller conveyance here, and those abducting appendages are stowed in the ceiling. Have any of you happened across the others who were taken yet?" 'And wasn't there talk of mental communication? I can't help but wonder on the specifics of that...'
