Join Quinn, Brayken and Faunra in tracking down the Bandits that raided Kassen's Crypt!

This campaign is following on from a Crypt of the Everflame PBP but some of the players have decided not to continue. So I'm looking for 1-2 characters. To be clear you will be jumping on board at the beginning of the module.

Character Creation

Level: 3 (average +1 for hp above 1st level.)
Point Buy: 20 points
Classes: no Gunslingers, Ninjas, Samurai or Swashbucklers (Sorry just my personal preference.)
Races: Core rulebook
Traits: None
Alignments: No evil
Starting Gold: 3000gp

The continuing characters are a Rogue, a Fighter and a Ranger.

Your Character has grown up in or has recently made their way to Kassen a town on the border of Nirmathas and Lastwall. There you've been contracted by a Pathfinder named Cygar to track down some bandits that raided Kassen's Crypt a few months ago and recover the artefacts they stole.

This game is not for PFS credit.

I'd like to apply with a human sorcerer. Will have him ready shortly

Any purchased materials required? Would you take a cleric with no deity?

Will start on a character now.

Purchased materials? Sorry I don't understand the question.

A cleric with no deity? Yes that would be acceptable (and possibly quite an interesting character).

Sorry, I missed the background info (somehow). Never mind.

Here is Markus Alexander, human rakshasa blooded sorcerer.

Background:
Markus is known as many different people. Some know him as Stump, the unintelligent but friendly half-orc. Others know him as Doc, the wise old Dwarf. Still some may recognize him as Ulreak, the half-elf small town diplomat. But none of these are who he really is. Markus grew up in an orphanage, and found making friends quite easy. Unfortunately for him, the owner of the orphanage was quite neglectful. Many days, the children would go without eating. Markus knew what had to be done, so he took all the orphans to the streets and taught them how to survive. He was never the person who did the stealing, his talent was distracting and manipulating the victims. One day he got a little too greedy after noticing a hat that he just had to have. He distracted the man while his crew went to steal the hat. They thought they had gotten away with it, but got stopped by a guard several minutes later. Everyone ran for it, with the guards hot on their tail. Markus managed to find a hiding spot in a dark alley, and watched as all his friends were caught and arrested. After he knew he was safe, he tried the hat on and realized its power. He could change his appearance at will. He knew the potential he had stumbled upon and devoted his time to perfecting his aliases.

Personality:
This short human man is a deceiver, a manipulator, and quite a character. He is smart, nimble and most of all, smooth. He seeks to make connections wherever he goes, and is willing to work with anyone for the right price. He prefers to be around people who are laid back, and finds Paladins to be too stuck up. If you’re looking for someone who can come up with a plan, talk, and use magic, this is your man.

I would like to apply with a human witch. LN, I can have a persona and background ready within a day. He will not be vanilla by any means.

Dotting for interest. I played through the first book as a half-elf ranger and the game dried up before going any further, and I've always wanted to see where the adventure path went from there. I'm going to put together a halfling cleric of Cayden Cailen to help with healing and divine casting. Probably a support/protection type character.

Hey ScubaSteve, how would you like the idea of having intertwined backgrounds? We would have similar alignments and my character would have a lot of fun keeping you out of trouble when your escapades went wrong. GM, what do you think of the idea of having backgrounds that tie into each other?

Withdrawing interest, sorry for the inconvenience.

Sounds neat. I'd be down for that. If GM Kip is alright with it, it could be a fun experience.

I want to buy a slave for my witch character. It would be like a perma-unseen servant, but seen. Slave as a Gear Thing. I'm open to all ideas about what we could do with it, the slave could have a personality and I could roleplay him too if you want. It's just an idea at this point, but it could make for an interesting character point. We could make it something cool.

I have the crunch for this character made out other than gear.

His general concept is that as a youth he went on a spirit journey into a desert (we can put it on the Golarion map wherever fits) and had a spiritual encounter. He was imbued with certain mystic energies and has the ability to tell fortunes, interpret dreams, and is a flute-charmer. Visually, when he uses his hexes, he bewitches his foes by his flute's melodies. Sort of a sandman/snake charmer dynamic going on.

Of course, that's his backgrounds' general concept without any personality or actual character development developed yet...
Which will be expounded and contextualized to fit the setting and style of your campaign.
His name is Reaubalt, and here is his character sheet thus far:

Reaubalt of the Sands

Tactically, he is a buffer/debuffer support.

I don't know what your GM'ing style or gameplay preference is, but I'm down for heavy roleplaying, immersion, tactical wargaming, or hacknslash. Let me know what your game is geared towards and I will gear myself and Reaubalt towards it.

Backgrounds that tie into each other can be great, go for it.

Looking forward to seeing your submissions That Other Guy and CaptainCarl

I'm open to the slave idea. Are you aiming for some kind of tangible bound spirit? That could be interesting.

My gameplay preference is fairly balanced with a possible slight leaning towards the roleplaying side of things.

My Gming style is (I like to think) player driven. I do like to react and improvise depending on what the players decide to do, though that can be tricky when running modules.

I tried so hard to come up with a savvy ninja quip to come back at ya but I couldn't. You win. Also, kids are great, so you have some points already.

I mean to have the outline of the backstory in concise narrative form within 24 hours of posting this, if chosen for the campaign I can expound on it if desired.

I also think the idea of a soulbound servant dude would be cool, and that playing it well could add to roleplay a bit. WE SHALL SEEE.

Question: What is the pacing like in your campaign as it's going right now? Let's say for like the past month, how has it been/felt going through it?

Hello GM, I'll re-submit Dee from the previous thread, for your consideration:

Deirdre "Dee" Elendir
APPEARANCE

Background:

Dee is quite unusual for an elf. Her childhood experiences have changed her significantly: she lost her parents in an ambush while she was still very young, and she was rescued by a human couple, the Woodsons, who adopted her and raised her as their own child for ten years in a farm just outside Kassen. She became very attached to George and Henry, their young twins: the three children shared food, play, siblings' quarrels and siblings' unwavering camaraderie. When George and Henry celebrated their sixteenth birthday, with no apparent reason whatsoever (or at least, no reason that Dee would understand until she became much, much older) their mother decided that it was time for Dee to go back to her own people, to learn of their ways and explore her true heritage, including her innate magic. She was therefore brought to an elf colony and remained there for the next eighty years, but the memory of those amazing days in Kassen have stayed with her, and she became almost obsessed with anything human-related. As soon as she became an adult, she decided to go back to Kassen; even though George and Henry were probably dead by now, she wanted to find her own place in a human community, where she feels she ultimately belongs. Her positive and adventurous spirit and her magic power have brought her to Cygar's attention: she accepted his offer gladly, since she sees the Pathfinders as a shining example of a dedicated, successful human community.

Keen Senses: Elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception skill checks.

Bloodline (Arcane - Wildblooded: Sage)

Bloodline Arcana: Unlike most sorcerers, whose innate magic is powered by force of personality, you use your intellect to understand and master your mystic powers. You use your Intelligence, rather than your Charisma, to determine all class features and effects relating to your sorcerer class, such as bonus spells per day, the maximum spell level you can cast, the save DCs of your spells, and the number of daily uses of your bloodline powers. You gain a +2 bonus on all Knowledge (arcana) and Spellcraft checks.

Bloodline Powers: Your preferred focus is a bolt of mind-spun magic.

Arcane Bolt (6/day, 1d4+1) (Sp): Starting at 1st level, you can unleash a ray of magic force as a standard action, targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. This ray deals 1d4 points of damage + 1 for every two sorcerer levels you possess. This damage is treated as a spell of a level equal to half your sorcerer level, and is a force effect. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier. This bloodline power replaces arcane bond.

Your feedback will be welcome and appreciated.
Thank you!

The last month was pretty good. It did take us awhile to get back into the swing of things after Christmas. I've just gone and counted and I made roughly 30 posts in February and that's with a week off where I was unable to post due to being on vacation.

Hey, I really like what you have going on here, but for the sake of responsibility and life balance, I have to bow out this time. Have fun you guise. Give them hell.

Would you allow a sorcerer that is a Priest of Razmire sorcerer archetype? That is from another temple and is trying to stop this one from becoming more powerful?

I'm not really keen on this idea. Sorry.

I have gotten up a short background for my cleric, tied in with Markus. I intend to add a lot more details and some more plot, probably at least doubling the size before I'm done. For now here's a preview of what to expect. Cora Montajay

Added to background to intertwine with Cora Montajay.

Years later, Markus was visiting Kassen trying to find a new sucker when he overheard some men talking about problems in a nearby crypt. After inquiring about it, he went to the church disguised as Stump to see if he could get some money out of this problem they had. He spoke to a short Halfling woman when he reached the church, asking if he could help get rid of the problems they were having for a small fee. He had no intentions of getting rid of the problem, but thought that this person seemed fairly ignorant. She said there was no way Markus would be able to handle it alone, but if he could gather together a few more people, they could try to clear it out and would pay them. He figured as long as they didn’t need to see them all together, he could pretend to be several different people, then get paid much more. He told the woman he’ll be back in the morning with the names of 3 more people who would go down with him, then went off to the inn to sleep. Once he got into bed, the door swung open. It was the Halfling woman from the church. He tried to play it off like it wasn’t a big deal, but she was not the fool Markus had originally thought. Before he could do anything, the woman told Markus it was ok, she wouldn’t tell anyone. This was surprising to him. Markus hadn’t had friends since he was back in the orphanage, so he wasn’t sure if this was an attempt at friendship or just a good dead from a cleric. Either way, she was different, and Markus liked this about her. He decided he would stay in Kassen and get to know his new acquaintance a little better. A year passed, and the two became close friends. Markus taught her some of the tricks of the street, and she kept Markus from causing too much trouble. Eventually his desire to travel became too much, but he didn’t want to leave his friend behind. He asked her to come with and she gladly accepted. They were just about to set out when they were approached by the Pathfinders…

will this be for a single mod, or are you planning to continue on after this one?

submitting a cartomancer witch.

cartomancer basically removes the mechanic of a familiar.

With 3 martial characters (rogue, fighter, ranger), thought a spellcaster (no offense ranger) would make a good addition to the party. This witch is a de-buffer, allowing the rest of the party to do their jobs more easily.

I originally created him as a tiefling (fits flavor of witch), but can easily change to either an elf or human if you want to stick with only core races (as state in creation guidelines). I currently have him at lvl 1, but bumping up to lvl 3 can be done quickly if accepted.

When are you planning on selecting/starting?

Thank you for your consideration.

Dot.

Thinking the group could benifit full caster. Thinking Oracle using the words of power system.

GM Kip,

I am looking to get into another low level game, and Seeing that there is a rogue, a fighter, and a ranger...

I am going to try to offer something that is very very controversial. A paladin.

Not a lawful stupid paladin, but I will try to portray him as acting with honor as best as he can, even in difficult situations...

If this is inherently clashing with the party, I will play a cleric instead. Still with the same code of personal honor... Just without the connotations that go with Paladins and he will be lawful neutral instead of Lawful Good

If I'm too late to submit a character, I will understand

-Death_Keeper

"Ah, so many clerics here. It is refreshing to be among friends." Liliana looks through her gear, taking out a silver symbol, a winged sword. She proudly places it on thin string, tying it on her neck. She looks around, searching holy symbols, looking for a fellow follower of the the Everlight.

Where is he? I am late, but why is it so dark in here, couldn't they spare a few candles? Liliana closes her eyes, breathing deeply. "My heavenly flame," she begins, her voice a whisper amongst the others who have gathered. "...shine they light upon thy children..." she continues, her voice rising, her symbol producing a small light like a candle. "...and cast off Darkness!" her voice is loud like a choir, and her hand shines bright like the sun. She guides her hand to her symbol, and it takes on her glow. She hold it in front of her, a literal beacon of her faith. "Much better."

Liliana walks around, dozens of holy symbols chiming on her as they knock upon her armor. She searches the crowd now, looking for someone. She approaches a hooded man. "Are you Cygar perhaps? I am Liliana Saint-Cecilia Martell, an agent of Her Healing Light." She waves her symbol back and forth, shining a nigh blinding light upon the man. His face is revealed, covered in scars, folded in anger. He gets up, and draws a knife from his pocket.

"Oh heavens, Cygar can wait." she remarks. Her eyes look at the man with glee, a smile curls at her lips. Her symbol close to her chest. Her voice rings like church bells. "It is time to make a convert!"

Character Information:

Liliana Saint-Cecilia Martell is a loyal follower of Sarenrae. Her early life was spent in the care of clerics and paladins, sheltering her from the outside world. "Naive" is perhaps the best way to describe her, with "zealot" being a close second. While she believes in Sarenrae, she disputes some of the teaching, mostly in regards to justice.

Liliana firmly believes that everyone, regardless of previous sin, is capable of atonement. She believes not that evil must be delivered justice, so much that it should be redeemed, changed to become champions of good. Liliana believes in second chances, believes in the goodness of man, despite all of the evil she had seen.

Oftentimes, she is used or tricked because of her nature. She however, has yet to show signs of disbelief for her cause. On many occasions she has been stabbed, stolen from, or lied to, usually as she refuses to not attempt to redeem those around her. She aspires to convert as many men and women to be followers of Sarenrae, and to spread good throughout the world.

Liliana carries many religious items on her at all times. Countless symbols, holy books, holy water, religious staffs, sanctified rings. She has even branded herself with a holy tattoo, found on the back of her left hand. When casting spells she always gives a prayer (always in Haiku 5-7-5 format). While she is willing to work with questionable, even evil people, if the intentions are good, and if she has even the slightest hope of making them better people, she is more than happy.

I have most things ready for the character, and will be able to finish it if chosen. I am a DM for an intrigue based Homebrew campaign. If you would like to see some of my work/writings, I suggest checking there.

Liberty's Edge

Character updated on profile of alias.

Leveled up to lvl 3
changed race to elf
changed alias portrait
-------------------------

are you going to allow for downtime/crafting?

if so, I might need to "tweak" slightly

Likewise, updated for 3rd level, did gear basics. Will do skills, spells and finish off items if I can coordinate with the party some. Already have scribe scroll, so I would like to come into play with some previously written ones, same with self-made holy water.

Largely decided on a support based cleric playing the role of the religious know-everything (religion being a theme of the game and what not) and a zealot. As an avid follower of Sarenrae, it could lead to some interesting conflicts with devotees of their faith, maybe even raise some internal conflicts.

Determined to assist the party and lead them down the right path. A moral compass only points in a direction after all, it cannot force anyone to go a direction. Promise I won't report anyone to the authorities for stealing, but it doesn't mean I won't try to convince them we should return it later.

Wow this is shaping up to be a tough choice.

Adding
Goldstool Shroomshrine with Liliana Saint-Cecillia Martell
Zomblisham
Deathkeeper

Ok couple of notes:

Liliana and Akvius. I noticed your characters have traits. I am not actually using traits for this game.

Akvius, if all goes well I'll probably continue with the next module at the end of this. I don't like to commit to to much at one time as I never know where real life will take me.

DeathKeeper, I don't mind if you want to play a Paladin roll it up and I'll see if it will fit what the party needs.

Thank you for the consideration. The traits were nonessential, I will remove them. If there is anything you need from me I am always open to PM.

Full disclosure, I've never done an AP before. Fuller disclosure, I've never done a golation setting until, so I will need to do some lore research. I actually had no idea who Sarenrae was until a few days ago. Fullest disclosure, never been a player, only a DM. If chosen, I'm excited to be on the flip side of things.

Kip84

This is Antonius Moretti, my level 3 paladin. He doesn't have equipment yet, but I am currently purchasing it and some other things, Are there any restrictions upon the items?

Anyone want to work a backstory? Does a naive, NG cleric have something that you want? I am not too keen on Golarion lore, so having someone tether me here would be nice.

Lilliana spies Antonius. "Ooh! A paladin! Who is your God, noble warrior?" Liliana tries to keep her excitement down. Sarenrae, please be Sarenrae, she thinks to her herself, eager at the mere possibility at another follower of Her Light.

"Hello, miss, I am Antonius Moretti, I worship Iomedae, Irori, Sarenrae, and Erastil first and foremost, but all deserve respect." he answers civilly, with a soft voice.

Antonius has a recurved steel bow, heavy armor, and a strange curved bladed sword, but this is offset by a light smile and a short blond hair

Sure, I'm good with that, We definitely could totally have a shared backstory.

Not to try and squash your fun, but typically you shouldn't roleplay in the recruitment thread unless the GM specifically asks for it. It clutters up the thread and draws attention away from the actual recruitment.

Yes yes, it was more just a fun way to ask for a collaboration. I will hold myself back for future messages.

Sorry, Liliana, I have to withdraw from this campaign, sorry about that.....

GM Kip, when are you closing recruitment?

Recruitment will finish tonight. Sorry about the wait.

Wow, this was hard. So hard I even considered taking three of you but even then I couldn't pick. In the end I've decided to accept

Markus Alexander, by ScubaSteve
And
Cora Montajay, by CampinCarl

Thank you all for your interest. I will Pm you if a spot opens up.

Markus and Cora please introduce yourselves in the discussion thread and dot the gameplay thread.

An honor to even have been considered. Thank you kindly for your time. I hope that everyone has the grandest adventures in the future.
