Traveling through the southern lands of Rostland was an ardous journey but finally you have arrived at the sole outpost in the Greenbelt, Oleg's Trading Post.

Oleg’s Trading Post looks more like a run down fort and is surrounded by a wooden palisade that stands 10 feet high. At each corner of the palisade are 20-footsquare watchtowers, each armed with a run-down catapult left over from the site’s original use as a border fort. There’s one entrance through the palisade—a 30-foot-wide wooden gate.

Approaching the trading post you can see a man working on the roof of one of the buildings, while a woman observes him from the courtyard below.

BAMN. I'm here.. where da bandits at?

Sugua along the journey had grasped what he thought was the groups mindsets. Vlad was your standard city-bred wet towel who tried to mask his urges under morality; Durielle was the weak and farsighted, sometimes didn't pay attention but generally was friendly; Thessk was an anomaly of a Lizardfolk, green of scale and pinkskin all inside, one of the goody-goody; Tomas was a pencil-neck arcanist who could blow things up when needed; Angor was an orc after his own heart, a hardy creature who shared his meaning to fight but was a little more reserved; Opposite of that was Khargol who wanted boring order everywhere under his god.. at least it meant fair pay; Morgrym was a Dwarf.. that's all he could say.

As they approached the post Sugua was hefting his sword over his shoulder still unimpressed at how.. mundane the trip was. They had no encounters with hostility the entire way, not even some bandits. I guess the group was simply too big? Either way once they came within shouting distance, Sugua raised his voice and sword and announced himself, " Hail! This be the Trading post know to be owned by.. Er.. Oleg? "

Still unsure what to make of many of his new companions, with the exception of Sugua whom he had taken a immediate dislike to, Vladimir spends most of the ride to Oleg's Trading Post studying his fellow chartered explorers.

Arriving at the outpost, Vladimir is about to call out to the proprietor when Sugua bellows out.

Well at least he did not charge the walls and try and kill the two of them...that's something I suppose. he thinks to himself, remaining otherwise silent as he awaits a response from within the fort's walls.

Durielle looks at the sight of their destination happily. It had been a long road from Brevoy. She had never before spent so much time in the company of men without another female. It had been an eye opening experience to say the least.

"We appear to have arrived everyone. The last stop before the Stolen Lands, our charter, and destiny..."

Angor, though he is large and intimidating, is actually very approachable. Willing to talk to anyone that approaches, they find him mostly easy going. The peaceful journey to the Greenbelt meant they had not seen the transformation that occurs when he truly gets into the War Chanter's rhythm. He has given them only a taste of his people's music throughout the journey. Most of the time it has been in the morning to get people awake and moving. Few can drown out a bellowing half-orc. Some like it. Some do not. Either way, he kept them moving at a good pace and making good time. At the wall he is content to let Sugua take the lead. He had a loud voice. Maybe he would be a good War Chanter too.

Tomas had stayed mostly to himself the entire trip. It was only luck that he was included on this expedition, and as such he did not want to jeopardize his position. He spoke with the others, though kept his distance from the 1/2 orcs and the lizardman, speaking mostly to the Durielle, Vladimir and Morgrym.
Upon arriving at the 'Tradepost', Tomas slowly lowered himself from his saddle, sore and weary from the travel. He listened as Sugua called out to the building, and awaits an answer from within.

Hearing Sugua cry out, the woman in the courtyard turns to the party and waves to them before approaching.

"It's so nice to meet you all" she says.

"We received a letter a few days ago announcing your arrival."

Turning back to the trading post she shouts out, "Oleg get down here! "

Facing the party again she extends her hand to Vladimir, "I'm Svetlana by the way. Thank you so much for coming to aid us."

Morgrym and his companions are on the doorstep to their future. The crew was motly but Morgrym felt like they could get the job done, they had arived at their last stop before the truely harrowing part of the journey began.

"Well lads a new day is almost upon us, eyes open, heads high. let me say, its a pleasure to be here with all of you" Morgrym says with a smile, he may be with these people for some time, no need for bad blood because of rude behaviour

Sugua gives off a whistle at the woman clearly as a compliment and attest to her beauty; She wasn't anywhere near Orcess level of hot though. However the way in which she assumed their involvement had him interested. The Half-Orc raises a brow and smiled showing his tusks and teeth.

" Sugua Bran't, Now tell me what did you mean by 'Help'? I mean I know we came out here to clear the area so that the big wiggs can come down here and build things up but you seemed to be talking about something else with how happy you seem Pinkskin Svetlana. With a bow, Vladimir takes and kisses the woman's hand. "Pleased to meet you, Svetlana. I am Vladimir Ducheski, one of eight chartered to explore the Greenbelt and rid it of what has been reported as rampant banditry."

"I will not presume to introduce my companions, as they are all capable of doing that for themselves. It has been a long ride from Restov. May you by chance have room for us for the evening and perhaps a meal. It goes without saying that we would be happy to compensate you for these services."

Oleg makes his way down from the rooftop as the party begins their introductions.

Drawing closer you can see Oleg is a massive man, standing as tall as Sugua. His bulging muscles gleam with sweat from working the roof and his mop of red hair is stuck to his face.

Standing next to the small and beautiful Svetlana they look like total opposites.

He merely grunts to the party in greeting, to which Svetlana casts him a repremanding look.

She turns back to the party and smiles, "I've prepared a stew for you all, I imagine the trip has made you hungry. Why don't we all step inside and we can talk over dinner?"

"I am Durielle Omenstar, and I would like to thank you for your greetings and the offer of stew. We were definitely running low on spices and other things, and our fare has become more basic these last few days." Durielle didn't say anything further on the matter, but there is little doubt she refers to the rampant over-spicing the half-orcs seemed to enjoy when it had been their rotations for cooking.

"Will you need a hand with anything, Mistress Svetlana? We are not so tired we would require you to serve all of us without lending a hand. These strapping men are full of fight and happy to help, I can promise you that." Durielle shares a look with the smaller woman and winks.

Durielle looks puzzled, and suddenly sees flurries of prophetic visions. All she can see is everyone currently at the fort making and unmaking choices. It's very overwhelming, and she begins to cough horribly. The coughs are wet, and she wipes her mouth with a cloth she has for such a purpose. The cloth is in a sorry state and will surely have to be replaced soon stained as it is with old blood.

"My apologies," she says weakly while shaking her head to clear her competing visions of the future. Confused by what the lady means, Durielle chooses to step away for the moment and leads Whisper to the stable in order to unsaddle her and rub the mare down.

Silent to this point save for nods of greeting to their hosts, Khargol follows Durielle to the stables to put up his own horse. While they are there, those putting their own mounts away will notice the affection and care with which he treats the animal, showing another side to his otherwise stoic personality.

When the main group is rejoined, Khargol nods in response to Svetlana's refusal of the offer to assist. "Still...if you should require any assistance during our stay here, please do not hesitate to ask for it. I'm certain that any here are more than willing to assist with anything that needs taking care of."

Noticing for the first time the state of the cloth Durielle is using when she has a coughing fit, Khargol frowns, immediately removing one strap of his backpack and unzipping the top pouch, fishing around in it until he finds the scarf his adventuring gear came with. "Durielle, please take my scarf. I am not one to be of cold nature and have never once used it, but have kept it should need of it ever arise. Need of it has now arisen."

"Oleg, Svetlana, if you can, tell us what you have seen or what has happened here so that we may formulate a plan of how to deal with the problem."

Svetlana nods to Vladimir's words as she sets out bowls across two tables and begins to full them with stew.

"I hope no one here minds pork, Oleg managed to catch a wild hog in a snare yesterday."

"Oleg can tell you all about the bandits" she says finally sitting down across from her husband.

But oleg seems wholly distracted by his stew and to have not to have heard his wife.

After a few seconds, Svetlana gives a small cough but Oleg continues to be fascinated by his bowl's design.

A moment later the whole table jumps and Oleg yells out in pain as Svetlana has very obviously kicked him hard from under the table.

"Alright woman! Alright! You bout damn near broke my leg!"

Khargol's eyes narrow as soon as he hears the "b" word out of Svetlana's mouth. "Bandits? You are having bandit troubles? By all means, tell us of them. I pledge to do all I can to rid your life of their menace." he says. His entire demeanor has become almost deathly serious at the mention of the brigands.

"Svetlana and I have been down here about six months going on now."

"We heard on the way down here all about the bandits, but once we arrived it all seemed like a bunch of bluster. Not hide nor hair of them."

Oleg sighs, "Well that all changed three months ago."

"Might as well have been a small army that comes marching on up into the post. Lead by a woman in black."

Oleg keeps his eyes down to his stew as he continues, "Listen here, I did my time in the military, and I've never met a man that has scared me."

Oleg looks up and around at the table and indicates to those most martially inclined. "I can see on some of you how you're no stranger to battle, and I respect you for it, but let me speak plainly when I say that none of you frighten me. I've made peace with death a long time ago."

Oleg shakes his head, "But this woman scared me. There was just something about the look in her eyes, I can't describe it. "

"Anyways, they come in and demand all the furs and goods we've made for the month. Tell me that if I refuse, they'll kill me, burn down the trading post, and take Svetlana back to their camp... Well you know."

"So I give in, what else could I do?"

"Since then, every month on the first they show up bright and early to claim what's theirs."

"But,the woman hasn't come back luckily since the first time, and each month fewer bandits come to make their claim."

"If ever there is a time to fight back, it's probably now."

Really twenty men isnt so bad if you have the home ground, we just need to take out the leaders from the Chattel. But sure if any of them don't die after all is said and done, you can 'capture' them all you like. I won't stop you unless they are my opponent, can't make any promises there. "

Morgrym listening intently is taking time to consider a battle plan but has a few questions of his own "These bandits, do they all enter your fort at once, trying to bully with numbers up front, or do they usually send one in and the rest wait outside? a trap sounds like the perfect combat maneuver."

Morgrym does shift in his tone after that statement, taking a quite serious concern "I would ask that i greet the brigands and offer them a chance at ending their ways, in fact if we are to set up a base of operations down here any who would swear fealty to us could be helpful. do you feel Oleg that any of them would take this offer and would leave their banditry? if any can be saved i will personally risk the chance to do so, Grundinnar insists that i try"

"Fair enough, I suppose. Without the woman here, it is all that more important that we capture and question a few of their number, preferablly one that appears to be in charge."

Turning back Oleg, "You say the woman has not been back, has there been any one of those that has returned that has appeared to hold any authority over the others? If so, who?"

"Morgrym, I do not have an issue with that at all, as long as those who are unrepentant are put to the sword. Those who do repent will be subject to punishment, just something less harsh than death. Beyond that each of the repentant will have restituton to be paid, in the form of gold and/or labor. We should be very clear with those that accept those terms, no second chances will be given. Should they return to their vile ways, only death awaits them."

As she attempts to lead Whisper to the stable, Durielle is flabbergasted when Sugua grabs her and carries her around as if she's just a sack of flour. She protests indignantly up until she is thrust into the chair.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Durielle is touched by the couple's concern, but before she can say anything Thessk speaks. She sighs as she knows it is difficult for others to see past her illness, and for the time being she will have to endure such treatment with grace. However...

Angry and upset at the orchandling given by Sugua, she says, "It would please me greatly if you do not ever do that again without permission, Sugua Bran't. We are certainly not familiar enough for that kind of behavior."

Taking a breath to regain her composure, Durielle accepts the offered cup of tea with a murmur of thanks. Despite the circumstances for which she arrived in this spot, it felt good to be sitting in an actual chair and drinking warm tea even if her legs and buttocks were still horse-sore.

She listens carefully as the group begins discussion on how best to save the traders from the bandits extorting them. She nods along with the others asserting that they should help the married couple. With their agreements, she begins to see the muddled futures that troubled her earlier coalescing into a sharper image, one in which they engaged these villainous outlaws in combat. Soon Durielle would need to witness death yet again...

"Whatever our individual reasons for doing so, I believe I can safely speak for everyone when I say that we are united in a desire to help you against these unfortunate vagrants who have lost sight of a better way. And Mistress Svetlana, I have a question for you..."

Durielle whispers to Svetlana:
"Have you stil the entrails of the wild pig? I would make a divining with them if I could. Afterwards I would be happy to help make them into sausage."

I'm planning on taking advantage of Durielle's 1/day Natural Divination if the entrails are available.
