Here's the situation. Human cleric evangelist, lots of enchantment focused abilities, including spell focus. the major enemies in the campaign are outsiders. human favored class for clerics is +1 PER LEVEL to overcome the SR of outsiders. does he even NEED spell pen, for the off chance he encounters something that's not an outsider? if so, how early should he take it? one of my players was curious and i honestly dont know. i could see not taking it, +10 at 10th level to beat SR is great. and the most common thing with SR IS outsiders. especially in the savage tides AP. If he doesnt take spell pen and greater, it frees up more feats. thoughts?

It certainly is a very useful Favoured Class option for Savage Tide, but I wouldn't see taking it at every level would be needed. I don't remember dealing with any significant number of outsiders until at least level 7 or 8 (except the odd encounter), so why would the cleric take it as an option up until then?

Using it from there on in would be useful. Personally would only take 5 or so points in it, and maybe the feats too (as they work universally) if he's using enchantment all the time.
