It's more convenient for me to take snapshots of the maps in the PDFs and upload them. Mainly because I'm not familiar with how the scanner I have at home works.

IIRC, Diamond Lake is supposed to be more like Torch in Iron Gods. It's designed to be a hometown, so it's given enough detail for people to make up backstories, but the PCs are also sort of supposed to want to leave it and only come back a few times.
You should also bear in mind that the PCs aren't really intended to leave Diamond Lake until Encounter at Blackwall Keep, and aren't intended to reach the Free City until Hall of Harsh Reflections. Erik Mona described Diamond Lake as a "gauntlet". So PCs need stuff to do while they're there.
It's worth noting that Diamond Lake also originally had nobody in town capable of performing resurrections or reincarnations.

Pretty much. Rounds will get quicker as more enemies fall, but then they'll probably get slower again while I'm at Paizocon (oh, yeah, I'm going to be heading off for Paizocon Thursday).
EDIT: Oh, did you mean within the context of the Games? Yeah, you guys aren't gonna have any more battles scheduled for today—other teams will be fighting afterward.

Carina do you mind heading southwest? It looks like the only non-pitted elf is that way.

Yar, that's what I was wondering about. Debating on whether to use my Quick Runner's Shirt during this whole deal.

Astraden Limhaare |
What! Leaving the Coenoby? Eben, you little rule-breaker . . .
It's still gonna be pretty crowded tonight, but we might be able to have Sombra go scout it out. I mean, technically, she's not even part of our team.
DankeSean RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4 |
Tonight it goes from thirty teams to six. That's pretty uncrowded. Tanith and Carina can actually have sex without rolling over a sleeping ogre!
Sombra can scout, sure, but we can also be smart about it: I think Eben & Astraden can disguise ourselves as guards and, if we get caught, work on bluffing our way out of it. 'Raknian wanted to question this group! Thinks its fishy how weak they're supposed to be and then they crushed the opposition in their match today!'.

It might be better, now, if you guys head southeast to back up Astraden. The elves are on the ropes, and if they and Draconic Blood get polished off in the same round then our healer is surrounded by Badlanders.
DankeSean RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4 |
I was hoping we could pick up Badlands as allies once it came down to three teams too. They're more damaged and would ultimately be an easier kill in the finals. But what probably would have happened is that they and the Sapphires would have recognized the six of us (presumably with nobody taken out yet, as opposed to them having at least one loss apiece) as a bigger threat and teamed up on us.
But since Rodrigo just attacked them mid-alliance, I imagine it's a moot point.

Bah! This airplane wifi is terrible,
Tanith's buffless AC is 20. With mage armor, shield, iron skin, and haste he's 34. I messed up that line when I edited my resources.

Sorry about slacking on the post today--just completed my honours thesis, edited it, and handed it in. Spent the rest of the day decompressing.
I'll get a post up shortly. :)

You guys still blow me away with your posting speed. Reassures me that there are still bigger nerds than me out there. What was your thesis on, Carina? By the way you spell honours I assume you're from the UK or one of its less rebellious former colonies...do you have to write a thesis to graduate with honors where you live?

My thesis was on social anxiety in first-year university students. :) I had to write it to earn my Honours Equivalency--I'm already a Psychology undergraduate.
And I'm Canadian.
Rodrigo Dantares |
So you'll get like a BSc Hon? Or a BA Hon? Interesting...I don't think we have that at my university. I'm American (prolly obvious). I'm hoping to graduate suma cum laude...I've been busting ass and kept a 4.0 so far. Cross my fingers it'll stay that way.

A question about the finder permutations of Action Points:
If I spend an AP to emulate a feat, and that feat is one that would normally have an effect lasting multiple rounds, would the effect in game only last one round, or would it carry on as normal?
For instance, this came up this morning when I was wondering if I should use Improved Dirge of Doom to get a 60 foot area. It was a moot point, because Korush and Buddy were way beyond 60 feet, but it left me wondering how that would have worked. Would it only affect enemies 60 feet distant for one round, or would that 'use' of dirge of doom still act as though I had the feat until I stopped it? Or, third possibility, would I instead need to spend an AP each round to keep it going?

For those who missed it, that was just a 20, 19, 18, and 17, in that order. My dice are reallyyy f@+~ing with me now.
Edit: Just noticed the damage rolls are also 4, 3, 2, 1, though that's not nearly as spectacular.
I was just rereading some earlier rounds of this fight, and there was one where KC rolled four 1s in a row.
I think Eben might accidentally be telling the truth with the whole 'we stole your luck' thing.

Are the bats close enough to the ground that Tanith can attack them?

In reality, I don't really know how mount horses work (I like to interpret them on the more magic-y side, personally, but I don't know that that's RAW), but Tanith didn't have the movement free to try to spook the horse anyways. :P
If there's a tactical reason to want the horse gone, I'll reconsider, of course.
Oh, I just remembered something that just happened.

It's not super important. The idea was to just to get the horse out of the way.
