"I suppose this will do." the effete man says as he brushes the excess snuff from his gloved hands.
{Well I suppose now would be a good time to triple check skills and gear et al. Thanks for letting me in. }

Hiya Players!
What do you think? Should I build Aliases for the different major NPCs here?
On the one hand, I don't want to hog all of the real-estate in the thread. On the other, it might help you track what the characters are saying & doing, possibly even contributing to immersion in the story.
Go ahead and jump into the gameplay whenever/however you like. We should hear from two more shortly.

Questions about The friend of the family trait.
Friend of the Family:As long as Koya remains alive, you gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks, and Perception becomes a class skill for you. In addition, you gain a +1 trait bonus on all attack rolls against foes that threaten Koya.
First does the +1 to attack apply to beasts/demons/telemarketers that I summon to attack things/people threatening Koya? Or does Alfonso have to directly attack?
Second. Does Perception cease to be a class skill if she dies? So a net loss of 4 perception (class+bonus) if when she enters that undiscovered country, from whose bourn no traveler returns? Well not many anyway raise dead is pricy.

I say yes to the to the aliases. It helps keep who said what straight. But it is not a huge deal either way.

And more questions from the Fop
... In tattoo form, the familiar looks like a stylized version of itself, but does not count as a creature separate from the tattooed sorcerer. In tattoo form it continues to grant its special familiar ability, but otherwise has no abilities...
Does our hero have access to awareness when the raven is in ink form?
Prefer yes but can live with no.
ouisky |
Alfonso:
awareness is its special familiar ability I take it?
Only you get the +1 to attack bonus from your trait. You only get your trait bonuses so long as Koya stays alive. You made a promise to the dead woman:
If her daughter Koya ever went on a long trip, you would go with her to ensure her safety.
You have to try and keep that promise. If Koya dies, but you did your best to keep her alive and protect her, I'll work with you on a DM boon lessen the skill loss. Same goes for other players with conditional traits set up.
Aliases:
I have a sample alias attached to my profile here. ".Ameiko" if you want to check it out.

That is a good question. Awareness is granted by all familiars while a Raven grants +3 to Appraise, just as a toad adds to HP.
Oops. Never mind, the Appraise bonus is specifically called out as the famailiar's "Special Ability". looks like the bird has to exist to grant Awareness. Makes sense.

Up to you whether you are staying in the Rusty Dragon or elsewhere.
Just be sure to make it by this morning, or you'll probably miss the boat.
Ameiko was an adventurer, and I imagine Shadow and Fergus are both trained.
I expect Fergus could be around the yard of the tavern, or in the stables.
Alrighty, have a good Easter Weekend everyone.

I are here. Today has been a hectic day. Currently on the return trip home from vacation. But by Monday I shall be a regular active member.
Just have to fix one thing, forgot to give Shadow some tricks.
I hope to enjoy a long and prosperous game with you all.
One of my other DM's uses different Aliases for NPC's and it makes it a lot easier to find certain quotes or tidbits of info.
Lou_Kasuri |

well now as we prepare for this we should get ourselves (character wise) aquainted and figure out any affiliations.
So to start...
Lou and his family have been long time residents of Sandpoint. Lou, and his sister were born and raised here.
the Kasuri Family has a small farm not far from town which doubles as a DoJo where Lou's father Yuto teaches Quain martial arts to select students.
Lou is the chef of the Rusty Dragon, if anyone frequents the place and has any association with Amieko, then Lou is a familiar face here.
lets not all be regulars at the dragon and act like we have never met before.
now some facts about Lou and the Kasuri's
the Kasuri's and the Kaijitsu did not get along very well, in actuality it was mostly Yuto and Lonjiku that really had the dispute. but nobody really knew why.
Lou has a crush on Amieko which infuriates his father.
Noro, Lou's sister was a troublemaker. she ended up being disowned by the Kasuri family and she went off to who knows where. she was one of the "hero's of Sandpont" not too long ago actually.
Lou is a sketch artist as well as a chef he always has his sketchbook handy and can be seen often sitting somewhere drawing what he sees.
Laurentii |
@All: Laurentii spent almost all his life in Magnimar locked up in a library or in various shops across the city. He has only gotten out of the city twice: a year ago to visit the glasswork factory and now, to meet with Ameiko. When he last came to Sandpoint, he was quite focused and mostly only interested by the process of glass making and the Kajitsu family. If he met any of the characters, he most likely does not remember them.
Shalewen |
Based on everyone's backstory, I doubt Shalewen would have much of a relationship with anyone though she would be especially weary of Laurentii and Lou because of their fascination with Ameiko. Ameiko has been like an older sister to the hunter and is thus an important person. She will have watched and followed both silently and stealthily at some point to see who they are and what they do but would not approach.
Lou_Kasuri |
pretty easy to know what Lou does.
He is the chef at the Dragon.
also there is no way you could not have interactions with him.
last post you were practicing archery outside the dragon, Lou is there, he makes the breakfast, he helps serve the food, he cleans the kitchen and the bar. one cannot frequent the place and not know him.
Shalewen |
Ah. Forgot about that. You also underestimate her sneakiness. She times her shots with your knife as you chop vegetables so you never hear them and every time you exit to throw out waste or anything else all you see is Shadow who has warned her in advance. Boom.
No but really. With the bad blood between your family and Ameiko's she is likely not to say much. In fact, Noro is probably the only one she could be considered "friends" with and might have changed her mind from open caution to silent acceptance of Lou. But with both their personalities being introverted it is doubtful they have gotten very far.
ouisky |
Awe c'mon.
Lets get along. The way I see it, in spite of any bad blood, ameiko considers Lou a valuable member of her staff. Just like:
-Bethana the halfling barmaid who serves perfect pints. every. time.
-Farin the stable boy who likes to fall asleep in the hay
-Stens, the quiet old man who acts as a custodian and sometimes busboy/waiter/barback
Ameiko seems pretty open-minded. (As I suppose most bards would be.)

you ain't considered Noro's friend till she gives ya a black eye, or a bloody lip.
(She is a brutal pugilist barbarian)

Okay, everyone feel free to read each of these.
We'll get new rumors from Alfonso and Sir Trig when they show back up.
Shalewen |
Since I am stupidly heading off for a fight and likely to die I thought I should ask. What do I do for second level hp. Animal Companions get 2 HD.
ouisky |
Sorry Real life attack. 1d8
Metro, bobo, dodo
Lets beef him up for 2 HD
I'm going to run this a little different. Roll or take the average (little more than average, actually) per pfs.
If you roll a 1, reroll.
You can choose between either for each level, unless you are building a new PC.
Shalewen |
I do not trust the dice roller for important matters so I will take half +1 as per pfs. Its what I assumed anyway after 1st level so his current hp reflects that.
Alfonso |
We are going to be hurting for healing/divine oomph.
The bard has the cure track on their list at least and Alfonso has Fiendish Healing so wands will not be a problem... but we will have zero combat healing.
Oh well, self correcting problem. Once a couple of us are hacked to bits I expect we will get a cleric/oracle/healing alchemist or suchlike.
Boss: Are all Paizo spells available or are you limiting the books we have access to or perhaps banning some spells?
Are you banning the Blood Money feat?
Leadership?
Antagonize?
ouisky |
Hmm I may have to review and get back to you.
Leadership will be acceptable so long as it fits in with your tale.
It's just the way of things that clerics and other divines often get overlooked.
Thats why we have our friend Koya, a few tweaks to the campaign, and plenty of time.
Healing I can help with. Oomp-pah-pah is another matter, though.
Laurentii |
Combat healing at low levels should not be a problem, Laurentii will always have his buckler hand free, meaning that he can carry a wand of cure *** wounds at all time. I think that past level 7 things might get a little harder, but by then our paladin should have enought healing to boost the others (and maybe Shalewen too).

cavalier, omae. Don't think Trig said anything about dipping pally.
Shalewen |
So I thought animal companions could at least have light barding and bought some for Shadow. I was wrong. So I refunded that and now I am adding a masterwork survival kit if that is okay?
Alfonso |
As we are apparently discussing gear in the main thread I thought it might be useful to open up the discussion here.
Healer's kits are likely a waste of cash as there is no one in the party who could reliably hit the dc20 needed to treat deadly wounds. Even with the kit's +2 hitting the dc15 to simply stabilize is likely beyond any but Shalewen. The 50g for the kit would be far better spent on 2 doses of Troll Styptic assuming it exists or on 2 potions of Stabilize.
At least that is my 2c
EDIT: Given the lack of magic in this party I am rather tempted to boot Alfonso and bring in an oracle. You can get by with out Arcane but getting by w/o Divine is much harder.
trux |
fine on the barding change.
As for troll styptic: uncommonly available in Magnimar, but not for sale here in Sandpoint.
If you want it, you'll need to take it from your starting gold.
Later on you'll have to send for it (from a major city) if you want any.
Alfonso |
And I misread the Troll styptic. Never mind.
Boss does Harpy musk exist? We are hunting Goblins after all.
and in case this got lost...
Boss: Are all Paizo spells available or are you limiting the books we have access to or perhaps banning some spells?
Are you banning the Blood Money feat?
Leadership?
Antagonize?
Everything in UM?
Mind you most of these will not matter for some time. But if you would cast a kind eye over the first level sorcerer spells and let me know if any fail the smell test it will be appreciated.

Boss does Harpy musk exist? We are hunting Goblins after all.
Let me determine the DC on crafting for availability in the stores. It will exist and be available via starting gold, but *perhaps* not common in Sandpoint shops.
I'm basing this off of how hard it is to craft these items. Since it's in the Runelord Player's Guide, it certainly exists in Varisia.
Alfonso |
Holy crap that stuff is nice. Perfect for a trap.
It is also an excellent thrown weapon. One standard action for 10 rounds of crowd control. A bargain at 2gp a shot. Mind you it is only effective on Goblins not all goblinoids so use drops off rapidly after lvl 2 or so.
ouisky |
Alfonso, Trig, I'm still working on your rumors.
Alfonso, we'll give you access to UM content contingent on approval, as I do not own it and have not read it in full.
Antagonize seems perfectly in keeping with your character, and we should all look forward to seeing you put it to good use.
I assume you mean the Blood Money spell? If it's actually a feat, just slide me a link, will you? -It should be fine so long as you show me your accounting for each of your uses of it.
I thought I mentioned this, but leadership is available. I expect you all to work with me on the details if you should take it.
ouisky |
Rumors within. Again, all players are welcome to read all the rumors.
There could be millions upon millions of gold coins at stake, and an untold fortune of magical artifacts, too.
