Carefully, Relas sidesteps around the shifting monstrosity again, placing it between himself and Felicia. "Now we've got you, you nasty mind-poker!" he cries before unleashing another flurry of attacks.

He feels one of his paws slam home against it, but they still don't seem to do as much damage as he knows he is capable of. "Palo, it doesn't seem like we're getting anywhere! Is it mending itself or something?"

"Okay, new plan - you guys hold it off and I'll go try to find the others!" Palomia calls back. "I'll hurry right back, I promise!" Turning, she hurries off down the corridor in the last direction she saw the rest of the group traveling. She jogs back through the first set of doors but then stops, realizing that there are three different directions they could have traveled in from this center hub.

"HEY! HEY WE NEED SOME HELP BACK HERE! FELICIA AND RELAS HAVE IT OCCUPIED BUT WE CAN'T SEEM TO KILL IT, WHATEVER IT IS!" she yells at the top of her voice.

I'm pretty sure I heard Askra screaming earlier, so there's no point in being stealthy now is there? Though...I hope that wasn't a 'help I'm being devoured scream'...

"I can do this ALL DAY you know!" Gwyndle calls out, tossing out yet another bolt of arcane power.

Felicia, Gwyndle, and Relas attack the creature fro all sides, finally slaying it.

The creature falls, and the images around it fade away revealing a bulbous tentacled creature with purple rubbery legs and a vertical mouth. In a flash of bright white Relas, Palomia, Felicia, and Gwyndle’s minds flare. The light dissipates into darkness and in their mind's eye they begin to see a dark sky full of bright stars...

Vision:

Each adventurer opens their eyes and becomes the creature they just killed, with a body of tentacles and strange organs. They’re familiar with the body, and in an instant they have many memories of their creation, and life, and accumulation of knowledge. Thier name mean ‘fractal’ in their common tongue. They feel their mind racing, studying the stars, and communicating telepathically with others like them. They debate and conjecture, and feel pleasurable emotions of learning new things with a burning passion humans would consider love.

They’re looking in the sky and a massive metal behemoth descends. It blocks out the stars with it’s bulk, and it’s glowing blue rings pulsate throughout the land. It’s not living, but it must have been created. You and all your kind link minds, it is understood almost immediately.

A vessel, carrying life, descending from the stars. What purpose? To explore? To study? To make peace? Yes. WAIT Something is wrong. Yes, it’s damage is not intentional. The vessel is damaged. Feel their minds The vessel softly thuds on the rock, landing. Creatures scurry out, their bodies adored by some shiny things. Feel their minds. What is wrong? What is wrong? Thier heads are... unwell. What has befallen them. Peace? No. Escape. Escape! I’M curious.

Fractal. Fractal! I CANNOT.

In their minds the adventures feel themselves carried away, a bulk ascends to the stars, and you with them. Your home rock fads into the distance quickly, your mind unlinked. Thunder claps, sirens ring. You feel the panic of other creatures nearby. Death and murder by creatures that don’t have mind’s to link to. An earth rending roar, and a million nights of sleep.

The Vegepygmy leader looks up at Askra with it's head cocked to the side.
Leader perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Then the Leader looks up as he catches a noise. He sees a small cylinder with a red light pointing at him. He looks at Askra again, and continues to tap and tick.

EXITING COMBAT act as you please. Perception for treasure, Kn check on rooms/items, move, etc.

As Palomia mentally debates on which direction to go, she's caught off-guard as her mind suddenly seems to expand, filled with a vision of things that lie on the other side of the sky, of another place and anothers' life. When the vision fades, she's surprised to find herself kneeling on the floor, trembling. "Wha...what in the devil?" she whispered, shakily getting to her feet once more. Feeling a wetness on her face, she touches it and then examines her fingers. Not blood, but water. No, not water...

Am I...crying? Wh...why am I crying?

Feeling an odd sense of both sadness and loneliness, she glances back in the direction that she came from and strains her ears, listening for the sounds of the battle that she had just departed from.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Unable to hear anything distinct from the other side of the doors, she hesitates, wondering if she should continue looking for the rest of the group or if she should return to Relas and the others. "Feck this," she mutters finally. "I can't stand around navel-gazing while the others might be in trouble!" Theorizing that they had already came from the western corridor and that they had already explored part of the northern area, she turns and heads through the southern set of doors. "Hello? Ladim? Askra? BoB?"

As the strange vision fades, Relas blinks, surprised to suddenly be back in his own body. Staring down at the strange creature they have just defeated, he looks at it curiously. "So...it came from the stars? But not of its own free will. The people that made this ship stole it away from its home...and it was alone all this time." Relas' features twitch in what might be an expression of pity. "Maybe it was a good thing we killed it, then. It must have gone mad after all this time by itself."

Lifting his gaze from the creature's body, he looks around the room curiously and then back at Felicia and Gwyndle. "I guess Palo will be back with the others in a minute. Let's look around and see if we can find anything useful in here in the meantime...though you two might know more about these things than me. I know! I'll guard the doors while you two have a look around." Padding over to the doors, Relas watches and listens for any signs or sounds of movement, whether those of his friends or anything else.

"I'll be fine, love. Ah. Do you know what's going on with this guy now? I stopped trying to make sense of it. Should we call in the others? It seems that they managed to take care of whatever's there.", Ladim mutters, leaning on the wall, leaving a bloody stain where he does so. "I wouldn't mind getting to that healing machine, to be fair, too. I hear seeing your spleen's bad."

Assuming Askra tells him about the red-lighted cylinder on the wall, Ladim will take a look at it, Knowledge(Engineering): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 And then say he's not in the mood for tech stuff.


Male Gnome

"Aha!"

The moment of triumph does not last long, as Gwyndle reels from the psychic backlash. He stumbles backward, just barely keeping his balance, and his eyes become wide saucers. But they were not the eyes that were seeing. The gnome looks down at his tentacles (No, hands, hands!) frantically, but somehow it seemed natural for them to be there. He looks to the heavens - oh, how he loved to stargaze! - and all the joy and love and comfort give way to something terrible. Before the vision could drive him mad, he shuts his eyes; by the time he opens them again, things are back to normal.

"What the...?" he mumbles, staggering toward Felicia and Relas and "it." What was that? He looks down at the creature they had slain (which didn't look like his folks much at all anymore), expecting to feel disgust, but instead feeling pity. "Well that was uh, something else. Back to business then!"

Not entirely certain that he isn't going completely mad, he takes a look around the room, humming to himself and trying to think happy thoughts.

Askra hears Palomia's call, and screws her face up in consternation. Keeping an eye on the mah-sheen on the ceiling of the...cavern...ship, she cups a hand to throw her voice, and, without any consideration for stealth, bellows at the top of her lungs.

"UM, WE HAVE A... SITUATION HERE TOO!"

She smiles sweetly at the plant-man, before placing a steadying arm around Ladim.

"Let's make sure we know what these rooty-things want, before turning our backs on 'em." The Kellid thinks for a moment before adding.

"And Ladim. Don't get any ideas. You're not my type. I don't even think I...have...a type. But if I did...it wouldn't be you. Still. [here flashes winning grin, that fades from the eyes as she finishes] " I like you. You're brave. And funny. Kaad would've hated you."

At the call for help BoB moves to meet the other group showing up to find the monster defeated.

"BoB heard you were in trouble. Do you need assistance?"

He stands looking to Gwyndle and Felicia.

"We found small creatrues. Ladim says they surrendered. Would you like to go see them?"

Ladim laughs at Askra's response and nods, "Oh, it's alright. It's only feelings. They'll heal.", grinning back with blood-stained teeth. "I was just being a tease, I'd hate to lose my momentum. But let's not get touchy feely now," he mutters, leaning closer, "the others might get suspicious.", he says in a conspirative tone, before standing up straight and continues keeping a watch on the vegepygmies.

Despite the content of the message, Palomia perks up as she hears Askra call back to her and hurries toward the sound of her voice. "A situation? It can't be any stranger than what we found on the other side of that-WHOA!"

As she rounds the corner, she can see Askra and Ladim just ahead through another set of open doors...however, barring her way stands a strange little plant man and she can see at least one other beyond the doorway as well. Skidding to a halt, she puts her hands up in a defensive posture. "Easy now..." she says, attempting to keep her voice calm. "What is going on?" she hisses at her two companions.

Going total defense, hehe...

As Relas sits and guards the door, his ears pick up the sound of footsteps heading their way. He tenses for a moment and then relaxes again as he sees BoB come around the corner. "Hey BoB! We were sort of in trouble earlier, but I guess you can see that we took care of it." He glances over his shoulder at Felicia and Gwyndle. "Small creatures? Okay, I'm curious. And I guess it's time for us to regroup anyway, once they finish looking around this room."

Felicia collapses sobbing. "The same thing... I had the same dream last night, except it was me. I agreed to go with them. A million nights? Have I really been asleep so long?"

After a moment she stands and composes herself. "No use sitting here... maybe I can at least get off the ship."

After a cursory look about the room, she follows the others out. "Thank you BoB. C'mon ya big lugnut."

ill be posting from my phone, please excuse brevity and typos. I'm not as skilled as Ladim!

Relas searches around the room where the tentacles creature died. Lots of strange tech lies around, much of it taken apart or in disrepair. The walls are full of drawings of a wide sky from the floor to the ceiling in various colors. The drawing and writing becomes more erratic as it approaches the ceiling. Relas finds a small jar with five tiny white and blue pills. Gwyndle takes and look to find that it is actually a vial of five doses of Hemochem, Grade II! Relas also finds two timeworn flareguns, which Gwyndle identifies.

The short Vege leader looks up a Palomia, and mimics her gestures and sounds with taps. Then slowly points to some poorly drawn squiggles.

Satisfied that the little plant-man isn't going to attack her, Palomia relaxes somewhat and eyes the squiggles with curiosity. "Squiggles? No, drawings...he wants to tell us something? Let me have a closer look at them..." Carefully, she moves closer to where the crude squiggles are drawn and kneels down to examine them more closely. As she studies them she relaxes, her heartbeat slowing...this is her element, the role of interpreter.

"This is some pretty strong medicine," Gwyndle remarks as he follows after Felicia. He haphazardly tosses the bottle up and down in his hand, the pills within rattling with each toss. He raises an eyebrow when he sees the vegepygmy. That tentacled thing was weirder, but yeesh.

Can anyone make that K (geography) check from earlier?

Ladim notices the others coming around, and sees Felicia's redded eyes. Limping closer to her, studying the others along the way, he puts his hand on her shoulder. "You alright, love? Everything okay?", with a concerned face.

Hearing Gwyndle mention medicine, Ladim leans over the gnome, saying, "Did I hear something about medicine? And strong one? Hopefully numbing the pain and letting me see pretty colours? Would you let me borrow one, I'll give it back. Some day.", asks Ladim, his hand shivering as he raises it in the direction of the sparkly gnome.

Popping one in his mouth, he sits down, saying to Gwyndle, "Sparky, there's a red-light thing on the wall. I know you know a thing or two about teck, so you check it out, while I... meditate for a bit. Yeah." Sliding down the wall heavily, Ladim leaves blood trails on the wall behind him. Looking at them, he sighs, "Why does it always happen to the good guys...", forcing a pained wink at everyone looking at him at that point.

Palomia studies the markings. She realizes that the leader is asking for guidance to a location outside of the ship and deep into some caverns. It appears to be lost.

"Yeah, I can take a look. Just as long as it doesn't zap me in the face or something," Gwyndle replies, moving to look at the device.

@Gwyndle - Alas, Palo doesn't have either of the relevant Knowledge skills so while she knows what he wants, where he actually wants to go is still a mystery.

"Hey...I think he wants an escort? Looks like he wants to go back out of this ship and into the caverns somewhere; I don't think him and his friends meant to wander in here," Palomia says as she glances back up at the others. "What do we want to do? Aren't we on a bit of a time crunch here regarding the whole ship is going to blow up issue?"

Ladim scratches his stubble, looking up. "You know what? What if we guide these guys alongside us. We can use them when we attack the androids, and after we disable the bomb, just guide them back. We can't tell them where we're going first, firstly, because we can't. It's not the nicest thing I've done, but when you look at it this way, they'll all die if we don't disable the bomb."

He looks around the room, looking for support. "I'll be ready for action in about a minute, so, unless you have a way of telling them to wait for us, they gotta be coming."

"Why the heck not, we're already playing charades with them," Gywndle replies as he inspects the device, rolling his eyes. "Maybe we can impress the gravity of the situation upon them with interpretive song and dance." He shakes his head. "I'm not about to trick them into going on a suicide mission. Because let's face it - if two of you were enough to make them surrender, I don't like their chances against that android witch."

"They're not going anywhere. They've already been here gods know how long."

Ladim leans on the wall, putting a hand to his bruise, and winces. It's getting better. He then sighs and replies to Gwyndle, "Well, if I knew there was someone about to blow up an entire bloody town and another crew tried to stop them, I'd sure as hell join the second one. As I did, about two hours ago, to be fair. But, I agree, they're not the best and brightest." Wiping his bloody hand on his trousers, he turns to Palomia and says, "Palo, hen, can you tell the our green mate to wait for us here for, say, couple of hours? You seem to be able to talk to him. Or just draw something. We're not volunteering them to a mission, I guess, but I'd hate for them to ambush us again in the future. It's really bad for our reputation."

He then rolls himself another cigarette, I bloody well deserve it. I hope he doesn't think I'm smoking his family or some s!+@. lighting it up with his finger once more.

Ready to move. I wasn't trying to get meat shields, I was trying to get more people to assist us. If I could talk to them, I'd say the same thing.

Palomia shrugs. "Okay, sounds good to me. I'll see what I can do. If they understand and want to come help, I don't see any reason to try and stop them but I won't exactly shed any tears if they'd rather wait here."

Turning back to the little plant-man leader, she kneels down and thinks for a moment before she begins to scrawl some drawings of her own onto the floor. First, they depict the town of Torch with the caverns and the large ship buried underneath. Next, a scary-looking stick figure woman with faceless helpers enter the ship. The third depicts the ship, caverns, and the town above exploding while the scary woman gleefully looks on. Here, Palomia pauses and looks up at the leader to make sure he's hopefully following along before she continues with a second set of drawings under the first.

This second set depicts stick figure versions of herself and the others running through the ship after the scary woman and her cronies and then engaging them in battle. The next drawings depict the group triumphant over the scary woman, with both the people in the town above as well as the vegepygmies happy and alive. Finally, the last drawing shows the group leading the vegepygmies outside of the ship to the caverns.

Her drawings finished, Palomia looks up at the leader hopefully.

Here, she hesitates again, looking uncertain before adding two more drawings - one that depicts the vegepygmies fighting with them against the scary woman and another that shows them waiting and hiding patiently. She looks back at the leader and gives him a shrug as well as a questioning look.

Okay, so Palo is certainly not an artist. Those are some pretty janky-looking drawings, haha.

Ladim looks at Palomia, his cigarette hanging from his lower lip of his open mouth, looking at the painting taking roughly half the corridor, eyes wide open and eyebrow raised. "Well... That's certaintly going to... have some effect, Palo.", he says after a short while.

the cylinders on the ceiling are a type of visual monitoring device. Someone is either watching you from afar or you are being recorded for later study.

The Vegepygmy looks at Palo, slowly nodding. He inspects the hasty drawing, tilting his head several time. He look at Askea as she offers him her hammer. Then at the others. +5 circumstantial bonus

The leader takes up his hammer and smashes it against the stick figure of the scary woman. He then holds it in his hands and nods. Tapping and clicking, he gestures to the smaller vegepygmy who scurries off to the other room and hides.

Gwyndle takes a sudden step back when he realizes what it is he has been looking at. "Whoa guys, hold up. This thing here's been watching us... or rather, uh, somebody has been using it to watch us. Ladim looks at the injured vegepygmy and, turning to Gwyndle, says, "See? Told you he'd volunteer. Do you mind if we give him one of the healing injections? No use having him injured around, and if we bring him alive, the tribe probably wouldn't attack us.", staring at the gnome.

Looking at the vegepygmy, he points to the vial, pretends to inject himself with it, and points to his almost fully healed injuries.

Looking at the device, he says, "If BoB gives me a lift, I can try and disable it. Or just make it stuck with my ugly mug looking at it."

Male Gnome

"I dunno, would these pills even work on these guys?" the gnome says, looking on the side of bottle, as though he were expecting a wealth of useful pharmacological information. "I mean, I'm no genius, but 'hemo' means blood, and these guys look more like plants than anything."

Not objecting to giving him one, just having Gwyndle refer to his past check to see if it'd even work.

"But, uh, right. Ship. Bomb. Elevator. We got our mean green, so we can get moving now."

After miming to the Vegepygmy, Ladim and Gwyndle give him a dose of Hemochem. He inspects it, and promptly ingests it. After shuttering a bit, his plant wounds begin to heal.

Ladim successfully disables the viewing device. A moment later the metal caverns rumble like an earthquake.

She decides to sniff and poke around the room for any valuables and such, then heads back toward Khonnir.

"What. Is that.", says Ladim, grabbing a hold of BoB, as he realizes grabbing Askra isn't the best decision in a while. Knowledge(Engineering): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

I'm sorry for the shorter posts recently, been a bit tied up at work.

*sigh* We did notice, BoB-boy..., he thinks as the bot makes his statement, but doesn't voice it out. "Think we should leg out? It's not going to get any better with time!", he shouts, as he begins consulting the map for directions to the bridge.

"Right, let's grab Khonnir and go," Gwyndle says with a grimace, having nearly lost his balance.

Felicia looks around the hallway and sees nothing of interest. In the room the Vegepygmy leader emerged [C8] Felicia smells decaying vegitation and slimy vones covering Androffan computer monitors and tanks of bubbling water. Atop a desk sits a seat of vines and a panel that has been manipulated to some extent.

In the room south west [C6] she sees mold covering the ground and all of the surfaces and workstations present. It smells putrid and the whole room is dank. Several doors line the southern wall with mold encrusted over them.

To the south east [C7] the room is full of vegitation and life, and smells a much better. There are bright panels of warm light at the tall ceiling and flowers and leaves bloom all around the dense jungle of the room. A pale mist or vapor dims the light, and every now and then some vines appear to move. Felicia can smell the smaller Vegepygmys in this room.

Nothing of value is immediately apparent.

Ladim:

A tremble of that size can likely mean only two things: The engines to the ship are firing, or the reactor is going critical.

The tremor abruptly comes to an end and Ladim and Felicia head back towards Khonnir and the elevator. Khonnir, Jean, and Fijit, emerge from the Medical room. Khonnir is holding a metal trapezoid with glowing green lights.

"Is the floor clear? We have to move NOW. Everyone to the lift! Jean, Fijit, you two head back to the security mainframe, try and stop that b@$** from shutting us out. And keep her eyes off of us.

Jean and Fijit head past the others and back to the security room. Ladim then takes out a vial of pills. He carefully and quickly offers them to everyone in the party.

Everyone. There is an invisible danger up near the reactor that Ladim or Gwydle might be able to explain to you. It's called radiation, and its like an invisible poison. These pills are a very specialized version of a drug called Cureall. It's very powerful, but also dangerous, do not take it until I specifically tell you too. Is that understood?

Khonnir waits for everyone to take a pill, and gather inside the elevator.

@EVERYONE please catch up to this point and we'll move to the next level!

Sorry for the delay, have been tired/busy/etc. the past day or two...but ANYHOO, back to business!

Palomia gives Ladim a triumphant look as the vegepygmy leader makes very apparent his desire to tag along and help. "Damn right it had an effect! The little guy is brave, I'll give him that," she exclaims as she gets to her feet and dusts herself off. "Good job with the peace offering too Askra; he seems pretty happy to have his weapon back. Can't say I blame him, considering the situation," she adds, gesturing to the room, and the ship, at large.

When Gwyndle mentions the strange red device being used to watch them all, she looks up in alarm. "Like some sort of...strange scrying device? It's probably that woman-thing that Khonnir warned us about! We certainly need to turn it off or break it, somehow. Can whoever is on the other end hear us too?" she chatters as Ladim inspects the device and shuts it off. As soon as the rumbling starts she gasps and staggers, flailing her arms wildly for a moment until the rumbling ceases.

"What. was. that!?!?" she hisses. "Wait, no, I probably don't want to know. But you two are right, it isn't good, at least not for us. We'd better go!" she nods as the group moves to reconvene with Khonnir and the others. She raises an eyebrow as Khonnir explains the situation and offers everyone a strange pill. "Invisible poison? Sure, why not? It seems like anything is possible inside this ship," she sighs as she takes the offered pill and moves to stand inside the elevator.

Relas gives the vegepygmy leader a curious look as everyone begins to gather their things and move back towards Khonnir and the elevator. "I'm glad he wants to help, but he's got tiny plant-person legs - he won't be able to keep up if we have to move fast," he muses aloud to no one in particular. After a moment, he hunches as low to the ground as he can and nods to the leader and then nods towards his back, offering him a lift if he wants it. Once that matter is settled, Relas turns and pads off towards the elevator behind the others.

"I guess I need to take one of those too," he nods at Khonnir's offer of a Cureall pill, "but that's a little difficult without hands. Palo, can you take one for me too? Our new friend here shouldn't have any problems at least, providing you can get him to understand when to take it."

After the ship shivers, Ladim sees Khonnir appear and grabs one of the pills, putting it in his pocket. "I thought you didn't like swearing, Khonnir. Is it do as I say, not as I do with you?" he grins at the wizard. "But yeah, either this thing is trying to fly away, or is going to explode soon. Whatever the reason, we need to leg out." Once in the elevator, he leans on the wall and asks, "What's that weird thingamagig?", pointing at the glowing trapezoid, "I didn't really pay that much attention in your lectures, every eighth word or so.", giving another smile.

As Relas offers a ride to the vegepygmy, Ladim says in a theatrically offended tone, "What about me? I got tiny man-person legs, want to give me a lift?" crossing his arms at the panther.
