The two charfiends in the tower were shot and killed, but two more took there place a couple of rounds ago:

Round 4, bad guys

Like humanoid spiders, several more charfiends scuttle and crawl from deeper in the camp, emitting their loud, breathy hissing. Their chorus grows in volume as they spill out from the tent row, spreading out to re-man the sentry tower and to investigate the new hole in the wall. Two of them scale the tower as easily as an arachnid climbs its web.

I haven't yet, no. When I re-asked you all I only got one response. I suppose that means 1 vote for 'yes' and zero for 'no'.

Roland, just Roland wrote:

It is more sturdy than the walls, but not beyond the party's abilities. It is supported by 4 round poles, each 6" in diameter. With hardness of 5 and 10 HP/inch, that is 60 HP of wood to destroy one supporting pole. The tower will likely collapse if one of the poles is destroyed.

@Party who has the CMW potion, please?

For what it's worth (which is maybe nothing in the heat of combat) I will say that an axe can lower the wood's hardness to 2, as that was what it was designed for.

Holy lord Aku, you're freaking attacking the SOUTH tower!!! Those guys have been busy with something else while the charfiends are attacking us!

I'm moving towards the same tower the wizard is going to, but I think we should attack the NORTH tower which has the charfiends, instead of south which has the archers, in case that was not clear.

I'm ok with selling all the items aside from whatever you want. I also don't think Roland will use the potion, since in the round I would take it there someone else I could be killing, you know. Catcher would probably benefit more from it, but if she is not taking it I will.

I also think we should keep the horses and the spur for the dwarf, since he's probably worse at riding than me.

Question for the GM. Can you outline the specifics of the demigod who is responsible for the rings? I'm considering a dip in a divine class and was tossing around the idea of devoting to him, but obviously there's no information on him for such an effort. Domains, favored weapon, etc?

Catcher,
Nice roll! 10 HP is badass.

Gromff,

Tactical Map

Adakos:

Some of this you can hear from the party, some you know from common history, and some you can learn from Littledragon -- Battleborn's only priest.

The demi-god associated with your magic rings is Gengis Battleborn. He was a mortal man. He was an archmage of epic proportions who had a huge role in the formation of the cultures of the western realm. He founded the 'Jewel of the West', Mylosis, as his capital city. It stood as a bastion of freedom for several centuries -- it promoted free trade, free learning, strength against tyranny and monstrous incursions, and it spread these semi-tangible ideals for hundreds of miles around. (The age of the city and its founder were the subject of many a rumor. He was clearly human but somehow extended his life for 300+ years -- long enough to see his city stand for at least that long.)

About 100 years ago some troubles erupted in his great city, in the form of randomly appearing gates to hell and other planes of existence. These gates soon formed a tear in the world which became a permanent portal to the 7th layer of hell. It was at this time that Battleborn mysteriously and suddenly disappeared.

Many people, in particular the Silvermane, spoke out against Battleborn for his "timely" departure, convincing the masses that he had abandoned them to their fate. Many believed the harsh words. As the armies of sin continued to pour into this world, much of the land was swallowed in a darkness that eclipsed the world Battleborn had tried to hard to forge.

What few knew was that Battleborn saw the writing on the wall and knew that he needed power greater than his own to fix the damage done to the realm and to the world itself. His disappearance was in fact his journey through many planes of existence, other worlds and more. He learned not only of the rift at Mylosis, but that the 7th layer's Lord Ultruu was seeking godhood. This changed Battleborn's plans from a frantic search for allies to a search for knowledge and wisdom -- specifically about what it takes for a mortal to attain godhood.

In a weird sort of irony, it was Ultruu's ascension that facilitated Battleborn's own. The universe strives for balance in all things, even amongst the gods. When the lawful evil hellish fiend Ultruu began his ascent, so did the chaotic good entity formerly known at Gengis Battleborn.

In life, he had several familiars, but his favorite was his first - a brown and green scaled viper. He was also a renown dragonslayer, which put him at odds with even the good dragons who otherwise might have been a staunch ally.

His domains would be: Chaos, Good, Knowledge, Liberation, Magic

Favored Weapon: Scorpion Whip. (it is symbolic of his Viper's attack)

If it is okay with you all, I propose that we suspend the 1-post-per-day rule until Monday the 27th. This will give everyone time to think about your level up, your character choices, and any changes you'd like to make.

If any of you want to retrain any feats or make any other significant changes, please mention them in this thread or PM me.

By all means you may continue to post in the gameplay thread with RP and discussion, but I wanted to give everyone the time to think their choices through before proceeding. (Also I have super busy Thursday and Friday evenings this week, so getting up solid GM posts will be difficult.)

At first I didn't really like the Stonelord. Defensive Stance sucks for this game since I have to move a lot and it is easy to get around with a compulsion spell or bluff apparently and Stonebane is both useless and odd since he is becoming stone and drawing strength from it. But that is level 12 I think. I lose all casting though so I can't use activated magic items, scrolls, or even heal. I am a tank. I really powerful tank.

But the more I read the more I realize it is the most on par with the original idea that brought Gromff into being. I used to write character snippets as notes on facebook and sent them to friends who also played. In the note he is actually struck by lightning, underground, in the middle of the fight, and turns into a living statue of stone, lightning and fury that blew all the enemies away with a massive hammer. The fact that the stonelord is built to stand his ground and actually starts turning into stone in later levels means it is the closest archetype to the original character.

But he is no longer the original character. I am not having an issue with keeping up with everything so much as being able to use it all in a fight. It takes a lot of preparation to buff up. That and I am the only healer now without Miro. So I won't change until the other cleric shows up, if they do.

Tactical Map

Speaking of the other cleric... I haven't received any kind of response whatsoever. The person remains very active on the forums, so I'm not sure if he/she is ignoring the PM or just didn't notice it.

No problem, Boss!

I'm happy enough with Roland the way he is, although his rage powers haven't been seeing much use lately, but I'm sure they will eventually.

Anyway, I've been dealing with the loot table for some time, updating it according to what we did/acquire and to the absence of Miro. This is what I've done:

- Considered the chits exchanged;
- Removed Miro (with a total of 8116 gp as his share: Dagger of Deception 4750, Hat of Disguise 900, Gold Pieces 2466.5)
- Added the price for stuff we still have to sell, but didn't sell it yet.
- Roland claimed the CMW potion.

I think we should sell the wand of Magic Weapon, since we don't really need it. Let's see if we're gonna be able to sell anything here...

I'm going to fiddle with some ideas. I really like the idea of Adakos latching onto the Battleborn ethos in light of what he has seen and experienced so far. He has to have something to cling to for sanity! :)

As a side note, I'm going to GenCon next week and will be busy preparing for the games I am running at the convention this weekend and early next week, so starting tomorrow I will probably be very absent from the boards until my return. That would put me at resuming posting on the 3rd. If there is time I will post while at the convention, but I can't promise anything.

I kinda don't like how barbarian and wizard mix together.

It would be okay if Catcher had mostly buffspells, but since she is somewhat blasty as well, entering rage and losing the ability to cast spells is a big contra, there's that option to get out of rage and be fatigued, which in either case does not help at all.

But the biggest problem is the AC reduction. I'm trying to get my AC as high as possible, and dropping two points, in my already ridiculous AC, at the moment isn't something I can do.

Bad news = I just bailed out of the other game (with Aku and Zayne). I had such high hopes for it. I love the story idea. But I simply refuse to play in a game with another player who feels the need to dictate to someone else. I hope you guys find another player soon who has more patience than I do.

There are a few guys in my geek circle of friends who we have perma-banned from our tabletop rpg nights because of behavior like that. I've endured enough of it in the past and I refuse to do it again. Hope you understand.

We don't get good gaming conventions -- at all -- in Vegas. We get every other kind of convention it seems, but not gaming. It really is a bummer. I really wish they'd do a GENCON - WEST or something like that. Or better yet, GENCON - VEGAS! We have more than adequate convention center space and plenty of lodging. I've even heard that San Diego Comic Con is considering switching to LV because their location is San Diego frankly sucks and isn't nearly big enough.

Adakos,
Hope you had a wonderful time at con!

Everyone,
I believe we have a new player coming to join the group very soon. More details coming soon.

Male Half-Elf - HP 70/70 | AC 21 | T 15 | FF 17 | CMD 22 | Fort +10 | Ref +10 | Will +9 | Init +4 | Perc +17 (+20 vs. traps) | Sense Motive +2 | Low-Light Vision | Ranger Tricks: 4/4

Heads up for everyone. I'm back from GenCon and it was a blast. However, I'm turning in my two weeks notice today at my current employer. They have a habit of immediately cutting access to the network for outgoing IT staff, which means I will likely be out of the loop in the mornings.

What this means going forward is until I am settled in my new position and have a better understanding of how much leeway I will have for posting, I will be posting now in the evenings as opposed to the mornings and during the day. I'll be catching up with my PbP games tonight and hopefully will have a bit more info then.

Thanks!

Unstopably fabulous owner of a cloak 9 | AC 23, Touch 12, FF 22 | HP 144/144 | DR 4/- | Fort +11, Ref +6, Will +9 | Init +1 | Perception +13 | Rage 23/23 | Move

Good luck on the new job!

Hi Zedth,

You might be interested in Meeplecon here in Vegas. Though they are focused on board games, they have expressed interest in volunteers willing to run table top role playing games.

@Perry Snow,

Thanks for the info, but that's not really what I'm looking for. I enjoy board games but I'm talking about a bona fide gaming convention that includes tabletop RPGs, wargames, miniatures, dice, etc... of course the growing number of wonderful board games would be welcome but the focus I'm looking for is more akin to GenCon.
