Guardians of Golarion (Inactive)

Game Master Matt Adams 259

After years apart, a once close team of heroes reunites to avenge their honor and the death of their beloved leader, Lady Sapphire.

Five years ago, you were members of an adventuring team called the Golarion Pathmasters. Sanctioned by the Pathfinders, you were part heroes, part treasure hunters, and part wanderers. Led by the Elven Swordlady Sapphire White, you had begun to make a name as one of the best upcoming adventurer groups in the land.

Your last mission together was to wipeout a cult of Asmodeus that had taken root in Magnimar. "I should also warn you," the mayor had said, "the cultists have hired their own band of adventurers called the Iron Dragons, have you heard of them?"

"No, But I'm sure we can take them," Sapphire had responded. Your job started out well. You infiltrated their headquarters without any notable incidents. As expected, the rival mercenaries were protecting the high priests and his top clerics. You had prepared for this. You set yourselves up for the big fight and opened with surprise ranged attacks, thinking an ambush would give you an early advantage. It wounded them, but it wasn't enough.

The Iron Dragons quickly took you apart, and Sapphire White was killed by the Burning Blade carried by their leader. You retreated, and your conquerors wasted no time in spreading the word of your defeat. With your leader dead and your reputation ruined, the Pathmasters fell apart.

Now you enter The Restful Sanctuary, a tavern in Claes, Andoran. After receiving a letter from one of your former teammates requesting your help, you had set out to this location. You enter and see the familiar faces of the group members who have arrived before you.

-I'm looking for 6 players. Large party here. Lots of action, hopefully.
-Start at level 3. You are experienced, but a little out of practice.
-30 point buy. No dump stats.
-All Paizo material is allowed. Run 3rd Party stuff by me.
-As you've probably guessed, this is a homebrew adventure set in the Pathfinder default world.
-All alignments are allowed. You don't all have to agree 100% but no hard PVP like killing, stealing, framing, etc. Though, if you and another player want to settle a dispute with a duel that only does non-lethal damage, I would be okay with that, but you have to make sure it's okay with the person you would be dueling first.
-Backstories are important. Since this is homebrew, I'll be taking stuff from your backstories for plot hooks.
-Of the chosen players one of them will be chosen to be the letter sender. They will get information for the first adventure to give to the party.

*Some backstory stuff to think of: What made you take up your class? How did you get accepted into the original Pathmasters group? How did you react to the death of Sapphire? Your overwhelming failure and defeat? The ruining of your reputation? What have you been doing since the break up? What made you answer the letter? Recruitment will be open until midnight April 19th Eastern Standard Time. Almost a full 8 days.

Silver Crusade

What do you consider a dump stat?, How often would you like posts?

Nothing below 10. Posting once a day would be great, but every other day is good too. I want this to go on for a while.

Would Psionic races/classes be allowed?

Yes. I'll consider them.

Thinking about a cleric of Zohls, archon Empyreal lord of Truth, Investigation, and Determination. I'll get something put together.

Dotting for interest.

To save time I have some class concepts.

Monk/Ninja. Example

Oracle/Alchemist. Example

Tower Shield Fighter. Example

I'm also quite keen to try my hand at creating 'Captain Andoran'. A fighter who specializes in throwing an 9Eventually) returning shield. With all the 'trick shot' and 'ricochet' feats I can find. :)

Thoughts? Comments?

I'm planning a Ranger or Rogue. either way, I'll eventually go Horizon Walker.

Dot. Thinking about making a gunslinger who will eventually prestige into a Low Templar if that's all right.

Being a comic book fan, something about Captain Andoran makes me very happy.

Monk/Ninja sounds good. I've played a Tower Shield Fighter before, they're good. I would have to see an Oracle/Alchemist in play though.

Silver Crusade

Looks cool, I have been wanting to play a goth halfling umbral shadow sorceror.

The Oracle/Alchemist is just a variation on the 'Oracle of life' using the Alchemist to make potions to heal the character up instead of taking Paladin to heal the character up.

Been working well so far in my home Pen and paper game. Life link to the front line fighters and then stand at the back chugging potions to keep the HP up. Occasionally throw bomb over the top to help when combat gets too close. (^_^)

Add 'Angel blooded plume-kin' Aasimar for extra fluff (And wings!) (^_^)

Still thinking hard about the best way to build a Capt A. A few ideas on the forums, but time has moved on and there are a slew of new classes and archetypes to think about.

Also, am now moving into a busy shift schedule, hence providing links to character I can simply 'clone' across into the game.

Much cheers to all.

Would absolutely love to play a variation of the character in the profile of this alias. He's a true neutral Monk/Druid bent on bringing complete balance to good and evil. Crunch wise he's a front-line damage dealer focused on taking advantage of his monk abilities while wildshaping.

DM:

Maybe being a fellow member of Valley of Shrines can give me an edge in this recruitment? lol -Lucia Moonshadow

This is the beginnings of a character in mind, a stealth based sorceror

Scarab Sages

I have here an Osirion monk, herald of Groetus, minor god of the end times and guardian of Pharasma's Boneyard, where mortal souls go to be judged after death. Azrin himself seems always driven by some hidden work of Groetus, but even most religious scholars couldn't tell you what business the god has among the living. Still, you will seldom find a more solemn or determined man in the whole of Golarion.
I need to update him to your specifications, but mechanically he'll be a standard unarmed combatant but with a 1-level dip in cleric.

Quick question: How do you feel about a CG monk?

Grand Lodge

Here is my Psion, I was thinking of having him go into the Elocater prestige class.

If you have any problems with the character, I also have an elven wizard I have been working on.

@Azrin You mean a martial artist?

Tarvelin wrote:

That was my plan, though if you're not a stickler I might drop the archetype for mechanical reasons. Of course if you're firm on monk alignment and don't want to allow the Martial Artist archetype, then well... back to the drawing board I guess.

It is fine the way it is.

Dotting with interest, I'd be interested in playing a bardic scoundrel type of character. 30 point buy, my lord...what to do

Here's what I have so far crunch-wise. :-) I assumed 2 traits but wasn't sure what to do about gold. He's built to be a secondary melee fighter, scout, trapfinder (but not disabler unless the new Trapfinding trait is allowed), and support caster (he'll eventually have a bunch of wands and scrolls to fully utilize his Arcane Training trait). Thoughts?

I'd like to submit a monk that thinks he's a bard.

Background:

In his youth, Molgrim Deathaxe was a brash and brave warrior. He was born into a modest dwarf family in Riddleport. When he came of age, he joined the family mercenary business. After a few successful jobs for the Pathfinders, ? was approached by Sapphire White to join her newly formed band full time. For a while, the world was their oyster. Then came that fateful day. Although he fought valiantly, the odds were against him. When Sapphire was cut down and his ancestral axe was sundered, fear took over the dwarf’s heart.

Routed and shamed, Molgrim fled into the countryside. He does not remember how long he ran, but exhaustion eventually overcame him. When he regained consciousness, Molgrim found himself lying in a bed of what he would later learn to be a cottage in a small farming village. The villagers nursed him back to health and allowed him to live in their community. Over the years, the village elders taught Molgrim patience, wisdom and how to master the inner fears that betrayed him years ago. No longer a reckless youth, he is now a teacher, instructing the youth of the village in turn. When the letter found its way to him, he knew that it was time to set things right. Thanking the elders for all their help, Molgrim set off down the road to fulfill his destiny.

Mogrim is average sized for a dwarf. His hair is pale and he wears his beard in a tight braid. He no longer wears his armor, but still carries the axe shaft, both to use as a weapon and as a reminder.

Here is the bitter, and angry gunslinger ready to get revenge for what has happened. (Void Dragon)

Scarab Sages

I was also curious about starting wealth. I have spent class average thus far. Otherwise I have mostly updated my crunch. I'll have my backstory fluffed up sometime tomorrow ideally.

Scarab Sages

Would you allow a CR 3 monster/animal character or an animal race with level 3 class such as a semi-intelligent former animal companion?

Also, do you want all stats at ten and above before or after modifiers for race? (So could an Orc could have 8's on a couple of mental stats, for example?)

@ Kios: Before racial modifiers and like an awakened animal? What kind?

@Azrin: Standard 3000gp available to Level 3 characters. Not that it'll stay WBL.

Scarab Sages

Yeah. It would be above 2 Int with the 30 point buy after racial modifiers, so it would be awakened as a magical beast.

I was thinking a kangaroo since its the same starting CR as a human and they're cool.

At least it's not an Emu. Having something with the brain about the size of a walnut being able to pretty much look you in the eye?

Yah....BIG birds. With BIG honkin' clawed feet! They don't tell you THAT in the travel brochures!

Jus', y'know, sayin'... (¬_¬)

Slowly working up my Captain Andoran.

What does the DM think of this trait?

Must admit, I've always been kind of inspired by This particular image for a long while before the current movies were about.

I need to come up with a backstory and a name. I'm thinking Dimitrious Black.

I still need to work on completing the crunch, but I hope this is okay.

Here is the current, quick, work up for "Captain Andoran". The stats need changing since Herolab doesn't do a 30 point buy option. Also equipment needs to be bought. An image/avatar needs to be found. There might also be a 'In disguise' avatar image created, since Captain Rodgers didn't wear the uniform all the time.

SO..with Joe above and Steve here in the offing...

Might I humbly suggest a name for our group?

How about "Guardians of Golarion" ?

In honor of This? (^_^)

Thoughts? Comments?

What type of firearms will you allow?

I'd kinda like to play the 3.5 changeling race. Its quite a bit different from the PF changeling. Is that ok, or would it make my admission less likely?

I like the Guardians of Golarian idea.

I'm working on putting together an Agents of the(Order of the) SHIELD homebrew right now.

Go comic book media!

(^_^) Awesome! Joey

Picked this avatar. Seems one of the better/More fitting ones so far.

Strangely, the avatar selection page keeps crashing my browser. Will try looking for a better one some time later/

Now that you mention it, so do I.

@jimibones: What kind of firearm were you looking to use?

The 3.5 changeling race is fine to me. I like that version better than the PF one myself.

Guardians of Golarion, I like.

(^_^)

So...just 3K of reward to spend now. ;)

Grand Lodge

If I'd known about the guardians idea, I would have made my character a telekinetic and called him Vance...

Awesome thank you.

Im going to submit a psionic changeling and Id really like access to a revolver. Im not wanting to go all power build crazy, dual wielding revolvers or anything like that. By the time I get even 2 attacks Ill already have access to powers such as disintegrate and fuse flesh. Id be focusing on my psionic powers, I just kinda want a mundane attack that I can fall back on that's still really cool. Plus its style thing

Actually I should say its mostly* a style thing

Do you allow empower and intensify spell on magic missile?

DM: Ok I have a backstory up albeit a pretty depressing one, feel free to make any changes you deem neccessary.

Tsiron walked into town through a network of back alleyways. If anybody saw him, they would be liable to scream, run, and call the guard. The only place that would possibly accept him was the Rusty Dragon. If Sapphire was with him... No. He couldn't afford to think of Sapphire right now. Unconsciously fingering the ring under his tunic, Tsiron turned a corner and found the Restful Sanctuary.

Quickly ducking into the inn, the tiefling found the barkeep at the bar. The former adventurer looked him up and down and said "I don't judge people by their looks. However, I don't want you alarming the customers. Stay in your room, please. That'll be five silver." After handing over the money, Tsiron walked up to his room. He couldn't blame her for shutting him off from the inn commons. He did have all the fixings of a demon. Red, scaled skin; horns, wings, cloven hooves, a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth, and a tail, all made for a frightening image. Which is too bad, really, because he was a nice person.

Sitting down on his bed, he recalled Sapphire's last words: "This... is Ragmar. It is up to you to destroy him forever," as she gave him the ring.

"I will," Tsiron vowed. "Even if it destroys me."

Backstory

Spoiler:
Demonborn. That was the label that accompanied Tsiron everywhere he went during his childhood. A heroic couple took Tsiron in, hoping to give the boy a good life. And yet, a year after, their house burned down. By the time the tiefling was of six years, he had went through three homes. After that, they just gave up and left him on the streets. At twelve, he left the town. Tsiron scraped out a living by drifting like a ghost through various towns, scavenging out of trash. He was scorned, if not outright driven out, everywhere he went.
However, the blood of heroes and the blood of fiends were mixed in Tsiron's veins, and from the two of them came an unshakable determination. He would persevere. He would live.

But finally, after twenty-two years of punishment and scorn, something in Tsiron snapped. His abyssal blood manifested and gave him undreamed-of power. And so, Ragmar of Fiendblood rampaged across the Lost Coast, using Tsiron's body as a vessel.

For three years, fiendish power pulsing through his body's veins, Tsiron watched helplessly as his body wreaked unspeakable havoc. And then finally, an elven swordlady found Ragmar... and then all was black.

Tsiron found himself in a forest grove, with the swordlady making stew. Croaking out a question, Tsiron asked "Why?..." The answer he got before he blacked out was "Because it was the right thing to do."

Sapphire-as Tsiron came to know the swordlady as-was calm and peaceful. As the tiefling recuperated, he helped Tsiron find peace that he had never known before, peace that he never could have achieved without her help.

One day, Tsiron confessed that he would never be at peace while the wrongs he had wrought remained marring his soul. He would repent for Ragmar's sins by helping people as Ragmar had destroyed them. For every soul destroyed, another protected. For every town razed, another saved. Sapphire smiled and simply said "I hoped you would say that."

Under the cover of the night, they traveled to where the other lost souls Sapphire had recruited waited. And the Pathmasters were formed.

Tsiron's dexterity, intelligence, and fiendish blood that gave him a source of arcane power led him down the path of the magus. Better yet, he found that if he outsourced the fiendish power in his blood, it decreased the resurgent bouts of rage that remained from the time of Ragmar.

That was only a short time before the diabolists. When Sapphire was struck down, Tsiron knelt beside her and a single tear ran down his cheek, since he owed her the most. With a final breath, Sapphire took a ring that she had kept for as long as Tsiron could remember, and wheezed "This... is Ragmar. It is up to you to destroy him forever," before dying. Then, retreating along with the others, Tsiron vowed to find a way to destroy the ring.

He spent the years separated from the rest researching and traveling, trying to find a way to destroy such a thing-to destroy a demon.

On one of his many journeys during these years, an ancient sentient intelligence detected his goal, and realized that her's coincided with his. While walking over a hill, Tsiron found a strangely shaped stone at the top. When he went over to inspect it, the stone erupted in blue light, and he found a hovering scimitar-his chosen weapon. The scimitar sang in a melodious voice "My name is Blackblade Kaetar, and I wish to join you on your quest." After hearing Kaetar's goal-she was created to help people who's goal was to find a way to permanently destroy demons while they're on the material plane. Tsiron accepted her help, and before the letter from the Pathmaster came, they were investigating an account concerning how weapons take on a different quality while on other planes-allowing them to kill the inhabitants.

Okay...will be busy with shift work for the next couple of days.

Hope the stats for the character are okay.

Will be thinking about back story while at work. Will make up an equipment list as soon as I can (As in after a couple of days). Though there shouldn't be any surprises. A throwing shield, possible admantium. Chain shirt. That sort of thing. ;)

Wishing every one all the very best.

Can everybody please give feedback on my crunch/fluff?
Thanks ^_^

Also curious: Will this game be going mythic?
Because bump.

Tsiron Ragmar wrote:

I like your story a lot, I wish I had your writing skill as it was like reading a page out of a novel.

I haven't decided on the mythic front. If I want to give out a mythic tier, I'll give out a mythic tier.

I would allow empowered spell, but not intensified as each missile only does a set amount of dice, but you could increase the number of missiles.

Whats the word on the firearm DM? I've went ahead and started creation with one but I'll put it back and choose a different feat if it will make my admission less likely
