My party choices:

Emmeline
Neils
Doctor Rogers
Spidre or Marianne.

I can't decide between Spidre or Marianne, because while Marianne has an awesome backstory and obviously worked very hard on her character, I really like Spidre's personality.

As for my other choices, I like Neils because he strikes me as a well-done Anime character, which I love. Doc is probably my second-favorite out of the bunch, just because of his hilarious interactions with Xerxes. Emmeline and I complement each other so well that we actually worked on a loose backstory centering around us studying each other and me basically taking her under my wing.

DMs usually have their own vision about how they would like the game to go and I'm sure that RVT is no different. I've had really good characters go unselected because they were dark when the DM wanted light or vice versa. No matter what happens, I've never known a DM to make the decision personal and expect the same to be true here.

Everyone puts a lot of effort into their characters and each one includes a little bit of them as a player. Some people are great artists, some great writers and some just make great characters. I do not envy a DM having to choose and so I certainly wouldn't want to vote. No matter who RVT goes with, some will be happy, some disappointed and some very much so.

I just hope the game is fun for whoever is chosen and that those not selected for this game are selected for another sometime soon.

^ what Hilde said.

Recruitment threads are always a frustrating clusterf%$%, and tend to get worse the longer they go on. This one has been surprisingly pleasant and entertaining, especially considering it's 800 posts long now.

Well said, Hilde.

Happy Easter, all!

I am waiting on RVT to respond to a PM I sent her the other night about my build. It's important enough that her answer could very likely change my PC and the backstory.

Did everyone have a nice bunny day?

I worked, so nice enough.

I worked as well. *Patpat*

Mine was okay. A lot of family drama followed by a few hours of celebration and relaxation.

I relaxed the whole time! :D

Lots of homework-dodging was had.

Bump for great justice!

Alright, well I'm calling it.

We are a week and a half past the original deadline and we haven't heard from the DM in nearly four days. I think I've been fairly patient up to this point but my patience has run out.

I came looking to play a pbp game with a nice 1/day posting speed, but instead I've been having nothing but casual discussions with other applicants (not a bad thing mind you) and playing buffer for the DM (I think I may have provided more feedback and answers in this thread than the DM themselves). It'd be different if the DM had proven themselves to be reliable in the past, however that isn't the case. I have waited for nearly 17 pages to get a straight answer on a simple question, but instead all I've gotten is "I'll do it soon" and then nothing.

Though I haven't seen eye to eye with the DM and some of the players on the games themes or rules, I was willing to work around it for the sake of having a good time. However, if the DM is not willing or capable to consistently provide timely responses then I am not willing to put anymore effort into their game.

I appreciate those of you who have made an effort to remain pleasant and optimistic up until this point, I really do. But the DM has transformed a decision that should have taken 15 minutes into a two week long ordeal. So, unfortunately, I have grown fatigued waiting and have decided to withdraw my application. It would have been fun, but I no longer have faith in the DM to come through.

I PM'd RVT the other day and she's still with us.

Also, it was a holiday weekend and I know a rash of people have been getting sick. Allergy season and everything.

That makes it even worse.

The deadline was a week and a half ago, so unless she celebrates Easter for a week and half I see no reason for her to miss so many of her deadlines.

I'm gonna be blunt:

If its this easy to discourage before the game even started, you aren't gonna be any better in game.

You said you've waited 17 pages for some answer from RVT. Did you bother to PM her?

Also, while I get how annoying it is for the initial deadline to come and go and a party still not be chosen long after, its not like RVT has actually abandoned us.

Finally, I believe I am partially to blame here. Apparently, my PC is important enough for her to base her choices around. I am not sure why, nor do I know why she needs a fully created PC for her to choose her players, but that seems to be the way it is. I just got her response to my PM last night, so I'll work on my character today/night.

That being said, hopefully the others aren't too annoyed or upset by RVT having not yet picked the party. She's new to the boards and I believe is trying her best. As she has continued to communicate with us, I am willing to deal with a few days here and there of not hearing from her.

Ok, well here are the selections! Monkey, I'm sorry about not waiting on you, I just feel like I wasn't being totally fair holding everyone up. It makes me feel bad, because you and Doomed Hero were the first people I really connected with on the boards. You know it's nothing personal I didn't wait any longer, right?

Emmeline
Arwyn
Marianne
Maena
Dr. Rogers
Royce

Those who were selected, go ahead and talk about mutual backgrounds, finalize crunch, ect.

So am I not in? I had been waiting on your PM to finish my PC...

Oh, um, neat. Neils isn't here, but... Emmy, my surrogate sister/daughter! Let us celebrate!

Monkey, I sent the PM earlier. Did you not get it? If you didn't get it, then I will not penalize you and make a 7th slot for you. Sound fair?

Thanks RVT!

I'm happy I made it. I wonder how I would have met and come to understand such strange creatures.

Does anyone have suggestions?

The human heroes I'd have been actively seeking, and I suppose I would have had an easier time accepting Emmeline or Royce earlier on because of having lost a child.

I still might be paranoid about the fey or Maena's curse if I don't know them well before our starting point.

Lets move the discusion to the discussion thread.

RVT, can you set that up for us?

Well, Emmie would know Arwyne, as they've met several times. She'd probably be carrying the gnome, as that's as close to a friend as she has, tentative as it is.

Discussion page up! Sorry I failed to recognize the obvious! ^_^

Monkey, no problem! I really wanted you to be in it and when I didn't see a reply from you on the PM and I saw the borderline mutiny, I chose to proceed. Didn't even cross my mind that it could be a technical error. If you choose to put that character up, then that's right cool and head to discussion

I will have a profile made and get in the discussion board by end of day.
