Went to using the same sheet I use for all my characters, link in my title bar.
Fort, Ref, and BAB all +1
Took the Two Weapon fighting Combat style so now I can use both heads of my axe.
filled out class skills and went to 2 in Intimidate, K.Nature, Perc, and Survival.
Next level I'll be picking up Diehard most likely, so I'm excited for that

Hey guys, consider any post-nagging from me to be at a minimum for the next few days. I'll keep up with what people post but if you can't post, don't worry about it. Have a merry Christmas and happy holidays and all that.
Ragnar Djorinson |
Thank you. And to you as well, Merry Christmas and have a nice holiday season!

Okay. I think our absentees are Czein and Flexx, so I'll run them to get the interrogation scene over with.
Ragnar Djorinson |
I didn't have the time to completely think this through. Also Ragnar is more of a merchant than anything else. He's no strategist in the military sense.

An 11 foot long weasel? Like the animal, just in very big? Or am I missing something?

Also I hope you're all OK. I heard there's some really bad weather coming to the east coast.

As in you are looking at a really, really, really big weasel. I'm all right out here, I'm up in northern Canada but we seem to be having an early spring while the US northeast faces its doom.
Ragnar Djorinson |
While I took some notes, I often post with my smartphone, so looking something up isn't that easy. That complicates planning. We did get a map of sorts and some Infos on the town. Decision making would be easier if you'd post a list of known points of interest and why we'd want to go there (in a half-sentence). So everyone just had to decide where to go to first instead of coming up with something himself.
That's just a thought. I noticed that posting always drops during planning and picks up as soon as things just move along.

Hey guys,
So I've come to the conclusion this game isn't working. A combination of the non-directive nature of the campaign, the large number of player replacements in a short time, and still a couple of players with low posting rates means that we're moving through quicksand. Group one is going fine so I can happily use the stuff I've written.
Options are:
1. Keep going.
2. Close up the game.
3. Close up the game and I can be convinced to run an AP.
Let me know what you think!
Crystal Delphi |
To be honest, I wouldn't object to you deciding to run an AP instead of this.
I'd very much like to play a different character as well--I got to try out the Inquisitor class & Dhampir race, and I can safely say that while playing as an Inquisitor was fun, the Dhampir thing didn't work out as well as I hoped.
What AP did you have in mind?
Sutandir Zarill |
I'm in the position of having just joined and not really knowing anything about what's going on or the character dynamics. Add to that the fact that this character is an Investigator, I haven't had a lot to contribute to what we've done so far.
I'm good either way (assuming there is stuff coming down the line that my character will be able to contribute to!). I like Spiderbeard and will happily play whatever game he runs. ;-)
Ragnar Djorinson |
I don't really know what to say. I really like how you run this game and I like the story so far. But since the game doesn't run really well, I don't think we would see the whole story through.
Also I think I'm kind of done with the Pathfinder RPG ruleset. Creating Ragnar took forever and even though I love the character and his backstory, I don't really enjoy playing him. A witch isn't the most interesting character to play during combat I guess.
So, yeah, I won't create another character using the Pathfinder RPG ruleset. And playing an always quite combat heavy AP with Ragnar as my character won't be too much fun.
So I guess It comes down to Number 3 then. Which is a shame since I really like gaming with you.
Juid lan Déguîs |
Like a few of the others have said, Juid is not really playing the way I imagined. I think I could and would contribute a lot more with a skill monkey, because infiltration and exploration aren't areas where he has much to give. But I feel like this group needs a driver and it doesn't seem to have one. I would likely start over with a different character.
I really like the concept behind your world here and the whole 'these characters have grand destinies' idea. I also think that you've done a really good job as GM, with believable NPC reactions, great interactive maps, plenty of description.
Given your quality GMing, I'd be up for trying something else, whatever it is.

I really couldn't agree more!
So, please keep me in the loop. As I said, I probably won't build another Pathfinder character, but I said that before I read the pitch for this game and look how much effort went into Ragnar! If I get excited about what you plan with us in the future, I might be willing to put my differences with the Pathfinder RPG behind me and just enjoy what you bring before me. Especially when it is more about roleplaying and a bit less about combat.(Sorry for changing my mind all the time. I'm REALLY torn about this and the fact that I just finished my Master’s Thesis and got WAY too little sleep doesn't really help.)
GM SpiderBeard |
Sorry I posted in every game but this one; have been computer less for the past day and a half. I'll respond substantively tomorrow.
GM SpiderBeard |
Okay, back.
So, echoing Ragnar's concern and although this is a Pathfinder board, I am more than interested in playing something else. Is there any interest in a different game system and/or genre? I'd love to run Unknown Armies which is my favorite game system ever and MUCH less crunchy with fast character creation and clever, simple rules. That said if majority opinion is for an AP that's what I'll do.
And Czein, I'm going to have to remove Flexx from consideration for the next game. He obviously can write up a hell of a character but I just don't think he can make the 1/day posting requirement or close to.
Ragnar Djorinson |
I don't know Unknown Armies...
Well, if the AP or idea is good, I'll give Pathfinder another chance (but with another class!). If the mix between combat and roleplay is like it was in this game, I'm fine with it. I'm just hoping that doing a new campaign with the same people won'T net the same result...
What AP did you have in mind?
GM SpiderBeard |
Adventure Path it is! Unknown Armies is billed as modern occult horror but the only word that really applies is modern. It's a modern day game that's VERY RP-heavy and uses an inventive magic system based on sort of... universally held big ideas, the nature of obsession, and a lot of postmodern ideas. I suggest checking it out in your spare time.
I'll post in detail on what APs I'm interested in later on. Going ot my in-person group for the last fight of Rise of the Runelords!
Please post your requests for an AP because I'm fishing for ideas. My top choice is Curse of the Crimson Throne since I've never run or played in it.
Ragnar Djorinson |
I played it and it is really good. But I don't know of I wanted to revisit it...
I'd be interested in Jade Regent, if done right (some of the books seem to be on the weaker side) .

GM SpiderBeard |
We're 100% doing an AP now. I just need suggestions! I'll say each person has one vote. I'd love to do something nobody has been in before if we can manage that, and will break any ties.
One vote for Jade Regent.
My vote is for Shattered Star. Just finished running RoTR so I'd like to get into the sequel which seems to enjoy a good reputation.
Here is what I am NOT willing to run and will veto:
- Carrion Crown (done it repeatedly)
- RoTR (same)
- Reign of Winter (playing with Sutandir)
- Wrath of the Righteous (running it right now)
- Giantslayer (just started playing in it, would like to keep it its own thing)
Crystal Delphi |
For APs:
-I'm currently GMing campaigns for Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne, and Jade Regent (for 2 groups).
-I'm currently playing in campaigns for Rise of the Runelords (one in the 1st book, one in the 4th), Shattered Star (haven't gotten very far; still on the 1st book), Jade Regent (near the end of the 1st book), Reign of Winter (into the 3rd book now), Wrath of the Righteous (near the end of the 2nd book), Age of Worms (4th adventure in and LOVING IT), Kingmaker (early part of 1st book), Iron Gods (early start of 1st book, and I have 5/6 books in the AP), and Skull & Shackles (near the end of the 1st book).
-I've read through Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Second Darkness (not too closely, though--just for the story), Jade Regent, Carrion Crown (and didn't enjoy it much), Skull & Shackles (enjoyed it slightly more than Carrion Crown), Iron Gods (loving it!), bits of Council of Thieves (only the first 2 adventures, then I stopped), and Savage Tide.
I have never played in a Second Darkness, Legacy of Fire, Council of Thieves or Serpent's Skull campaign.
GM SpiderBeard |
I'll run CoCT in my in-person game since it's so popular on the boards and I can nix Jade Regent as well considering how invested you arei n it.
What do people think about Iron Gods? It's well-regarded, I don't really mind if Dragoncat has read it, and I'm interesting in taking a step out of standard high fantasy.
Czein |
I am already playing through Iron Gods, but I missed most of book 1. I could be fine with having parallel playthroughs going on.
My current repertoire is
Playing:
Carrion Crown in meatspace (loving it!)
RotRL
Iron Gods
GMing: (all in meatspace)
Kingmaker (Fun)
Serpent's Skull (Flopped)
And a Homebrew from FFIX
