Taryk Tarkanon: A general idea of where you plan to take your build would be a good idea. Also include your first level feats/traits. The flavor itself seems fine, and would fit in the campaign.

Rabi: Common/Taldane is the most common. Elven (and various other "racial" languages) are likely to be spoken in Sunrise with some regularity. There are a handful of gillmen in the Azure District who speak aboleth.

Kenders get the Master Summoner treatment. From orbit.

Had a bit more time to work on Tolas during my lunch hour. Actual background is still in the works.

Personality:
Curious, mischievous, light-hearted, trustworthy (at least as much as rogue can be), good-natured (when it suits his needs). He enters every situation with a lop-sided grin on his face, his arms nonchalantly crossed over his chest (his daggers always just a quick flick of the wrist away) and he tends to lean upon whatever surface presents itself, propping himself up with one leg bent at the knee. Confident with just a touch of arrogance. His eyes are constantly flicking to the shadows, checking on the whereabouts of his partner in crime, Eit, but you wouldn’t notice this unless you watched him with a very keen eye. If he has no opinion on a matter, he will usually side with the majority, part of his easy-going manner. In terms of Eit, well, you won’t see her unless she makes a point of being seen. And that usually means she’s already rent your flesh with her claws…

Appearance:
With deep blue eyes and fair skin, most wouldn’t be able to pick Tolas out of a lineup, if it weren’t for his striking perpetually tousled bright copper hair. Otherwise, he looks like a typical youth not coming from nobility or poverty. He is slightly above average in height with a lean build. Beneath his pocketed vest and open necked shirt, a keen eye could spot the finely tooled scrollwork on his leather armor hidden beneath, and his only visible weapon (who’s to say how many more are concealed on his person?) is a short bow and quiver of arrows slung across his shoulders. In reality, he has a dagger hidden in a wrist sheath on each arm with possibly one or two more hidden in his vest or boots... His dusty brown leather boots come up almost to his knees and his gloves have the fingers cut out (to manipulate all manner of security device, of course, although you didn’t hear that from him).

Oh thank you very much! :-)

Okay. I was just wondering. I wanted my bonus languages to reflect the street talk he would normally hear.

As we are in the south I have taken Polyglot. It is spoken in Sasserine?

I took Abyssal and Draconic on Xoruk as they seem the most in-line with orc culture, but I can imagine I probably won't need them very much.

I like you.

GM Red Ruin wrote:

In that case, lets hope no Kender Master Summoners show up.

I don't think a prospective first-Level Party near the city would survive the fallout of THEIR treatment.

I want to play. I was thinking of being a halfling cleric // master summoner who spends all my time summoning and creating undead while stealing from party members and acting childish.

lol.

Only if he wants to be thrown overboard at some point.
:)

Ok, based upon the overwhelming support, I have figured out a perfect halfling monk(underfoot adept/martial artist) - rogue(filcher). Although influenced by out favorite kender Tasselhoff Burrfoot, he will be all Golarian. (Really, it would be hard to have a perfect Tas with monk levels as I am pretty sure Tas had about a -2 Wisdom.)

Got a great background, just need to put it into words now. Should be finished tomorrow or Friday.

Should have made a halfling. *grumble grumble*

Dotting; got to start crunching...

GM Red Ruin wrote:

In space, no one can hear them scream. Which is probably a good thing because any kender that survives will likely have severe PTSD. That, my friends, is even worse than a normal kender.

Illyan Sobachesky: Polyglot is not spoke often by citizens, but some traders will speak it as their primary language. Most will still speak Common, though. That said, I sometimes like to give bonuses to Diplomacy checks and the like for addressing someone in their native tongue.

Xoruk Ironmaw: Abyssal and Draconic will see use in this campaign, but probably not much early on.

There was a Kender Master Summoner in Azlant. That's why it sank. Official Paizo canon.

As an aside, I might not be able to post much on Friday. I have work and a fair amount of homework due by Saturday morning. Just in case anyone has some burning questions on Friday, I might not be able to answer them until Saturday in the afternoon or so.

I plan to pop in Thursday night to answer any questions anyone has.

The character is actually built in her link, with feats and traits and such. If chosen, I'll tweak her to your approval. At the bottom are some links to her plans, which are to take levels of wizard and then ultimate Mage, if approved, in an attempt to control and reign in her magic. Thanks. :)

just as a shout-out, the DM said this: "Fiendish heritage (Daemon): (+2 INT, SR 10+1/2HD)" was pretty much out, no picking or rolling on the tables. On the plus side, you should not need a Feat for the Variant Heritage.

also, by RAW, crossblooded and wildblooded are mutually exclusive, may want to check with DM there if its ok.

also level 1 with "HP 32/32" seems a bit off? plus did not find your actual ability scores.

that just from quickly skimming over it.(also i did not really catch your gestalting but may be I didn't look hard enough)

Yeah, I didn't actually build her for gestalt. But I'll switch it if it becomes necessary. Same with the Daemon-blood and such; that was there prior to this thread, and I'll switch it if he doesn't allow.

I went with the cross-wild as an intriguing character concept, where a sorcerers magic was eating her from the inside out, and her only way to control it was through studying wizardry. This fit, and I've always wanted to play her. She was pretty powerful (I imagine), so I'd almost be curious to play her as is with gestalt characters, and see how she holds up...lol.

And I've never actually seen the RAW on cross-wild being mutually exclusive. Oh well. I allow it at my tables with no issues.

aye, regarding the

cross-wild archetypes:

A character can take more than one archetype and garner additional alternate class features, but none of the alternate class features can replace or alter the same class feature from the base class as another alternate class feature. For example, a fighter could not be both an armor master and a brawler, since both archetypes replace the weapon training 1 class feature with something different.

It's mostly got to do that both cross AND wild affect the same class features. Also for Crossblooded, by wording, you have to choose 2 DIFFERENT bloodlines, not twice the same with one being wildblooded.

But in general I would also accept wild+crossblodded at my table unless some powergaming like (Sage Bloodline + Sylvan Bloodline) came up, but it's good to check with DM anyway. Same thing with Eldritch Heritage Feats used for Variant Bloodlines, by Raw there's some problem because you need an Archetype to have those changes to the BASE bloodline you can pick up.

As for her Power: Completely depends on table and Campaign. As said, the cherry-picking of Heritage Table for +2 Attribute and SR will not fly with many DM's. And as non-human crossblooded sorcerer, she would have very few spells known so would likely be good at one thing, not so good at everything else.
If you planned on switching over to Wizard, you are losing a caster level for the other stuff, and have to wonder if its really worth it if you never planned to progress in Sorcerer(fluff reasons aside, of course). (<=That assuming that Ultimate Magus is 3.5 and not in.)

What I am trying to say: I think I understand what you want to do with her. But I think without Gestalt that may be very hard to pull off and remain effective throughout career(even with Ultimate Magus her effective Caster Level would be lagging behind(due to Level 1+4)), so basically what I'm suggesting is to rework her as Gestalt without the Power-Creep and try to get a spot in a Gestalt-Game like this.

Silver Crusade

Still here, wondering if you saw my post

The fluff for Tolas is complete. I have purposefully left bits of his background vague, to be filled in through actual gameplay, but let me know if you'd like to know more and I will provide as much detail as you require.

This information can also be found under my alias profile.

Tolas:

Background:
A lifelong native of Sasserine, Tolas is the nephew of Gregar Skeen, Master of the Shipwright’s Guild, Tolas primarily works as a courier, transporting rare herbs, spices, and other sought after natural ingredients from the Order of the Flaming Leaf, a druid’s circle just outside of Sasserine for sale on the black market or - if he’s particularly lucky that day - he sells them to the Amedio Trading Concern, based out of Shadowshore and run by Vico Bevenin. He is never told what the packages contain, for they are tightly wrapped in large lacquered leaves and emblazoned with a red oak leaf, the symbol of the order, painted in jintberry juice. While these ingredients are no doubt immediately processed further into illicit drugs of all kinds, Tolas is oblivious to this fact as well, and prefers it that way. He simply does what he must in order to survive the harsh streets of Shadowshore. The less he knows, the less he can reveal, and releasing information into the wrong hands in Sasserine is, more often than not, a blunder one very seldom lives long enough to repeat.

What most citizens of Sasserine don’t know is that the Order of the Flaming Leaf colludes with a band of fey that have taken up residence in the woods nearby. Tolas’ natural link to the First World is the sole reason he was chosen as courier when he happened upon them while making camp in a small clearing just off of the road heading north from Sasserine. It surely saved his life that day, for the fey are very keen on keeping their presence in the area a secret. Even more so than with Tolas, the fey felt an immediate kinship with Eit and welcomed her into their order. She could always find solace within their trees. After many months spent running goods for the mischievous creatures, it wasn’t long before he was fluent in their native tongue.

When he isn’t busying himself with running contraband, Tolas helps his uncle at the docks, running lines, or - if he’s have a particularly bad streak of luck - scraping barnacles off of the hulls of the myriad ships docked along the eastern bank of Shadowshore. He worries that one day his uncle will find out about his working relationship with Bevenin, due to the Trading company’s questionable reputation. He hopes to one day make enough coin smuggling goods to uproot and join up with the Seekers over in Sunrise to pursue a thrilling life of adventuring and treasure-seeking.

Eit is always close at hand, but rarely seen, sticking to the shadows as much as possible. She only speaks to the fey outside of the city, otherwise she remains silent, sharing her thoughts with Tolas through their arcane link. When the duo is forced to travel out of the city, they prefer to do so under the cover of darkness. While within Sasserine, Tolas always keeps materials on hand to craft her a suitable disguise.

Personality:
Curious, mischievous, light-hearted, trustworthy (at least as much as rogue can be), good-natured. His sapphire eyes are constantly flicking to the shadows, checking on the whereabouts of his partner in crime, Eit, but you wouldn’t notice this unless you watched him with a very keen eye.

A broad white studded bandana holds his wild hair in check, while also serving to conceal the arcane rune on his forehead marking him as a summoner. Otherwise, he looks like a typical youth not coming from nobility or poverty. He is slightly above average in height with a lean build. Beneath his pocketed vest and open necked shirt, a sharp eye could spot the finely tooled scrollwork on his leather armor hidden beneath, and his only visible weapon (who’s to say how many more are concealed on his person?) is a short bow and quiver of arrows slung across his shoulders.

A somewhat, but not really, accurate Tolas concept image.

Why me?:
…The halfling woman stares at you, one eyebrow ticked up in question. "Well?”

Tolas holds the letter up to his face with both hands, squinting his eyes and turning his head this way and that, making a mockery of giving the matter intense thought. He drops the charade and tosses the paper back to the Halfling woman, a lop-sided grin splayed across his face, ”I’d never pass up a free meal. Tell your lady I will be there.” he gives a low bow, his coppery hair almost brushing the barroom floor, ”So long as Eit is invited, too.” He gestures to the corner and Kora can barely distinguish the figure of a lithe female stalking among the shadows, a slight shimmer to her blue-tinged skin.

It is no secret to those in the right circles that Tolas solely represents an organization outside of the city which has made a lot of money on the black market and through Vico Bevenin and the Amedio Trading Concern. It is possible that Lady Vanderboren wishes to know more about the nature of this enterprise. Or perhaps she has the insight to realize that if Tolas can be trusted with maintaining the level of secrecy needed to transport whatever goods this mystery organization is providing, that he might well be trustworthy enough to handle whatever this ‘opportunity’ entails and, more importantly, to keep quiet about it. She is also aware that in the handful of disputes Tolas wasn’t able to talk his way out of, he’s actually pretty skilled with the daggers concealed on his person.

Eit:

Appearance:
Eit is a fantastical creature with pale blue-green skin, clawed hands and feet, and a thick mane of similarly colored hair. A blood red vaguely triangular rune is ever present upon her brow, signifying her arcane link to her lifelong friend and partner in crime.

Eit concept image.

Personality:
She is a silent stalker of the shadows and serves to protect Tolas and his interests. Her loyalty to him is unwavering and absolute.

so many good characters

I think you mean too many. And we still have 5 more days.

Yeah. Whoever gets picked it should be a high quality table

Hmmm, interesting. When did Paizo change the colors of names? It appears that when you post with your main character, it is blue. With an alias it is reddish. And with a PFS character, it is green. Gotta wonder why they did it.

Dotting.

I'm possibly interested in creating a warpriest/oracle of Timekeeper (or perhaps Inquisitor/Ranger), but I was wondering what his favored weapon is. Also, which subdomains does he grant, or can we just pick any in the Darkness, Good, Glory, and Travel domains?

My idea is basically for a character who was set to die from a terminal disease, but had it cured praying to Timekeeper. Would this sort of character fit into the religion and campaign?

Posting in primarily to get a dot in here, since I've been following this since the old thread. Still rolling around various concepts, haven't got anything too solid yet, mostly ideas here and there. I'll come back once I've got something.

This is Ictoo, submitting my alchemist/fighter. I will have everything up on my profile by the end of tonight.

faithless one: I saw it, but I wasn't sure it was complete. It is very scant at the moment, and doesn't give me a good idea of the general personality of the character, nor why he is what he is. What led to him becoming a follower of all (or most) good gods? Are there some he rejects? How does he interact with those who follow a single faith, ie looking down on them for their single-mindedness, accepting them but believing them to be misguided, believing they are right and religion is an individual path for everyone, etc. I need more meat to the submission.

Thorntail: Timekeeper's favored weapon is the meteor hammer. I wanted something with a chain-based theme (since part of the god is manipulating the chains of fate) and an eastern flavor. You can pick any subdomain with any god as long as it is one of their domains and it fits the theme of the god. Pharasma-followers shouldn't be taking undead-raising subdomains, for example. And yes, your character would fit in with the religion.

19...19 submissions. Wow. And there are still some who haven't finished and still dotting in.

Just a small note, Yago has the raging brute archetype on his barbarian side as well as wild rager.

Another small note, Ingo's family name is Hawker.

Fine. Ugh

Since I see Raging Drunk as an ability I assume you meant Drunken Brute archetype since Raging Brute isn't an archetype.

yes, my mistake I got the two confused.

This is Lady Ladile, submitting my oracle/summoner for consideration as well as her eidolon. Everything should be all done sans equipment...which I prefer to wait to do until I know if I've been selected or not, but will go back and add in beforehand if needed. Let me know if there are any questions or if I've forgotten something!

I've added everything to Gerhard, I will give it another pass before Monday just to polish it up a little bit.

About 50.5 hours until submission closes!

Flynn Should be done now with Story and all

I have chosen to drop this application.

reason 1. had a hard drive crash and lost the whole back story
reason 2. I am just not "feeling it" I want a character I can really get into and I am just not getting that vibe with what I was going to submit.

Zayne, it has been changed to:

Illyan Sobachesky Magus(Bladebound)/Bard(Arcane duelist)
after seeing that prestige classes are allowed and doing some further check on how the eldritch scion work.

I prefer making a MAD character to some of the ES limitations.

Seems like some really quality entries with still more time to go. It'll be interesting to see the final result

Ok, with 24 hours to go, may I present:

Pazzel S'Ninikoff halfling monk(underfoot adept/maneuver master)/swashbuckler(mouser)/rogue(filcher).

Pazzel will be a general skill monkey, flanking buddy and general battlefield controller through trip and steal abilities. He also has a habit of acquiring other people's property, and then redistributing it.

Background is mostly done, although I probably need to rework it later tonight, but it should give people a feel for him. Equipment still needs to be selected, what is on the character sheet is old. Level 1 is monk/swashbuckler, but the majority of his levels will be monk/rogue.

"Aye. I'm afraid I'm with Owl on that one. There's TOO many quality entries."

Someone who gets in should, with GM's ok, run a second, identical campaign for some more people using all the hard work Red Ruin did for the greater good.
Wishful thinking, i know.

Here's my character's web page, ABROSHTOR ZAZZLE and here are the requirements taken out of the character. More information is recorded at the character web site link. One thing of note, I took Anquan in exchange for Sylvan since in Sasserine, Abroshtor would have more contact with intelligent sea life instead of Sylvan. I will continue to comb for typos, fixing grammar, and wordsmith the character.

WHY ABROSHTOR ZAZZLE?:

Abroshtor Zazzle bows to the Lady Vanderboren ... "This is why you need my services ...

For starters, if you need me to be a diplomat or an ambassador, I am your Gnome!
Secondly, if you need me to sell an ice cube to anyone for a larger profit than you could, I am your Gnome!
Thirdly, If you need something blown up, I am your Gnome!
If you need me to be visceral to rats of any size, with The Juice, I am your Gnome!
If you need something shot, I am your Gnome!
If you need some information or something retrieved, I am your Gnome!
If you need me to make a widget or a gadget, I am your Gnome!
If you need something repaired, I am your Gnome!
If you need something translated, I am your Gnome!
Almost there, if you need someone tracked, with my Bullmastiff, Kinetic, I am your Gnome and Canine tracking team!
Lastly, my Lady, I am sure you remembered this during the seasonal Science Fair in the Merchant District?! When I tried to impress Lady Anwyn Arabani by turning myself into a drow and mostly failed by turning my hair purple and permanently making it stick straight up? However, I did get one Drow feature correct, I can now see in the dark like they can. So if you need comic relief, I am your Gnome!"

At the end, he bows again...

ABROSHTOR ZAZZLE's BACKSTORY:

"Hello, my name Abroshtor Zazzle and I am the youngest and only male product of Krolmnite and Fijit Zazzle a prominent and very wealthy Goods Distributor in the Merchant District and Cloudcrystal Academy Professor of Alchemy in the Noble District. My three older sisters think I am spoiled rotten to the core but I must rebuttal and say they are the spoiled ones. Well, maybe not as much as me but too bad for them ... Ha Ha! My parents told us that they lived in extreme poverty once and they don't want the same for us. Of course, none of us are going to ruin what we have so we just act apologetic to their previous status in life or we remain silent which is usually the best course of action when dealing with parents. From the earliest I can remember, I have always showed an interest in building things, "repairing" things to make them function worse, and playing with my mother's alchemy lab almost burning the house down a couple of times. In addition, it is tradition that us children work at the distribution center when we are old enough to work. My first job was to run messages around the warehouse and it was a big warehouse! I also assigned myself facilities repair man. Unfortunately, my inexperience did not bode well when it came to repairs. So my father would laugh at the repair and call in a professional or do it himself. Both my father and the professional commented on my attempts. They said that my methodology and materials used were correct but my inexperience affected the outcome. We would work at the distribution center during the day and at night, we were home schooled by my mother. My parents did not want us to be teased growing up in a City of Tall Folk and again, didn't want us to experience what they went through. In addition to that, they wanted us to know what it feels to both work and receive an outstanding education which my mother was more than qualified to do.

As I grew older, my father promoted me to shipping receiver. This is when I gain some serious muscle which I still have today and for a Gnome; I am strong! In addition, my skills in engineering were improving around the warehouse and my fixes started to be beneficial. However, I was not quite ready for major inventions and gadgets. At home, my mother gave me her old Alchemy equipment and pretty soon I had my own lab after I cleaned everything and set it up. Alchemy would become one of my home school objectives since engineering projects took place at work. Like all alchemy students, I would blow things up, singe some hair, and scare my mother into installing some safety equipment in the house. This is one way I learned how to be quick on feet. Of course, I wasn't always quick enough and paid with singed hair. This is the year, I started getting into firearms after seeing some sailors and pirates carry some. I asked my dad for a brand new musket which he would always reply, ”We’ll see?” Which drove me crazy but I knew that meant I would probably get one for my birthday or during a holiday. And sure enough, I had a brand new musket given to me by my parents on my birthday. At which time, they threaten me to use it safely and properly or they will take away from me. Of course, I agreed for the “most part”. I still have this musket today and use it all the time. And through firearm use, I developed my agility with time.

Into my early teenage years, my father promoted me to warehouse manager, this is when my social skills started to develop because I was so busy, I needed to delegate responsibilities to our employees so I could repair and engineer new things. During these times, I invented an automatic warehouse door opener. I used primarily wind, like that of a windmill, since we receive a lot of wind near the ocean. The windmill would spin most of the time and all we had to do engage the door we want to open and then the main gear to the windmill to operate the water pumps. If there was no wind, that’s ok because the windmill would also fill up a tank of water that would be used as a backup. My father was so impressed by it that he told everyone what his son had done and people stopped by to visit. This was my first of many inventions to come. As for Alchemy, I was starting to singe less hair and my mother told me that there was a science fair competition coming and that she had already committed me. After a week of pondering, I thought I would turn myself into a Drow to impress the Lords and Ladies who stopped by to watch especially Lady Anwyn Arabani who loves the Drow. Everything was going well with my extract except for one thing, I forgot to add wind into my alchemical variables and “BOOM!” Unfortunately for me the wind did two things, caused the explosion and blew it my face. As a result, my hair stands up straight no matter what I do to it and how old I get. In addition, the blast turned it purple which also I cannot do anything about. The only thing I did get right is I am able to see in the dark like the Drow can. Of course, the audience laughed after they realized that I was ok and what had happened to me. Without hesitation, I took a bow. I was awarded Sleeves of Many Garments for at least achieving a partial change into a Drow, which also became permanent, and comic relief. I was not at all famous but I was starting to make a name for myself for both in science and comic relief.

Towards the end of living with my parents, my father had promoted me to running the front office and running messages for him. My engineering skills were well developed and I had created him an "intimidation" podium. He could and would raise the podium if he was angry at a customer who was not paying or an employee who was under performing. One day, as a practical joke, I sabotage the chair so it raised my father to the ceiling. Normally, he probably would have been angry with me but the customer and my father were laughing so hard, the customer was more than happy to pay his invoice in full with interest. Besides repairing, engineering new things, and selling a shipment, I would run errands for my father. I told him I need something faster and people would take me more serious. This is when he purchased my Bullmastiff, Kinetic. With Kinetic, I was able to get around quickly and people took me more seriously. At home, Alchemy advancement was coming along nicely and my mother no longer worried about me burning down the house and I was successfully making extracts and potions. When I turned 49, I was ready to start exploring and make a name for myself. I heard Lady Vanderboren needs a couple of handy people and I am her Gnome! And rode over to her house on Kinetic!”

ABROSHTOR ZAZZLE's APPEARANCE:

Abroshtor is your typical diminutive Gnome but stronger than your average one with a physique supporting his strength. He could have been easily a warrior but instead he chose the way of the book and firearm. He has earthly light brown skin which is always this color, brown eyes, and purple hair that sticks straight up which seems impossible to groom. He carries a wood and metal stick adapted to his size known as a musket rifle to some. The barrel on this musket seems to be free floating with gears and springs attaching the barrel to the stock. He is wearing a clean and hole free Gnome artisan's or Dilettante's outfit without the hat but lots of places to carry things such as bandoleers, pockets, etc. Abroshtor's backpack is well made and it appears to be designed to equal out the weight on his back giving him the ability to carry more than your average leather adventurer's backpack. He is also armed with a short sword, although he calls it a longsword. In addition, there are glass-like globes attached up and down his bandoleer. Lastly, he is wearing a brown thick leather outfit underneath his Dilettante's outfit.

Abroshtor is accompanied by a large Bullmastiff with the same thick leather outfit, bridle and muzzle {no bit, dogs hate bits more than horses}, a nice looking small saddle, and saddle bags.

Ok, I have updated Pazzel S'Ninikoff. Changed the background slightly, mostly wording and types caused by putting it together too late at night. Made a few other changes, but nothing material.

A few extra details about Jinji and Ingo.

Sometime last spring:

It was like always being a little off balance. Like a limb that had fallen asleep, but in his mind. Aya was there, but muted and not listening. He'd heard about it growing up, but never felt it before. Aya was following the one thing more powerful than the familiar bond - the mating instinct.

She had gone a couple miles to the north of the city, and Ingo came out to see how she was doing. Not getting too close, but watching. He settled on the cliff and saw the male soaring hundreds of feet up into the sky with a nice big fish. He had good lines, well fed, very healthy. A worthy mate. No markings on the wings, so he wasn't a family bird. It was always good to get new blood in. Ingo sat down, spreading out his blanket as he watched the sky dance. Falk seemed unimpressed. Before long, he heard hooves behind him on the trail.

Jinji rode her stalwart pony through the road north of the city. Accompanying her was a retinue of family retainers. A footman, lantern bearer, and several attendants. Ahh the 'joys' of being noble. She watched in the air as her hawk Taka, wheeled about in the sky. She noticed it was doing a dance with another hawk. Must have made a new friend She let Taka have its fun. Before long she saw him dip swiftly toward the river, and come up with a sizable fish. She continued to ride a bit further. She knew there was a spot ahead that was suitable for a rest and perhaps a meal. It was rare nowadays that she got out of her constant studying. If she was nose deep in several old dusty tomes, deep within her family's voluminous libraries, she was in her lab puring over formulas, or experimenting with new ones, hopefully not starting a fire or killing herself. If her work required even more obscure research she would head in to the academy and study in its library or use its labs. Today she had been at the academy all day, and now it was time for a small break. She had also heard from several of her fellow alchemists, that there was a decent supply of Gendenj Root growing in the vicinity, and she wanted to try to obtain some.

As she rounded the bend, she noticed a small figure sitting on a blanket in a small clearing ahead. She could see it was another of her race, 'halflings' dubbed by the humans and larger races. Although technically, she was categorized as an Aasimar, due to her strong celestial bloodline, culturally, she and her family were halflings. If she recalled, this fellow's name was Ingo, his family worked with messenger birds, reknown for their courier services. She had run into him here and there at various festivals, and holidays celebrated by their people.

"Hello!" she called out.

At seeing the group approach, Ingo stands up. He naturally goes to pat Falk. The big bird was quite friendly, but people who didn't know generally only saw how sharp his beak was. "Good day, Lady Nobaru." he beams with a huge smile. "I didn't expect company, but I have plenty of fruit and cheese to share." Pulling an apple from his pack he approaches. "Yes, even for you." he says as he offers the apple to her pony.

"So what bring you away from your ancient tomes and dusty..." He cuts off suddenly, twisting back to look over at the hawk dancing above the adjoining bluff. His eyes widen with gleeful surprise as he exclaims "Is he yours?!"

Waving pleasantly, she stops her pony and dismounts. "Yes, he is my wizardly familiar. He seems to have taken interest in your bird. Occasionally I need some fresh air, and like to keep my riding skills sharp. How would it look if a Nobaru couldn't maintain her horsemanship? It would be scandalous!" she says with mock horror. "Truthfully, I am never far from my books and scrolls and formulae." She notes tapping a bulging messenger bag, and nodding at the saddlebags of her pony.

"My research has taken me out here looking for a root. It is rare. Have you heard of something called the Gendenj root?" She pulls a notebook from her satchel and show him a picture of a plant. "This is what the plant itself looks like. If you have seen it around here, I have an interest in it."

"hmm..." he thinks, scratching the back of his neck. "Haven't seen it, but it would be on a slope facing away from the sea." He looks over the book. "Let's see, it's not very distinctive aboveground. But I'll bet it probably grows near tanglethorn. Or under it. That'll be visible from above. I could take a look and check for you."

He pauses, and cocks his head, "unless you'd like to join me on a quick flight. It's not unlike riding a horse."

"That sounds interesting! Sign me up." She looked over at the big bird. This was going to be the best ride ever, hopefully she didn't fall off.

He'll head over and remove the saddlebags from Falk, easily carrying the sizable load. Staring at Jinji, or more specifically, her waist, he'll hold up his finger and thumb as if measuring her middle. He'll take one of the straps and loop it through his saddle. Measuring it with his hands, he'll pull out an awl and poke a new hole in it with swift practicality. As he does it, he absentmindedly pulls it away as Falk watches the dangling end, ready to snap at the motion.

With a gesture, Falk dips his body and Ingo pulls himself up into the saddle. "Take my hand and I'll lift you into place behind me. Your new belt may not be the most fashionable, but it will keep you safely in place."

Jinji tells her attendants she will be back shortly. They seem to protest at the danger of the experiment, but they learned long ago, there is nothing they can do to stop her.

Lifting her up in his strong arms, he guides her to the point behind. Once she's strapped in, he turns Falk to the cliff and they head off. Spreading his wings, they drop off to catch the updraft and soar. Ingo can't help looking over his shoulder to see Jinji's reaction.

Jinji takes great interest in the flight. There is some passing interest in the wondrous views and exhilaration, but she found herself watching the bird, and how it maneuvered. She took note of updrafts and wind, and how the bird handled changes in direction. She found herself analyzing the situation, watching and learning, she took mental notes and stored away possible formulas. To her, that was how she enjoyed the ride, although she said nothing so far.

It's a bit of an unusual reaction, but then she was a quite uncommon person. With that he makes a wide swoop back over the hills. Flying slow over the land gave them a wide view of the area. "There we go. Tanglethorn, and if we're lucky, a little gendenj root." With that they come down to a landing.

After they dismount, he'll get down on all fours to examine under the plants. After a few minutes "Ahhh, there it is!" Pulling his sleeve down he'll reach under, digging up the ground. His arm is getting scratched up by the curving thorns. He grunts a bit, but doesn't stop. "Don't worry, I'm fine."

Before long, he's got a little channel underneath that lets him pull out the roots without cutting himself any more. His sleeve is torn and his arm is bloody. Well, for a moment as he touches it and a warm glow penetrates it, closing up the scratches.

The landing was magnificent and the decent into the Tanglethorn fascinating. She said nothing during all of it, taking in everything.

On the ground and the search for the Gendenj root, she scuffles around as well, looking, and smiles when he discovers some. "Be careful its very fragile and also mildly toxic to the touch. Just an uncomfortable rash for a few hours, nothing some aloe salve won't fix. Oh, quite resourceful. Thanks a bunch! This was a great day. I should get out more and see what the world has to offer. Shall we return?"

He shrugs at hearing this, remembering all the times his mother scolded him for leaping in headfirst. A quick call of the spirits brought a rush of water to rinse anything left off of his skin. shaking the drops off they returned to their picnic spot.

Seems like some really quality entries with still more time to go. It'll be interesting to see the final result

"Aye. I'm afraid I'm with Owl on that one. There's TOO many quality entries."

Someone who gets in should, with GM's ok, run a second, identical campaign for some more people using all the hard work Red Ruin did for the greater good.
Wishful thinking, i know.

Maybe he'll run a couple of tables

I believe I will be withdrawing my submission. Good luck to all.
