Male Human Wizard 8

The Chain Gang:
Nice rolls Alicia!

Damien makes eye contact with the man as he freezes up. He may not know what to do, but Damien does. He silently follows Alicia, trying to silence the guard before he can raise the alarm.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 3 = 12

Charging and power attacking with the longsword in two hands.

Molasbar, Maena, Damien, Alicia:
The surprised man dies almost instantly, chopped from shoulder to hip by Alicia's blade. As he collapses, the Forsaken can more easily see through the northern door: it appears to be the guard dormitory. A pair of off-duty guards look up from a card game in shock and horror before lurching to their feet and drawing their swords.

Ariana & Moriarti:
Ariana's is suddenly flooded with light as a bulls-eye lantern shines down on her position. A voice from above calls out: "Oye, Herren! Who's that with you?"

Players may now act! Sorry about the wait, guys.

Male Human Wizard 8

Chain Gang Cont.:
Did I not get a chance to move with Alicia during the last round? If that's the case then I'll double move closer to the guards.

Damien:
You had a chance to move. I don't believe you positioned yourself on the map.

Male Human Wizard 8

Chained Gang Maybe?:
Ah, my apologies. For some reason I thought that you were handling movement. I'll be on top of it from now on.

Damien runs in silently, a quiet symbol of death descending upon the guards.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Damien:
No worries. How did you get a +9 to damage?

Male Human Wizard 8

Maths:
You can wield a longsword in two hands, and for all effects treat it as a two handed weapon. That means adding 1+1/2 your strength bonus to damage (6 in this case), and when you power attack you add 3 to damage instead of 2, thus adding up to 9 damage. I could elect to use a shield to have a higher AC and lower damage output, but we're all about killing them before they can raise the alarm, so I'm opting for the glass cannon approach.

The Fantastic Four:
Molasbar advances when he hears the fighting, looking for a way to help. Double move, icon moved on map.

Damien:
Oh, duh. Way to math me right in the face.

Male Human Wizard 8

Sacred Geometry is the best feat:
Don't worry about it, I normally break up such modifiers individually the first time I use them but after that I simply combine them to save time and space. If you look at my main profile, I do have >9000 levels in number cruncher though. I'm an engernur, engeenier, engiener...

I'm good at math.

Chain Gang?:
Following Damien, Alicia rushes into the room, hoping to make a quick end of the two fools before they brought the whole place down on them. She slashes across viciously with her stolen blade.

Longsword, Charge, PA: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 - 1 = 18

GM:
Ariana winces a little, recoiling as the bright line beams into her face, a little blinding after so long spent with only faint indoor lighting. She hisses hurriedly below her breath, "Play along, or I will make sure that with my dying breath that you regret it." Her mind races for the first lie she can tell, quickly spinning the best she can come up with under the unfortunate circumstances.

Speaking more loudly, she addresses the guard, putting on a gentler voice than her normal tone. "Gosh Herren, I told ya this would happen! I'm so sorry sir; my name is Tiala, and I'm a veterinarian. Herren noticed the dogs weren't looking very healthy, but he didn't want to worry you all or risk you thinking it was something he was feeding 'em, so he asked me to come in and check up on them in the night so nobody would have to worry!"

Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Moriarti's sees the lantern light hit his companion and inhales sharply. "Damn!" he whispers.

He waits with bated breath for a few agonizing seconds before Ariana speaks. Not bad at all, girl, he thinks as she weaves her deception. Relaxing a bit he focuses on the sounds from the other room.

Taking 10 if I can, otherwise... Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Female Tiefling Cleric (Fiendish Vessel) 1

The Four Horsemen...:

Maena rushes forward, raising the club as she starts trying to close the distance, somewhat unsucessfully. She stops just after entering the small room, ready to strike if her companions can't finish them off quickly.

Can't charge them since Alicia and Damien are in the way -- but a double move does get me pretty close to 'em.

GM Screen:

The Four Horse Chain Gang:
Damien and Alicia fall upon the unarmored guards. The slayer dispatches one easily. Alicia slashes the other, nearly killing him. The wounded man clutches his bleeding side, his eyes pleading. "Oh, Mitra. Please don't kill me!"

Ariana and Moriarti:
The guard on the wall takes a moment to process the information, but to Ariana, it feels like an eternity. Finally, the man closes the shutter on the lantern, shrouding the courtyard in darkness. "Alright then. Carry on."

Male Human Wizard 8

Can I be War?:
Damien raises a hand to Alicia, sliding his blade out of his target. He walks over to the living guard and wipes the blood off on his uniform. "I'm intrigued." The blade slides up slowly, leaving a trail of blood until it rests next on the neck of the guard. "So you don't want to die. Help us, help you. Give us a reason why you deserve to live, what can you do for us?"

Murder Hobo Peoples:

Alicia raises her blade, ready to finish the fellow off, when Damien motions for her to hold her swing. Scowling, she steps aside, wiping her blade on the fallen guard's cloak. "Answer quickly, a+&&#~$. As these others can attest, I am impatient to be gone from this place."

GM and Moriarti:
Ariana breathes a sigh of relief as he closes the shutter and believes her lie. "Oh gosh, thanks so much sir! Mitra's blessing be upon you." She smiles and waves him off, letting him get a bit further down before turning back to the man and nodded. "Back to our plan," she says coldly, the fake voice thrown aside. "Move.

Hoh! Ah!, Well don't you know, that's the sound of the men,
Working on the chain, ga-ang:
Smiling at the weakness of the subdued guard, Molasbar turns away and moves to the door, keeping a watch while the others intimdate him.

Female Tiefling Cleric (Fiendish Vessel) 1

Claiming Death, then..:

Maena steps with the club and turning her cruel gaze on him, "And don't lie to us. I hate that enough to make it so that you do want to die."

Sorry about the slowdown. Life is still crazy.

The Chain Gang or Four Horsemen:
The guard clamps a hand over his wounded side, blood leaking between his fingers. "I can tell you where the sergeant is. I can tell you the password to get by the portcullis." He grimaces as pain shoots through his side. "You hafta help me though. I'm dying."

Ariana:
The man walks stiffly to the kennel, which is closer to high fence, butted up against the gatehouse. The gate is to the west, directly across the yard from the front door to the keep. A bubbling fountain sits between the two portals. A pair of bullmastiffs approach the fence, curious of the newcomers. When they get closer, one gives a low growl.

Moriarti:
Ariana keeps moving through the courtyard and slips out of Moriarti's sight.

GM:
Keeping her distance, Ariana avoids getting too close to the dogs, ushering the man toward them, knowing they would have responded better to him than to her, and the less noise she could have possibly made, the better. Her impromptu lie worked once, but there was no promise she could convince the entire barracks of that. "Go on," she said sternly.

Male Human Wizard 8

War!:
Damien considers the man for a moment, then nods his head. "I believe that's a fair trade. Maena, would you be so kind as to stabilize our new friend?"

Don't bother wasting a spell, but a heal check would be appreciated.

Female Human Fighter 1 | HP 13/13 (2 NL) | AC 19/12/17 | F +4 R +2 W +1 (+3 vs non-Asmodean divine) | Init +4 | Perc +2

The guard whisperers:
Alicia starts to step toward the man, a threat of violence on her lips, when the more suave Damien voices agreement with the guard's plea, she sneers at the guard, pulling her dagger to clean her fingernails as she waits for the priestess to do her work.

Female Tiefling Cleric (Fiendish Vessel) 1

Where's my pale horse?:
Maena casts stabilize, ensuring that the man doesn't bleed out, saying, "That will make sure that your blood loss won't kill you. Give us the information, or I won't be able to stop them from making a bigger hole that will take different magic to stop."

4 Horse People:
Even after the bleeding stops, the guard still grimaces in pain. "Alright, alright. I'll tell you. Just don't kill me." He glances around, breathing heavily. "Sergeant Blackerly and some of the boys are in the eastern tower of gatehouse, playing cards. There's probably four or five of them in there. The password to get by the portcullis is 'Hesterfield'."

Ariana:
The man tosses the poisoned meat into the kennel and the hounds immediately tear into it. Moments later, they collapse into unconsciousness. He turns around and look at Ariana fearfully. "Now what?"

Female Human Fighter 1 | HP 13/13 (2 NL) | AC 19/12/17 | F +4 R +2 W +1 (+3 vs non-Asmodean divine) | Init +4 | Perc +2

Almost dead guard room:
Alicia, being a rather poor judge of character and motive, waits for another to make a decision with this information, wondering if the man is being truthful. She rolls her eyes disdainfully, walking to the southern door, to the room with Grumblejack and Molasbar. She keeps an eye on the western door while Maena & Damien finish up with the guard.

Male Human Wizard 8

Don't ruin the surprise:
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Damien considers the man's words, blade gently thumping against his leg. "Anything else? You want to be as useful as you can before we make any decisions."

GM:
So I was thinking...

Seeing that Ariana has successfully evaded detection, Moriarti rejoins the others.

Entering the room just as the pleading guard reveals the password to the portcullis, he adds flippantly, "'Hesterfield?' We knew that already. He doesn't know anything useful. Just kill him."

Male Human Wizard 8

THAT'S A SURPRISE!:
Damien shakes his head in mock sadness. "Oh come now, give the poor man a chance. At the very least we heard the same information from two different sources to it proves that neither were lying. That's worth something in it of itself." He plants the tip of the longsword on the ground and takes a knee next to the guard. "He's right though, we need something more. You can live today, but you have to help us live as well. Come now, is the stripped freedom of some strangers worth your life?" He gives a smile. "We know we made mistakes, but that's no reason to just have us executed. Second chances good sir, second chances." He pats the man on the shoulder. "Do you have a wife? Kids? If you do, think of them. Would you rather they saw you come home tonight, or some armored stranger telling them of your demise? Help me. Help me help you."

Female Human Sorceror 1 | HP 7/7 | AC 12, Touch 12, FF 10 | CMB 2 | CMD 14 | Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1| Per +3 | Init +2

GM:
"Now, you live up to your end of the bargain," she says, brandishing the club, which is when she realizes that it is more likely to knock him out than it is to kill him. Mercy wasn't what she had in mind, but she needed her claws for more pressing matters, and she supposed if he survived, she could live with that fact. "I suggest a death with honour, on your knees. Quick, painless, and fulfilling our deal with grace and acceptance of your fate. You would die an honest man that way, deserving of your goddess's embrace." She gained no great joy from the act of killing somebody under these circumstances, and wanted only to make the process as swift as she could for the sake of expedience.

Female Tiefling Cleric (Fiendish Vessel) 1

3, plus or minus one, horsemen:
Maena narrows her eyes, playing up the strangeness of her appearance as she tries to read the man.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 Sadly, not +12 because it's not an Unearth Secrets sort of roll..

Not Ariana:
The man begins to sweat. "T-the warden is probably locked up in his tower, reading some book. I don't know nothing I else, I swear." He begins to blubber.

Ariana:
The commoner looks at Ariana, eyes wide with fear. "Do it then, traitor. I've done all ye demanded."

Male Human Wizard 8

Pretty sure I'm not Arianna:
"Ah, understandable. Very understandable. Thank you for your help good sir, we will be on our way now." He gives the guard a pat on the back, then slides his longsword through his collarbone and into his heart.

Coup de Grace Damage: 2d8 + 18 ⇒ (4, 3) + 18 = 25

Female Human Fighter 1 | HP 13/13 (2 NL) | AC 19/12/17 | F +4 R +2 W +1 (+3 vs non-Asmodean divine) | Init +4 | Perc +2

Not Ariana:
Alicia hears the sound of the guard's blubbering end, nodding. She calls out, "Make sure to get their gear!" She starts to pace in front of the door to her west, looking like a caged cat. She is eager to leave or eager to exact retribution, but just waiting is fraying her nerves.

Not Ariana:
The man's burbling is replaced by gurgling as he quickly bleeds to death. The three guards carried each a chain shirt, a heavy steel shield, a longsword, a leather club, and longbow with 20 arrows. In addition to this, there are a number of footlockers in front of the bunks in this room.

Male Human Wizard 8

Not Arianna:
Damien checks the footlockers, looking around the room and the corpses for a key if it's locked.

Not Ariana:
The keys that the Forsaken have collected off dead guards open six of the footlockers in this room. Inside, they find:

- nothing :(
- a bottle of absolute rot gut without a label
- a bottle of fine whiskey
- a surprisingly well-written love letter ending in a proposal of marriage to somebody named 'Michelle' complete with a sapphire and silver ring
- a small leather pouch with 3 gp in miscellaneous coinage
- a small supply of cookies carefully wrapped in wax paper labeled ‘From Lil.’

There are fourteen unopened footlockers left in this room.

Male Human Wizard 8

The Possibly Soon Drunken Horsemen:
Damien gathers up everything, including the note. He sees if the other footlockers can open through force. If they seem fairly hard and time consuming to open he leaves them.

Male Elf Wizard 2 | HP:22/22 | F:+3 R+4 W+4 | CMD 14 | AC:14 T:14 FF:10 | Init+4 | Perc +10 |

The Tipsy Equestrians:

At the mention of the warden likely in his tower, Molasbar looks away from his watch on the corridor. "The warden? Putting an end to him would certainly send a message! I would certainly savor a chance to see that one slain!"

Male Human Wizard 8

Sauced:
"If we can, yes. But don't let short minded revenge get in the way of our freedom. Escape is our first and only priority."

Female Tiefling Cleric (Fiendish Vessel) 1

Inebriation, the 5th Horseman:

Maena says, "I'm thinking that killing the warden might help alleviate the risk of recapture.... and, to be honest, if I'm to live with a brand for the rest of my life, because my otherworldly looks weren't enough, then I wouldn't much mind making the man pay...in blood and in coin."

Female Human Fighter 1 | HP 13/13 (2 NL) | AC 19/12/17 | F +4 R +2 W +1 (+3 vs non-Asmodean divine) | Init +4 | Perc +2

Alicia nods at Maena's assessment. "Agreed, then. Let us find the warden and give him his just rewards, then get the hell out of here."

Now I see why there hasn't been any updates. My post was eaten by the fickle gods of the shoddy workplace internet. :(

With Ariana bowing out, let's just assume that the kitchen loose end is tied up.

Grumblejack gives a toothy grin when the Forsaken discusses finding the Warden. "Yes! I agree. But which way?" He gestures to the closed door to the west or back out into the courtyard through the kitchen.

Female Human Fighter 1 | HP 13/13 (2 NL) | AC 19/12/17 | F +4 R +2 W +1 (+3 vs non-Asmodean divine) | Init +4 | Perc +2

Alicia laughs wickedly. "Guess we should have asked that fellow over there before we did him in. Oh well...I guess we'll have to find someone else to ask. Maybe that kitchen woman in the other room?" She goes back to the kitchen, looking for the woman.

If she's there, Alicia asks, "Where is the Warden's Tower? Speak quickly, b&%*%!"

Male Human Wizard 8

Damien lets the girls talk. Can't have all the fun. He keeps watch while Alicia interrogates the poor woman.

Female Tiefling Cleric (Fiendish Vessel) 1

Maena follows and smiles as Alicia lunges toward the serving woman, Seems she's not all bad after all..

"T-take a right out the door into the courtyard. Behind the fort. It's the biggest tower on the wall," the woman stutters through tears.

Female Human Fighter 1 | HP 13/13 (2 NL) | AC 19/12/17 | F +4 R +2 W +1 (+3 vs non-Asmodean divine) | Init +4 | Perc +2

Alicia grins at the woman, nodding. "Thanks!" Surprisingly, she doesn't run the woman through, instead turning back to her companions. "Shall we?" She of course indicates the door leading out, and the courtyard beyond.

Male Elf Wizard 2 | HP:22/22 | F:+3 R+4 W+4 | CMD 14 | AC:14 T:14 FF:10 | Init+4 | Perc +10 |

"We cannot leave her to raise an alarm. Do we take a hostage or leave a corpse?" His alien eyes scan the group, gauging how they react to the choice.
