The GM is in charge in my games and "rule-zero" is in effect
My games rely on a lot of Improvisation rather than pre scripted content - (less so in this case)
Characters in my games are Destined for greatness, not random death
I roll Dice in the open and don't fudge the results in my games
My games include Disturbing content
My games focus on interesting Characters and Drama
Player character Death is a likely event in my games
Players in my game should be prepared to Run when the odds are against them
That said, I hope you will take the time to prepare when possible and run when appropriate.
Y'all are the heroes! Make good choices :)
We'll get started once all characters are fully finalized. Keep an eye on your mailboxes too, because I'll be sending Private Messages to you with pre-game in character knowledge.
Any questions about anything posted here, the campaign, or anything else?

Salvia is learning swordplay from Ulfgurd Strongarm, younger brother to Ulfgard Strongarm. Since the passing of their stepfather, Dorn, the two brothers have been running the smithy.
Ulfgurd is a decent teacher and he doesn't judge or ask questions.
Further, Salvia suspects that Ryksa the lemming herder, her sister and Old Mother Theodora the hebalist may be witches, perhaps the ones causing her nightmares...
Ulfgard Strongarm |
As the towns blacksmith, Ulfgard should know most families in town. Everybody has a something he needs from a local smith, and be it that an old pan that has to be repaired. Also offering quality weapons, he might have been a supplier of weapons for some, like Ragnarok and Sciath, some iron pot or just met at the local tavern.
Also being a dwarf and exile from his homeland he should be quite interested of all those that came her in the last couple of years.
Ragnarok Fimbulwinter |
So Ulfgard's the one who wiped Ragnarok's saving's out. No matter, he's happy with his sword....
And I'm happy to be here. Looking forward to this game. I like the look of everyone's characters.
Ragnarok Fimbulwinter |
Ryksa, I notice in the Player's Guide the name of Heldren's Inn is the Silver Stoat. With that name I bet one of their specials is Lemming. Or if not, it should be. Ragnarok is also known to be able to Cure, although he'll usually give someone some berries to eat instead. Of course with this cursed snow, its getting harder and harder to find food and game.
Ryksa the White |
Well, the idea for Ryksa is she's trying to lay low mostly. And Silver Stoat huh? Hmm... 1)Get hold of merchant; 2)Request lemmings; 3)???; 4)PROFIT
lol, but yeah, I keep forgetting Ragnarok is a druid. With a name and heritage like his, I keep assuming barbarian XD
Ragnarok Fimbulwinter |
When a fight ultimately happens, who here would not want Enlarge Person thrown on them? I particularly like the idea of a giant dwarf, but it does reduce AC by about 2.
Grandma Mable |
If you are hungry and want something eatable Grandma has some delicious cookies for you :).
Everyone in town should know dear sweet grandma Mable, and I do have some healing myself but no channeling.
Oh and thanks for letting me join this should be fun!
Grandma Mable |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
lol my son just pointed out I should provide some cookies when I try to use diplomacy hehe
Ragnarok Fimbulwinter |
Gm DSP Who runs and trains the village militia? I figure Ragnarok lives off the land if he can, supplying Tessaranea with occasional herbs. But when he gets desperate for money like he is now, he does guard work for the militia.
Ragnarok Fimbulwinter |
Ragnarok trudged into town, shrugging the snow off his back. That didn't go well. he thinks to himself. This damned summer snow. It wasn't natural. He could feel it in his bones, that something was amiss in the world. The life of the forest was being smothered by the unnatural weather, soon the plants would die, and then the animals that lived on the plants, then those who lived on animals. His thoughts are interrupted by his arrival at the apothecary. He starts to knock, but hears Argus' laughter from inside. Why, that old goat. he thinks. Well I had nothing to tell Tessaranea other than I couldn't find any, so I guess I'll just come back later. He turns and heads into the Silver Stoat. Closing the door behind him he glances down at Menander behind the bar. "Unless you're feeling generous, give me something cheap." As an afterthought he adds. "There hasn't been any mail, has there?" he asks. Maybe Yuln had sent him some news. That old mercenary might have an idea about what to do.
Ryksa the White |
Slowly making her way into town, shielding her eyes from the sun and wishing she was in a cool river, Ryksa looks around at her new hometown. The folks there had more or less taken her and Halina in, even if they had some odd ways about them, though they simply claimed to be from the River Kingdoms. Worked like a charm too... She looks up to see Ragnarok, that mountain of a man entering the Silver Stoat with an odd look around him. Her curiosity piqued, she makes her way in as well.
As she steps in and out of the sun, she sees Ragnarok asking for a drink. Well, he did help me and Halina with our home... She steps forward and puts a few silver on the counter, looking up at the man. "Here, that should make the bartender a little more generous, yes?" She gives him a warm smile before frowning some. "Something's wrong, isn't there?" She wasn't sure, but he looked... Cold...

There is a guard tower in town that houses what stores the militia has. It is used as a stronghold and watch tower.
Currently, the militia are those capable of bearing arms with the skills they naturally possess.
Speaking of death! (sort of)
If, when your character dies you will have the option to rejoin the game as a new character1 level lower than the party's current level. Gold will be determined at that time.
The surviving party members can trade one of their own items for one from the fallen comrade. All other gear is buried with the dead character. NO LOOTING FRIENDS :)
You can, obviously accept a form of resurrection if available.
P.S. I love the way the roleplay is headed, but be careful how much we go into. We haven't started yet and are still waiting on one or two to speak up that they're in. I know you're excited and I don't blame you, just take it easy :)
Salvia Hardheart |
@ Salvia: Let me know which families or people you've lived with and now don't. :(
[Actually jumped out of my chair in excitement when I saw my character's name on the list... Thanks!]
Do you want me to create the names of the families Salvia stayed with or pick from a list of families you have for the area?
I'm imagining that her path went something like this... ran away from the first farm family (where her brother stayed and was adopted), was then taken in by a second farm family (the neighbors, who thought she just needed some "discipline"), then taken in by the family of a wood cutter (who kept seeing her in the woods and took her home to his wife and kids, made her go to school), then by an educator/mentor (who thought to reform her and educate her), then by someone in the field of law enforcement (who thought to instill her with a sense of duty), then on her own in the woods for a while before being asked to come live with her now-grown and married brother.
Salvia Hardheart |
@ Salvia: In the campaign tab, you'll find a list of the notable NPCs. You can also make up up to 3 family names if you want.
Salvia's "Families" --
Bert and Bethani Everglen – farmers – first adoptive family (her brother, Dalen, took their last name, Everglen, as his own) – She left due to conflicts with Bethani.
Johnak and Elseleen Imirras – farmers, neighbors of the Everglen's and also related to Sophia Imirras – second adoptive family – Asked Salvia to leave after catching her stealing/hording/hiding food dozens of times. They thought that the threat of being turned out into the cold would stop her from stealing, but all it did was make her steal more before she ran away.
Hank and Wanda Treefell – woodcutters – third adoptive family – Asked to leave after being caught stealing coins and breaking some of the Treefell's children's toys.
Janika Wonderkin – a halfling teacher and amateur folklorist who took Salvia in for a while – Janika and Salvia had a love-hate, mentor-mentee relationship that culminated in a loud shouting match (something about witches) in the streets. It might have turned violent, but Dalen physically restrained his sister and dragged her away.
Natharan and Zaarida Safander – cleric and his wife – fifth family – Although she was caught being unkind and covetous (taking money) on many occasions, the Safanders never threw Salvia out. She stayed for several years, enduring their “instruction,” but eventually left on her own. She did, however, come away from this family with a respect for both Erasil and Sarenrae.
Brag Ironfoot also tried to take the girl in, but that lasted for less than a three days.
Salvia now lives with Dalen and Lena Everglen and their newborn son. She loves them, but can't wait to leave.

To indicate your thinking use a I instead of a b within the brackets is the usual practice :)
Ulfgard Strongarm |
I did just find that I "might" have a problem. I am using a dwarven Longhammer and need to use weapons from the hammer group.
Longhammer and Earthbreaker are in no group, but they "should" fit into that categorie. Blunt weapons. Could you check into it, please?
Grandma Mable |
At the bottem of the text box where you enter you text that is you will see How to format your text with a show box. Click on the box and it will show you how to text.
To create a spoiler type the word spoiler surrounded by [] be sure to end the spoiler the same way you began it except add a / before the word spoiler.
To whisper use i with [] the i should be between the brackets
To speak use b with [] the b should be between the brackets
I hope this was helpful
Ulfgard Strongarm |
Ulfgard would take coals for 5 nights with him. I will take the stats of firewood if thats fine. I assume in the middle of summer no one has stacked lots of it, but in a smithy you should have a decent supply.
Grandma Mable |
I have four gold I can donate to the group pot if you need it just let me know :)
I have a one person tent (its all I could afford)
rope
grappling hook
and of course COOKIES!
Ragnarok Fimbulwinter |
Ragnarok will pick up 1 more day of trail rations. He doesn't have any money to contribute to the pot, but he will offer to carry stuff. He will carry up to 75 pounds of gear (10 will keep him under light, but since we're probably going to moving at 'dwarf speed' he's willing to be medium encumbered.)
He currently has
Winter clothes
Heavy Blanket
Bedroll
Rope
Backpack
If no one has any gear they wish him to carry, he'll purchase some firewood to bring along (20 pounds per day, but there's probably a limit to the volume he can carry)
Ragnarok Fimbulwinter |
As for spells, the next morning (and I'm sure I'm going to regret this later) he's not going to take entangle. It's such a good spell, but I suspect that all the vegetation we find is going to be covered in snow. His two spells will instead be Cure Light and Speak with Animals.
Ulfgard Strongarm |
Ulfgard will report he has a 4-man tent for sleeping, 2 people should hold watch anyway, a bazier for the tent, one for outside (cooking) if we can´t do a campfire. Also some tools, spade and saw.
He gladly accepts Ragnaroks help.
He would say 5 days of rations + cookies should be enough. He doesn´t plan to stay away for more than that. Also, even in winter one can hunt.
He will also explain that he expects civility in the tent, as it would be unwise to have 2 tents for male and woman. One big tent is safer "AND" warmer. He will also say that as a dwarf he plans to take the graveyard shift, so that we have one person who can see in the dark.
Apart from that.
Everybody finish shopping and get ready to save the damsel in distress!
Also please all people who "can" cast spells make a huddle and discuss who can cast what.
Grandma Mable |
I would prefer to say I took 10 because I prepared them ahead of time but that would be up to you what you would allow.
Just let me know what you think
