GM Cyrioul's Carrion Crown (Inactive)

Game Master Jason Lillis

Cursed and haunted, Ustalav rests upon the bones of the foul empire of the legendary lich-archmage known as the Whispering Tyrant. In the centuries since the undead conqueror’s defeat, the land has been resettled, but superstition and horror still lurk in the country’s shadows.

***RAWR!!!***

Fabric rips between sight, mind, and screen as Baer enters the thread.

"I summon myself from the aether and into this thread! Let the circuits tremble and the pixels quake at my coming!"

Stepping through, Baer dusts herself off and snaps in twain the silver cord attached at the waist.

"Carrion Crown, eh? I pledge my full soul and highest body that I have character worthy of this group. We shall strike down those who have taken the Professor from us."

Baer draws a large stone from the aether and places it near her. Baer dusts off the rock, has a sit, and begins to wait for the others to arrive. Her chin rests upon this clenched fist and that upon a bowed elbow upon knee.

Thanks for the invite. I'm excited for this. I'll be ready to on Monday, need to finish tweaking Baer. GM Cyrioul, I send you a PM.

Hello fellow waifs of the night. I've not played this AP before, I'm pretty excited about it.

Thanks, all!

The gameplay thread is here.

Feel free to dot for your reference.

I'm trying not to paste too frequently (as in, matching the posting of others), and wanted to check is everyone is okay with the posting rates as they are now?

I could go quicker, but don't want to step on reactions from Cassandra or Griar.

Or are we slow playing it for our 5th player?

I think we are good for now (1ish per day). I'll advance at EOD today or tomorrow morning.

I will be unable to post tomorrow (Saturday). Please feel free to NPC me should it be necessary.

Received - have a good weekend.

Sorry all for the lack of posting but this week has been a bear. What with problems at work and my daughter being down with a cold for a few days I found myself with little time to think, let alone post. Also with this being one of the first nice weekends of spring I've been doing more outdoor chores (pulling bushes, powerwashing my deck and fence, etc) and when I get a chance I will sit down this evening and try to sort everything out and catch up.

FYI - We've lost Cassandra, and are picking up Marckus, a cleric created for another CC recruitment. You can see his profile at Marckus' Profile Page. Let mek now if you have any questions.

Hello everyone. Marckus has arrived to spread the oft-boring message of Abadar. I hope you're all ready to take notes! There will be a quiz after the sermon.

Ha! An evangelist of Abadar and an evangelist of Abadar.

This could get redundant.

I just caught up on gameplay. Ready to jump in any time.
Questions I have:
1) Story: Why did I miss the funeral? Perhaps I arrived early in town and already handled my business there?
2) Story: What of that which was presumably left to me in the will?
3) Mechanical: I assume I am starting play with equivalent XP and treasure as the other players? Some GMs set back replacement characters, which I've always found somewhat cruel and odd.

1) I'm assuming you were delayed from attending.
2) This is trickier, since we've already shared the will. However, i think it makes sense for you to get a reward for sticking out the month and Cassandra has not.
3) Yes, essentially.

I wish to switch my deity to "dice". Praying to the dice gods seems more helpful. I don't care what kind of bonus spells they have.

At least it's not combat. I don't mind failing skill saves if my life is not on the line. :\

Their collective domains are Madness, Trickery, Heroism, Death, and - of course - Luck.

I'll be in and out of my pool all weekend. So, no worries on the issue you mentioned GM.

Nice! I'll be in Minnesota. Fewer pools, more cold.

Back from out of town. Thanks for your patience, folks, I hope to update tonight after finishing unpacking.

Indeed, but I haven't picked it yet. Will try to tonight, but might be tomorrow before I get back to you on that one.

Makes me wonder if the Professor left us a key and we missed it or forgot about it.

There was a key to the chest he left us.

I wouldn't expect it to work here.

Ok, that's weird. I edited in a perception roll. I think the webpage made my strength check into the perception roll, then put the new die roll down on the str check.

I'm pretty sure I rolled a 3 for the str check and it changed.

In the guild building thread I noticed that, if I copy/pasted the dice code it all showed the same number.

Lets see if it does it again.
Test: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6This one I typed in, all others were copy/paste.
Test: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Test: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Test: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

More copy paste.
Test: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 91d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Test: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 131d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Test: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Interesting...

While you're practicing, why not make a few more Str checks with the crowbar, just in case?

And put your back into it, human.

I figured since we're not under threat, and not sure if there is a penalty for failure (door doesn't open, so what), you could be allowed to take 20. That's my interpretation of the rule, but it's not my call to make.

I was under the impression we had entered the front of the prison. If not, I'm fine with going to the manor house. BTW, have you figured out a map system? Pretty sure everyone on these boards either uses google docs or Ditzie (my preference).

Still outside. The problem is not the map itself, per se, but that I don't have one that isn't copied out of the PDF of the book, something that goes against the Community Use Policy, which I'd like to stay on the correct side of if possible. I may just have to quick hand-draw the exterior of the prison for you. On my way to help move a refrigerator, will reply as needed soon.

I appreciate being in this campaign, but I think I'm getting close to calling it for Baer. She needs momentum and activity to be her best and these frequent pauses make it difficult for me to maintain character and interest.

My apologies for the lack of action. I'm finally back home, and finding that summer has cut into my desire to be in front of screens.

If the remainder are interested in continuing, please let me know, and we'll figure out a posting schedule that will work.

Cyrioul
