GM Aarvid |
Checking the door and opening, Andrazi sees the following:
The southern wing of this L-shaped hallway ends at
a pair of stone doors carved with the depictions of
two skeletons reaching out to clutch a skull between
them, while to the east the hallway narrows down
to frame a circular carving of what seems to be an
immense stack of tens of thousands of gold coins
that rises from floor to ceiling. The edges of these
coins are carved with tiny, spiky runes.
Kyra of Thistletop |
"Perhaps the answer is in all these." Kyra gestures at the many books and notes. "We should take them with us so that we can look at them later and perhaps share them with the authorities."
GM Aarvid |
Jory and Kyra estimate about the pile of journals, scrolls and notebooks would take several hours to sort and read.
@Andrazi - Just the double-doors to the south.
Andraste, Oracle of Sarenrae |
Andraste will prepare to run away in fear again as Andrazi opens the double doors.
GM Aarvid |
So far I only have Andrazi in the new room and Kyra and Jory in the fountain room. Not sure where the others are.
Raoul Kasabian |
Raoul follows Jory and flips through some of the journals. When Andrazi heads down the hall, the wizard puts the journal down.
"Hmm, I'll follow at a distance - try to keep myself out of danger."
Andraste, Oracle of Sarenrae |
Andraste moves further in, waiting near the others as Andrazi explores on his own.
GM Aarvid |
Raoul helps Kyra and Jory read manuscripts for a bit then follows Andrazi as he moves into the south room to open the double doors.
Andraste stays in the hallway between the rooms.
Aelfward stays with the mage to ensure she does not try to crawl away again while he arranges their first date in Sandpoint.
Andrazi opens one of the two doors...
Four pillars support the domed ceiling of this
room. Several dark alcoves containing standing
sarcophagi grace the walls, and a statue of a stern
man wielding a glaive and holding a book stands in
the southern part of the chamber.
GM Aarvid |
As Andrazi enters the room, and starts searching the lights flicker and the shadows come off the walls...

Al moves to the other side of the doors in front of Jory and fires a ghost salt and cold iron arrow at the creature closet to him. arrow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 for damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Andraste, Oracle of Sarenrae |
Seeing everyone run past her, Andraste will move beside Jory and draw her Scimitar.
GM Aarvid |
Keep in mind that you can post ahead, but I am running people in init order. I moved Jory and Andraste back since they may want to change their actions.
Aelfward moves quickly into the large hallway towards the room Andrazi entered.
He only has line of sight to the most distant of the creatures in the room. He looses his shot but the arrow hits the doorjamb (cover).
This only angers the creature and it charges Aelfward in a silent rage.
inc touch, charge: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 = 14 for str dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 6
scoring a hit that chills the fighter's arms to the bone.
Andraste and Jory see a creature fly out of the room directly at Aelfward and claw his arm.

Jory Redcap |
Jory moves to help Aelfward. He fires an arrow at the creature after moving through the door.

Andrazi |
Due to the growing numbing sensation in his arms and the fact that he is alone in a room with two spectral creatures, Andrazi beats his feet away.

Andraste will move up besides Aelfward, drawing her weapon, and...Waiting for the result of my knowledge for my standard.
GM Aarvid |
Andraste moves up next to Aelfward with blade drawn....
Andraste, Oracle of Sarenrae |
Andraste utter's a prayer, and her Scimitar begins to shine Swift action, activate my Consecrated scimitar, using one of my channels the next undead I hit takes half my channel dice. and swings her Scimitar at the creature!
+1 Consecrated Scimitar: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 191d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 52d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9 DC 17 Will for half of the positive energy.
"Be careful, these creatures are shadows, they are incorporeal undead! Nonmagical weapons will not harm them!"
GM Aarvid |
And Andraste calls divine power to her blade and slashes into the shadow with righteous accuracy.
will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
The shadowy form silently reacts violently to the pain of the holy blade, pulling back it's smoldering arm.
Jory moves down and shoots an arrow between Andraste and Aelfward, striking the creature in the would-be chest.
2+4+8= 14 dmg
I do not see whether consecrated allows full damage vs incorporeal, so assuming 50% for the magic blade and bow.
Andrazi tumbles and weaves out of the room with the other shadows.
Raoul...yes, you are not running in fear. Get in there man!
Raoul Kasabian |
Raoul decides to go for broke and rushes in to help his comrades with his wand of Magic Missile drawn. He fires off a bolt of arcane force at the shadow nest to Andraste.
MM: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Andraste, Oracle of Sarenrae |
Yea, it's halved unfortunately, I probably would have actually done more if I channeled normally, but I don't get to use the Consecrated often.
GM Aarvid |
Raoul rushes to the aid of his friends and blasts a bolt of force from his wand, striking with full impact into the shadow. It staggers but keeps pressing its attack.
Andrazi's friend looks like he wants to give another high-five to the swordsman, but stops at the doorway.
Kyra drops her books at the sounds of combat and rushes in to join the fray with her scimitar ready for action.
A third shadowy figure likewise enters the doorway, looking at his injured friend with a look like "what are you doing out there?"
Somehow the first one missed the memo about staying in the room...

GM Aarvid |
Aelfward, the doorway is a hard-corner, so no valid square to step back into. Not that it will matter this time.
The shadow appears to be a wisp of its former self and reaches out weakly with an icy claw, scratching the holy Oracle before it glides back 5' towards the crypt room.

Jory Redcap |
Jory slings the quiver and is able to get off a single shot with the new arrows with the fancy treatment of dead ghosts on it. He to shoot at the one he hit before, but will take the clearest shot, shifting to Andraste's spot if that helps.
deadly aim/damage: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d8 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Andraste, Oracle of Sarenrae |
Andraste steps further into the room, but away from the creature that attacked her. "Begone foul creatures!"[/b] She exclaims as she sees another just outside the door.
My last Channel against Undead: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 5) = 16
GM Aarvid |
Andraste moves towards the corner and calls divine power through her to blast the shadows.
3d20 ⇒ (5, 14, 4) = 23
The wounded one is blasted into nothingness.
The other two, the one that hit Andrazi before seems less impacted than the one.
Jory moves over to get a better shot, and one of his special arrows barely clips Andrazi's friend, causing it visible reaction.
Andrazi swings but misses the shadow in the doorway.
Raoul...
GM Aarvid |
And Raoul steps up and unleashes another bolt of magic, taking down the second of the shadows. The remaining one tries to escape but you are able with arrow and spells, destroy it quickly.
*** End combat ***
For the others that had not seen the room yet....
Four pillars support the domed ceiling of this
room. Several dark alcoves containing standing
sarcophagi grace the walls, and a statue of a stern
man wielding a glaive and holding a book stands in
the southern part of the chamber.
As you enter the room, Jory's dwarven skill notices a few stones that appear worn on the western wall.
GM Aarvid |
There are no traps on the well-hidden door, which the dwarf opens easily. It reveals a dusty hallway with a pair of passages turning north.
Andraste, Oracle of Sarenrae |
"Curious." Andraste says, looking at the man with the glaive and the book. Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
GM Aarvid |
The female Serenrite duo investigate the statues.
Meanwhile Jory looks down the first branch of the corridor, seeing a flight of stairs descending 20' and ending in a door.
The main hallway also turns north and descends another, similar flight of stairs.
Aelfward and Andrazi move into the room, trying to get the chill and numb to leave their arms.
GM Aarvid |
Nothing special about the statues, but the carvings on the wall appear to be in some ancient language.
Raoul and Jory hear the sound of sloshing water down the steps near them (beyond the doors).
Andraste, Oracle of Sarenrae |
As far as ancient languages, I have Thassilonian and Azlanti, if its either of those.
Jory Redcap |
Jory asks for healing using his personal wand.
CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (7, 4) + 2 = 13
31/35hp
He then continues to investigate beyond the doors.
