Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

To be clear, the Night Stalkers were killing normal rats, not Horrid Rats.

Female Human Hexcrafter Magus 3

As the vile rat attacks the dwarf beside her, Akasha strikes with a well aimed thrust, plunging her blade into the disgusting rodent.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Akasha's strike, though well placed, finds the tough natural armor of the Horrid Rat not quite so easily penetrable and the blade slides away leaving the rodent unharmed.

"Pleassse ssstep in the room people. Sssomeone coupe de gras the sssleeping one. The cassterss and archersss need line of sssight to asssisst."

Male Dwarf Fighter

Bosramir looks as the blade misses and swings his hammer at the rat.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 4 = 15 he then takes a five foot step back

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

You can't take a 5ft step back, there's a wall there. The only place to move to his left, beyond Akasha, right beyond Demise, back into the room you left beyond Vannevar or into the room with the rats.

The hammer proves as ineffective as Akasha's sword in damaging the creature. I will wait to see exactly where on the map Bosramir is planning to move before continuing with the rats.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Bosramir has given me his coordinates, he is now at T13

As Bosramir moves into the room, the first rat lashes out at him.
Bite 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 4
Acid 1d6 ⇒ 5
Bosramir, you were at neg 8, and healed up to 5, so you are once again unconscious and dying.

Before focusing on Akasha in the doorway.

Akasha I need a fortitude check, please. As well as to know you're current HP. I believe you are down to 1, correct?

The second rat remains unconscious.

Demise casts his slumber hex on the rat that is causing so much mayhem. Slumber DC 14 will save "Once it fallss assleep, ssomeone finish him and hiss friend off."

Will 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

The rat manages to shake off the effects of Demise's hex, and in turn issues a nasty, deep growl.

Shadow Lodge

Male Elf Druid 3

Silian curses, "Fury's frock these rats are harder to put down for a nap than a constipated dwarf-child! Balthazar if you can try to lob a bomb past the unconscious rat, I'll take the chance to slip in the room to continue shooting or get the dwarf back up, whichever is more opportune in the moment."

Male Gnome Alchemist/1

Balthazar takes out his newly prepared mutagen and drinks it.

"There's no way I can damage them without also hitting the dwarf. I am not yet able to control the extent of the bombs splash damage."

Shadow Lodge

Male Elf Druid 3

"Very well, then when a moment presents itself I shall try to slip into the room. Standing about this hallway isn't giving us much advantage over the vermin."

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Waiting on Lianna.

Can I recommend her ranged touch attack ability to keep things moving? She will have some minuses due to shooting in combat, but it is against touch AC. She hasn't been able to post for four days.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

I spoke to the player on facebook. He should be posting tonight after work. If he doesn't then I will DMNPC. I'm sorry things have slowed.

No problem. Things have been crazy for me as well. I am enjoying the game!

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

"A moment Lianna, I have line of sight on the rat now. I will shoot and then move so you can cast from this spot. We can continue to rotate our positions and perhaps damage the vermin from here.” Vannevar speaks quietly to the sorceress.

Lianna responds, ”Agreed, let’s move quickly.”

Vannevar releases the bolt from his crossbow aimed steadily at the Horrid Rat, which he can now see clearly with Bosramir no longer blocking the door, before stepping out of the way for Lianna.
Crossbow 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Lianna moves into the spot evacuated by Vannevar and casts Elemental Ray at the rodent.
Elemental Ray 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Cold Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Neither attack was successful, the bolt sliding right off of the rat's natural armor.

Silian unleashes an arrow at the conscious rat, trying to eliminate the larger current threat.

The rat lashes out at Silian as he moves past, but the nimble elf is too swift for him.
AoO Bite 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 4
Acid 1d6 ⇒ 6

Silian's arrow sticks into the rat's body with a thunk, the rat remains unconscious and through is now bleeding, it continues to breathe.

Female Human Hexcrafter Magus 3

Didn't he say he aimed at the conscious rat?

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

You're right, I misread that initially. My bad. Either way, the rat still lives, and in this case is still conscious.

Female Human Hexcrafter Magus 3

Following through on Silian's idea, Akasha launches herself into a tumbling pass taking her clear of the active rat to stop at the sleeping one freeing up space for the others to attack.

Acrobatics1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 Tumble to U11

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

The first rat turns to attack Akasha, but the unexpected pain of an arrow still lodged in its side brings the attack up short.

Seeing the danger of the rat's attacks, Demise's voice deepens. He begins speaking in the ancient tongue of Daelkyr: "جيد أن أراك " His eyes glow deep red as he points at the conscious rat.

At least I nullified a a possible crit! That would have outright killed someone!!!

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Lol, I should have clarified this first, but I couldn't find anywhere that it said line of sight was needed for this hex. From Demise's current position, he cannot see the rat so before casting any spells in which line of sight is required, he must first move to the door way or into the room. I'll allow you to post a move action now, if you wish.

Male Gnome Alchemist/1

Balthazar still holds his action, grumbling under his breath about people standing/dying in his way.

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Vannevar moves past Lianna and down the hall, pausing only long enough to determine the best path to take he crosses over Bosramir's prone body and stands next to Silian before shooting his crossbow at the rat.

Lianna runs over to U14 and aims an icy ray at the conscious rat.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 3 - 4 = 10
cold damage if it hits: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

OK, I'm just going to take this opportunity before responding to Lianna's action to post a screen cap from the Campaign Setting about Action Points to remind you that they can be used to increase a roll result (only prior to my declaring whether the action was a success or failure). Lianna, if you should so choose, I will allow you to spend an Action Point now, and roll 1d6 - the value of which will be added to your most recent attack.

Lianna's spell slams into the rat, stopping it's beating heart and with a sound not unlike a sigh escaping the lips of a forlorn lover, the rat falls over dead.

The conscious rat is dead, the unconscious rat is still alive. Since his state is determined by rounds, you will continue to act in rounds until it's killed our you leave this room. Initiative is flexible, however. What are you doing?

Female Human Hexcrafter Magus 3

Akasha stand over the sleeping rat and brings her blade point down into the over-sized vermin.

CDG 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 8) + 4 = 15

Boss Lady Dragon of the Early Evening

Technically, you still should have rolled an attack roll but with as many bonuses you'd have and negs it would have, I hardly think it's necessary.

Without a sound, blood spills out from the now dead rat, pooling around Akasha's feet.

Female Human Hexcrafter Magus 3

Coup De Grace:

Coup de Grace

As a full-round action, you can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace (pronounced "coo day grahs") to a helpless opponent. You can also use a bow or crossbow, provided you are adjacent to the target.

You automatically hit and score a critical hit. If the defender survives the damage, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die. A rogue also gets her extra sneak attack damage against a helpless opponent when delivering a coup de grace.

Delivering a coup de grace provokes attacks of opportunity from threatening opponents.

You can't deliver a coup de grace against a creature that is immune to critical hits. You can deliver a coup de grace against a creature with total concealment, but doing this requires two consecutive full-round actions (one to "find" the creature once you've determined what square it's in, and one to deliver the coup de grace).

Or am I mis-understanding?

No, I just managed to overlook the "CDG" while viewing the thread from my phone! All I saw was the roll, and recalled reading on other forums and whatnot about attacks against prone/helpless enemies. Either way, the damn thing is dead!

I'm not having anyone do anything else until I have managed to close every scrape and gash I am able to, even if it means expending the full power of this wand." Silian looks around the room at the others, and speaks loud enough for those in the hall to hear. "Anyone else? Knick yourself shaving? Stub your toe? Bang your chestplate against a corner? We can't keep exploring this place at less than full strength. If you are wounded, speak now."

As Silian looks around the room he sees broken dishes and crockery scattered across the floor mixed in with rat droppings and dead insects. "Probably, any reason we're still in here?" Akasha asks.
