Still here, just holding for now. If I have to restrain Gunnar, I will, otherwise I am waiting for the thing to show itself.

Chaul continues to scratch at his eyes.
"Oh the pain!"
Spiritual weapon rolls earlier
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Gunnar confused by the gibbering swings at Ss'alat but luckily misses him
Torrag pulls out a wand and casts Magic Missile at it.
However only a moment latter the Dwarf's mind clears and he aims at the real target with precision and mighty long reach, which takes care of the blob
There isn't any space for you to grow that big, unless Ss'alat moves away..so let's just assume he did
Save your burning hands Ss'alat
After a few more seconds the pit disappears and you can conclude that the blob didn't contain anything of value
The door to the north leads to a toilet.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I'll assume that you guys will continue moving so giving the description now
Three matched doors stand on the corridor’s east side. Each is carved with the images of lordly feasts, although a hooded gray figure appears in each image, silently watching.
Eladrian |
Eladrian moves out into the corridor, and up to the next door in line. Looking at the carvings, Eladrian shrugs his shoulders before checking at the door.
Hearing the voices while he does, he cautions the others to be quiet.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
"Voices" whispers Chaul, pointing at where the sound is coming from.
Eladrian |
"How do we want to do this? Eladrian whispers. "We can throw open all the doors at once and rush in under a hail of arrows, or we can block the door and move on. Any other ideas?"
Ss'alat |
I presume we left the first two guards having a snooze in the cells once that blobby thing was killed off
"Perhaps there is a small opening or gap below this door for a Aashsaa to be our eyes and ears first." whispers Ss'alat
Ss'alat will inspect the door to see if there is a small enough space for Aashsaa to crawl into (safely!) to peer in at the humans beyond the door. Not to send her all the way in to become a dead familiar. But enough to look, hear, and smell (with a snake's olfactory excellence).
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
It's worth a try; using a familiar as a scout
Revvy Bitterleaf |
As far as I know..you just left them tied-up and unconscious on the floor of the room where you found them..but if you want to move them to a cell of which you have no keys...you can do that
There isn't that much space..but if I remember correctly owls are pretty flexible so if you want to stuff it under a door..you might be able to do so
4d20 ⇒ (7, 2, 15, 10) = 34
This mess hall’s north and south walls are fitted with shelves containing mismatched goblets, platters, and bowls. A number are made of fine porcelain emblazoned with crests of noble families. A raised table with three lavish chairs stands at the east end.
There are 4 robes figures eating at the tables, their masks resting near them.
Ss'alat |
@ Revvy: Aashsaa is a tiny viper, not an owl! Not enough coffee! :D That's my standard excuse.
But, anyway... I don't think Ss'alat can get that kind of detail from Aashsaa until he reaches level 7. I was just hoping to get Aashsaa to bob her head to indicate the number of robed figures when she returns. For a reptile, she's intelligent, but Ss'alat shouldn't be able to see through her eyes as such.
Ss'alat |
Okay; resuming, etcetera...
Once Aashsaa returned, Ss'alat gets her to indicate the number of people behind the door. She bobs her head four times to indicate four people and then returns to the pocket nest in Ss'alat's shirt.
"Well, it seems there are four people beyond that door. How does everyone want to proceed? From what the rest of you heard, it sounds like they are eating and not ready for a fight."
Torrag Grimm |
"I say we all walk in with our robes and masks on and ask if they've saved any for us and the first one to touch their weapon gets an arrow from Eladrian."
Eladrian |
"I think that if we do not rush in on the attack, they will think they have a chance and will try to fight. But I will go along with what you say. We can try talking.. maybe we can find some keys to the jail cell and lock them all up. Either way, I think that we should get in front of all three doors that way we are not just all crammed into one doorway."
Chaul Drammarson |
"So we open and all enter, then have weapons at their throats - we can ask them what this place is all about?"
Suggests Chaul
Torrag Grimm |
Torrag will draw a wand and his xbow. Right before folks open the doors he'll cast Shield and put the wand away.
Novid Sin Eater |
Novid rests his sword against his shoulder waiting for the door to open.
Novid isn't wearing the mask or cloak fyi. He dislikes the idea of pretending to be someone else and not a follower of Ragathile
Revvy Bitterleaf |
As you open the door you see;

Torrag Grimm |
For Surprise Round: Torrag moves into the room with his Crossbow at the ready.
"I know we all want to make smart decisions today, so let me help you with that decision. Anyone who doesn't remain in their seats with their hands flat on the table where we can all see them, will be considered as a Poor decision maker. Now, lets all get along."
For initiative action, Torrag will ready an action to fire at the first person he sees grab a weapon or stand up.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
@Torrag feel free to include any die rolls for taking a readied action when you post it. It saves time when I need to fit in when it happens
Eladrian fires an arrow right into the middle of the table intimidating everyone present
Going with a demoralize for this, you have them shaking in their paints
Chaul advances with weapon drawn into the room
Gunnar casts a spell to protect himself
Torrag moves into the room with his Crossbow at the ready, aiming his weapon at the guard looking for signs of resistance.
Novid walk into the room glaring at the enemies.
Ss'alat enters the room and casts Hypnotism to muddle up as many of the guards as he can
since nobody actually made an attack yet, not giving them the +2 bonus for being in combat, with a -2 for being shaken

"And that's what happens when you don't cooperate. Who's next?"
So much for the peaceful solution.
Ss'alat |
OOPS! I forgot I could make one reasonable request with the Hypnotism spell
Ss'alat will say to the red & yellow guards who fell under the Hypnotism spell:
"Surrender and you will be unharmed!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
This mind affecting lark is kind of fun with rolls like that!
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Novid manages to take down one of the guard with one slice while 2 guards remain seated at Ss'alats request.
The last one (red) looks around at the others and stands up
Torrag then fires a crossbow bolt at him which slams into the table next to the guard.
And the guard then continues to move towards the door in the NE corner
"We are under attack!"

Ss'alat |
Ss'alat groans in frustration. "You could have easily subdued those two guards … " pointing to the Red and Yellow guards" … I hypnotized them and they surrendered!"
After a pause, he adds "Before we go into more rooms, I better warn you when I'm going to do something that can save bashing heads, methinks!"
Now I know how Edmund Blackadder felt when relying on Baldrick to carry out a plan so cunning it came from a fox who graduated from Cunning University! :D Oh well. Next time. Just got our wires crossed a bit, I think.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I messed up which one ran away, it was one who failed his will save ..which means another one was supposed to get up and run. But since you are attacking the ones that surrendered now I don't think it will matter in the grand scheme of things..for a simple fix changing the one who surrender to blue..all though he's changing his mind now that he sees what you guys do to people who surrendered
Gunnar steps into the chamber and swing his hammer none too gently, hitting one of the guards who remained seated at Ss'alats suggestion.
Chaul follows the fleeing guard and manages to strike him in the back
Novid moves into the room
No AOO, yellow failed his save, so remained seated and didn't draw a weapon yet..he might have a fork or something..or a chicken leg...or a banana
Eladrian almost takes down the running guard with his second arrow, but Chaul just steps in between the guard and the arrows path (miss due to cover)

This ought to be fun!
Not wanting to let a perfectly good spell go to waste, Ss'alt quickly puts himself between Gunar and the guard (seated, yellow) that Gunar just hit and says to that guard: "Forgive me, friend! My associate here mistook you for someone else!"
And, looking over at Gunnar, he'll say "DIDN'T YOU?"
Bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
He'll ignore the other seated hypnotized guard (purple), since Torrag isn't hurting him.
And to the other guard in red, he'll say: "Please surrender! No more harm will come to you if you just lay down your arms and tell us all you know!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

No idea if you can do more then 1 bluff check in a round..but the second one fails anyway
Ss'alat convinces one of the guards to remain seated while Torrag drops his crossbow and casts Acid Splash at the guard bear the door but fails to hit . He then draws his war-hammer.
The guard near the door opens it yelling for help, behind the door are 2 more familiar looking guards along with a woman who has a holy symbol hanging around her neck, a rapier at her side as well as a crossbow. All 3 of them move to the door, the guards draw weapons.
