Ronaef Tuefellaei |
Ronaef relays what was said by the kobolds limited capability on phone so can you please assume I'm going back through and telling what they said
"and that's what I've heard and know"
David_Bross |
As you tell her the baroness looks deep in thought. Well, this telling of kobolds returning to belheim is troubling, especially if they're to be collapsing our towers. As promised, here is your gold. She hands over a satchel containing 500 gold pieces. If you'd like to earn a fair bit more, I might have an opportunity for you to do some more work for me. I've been long suspicious of a local kobold tribe living near the flooded quarry to the east, but until now they've never given us any trouble. Things have changed, and I'd prefer to see them driven from the area in light of this recent development.
David_Bross |
The one who'd know the most about the kobolds would be the sherriff, as he informed me they were there. We've had an occasional sighting by a farmer, but for the most part they've kept to themselves, that is until now...
I'm glad you're agreed. As I said, I want them driven from this area. I'll leave the specifics of that up to you, but I'd rather they not trouble us again. Belheim has had troubles with dragon-kin before, but not for hundreds of years, and I'd prefer to head anything like that off quickly.
Let me know what you guys are looking for in town, in or out of character, and I'll try to steer you in that direction. Right now your talking to Baroness Origena, but she is far from the only person in town, and you have yet to make any transactions, or shown anyone anything you've found.
Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |
"What are you offering to get us to drive them away?" Nat asks, cautiously suspicious of the noble human lady, especially since she hasn't given them the payment she offered before to explore the ruin.
David_Bross |
look above, she handed over a satchel containing 500 gold to cassandra as payment to the group. The baroness replies a dozen small gems seems fair for the service? At the same time she pulls out a second smaller bag and opening it to reveal 12 small gems, each worth around 100 gold.
Cassandra Hanata |
Comedy cliche time.
Cassandra, standing next to Nat, places a indexfinger on Nat's lips to shut any objection to what she's about to say herself.
"We're grateful of your generosity and we'll take this assignment. We'll be heading there shortly then, lady baroness."
Well, getting paid for adventure, on top of the found loot, is a drive for this one. Don't worry, she's not a coin addict though.
David_Bross |
You guys are in the drivers seats right now :). Since the deal is agreed she expects you to get round to it sooner rather than later, but the exact timeframe wasn't really negotiated on. Certainly taking the day wouldn't be disagreeable, and you've got a vast town you can explore. I know some people were interested in that.
Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |
Would be awfully nice to get to 2nd level before heading down into the kobold tunnels.
Nat heads out to check on Demii, and mounts up again to start exploring the town. "Need a magic shop first off, if there's one."
Cassandra Hanata |
Cassandra has a look around and asks the most likely scholared person on the street for the magic shop, as well as directions for the points of interest around town.
Diplomacy, directions?: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (19) - 3 = 16
What Cassandra lacks in courtesy, she makes up for with her eastern Tien looks, it seems.
David_Bross |
Magic shop, clearly you're from larger towns than Belheim!
Well, If you be seeking magic I'd try the House of Abadar, they'd be likely to see you wares. You could also try the Shrine of Seven Roses, or Delbin's devices. If you're looking for armor or weapons you could try Sensina's Hides or Chance smithy, but I'm unsure if they have anything magical
House of Abadar is area 15
Shrine of Seven Roses is area 32
Delbin's Devices is 23
Sensina Hides is 13
Chance Smithy is 36
Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |
"...There are larger towns?!" Nat looks taken aback at the thought.
Can you add a legend to the map of the town, by any chance?
David_Bross |
There is a legend up now (feel free to edit as you guys see fit, I just put some preliminary information you guys have into it now, if you need more rows you can add as well). I placed you guys at the Baronness's having just asked a passing villager in the above conversation about magical items.
Ronaef Tuefellaei |
Do we have much money?
David_Bross |
I'll assume the party sticks together unless someone notes otherwise
You visit the Chance smithy. Despite the foggy day outside inside the furnace is roaring. You hear multiple hammers ringing while a soot covered man with huge arms steps out to meet you. Yes, what do you lot want?
David_Bross |
Each Mithral dagger is 1 lb, so 501 gp in value
The large man looks shocked when he sees the quality of weapon you have I'll give you 490 gold for both daggers... OR equivalent trade up to 650 gold for anything I've got here in the shop. The shops walls are lined with human sized arms and weapons, both of exceptional Masterwork and regular quality.
Ronaef Tuefellaei |
"Well done Cassandra"
Ronaef is visibly restraining himself from saying anything, experience has taught him that his wit and intellect are not appreciated by those less intelligent than he.
David_Bross |
At the Chance Smithy
I'd love to provide you with a bow and a good sword, but alas, I've got but the sword, as I'm not a fletcher. I would have thought the sign would have given "smithy" party of that would have given that away. I said I'd given equivalent trade for those two exceptional daggers, and here it is. He presents a beautifully crafted MW greatsword This ought to be more than enough for those two little daggers.
I forgot there are actual mechanical implications for the different merchants and how they feel about you guys. I guess I have to enforce those :)
Those at Chance smithy notice that he is somewhat unfriendly, insulting, and brutish in the conversation they've had thus far with the man
At Delbin's devices a woman timidly approaches Ronaef. When you inquire about acid she quickly pulls out a vial, and asks 11 gold per flask.
Cassandra Hanata |
Diplomacy, barter: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (17) - 3 = 14
"Surely a mwk greatsword is worth less than 2 mithral daggers. Last time i heard, a masterwork greatsword cost 350gp. A dagger made of mithral is worth 502 gold pieces. We've taken care of the kobold problem that plagued the town, now surely you can offer a bit more, sir merchant?"
If any of the others is raising any eyebrows on her know of pricings, she shrugs.
"I've seen many places."
Aid other, any1?
If the GM feels she wouldn't know of the pricings, consider the pricings comment not mentioned.
Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |
Nat asks Ronaef who Abadar is, having never heard of him before. Assuming the elf educates her, she figures that the clerics of a god of merchants are likely to have healing wands or items available for purchase.
She also looks over the items available for sale at Delbin's Devices. Any list of things available there?
