You find yourselves in the Verduran forest in the town of Belhaim. Unless you have a different story and I fully encourage you to if you are so inclined. You were acting as a caravan guard under the employ of Silas Gribb, and just reached the town.

As the caravan meets the intended destination the young warpriest looks up with a smile as they approach the new town. He offers a prayer of thanksgiving to the son of Dispater. Thinking to himself, I wonder if the worship of Ragathiel has come here or who these people worship?

The black haired scout of mixed heritage was slightly ahead of the caravan. Quickly getting back as she saw the town, she approached her employer.

"Sir Gribb, we've reached our destination."

She put her bow back on her back, walking along with the others.

Ronaef strides into town with the Caravan... he raises his hand to his closed eyes for a few seconds and then lowers it again and looks around and says almost to himself "I foresee opportunity"

Male Human Expert 3

It looks like all 3 of you came into town with the trade caravan, one as a religion pilgrim, two as caravan guards. We'll see how the other two come in and then we can start.
Feel free to role-play any interactions you might have had with each other on the caravan trip. For the most part it was uneventful travel from the south up through the Verduran forest

Nat had appeared out of the woods recently and offered the services of herself and her companion, a young white tiger, to the caravan owner. Clad in a leather dress and an armored jerkin of small metal plates, and riding atop her bestial companion, the enigmatic halfling spoke little of her past, but chatted amicably with anyone willing to get close enough to her cat. She carried an old lance that had clearly seen a lot of use, but also had been very well cared-for.

When camp was made, she was seen to limp about, one of her legs shorter and weaker than the other. Each night she would sleep next to her tiger's protective presence.

Arriving in the town, she met the stares of curious people with a confused smile.

To Ronaef, with whom she had formed a bit of a friendship, she whispered in elven, "Why are they staring at me and Demii?"

Making a little bit of an assumption here; I can change it if you don't want to have any particular friendship between them, Ronaef, but she was raised by an elf and speaks elven like a native so it would make sense to me that she would try to make friends with an elf.

I'm ok with it, Ronaef is a bit haughty but your an Oracle someone who he can relate to and have a decent conversation with and you speak Elvish.

Male Human Expert 3

You all remember this scene occurring as you arrived in town, earlier in the day

As you ask Silas Gribb for your pay, two men and one woman approach the recently arrived caravan. "Halt in the name of the law. I am Sheriff Benhovy and I have a warrant for Silas Gribb's arrest. Lay down your arms and we can discuss this." Silas looks towards the rest and then unhooks his sheath and places it on the ground, saying "Surely we can talk about this... " The deputies then grab him and quickly manacle him.

Benhovy addresses the caravan guards, "So, were the lot of you in on the smuggling as well?" Some of you spoke out as innocent, as you were never told of anything but common trade supplies in the caravan, and Benhovy accepted your explanation. Unfortunately you were left stranded as Benhovy and some of his deputies departed with the confiscated caravan.

Fortunately a young woman approached the group. "Hello, I am Talia Orem. I'm sorry to see your troubles. We don't get so many visitors here, and those that do are typically passing through. As it happens I heard of your troubles with your former employer, deceiving you as to what you were doing and then leaving you stranded here. As it is, you're more than welcome to stay at my inn, the Wise Piper, free of charge for a few days until you all decide what to do next."

Male Human Expert 3

Currently
It is evening and you're seated at the Wise Piper, enjoying a free meal of fresh bread with cheese and honey, washed down with watery mead.

please feel free to continue background role-play that may of occurred during this meal or earlier in the adventure. I'll continue with what happens next tomorrow.

After learning of their employer's perfidy, she mutters to Ronaef:

Elven:
"My father warned me about hoo-mons, but it's not like we can avoid them, they're everywhere! These lot we were on the caravan with don't seem so bad, though."

Nat spends some time arguing with the stablehands about a place for Demii, finally agreeing to let him sleep in the woods nearby and for them to give him some meat scraps after dinner was finished being made. Is there a town map?

Elven:
They lack foresight and can be terribly dull, some do show some promise though. I too have hope for our companions.

Ronaef will sit at a table close to a wall, facing the wall (The sight provides) and invite the more martial members t to take up seats facing the room.

"Come join me, lets see if we can make something of this... opportunity"

At the moment of the revelation Cassandra vaguely overhears some of the words in elven, but she didn't bother responding.

Cassandra smiled, she had observed the argument between Nátulcien and the stablehands. When the halfling left them she spoke up as she was leaning against the wall.

"Would you not rather bring your cat the food yourself? These lads don't seem very much at ease around one of the great felines."

At the invitating gesture Ronaef makes, Cassandra sits down.
"Don't mind if i do, ser Ronaef. It seems i can add a new item to my figurative list of odd things on the job. An employer's being arrested for using us to smuggle goods."

When she gets outside, she puts two fingers into her lips and makes a high-pitched whistle. Shortly thereafter, Demii emerges from the trees, and Nat pulls herself up onto his back.

Male Human Expert 3

As the group goes outside you see the townsfolk are all rushing to the edge of the town, as a huge dust plume now stands in place of the massive tower that was there just minutes ago. The townsfolk are approaching and crowding the statue, coming from everywhere in town to investigate it. As you approach you see two locals puttering about the collapsed tower, one with his hand on his hips and the other chewing on a stalk of grass. You recognize them from earlier as the deputies of Sherrif Benhovy.

Sense Motive DC 5:
They are clearly out of their element, and wish the Sherrif wasn't miles away with the caravan.

More notable are the two scaly corpses in the rubble. There are only two there, but that is two more than anyone was expecting.

Knowledge (local) DC 10:
You recognize the creatures as Kobolds.

Eventually someone from the crowd suggests that " Maybe wizard Hunclay knows something, as his manor shares a hill with the tower, " and some go towards his mansion of a home. The deputies argue for several minutes over who will knock at the door, and after a minute of the two arguing the undertaker, Calladastina Honas, gets sick of the arguing and approaches the door. She gasps as she sees a third scaled corpse, this one deeply charred, on the wizard's door steps.

Deputy Hodd bangs on the door, but hears no answer. Deputy Mulle reach for the handle, but Hodd grabs her wrist and says "whatever magic did in the Kobold, may still be active. "

Shortly thereafter a well dressed woman arrives with her son and looks at the overmatched deputies. She addresses the caravan members " You certainly were able to handle yourself in a caravan, and the ones we have capable of that are currently escorting the smuggler and his wares back. Sherri Benhovy mentioned to me he thought you to be good folk, unaware of this smuggling. Who might you be?
